Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Name: Nōtamashī Yuuto
IC Rank: Academy Student
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Yuuto’s height is around the average for others his age, coming in at around 150 cm. Likewise, his weight is around 45 kg, like his fellows. His dark hair, kept at a somewhat long length, is a stark contrast to his fairly pale complexion, and the bright green of his eyes. The skin on his left arm was a charcoal grey, until he awakened his void powers.

Yuuto tends to wear long sleeved, more neutrally coloured clothes, plain and practical in design so they do not hinder him should he wear them during spars, missions or other such shinobi duties. One near-constant facet of his outfit are a pair of plain white gloves. While he may wear a different design due to being in disguise, for example, he is rarely seen without something covering his left hand. With his void powers now awakened, he no longer wears these gloves all the time.

Personality: When around people he is unfamiliar with, Yuuto will often seem relatively nonchalant towards them, perhaps attempting to seem at least a little invested in whatever they have to say should he feel the need to. The lack of bond forged between him and whoever this person should be can often mean he speaks in a blunter fashion than he does usually, however he may curb this, and his other less respectful mannerisms in certain circumstances, for example behaving with much more respect for a superior, or making an effort to seem more approachable should he take a liking to someone.

Around friends and people Yuuto is closer to, he opens up, becoming amicable and friendly, and caring far more about their troubles and successes. His tone tends to be less formal, especially when compared to how he behaves around superiors, due to feeling more relaxed and comfortable around them.

Yuuto could be viewed as perceptive for his age, possibly caused by how often he spends his time alone and him having effectively an extra being in his head. His time with the crew has left him with a burning desire for excitement to crop up in mundane life, and his mind will often spiral into tangents, daydreaming possibilities.
Onsei, the name Yuuto has assigned his guiding voice, craves the thrill of battle, the taste of victory, the sight of a defeated opponent. It cares not for honour or a fair fight, though it finds victory over someone far weaker to be dull and boring. It enjoys when strategies, set-ups and plans come to fruition, and is more than willing to chip in with ideas, all in pursuit of victory. Onsei’s help also allows Yuuto to focus more on his opponent, rather than wrack his brain calculating and planning.

Outside of combat, Onsei tends to stay quieter, though may chip in with a dry remark, or attempt to egg on the Nōtamashī into fighting, though these attempts usually fall upon deaf ears.
History:
Yuuto hails from the Nōtamashī clan; originally monks situated among the highest peaks of Kumogakure, a divisive move from their latest leader split them into the peaceful monks who remained in their mountaintop homes, and those who ventured into the hidden village with him, taking up the profession of shinobi.

A story within the Nōtamashī talks about their being descended from demons, and Yuuto’s relatives and himself seem proof of that, their genetics being more open to its influence. Each of them possess various demonic features, which begin to manifest around the age of 12. Be it coincidence or not, around this age also comes the development of a phenomenon displayed throughout the clan: the development of a ‘voice’ in their mind. This voice serves as a sort of guide to the Nōtamashī, for example helping them calculate movement patterns to aid them in taijutsu. As a result of Yuuto’s family being more receptive of their demonic blood, their voices tend to be more battle-hungry, and as such teach themselves and their children to be able to block it out during day to day life to avoid any unfortunate consequences.

Being among the first generation to be born in Kumogakure, Yuuto was born at a time where first impressions of the Nōtamashī clan were taking shape, but were still quite delicate. To this end, his parents attempted to make sure that he knew what rested on his shoulders, to try and make him be aware of this responsibility and handle it as best as he could, until a time where the clan was more readily accepted.

The Nōtamashī clan came down from their mountain home to become shinobi, so naturally, this profession was near-certain the path Yuuto would follow. Academy life was mostly average for him; there were some feelings of mistrust directed towards him, though he seemed to take it all in his stride. Yuuto would shine in taijutsu, also taking an interest in the illusions of genjutsu.

At the age of 12, as normal, the hallmarks of Yuuto’s lineage began to appear. All along his left arm, a charcoal grey colour spread across his skin, sometimes bursting into a larger and more jagged version of itself randomly. A pervading sense of dread seemed to follow him wherever he went, filling present company with fear. Inside his mind, a voice began to call out to him, lusting for blood and battle. With his power untrained and volatile, his parents wasted no time in making Yuuto less of an unpredictable threat. Their methods were temporary techniques used to 'lock’ his abilities for a certain amount of time, about a day, prevent him from causing wanton destruction by accidentally unleashing his demonic arm, or send a street of people fleeing through his aura. They accomplished this by infusing a concoction of their blood with their demonic chakra, shaped and funneled in a certain way, then having their son drink it. Their chakra-infused blood would 'restrain’ his power, mimicking their ability to properly control theirs. To keep the 'lock’ in place, the concoction would have to be drank everyday, allowing Yuuto's parents to control when his abilities were freed, giving them time to teach him proper mastery over them.

For all their concoctions designed to restrain Yuuto's powers, however, the voice, whom he had taken to calling Onsei, would not be silenced. It continued to try and convince the Nōtamashī to do as it wished, to try and goad him into seeking combat. As such, Yuuto's parents prioritised teaching him to fight its influence, to remain fully in control of his actions. There was no blood, chakra or other alternative way to teach him involved, just training in improving his mental fortitude against Onsei.

