Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

"I didn't say baby scorpions..."<i></i> His words were said as if there was more the statement. Matsu sighed as the rock that the tinier scorpions were sitting on, damaged and dead or otherwise, began scurrying around as the sand started to shift. A large tail sprung through the sand and lashed out, smashing around those that were potentially closest to the pile. Then, in a similar instance one claw struck out as did another. Chattering and pushing up onto the sand, a massive scorpion loomed in front of the three girls as several smaller scorpions ran across its body in agitation. Its two larger eyes would be impossible to determine where it was looking, but it was quite agitated when it's stridulation began. One would assume that scorpions hissed, but it was actually a weird vibration they did. Quickly, the scorpion burrowed beneath the sand as a small wave of sand rolled over the surface as it sunk beneath the world, stalking about and waiting to strike. Matsu did not smile beneath his mask. He simply observed. His body made no indication that he was above the sand. If the children watched him closely to this point, they'd have noticed he barely left tracks. For now, he simply remained motionless outside of speaking. "...Kill that. I can understand your...confusion? I'd have assumed being born on the surface you'd have known better, whelp."<i></i>

He'd go back to simply standing and waiting. Would the children learn how to deal with the scorpion? It didn't typically act like smaller scorpions given its larger size. He was curious. He expected one of them would get relatively injured. Perhaps maimed. It would be for the best. His eyes just followed along the landscape listlessly. He really just didn't care about their well being. Either they would grow strong and rise to the occasion or they were simply too weak to truly survive. Every now and then the sand near the surface would rise and give indication that the massive creature was burrowing about nearby, waiting for some sort of indication of the children. It was agitated that its children had been murdered. It was out for blood. Vengeance maybe? The truth was that scorpions were simply spiteful creatures. If their ability to strike was taken away, they'd find a way to bite just to be nasty.

Ayame noticed that the new girl was unsure of her actions and approached the scorpion with too much caution. Thinking was good, but overthinking was bad.
When the scorpion hissed at the white haired girl, Ayame noticed that this brought fear in her, after this a "dance" of attacking and dodging began between the creature and the girl. Amusing sight indeed.
But what surprised the girl was the thing she did after she killed it - it looked like she tried to bury the scorpion. This was odd. Why would she bury it? Did she felt guilt? The act of burying something meant that the person respected it. But who'd respect a small scorpion?
This girl was strange.

After they killed the scorpions, the teacher added - "I didn't say baby scorpions..."
Ayame laughed at the sight of the big scorpion.
- I knew it! - she said with a smile on her face, because she guessed right - the little ones weren't the real target.

The scorpion went underground. Ayame was observing his underground moves. If she was right, the scorpion could sense their movements and realize where they stood.
All she had to do was to test if she was right.
She moved her leg and saw how the sand rise in her direction and stopped when she stopped.
"Riiight..."
She could not say where the scorpion was all the time, because sometimes there was no indication of it's movements on the sand, but when it did had, she realized that the scorpion stayed in this area, not getting far from them. Also, she was aware that one blow with it's tale could be fatal, especially if it was poisonous, but in order to kill it, the scorpion must be above the ground.
- Guys... - she started talking - I'm going to heat the ground, making him to rise above the sand. The sand underground will be really hot, so this will piss him off and he will be really angry.
Ayame knelt on the ground, made a seal and buried her hands as deep as possible under the ground. She started to emit hot waves under the ground. The girls could start to feel the sand getting warmer and warmer, but under the first layer the heat would be impossible to stand.
- Come out, motherfucker!
She felt movement underneath and the sand behind her was rising, leaving it's traces. The scorpion was coming after the center of the heat, which was her.
The scorpion arise above the shaking ground a few steps behind Ayame, ready to attack. Parts of his body were burned. He was angry.

Kiyoko felt her nerves grow when she heard her teacher's words. They had killed the babies...which meant that the creature shaking the ground was the mother. And if she knew anything about a mother's relationship with her children, she knew most would be extremely angry that one of their children were killed. When the creature buried itself under the ground, Kiyoko knew they were in true danger. She began to think of anything she would be able to do, and given her weakness compared to the rest, she wasn't sure she would be of much help.

