Ryuuichi has always been a bit more flexible, faster, and overall agile. His smaller frame helped contribute to that but mixed in with a few years of training, that actually went a long way. He was much more nimble from his training. Being flat footed slowed him down and caused him to get hit more. Ryuuichi wasn't necessarily the most sturdy so being hit less was best for him. That was where his prior training came in. He was trained to better his strengths and his already nimble body would be good for being able to increase his speed even further to allow him to avoid attacks all together.

Jutsu Mastery:

When Ryuuichi was much younger it was obvious he had much more talent for ninjutsu than anything else. Taijutsu, Genjutsu, they both paled in comparison to his ninjutsu abilities. Through training and constant practice Ryuuichi over time has learned how to control his chakra better, thus being able to consume less and do just as much. With this he would in the long run be able to use even more Jutsu than he normally would be able to. It wasn't easy to do this though and it didn't happen over night. Ryuuichi trained for multiple years, honing his ninjutsu and practicing with it. His chakra Control improved dramatically compared to before he began his training which brought him to the level he is now.