Yuuto's life changed entirely when he met Fukui Naohiro, becoming embroiled in his antics in a group known as the crew. His youkai nature put him at odds with Dokuso Maru, who had the ability to sense his demonic chakra, and the older man's seemingly unjust hatred make Yuuto in turn resent him.

At some point, members of the crew suddenly disappeared without a trace, and the antics came to an end. During this period of silence, Yuuto managed to awaken a new level of his demonic powers, tapping into the essence of nothingness itself. This did not come without drawbacks, however; his powers are uncontrolled and partially fill his own senses with nothing, and his original powers are fading.

Void Walker
VoidAdept.jpg

Strip away away all matter, and you are left with the empty vacuum of space. Strip away the very existence of reality, and you are left with a Void. This the understanding of the Void; it is not empty space waiting to be filled. It is the nonexistance of space in the first place. If the Void, by its nature, does not exist, then what of the Void Walkers? Even the most inflexible rules of reality can occasionally glitch, and it is in these hiccups that the Void Walkers draw their strength.

Spell Cancel - Independent Special Move (3 points)
Some would say spells cannot be canceled outright, merely counteracted. The Void Walker, however, may create momentary links to the non-space of the Void to overwrite spells with the aspect of the Void; nothingness.
Effect: For 2 AP, the user may choose to reflexively cancel an opponent's Ninjutsu. This may use any accuracy type the user chooses against the enemy's corresponding Dodge/Save stat. May be used once per round.
Notes:
- The cancelled action does not need to be an attack, but must be a Ninjutsu that is being either cast or maintained.
- Cancelled attacks spend normal AP and CP, but do not strike any target.
- A cancelled attack does not count as any kind of auto-miss or auto-fail.
- If a cancelled attack is the first strike of a combo, the rest of the combo proceeds as normal.
-
Spell Cancel is used as a conditional action, but does not use up one of the user's normal conditional slots.
Pressure Points - Independent Special Move (2 points)
The touch of a Void Walker is chilling, and may serve as a direct link between their target and the Void. This moment of contact, however brief, is enough to give their target a brief experience of the void; an act fundamentally incompatible to normal minds. Victims are left dazed and stunned, for reasons they cannot begin to comprehend.
Effect: As a reflexive action, the user may attempt to cancel an opponent's Taijutsu with a Taijutsu attack of their own (using the accuracy type of their equipped weapon, or, if they have none, either Melee or Ranged accuracy must be chosen). Should the user miss, the attack gains a +2 to hit. May be used once per round.
Notes:

Advanced Cancellation - Jutsu Modification (2 points)
Restriction- Requires Cancel
Knowledge is rooted in reality, and the nature of the Void is incompatible with normal minds. The Void Walker is not normal, even if they once were before they made contact with the Void. The same tricks which may fool a normal mind just may be spotted by the Void Walker.
Effect: Cancel may be used to reflexively negate a Genjutsu being cast on the user. This is treated like an Activated Auto-dodge. The user may not specify any details about the Genjutsu they wish this to apply to unless they have Clarity. The cast will cost normal AP for Cancel unless the user has Willpower, in which case it may be used as the user's free cast of Cancel that round. Regardless of whether or not the user has Willpower, this may be used successfully on any rank Genjutsu.
Extreme Understanding - Passive (1 point)
Restriction- Can be purchased up to three times
To would-be mental manipulators, the mind of a Void Walker is utterly foreign; whether this be madness or enlightenment is an unanswered question.
Effect: +1 Genjutsu Save
Secondary Nature - Dependent Special Move (2 points)
Manipulations come as second nature to the more tricky Void Walkers. The mind can be their plaything if they so choose to make it. The nature of their Genjutsu can be quite hazardous to those unprepared for mental assault.
Effect: When casting a Genjutsu, the user may add +10% CP to both the activation and maintain costs to have the opponent's Genjutsu Save treated as -2 lower on the defense roll against it.
Eclipse Blade - Dependent Special Move (3 points)
The edge of a weapon can be honed to a razor, nearly invisible when looked from the right angle. A Void user's weapon can take on qualities of their power and become partially not-there, letting them strike in a way they normally couldn't.
Effect: When attacking with their weapon, the user may pay +10% CP in order to have the attack target their enemy's Genjutsu Save instead of their Dodge.
Void Mirage - Independent Special Move (2 points)
By drawing a cloak of empty reality over themselves, the Void user can make their enemies think they are not really there, instead a trick of the light. Now you see them, now you probably don't.
Effect: For 10 seconds, the user cannot be targeted without the attacker passing a check of their Awareness against the user's Genjutsu Save. This applies to actions from allies (such as healing) as well as enemies. Does not effect other Void Walkers or those who are immune to Visual Genjutsu. Requires 10 seconds of cooldown after deactivation between uses.
Null Pressure - Passive (2 points)
Open chakra is the favourite target of the void itself, being life energy it can draw into itself easily and snuff out. It's no surprise a Void user can exert a tiny bit of that presence themselves to mimic the effect in part.
Effect: At the beginning of the battle, the user chooses up to three targets. These targets deal -10% damage with Ninjutsu while the user is conscious. This cannot affect other Void Walkers.
Yuuto is feeble and has no Kinjutsu