She observed the black-haired student as she tested the giant scorpion's tracking style. It was smart of her to attempt to learn the creature's attack style. Kiyo narrowed her eyes when the other female stated her plan, and when it began, Kiyoko looked to the third student for a moment. "Your attacks are stronger than mine. I will distract it as best as I can," she stated confidently, hiding her fear within herself as she looked to the giant creature when it emerged from the sand. Kiyoko could tell it was targeting the black-haired girl, so she needed to act fast.

The white-haired child ran towards the giant, swallowing nervously as she focused herself. She saw some of the smaller scorpions nearby and ran over to them, yelling at the giant creature before crushing a few of the small scorpions. She wanted to agitate it in her direction. When it turned towards her, Kiyoko smirked. Her plan was working. Now she could only hope the other two students would help her out. Surely they weren't so cruel as to leave her to fend for herself...

Kiyoko began to dodge some of the attacks sent towards her, the wind from the movements catching her off-guard at first and causing some of her dodges to be close. She eventually figured out the amount of resistance she needed to give the creature to stay on her feet. However, she wasn't as fast as the creature the entire time. Luckily she didn't get a full strike from the creature, but it did scrape her legs every few attacks when she would judge a tad too late for a complete dodge. She was also having to get used to running around on this deeper sand, a feeling she wasn't as used to since the sand around her house was pretty packed. This loose sand was more difficult to maneuver in, and her legs were beginning to grow sore from both the wounds she had received and the strain she was putting on them from moving so quickly for a good amount of time.

Teke had to resist the urge to start crying again, this time more due to the inexperience of the other two girl. She shrugged off the comments from the teacher, her experience with these creates had come long before she was in double digits so she'd never dealt with the adults much. "Well... I'd have told you both to stand still but clearly that won't be necessary anymore..." She shook her head in disapproval, not that anyone but Matsu would see it at this point. It was time for her to move in however, they'd managed to get it above ground and that was really the only thing she'd wanted, though the method of doing so was a little suicidal on their part it was effective. "Fire huh? Interesting." She'd think to herself as she observed Ayames choice of element.

It was time for her to take control of the situation or at least try, she didn't particularly like anyone here but she didn't hate them either and given recent revelations she was at the very least against the deaths of fellow sand shinobi. "Okay girls,I am gong to need yo both to listen. I am going to count back from three, when I reach one I want you to both close your eyes and jump back to me, preferably in one fluid motion, if that is beyond your skills at the moment then just do your best, then remain completely still. Three." She tried to remain calm and still, hoping the vibrations in the sand would be the only thing it was sensing. She pulled out a small gray orb that sat in the palm of her hand and tossed it toward the creatures front side. "Two." She focused on the orb, counting back in her head as she anticipated the ignition time. "One!" She called out and shielded her own eyes for the duration as the small orb turned out for be a flash bomb, giving her classmates an opportunity to escape and forcing the creature to rely on it's use of vibrations to detect them.

As the Flash bomb went off, Teke would seize the opportunity to ready herself for the coming confrontation, with a quick focus of her chakra there would be an electrical surge dancing across the upper part of her body, with a more concentrated flow emanating from her not grinning mouth, her jagged teeth glowing with electrical chakras. "You two, focus on the claws, ninja wire, rope, anything you have, prevent it from using them... I'll be taking the tail, if that thing so much as touches you, you are dead and neither of you need to watch what I do to the others corpse... When you're ready, do what you can and aid one another, I'll be making sure that tail is a non-issue so please don't let my efforts go to waste." She usually sounded to haughty and above people when she spoke to them, save a few people at least, but right now she sounded confident and commanding as you would expect from a leader, it was something she was not used to but she seemed to at least be competent at it.

It was a stare down at this point, waiting for the scorpions eyesight to come back would be troublesome but it had to make the first move to give them the advantage. She bagan to tap her foot against the sand, hoping for the creature to come her way and she'd be ready to set up an ambush where hopefully the thing would not anticipate.

[col]The scorpion chittered as it had been agitated. It's body began to flail violently from its position after having been blinded momentarily. Then it dove below ground again. This time, however, the sand was not really rippling after it burrowed. Perhaps it was learning and was going to give the children a run for their money. Perhaps there was more at play.
Matsu simply yawned and shook his hand in front of him without any reprisal from the scorpion below. Were one to watch him closely it would seem as if he wasn't really even standing on the sand. "Shhh children. Shhh. Can't you hear their calls? They come. They hunt" Said Matsu as almost a hushed whisper. With a wink, the area began to grow foggy and the sun above seemed to be drowned out by darkness. Rain? Was this rain beginning to come down? It was beginning to rain and thud heavily in torrential downpour all around them as the fog began to obscure the area. Quickly, in unnatural fashion they would lose sight of one another. Within the darkness, 3 distinct points of light began to glow ominously at various distances from where the children were. All they'd hear outside of the rain was the heightened cackle that would be distinctly Matsu, though it would seem like it was pervasive and came from no particular point.

Near each of the children could be motion seen in the ripples of the pouring water, but even then it was hard with all the mist. Smaller, but more agile bodies were skittering around. Their tails flicked and claws snapped from time to time before burrowing and rising elsewhere. Instead of one larger, mother scorpion there were 3 smaller adults out to hunt. Perhaps this was the real test? Maybe Matsu didn't want them to kill the scorpions at all, but to have agitated them enough to make them survive this mysterious new environment. Were the children watching the lanterns they might notice that they'd shift from where they were to somewhere else from time to time. Slowly. Without warning. They would be there and in an instant they would not. "Ahhhhhhhhhh. What is it to be alive, children? Where is the lie? Survive to tell me!" They would not see Matsu smiling given his attire nor the surrounding terrain, but he had hope. Unfortunately for Ayame, her Scorpion had perhaps been more agile than its siblings and snipped at her with its claw, causing her to begin bleeding from her leg before it attempted to get away. Perhaps it'd be too close and get damaged in the process? The scorpion on Teke had managed to thrust at her with its stinger, but only grazed her cheek. It would not be administering its poison today. Kiyoko was the least lucky when her scorpion managed to snag her with both pincers. It didn't cause her to begin bleeding, but it definitely hurt and she'd be in a worse position than when she started.

OOC: I know most people aren't used to RP fights and whatnot so I'll take this moment to make a few points clear. 1.) Don't control the scorpion. React to what it does, it'll react to you. Similar to how I RP'd potentially smashing Teke into the ground. It was on them to choose how to respond and so I gave options. A modded fight is one thing, but in RP, consent is paramount. 2.) Rule number 1 applies 99% of the time. In classes like this, I have a little more flexibility and tend to actually do psuedo-modded stuff. 3.) There is not an official order for posting now. Once all 3 of you post, I'll post and we'll go from there. So don't worry about waiting if you want to write something and are first to respond. Keep that in mind for the future =)|

The new girl jumped around, trying to dodge the scorpion's attack and take it's attention away from Teke. Teke, of course, ruined that by screaming like a lunatic, giving orders around. Ayame facepalmed. This was awful. There was no way the new girl could fight it's claw, not yet.
This joke resulted in damage for the girls and the new one was hurt badly.
No wonder Ayame preferred to act on her own.
She ripped part of her t-shirt, leaving the space under her chest naked. A horrifying scars could be seen on her tiny body. The girl used the cloth to quickly bandage her leg.

The teacher was talking. Ayame realized he wasn't actually standing on the sand.
And then... for a second everything became dark. The sun was consumed by the darkness around. This was strange. A rain followed. Nothing could be seen... except by Ayame. Her sharingan was still active, so she was able to see the chakra of the girls (OOC: No problem if she can't, Matsu). Not that this mattered to her, she didn't care about them.

This situation seemed very strange for Ayame. This place became dark for a matter of seconds. She had no problem with that - as darker as possible - the better. It would be easier for her to use her shadow jutsu.
The odd things didn’t stop.
3 distinct points of light began to glow at various locations. Lanterns appeared. They were shifting closely from time to time, changing it’s position.
Ayame think for a second.
"Could it be... genjutsu?" - came to her mind.
But after quickly observing her surroundings she made a tactic and hoped it worked.
She decided to follow the lantern, expecting it to lead her to one of the points where the light was going.
“This should be a safe place” – she thought.
But the scorpions would interfere.
She’d try to merge with the shadows, but didn’t like the idea. If the light was a safe place, she’d have to follow it, not trying to go around and cause herself more trouble.
Ayame made a seal and used her Immolation Armor. After all, she had to not allow the scorpion to hit her. The creature would just take a backslash damage from it’s attacks, and Ayame would just maintain her armor, trying to ignore the scorpion, so she could reach the light spot.
“What is it to be alive, sensei?" - she thought, before taking her first step - "It is a constant struggle to keep it that way. To keep yourself alive, despite what life prepared for you."
She'd know that. She came to Sand in hope to survive. She survived her entire life. But she never spoke.
Ayame moved where one of the lanterns was…

It was all she could do to jump away fast enough to dodge the explosion, but Kiyoko grew extremely nervous when the blonde classmate called out her idea. The youngest girl had absolutely no way to do what she was asked of. The only abilities she had at the moment was her speed and focus, in all honesty. She was caught off-guard, however, when the scorpion burrowed once more. They had lost it. But when it suddenly began to rain, Kiyoko began to think something was off. It would take her too long to realize that there were other enemies to face, and her legs would be grabbed by the scorpion beneath her. She let out a cry of pain before gritting her teeth, moving as quickly as possible in the now wet sand. She was in much more pain now, her already weak muscles screaming at her to relax even though she knew she shouldn’t. She took notice of the light not to far from her, it being the only thing she could see somewhat clearly. Tears stained her cheeks from the unusual amount of pain she was experiencing, but she forced herself forward anyway, attempting to keep track of any more attacks that may come from below.

As she was moving along through the sand, she would begin to review the few things she was able to observe during her time near the teacher. He was a pretty secretive man, and she was having a difficult time figuring out what she believed was the lie. It had been a long time since she observed an untruthful person she didn’t known personally, so she was a good bit unprepared for this challenge. Kiyo was slowly falling behind the light she was following, something that was making her fear for her life in some manner. Being the naive child she very clearly was, she didn’t want to believe their teacher would actually allow them to die, but she wasn’t sure how capable she was of surviving a terrain like this.

In what may have been seconds, minutes, or much more, Kiyo realized the light had completely disappeared from her sight. She was aimlessly wandering now, and she didn’t want to move too far away from her class, so she stopped herself and focused her remaining energy on watching for attacks as well as keeping an eye out for any help or a sign of where the others were.

The two girls seemed compliant at first but that was probably to much for Teke to have hoped for, especially from Ayame. She let out a sigh of exasperation when the sudden arrival of the rain made her look up to the skies, unbelieving because this was that much of a rarity, to see it now was beyond unlikely. "Well, this is certainly fucked." She said softly as Ayame started to run off, that's what it sounded like at least, being robbed of her vision was quite the experience.

What was she even trying to accomplish right now, she'd made a promise to ensure the safety of the denizens of the village but right now she could care less about Ayame and her brash attitude. Kiyoko on the other hand was a more pressing matter, the girl was clearly out of her depth in a battle if the expression on her face a few moments ago was anything to go by, it would be best to try and stick with her but in this fog it seemed impossible, even shouting to one another. "Be safe, girls." She muttered and she started to walk forwards, barely a step had been taken however before she was assaulted, a smaller scorpion had lunged at her with its stinger toward her face. "First mistake." she thought, having being ready for something like this from the start, albeit in a less misty environment, she lashed out toward the beasts extended tail with her electrically charged teeth and snapped at them harshly, hoping to leave some devastating damage and taking a scratch herself.

Once the assault was over she would remain still for a few moment and think about the best course of action, she noticed the glowing lights but couldn't help thinking that they were a trap, however given the void she currently found herself in it was the only clue she felt she had. A strange idea popped into her mind at that point, she'd been taught about walking on water by using chakra without disturbing it, perhaps she could do the same on the sand. It would be hit and miss and it would take some on the spot practice but she would start making her way toward one of the lights as quickly as her new technique would allow. "This weather is clearly a jutsu, if only I knew a way to rid myself of it... I doubt lightning will help, except for against those damn scorpions, I should expect more attacks as I move." She thought as she traveled, it made her wish she'd tried to learn more than just Ninjutsu, it was what she was good at though. She was frustrated at this point and was ready to kill something, anything.

[col]Matsu watched with amusement as the children struggled. They definitely had the drive to become more. He simply took note of all the players in the performance grew interested in the outcome. One by one he watched as the students made their ways to the light and he grew slightly disappointed. Failures. Each one had failed today's first portion of the test. One by one they would have reached their lights and one by one they had failed his test first test. Releasing his hold on the elements, the rain would stop and the scorpions would chirp, burrowing back beneath the earth. Matsu would be clad in his war gear opposed to the attire he'd worn when they came up to the surface. Intricate mask donned his face and hat upon his head, Matsu held his left hand upon the hilt of his blade which was sheathed in its scabbard. He would shake his head and sigh as he stood more or less in the middle of the area with each child more or less in a triangle around him. "Tell me why you all failed this task. Then, tell me what the lie was. Upon doing so I will tell you as to why you are right or wrong and we will return to below ground."

He would wait to hear their answers. He was curious as to what they might actually think both pieces to the puzzle were. He simply stood and waited, hand at the ready. It was possible that if they gave the wrong answer that there would be consequences. All they would be able to ascertain upon looking at him was that he was ready to brawl. With the scorpions out of the scenario it would be obvious who the danger was. He would nod his head and with his free hand make a gesture as if to begin. It was directed at no one in particular.|

Kiyoko watched in slight confusion as everything disappeared. She forced herself to stand upright, scanning her surroundings for her fellow classmates. Each girl stood a small distance away on either side of her at an angle, their teacher in the center of them all. She left her tears alone, not wanting her pain to be as obvious to everyone else. She was dripping from the onslaught of rain they had all experienced, and her kimono was heavier than before from the water weight.

The white-haired child thought deeply about what she believed the lesson for the first test was. She assumed that, since she had only followed the light, the other girls had done the same. Deciding to be the first to speak up, Kiyo cleared her throat to answer. "By following the light, we allowed ourselves to be led by something we knew nothing about. As for the lie... I don't think you are the worst teacher at the Academy. This is my first class, but that statement is an opinion thy should be made by each individual student. A good teacher is one you can learn something from." Although she was not confident she had given the right answer, Kiyoko believed every word she spoke was true. This was probably the most challenging thing she had ever done, but she knew she needed to force herself into situations she wasn't prepared for to learn how go prepare next time.

Given the way Matsu was standing, she felt there was a high chance he would fight them if they answered incorrectly. Kiyoko stripped off her now heavy kimono, leaving her in black shorts and a white, long-sleeved undershirt; she didn't want to be at as much of a disadvantage from not being able to move her arms. It also lessened the weight and strain on her already aching leg muscles. She didn't let her pain show on her face, instead narrowing her eyes at the strangely dressed teacher. She wanted to be as focused and prepared as possible in case her suspicion was correct. Kiyo then patiently awaited the other girls' answers, curious of what their ideas may be.

The girl was on edge the whole journey toward the floating light, it felt wrong and she knew something was up but unable to place her finger on it she continued along. Upon reaching it with no resistance from the scorpions she couldn't help but grin, she knew this was wrong and the land around her soon shifted back to the recognizable desert they'd started in, the three girls and the teacher stood between them. "Son of a bitch." She thought to herself as her stance relaxed back to normal and the electricity in her mouth discharged with a flash, she ran her tongue over her currently very dry teeth as he started to speak and her assumption was confirmed.

The younger, white haired girl was the first to speak, answering the question that had been forwarded to them. She was rather impressed that the two of them had come to similar conclusions and once it was her turn she spoke. "I agree, we assumed the light was good because we were surrounded by darkness. Willing to approach it simply because we associate one with evil and the other with good." This is what she'd realized upon her approach, she could have stopped and waited, ran the other way but she was far to stubborn to act upon her realizations and instead went through with the failure just because. "As for the lie, I agree with... Kiyoki? Mostly anyway, regardless of this class being a failure on our parts, we have at least learned valuable insight. One cannot truly learn and grow without knowing the sting of failure." She let out a snort from her nose and gave a confident nod. "I think both the light and your deceleration of your badness were both lies. You might be an asshole but hey so am I." She stuck out her tongue playfully. "I can at least tell you aren't bad at your job." She added.

Honestly though the experience had been short, she felt like she'd grown a little plus returning to the surface seemed to fill her with afresh lease of life. She still hated the fact that this was a failed class, she'd assumed she was beyond the academy now and this class was to prove just that, yet she'd failed and had this been a real mission it would have ended far worse.

[col]"Wrong. I told you to kill the scorpions. Instead, you tried to do something else. You went towards my lanterns instead of doing the job you were told." Matsu relaxed his stance. He removed the plague doctors mask from his face and the internal wrappings from his face. They would be able to see his completely tattooed face and head at that point. He had no eyebrows nor hair on his face outside. Only tattoos script in Runic Terran crossing most every inch of his body. Were one to look closely they would shift from time to time, rearranging the letters and characters as if warning or warding against something else entirely. "Secondly, I appreciate your kind words" A slight smile spread across his face. Perhaps a smirk? It was hard to tell with how rigid and uncaring he looked. "Opinions are subjective. The truth is there were no lies to the story. Every part of that story and explanation was true. I am a terrible teacher. You all, however, are good at taking lessons onto yourselves. The lie would be that you would be unable to take another class with me."

Matsu would reapply his cloth and place his mask back on once more. He would wave them on back the way they came. "Do as you wish. This class has concluded. I will see you at the academy again. Enjoy the surface, go home, cause problems. I don't care." Matsu would give a minor nod and off he would walk, deeper into the desert with his trappings affixed to him. He had a Carnasaur or two to find. They had materials he was looking for.

OOC; You all pass the class in terms of gaining rewards. ICly, Matsu has no disdain for you, but believes you all to have failed his lesson. [Topic Left / Class Over]|

Kiyoko let out a relieved breath when she realized they were not going to have any more fights to deal with. She smiled a bit brighter, her focus drifting as her more carefree side showed. She nodded as she listened to the truth behind his tests, disappointed that she hadn't caught on. However, at the thanks for her and the blonde's words, she was glad he had accepted their words. She had not known the man well enough to catch his lie, and she realized she had much more to learn. "Thank you, Takahashi-sensei," she spoke up, bowing respectfully to show how much she looked up to the man.

She then decided to simply return home, knowing she really needed to get back to her mother for dinner since it was her week to cook. The poor woman would be distraught over her daughter's exhaustion, but Kiyoko was glad she had been able to push this far past her weakness. She started back the way they had come, waving to each classmate as she passed. "Oh, the name's Kiyoko, by the way." She then continued her painful yet joyful walk back to her quaint little home to call it a day.

OOC: Thank you for the class! I really enjoyed this topic. I hope to take from you again! [Topic left]

Tekes eyes sank to the ground upon hearing the verdict of the class. She understood the point of the exercise though, instead of finishing their mission they fled to the light to try and save themselves which would be inexcusable in a real situation. "This has been an experience I can admit that, not quite as hectic as those sandwyrms underground but, I grow stronger every time I learn no matter the method." She grinned.

The girl was now finally free to... live, she waited for the teacher to leave before making a move herself but not before responding to the small girl. "Names Teke, take care of yourself and we may meet again." She said with a confident nod before giving a similar nod of acknowledgment over to Ayame. She'd happily spend the rest of the day up on the surface, just walking through the sands and taking all the sights, sounds and smells she'd missed so much.
