An audible, and visible, sigh escaped Junpei’s lips. The cold air was brisk and felt sharp against lungs. He was sure he had mentally ran over everything he would need, but he hadn’t considered the weather. It just kept getting colder; the temperature was dropping dramatically. He hadn’t even known what he didn’t know. He crossed his arms across his chest tightly, hugging his thin coat close to his body, trudging along the path that was getting noticeably sparse of foliage and vegetation. The lush forests of Leaf were definitely now well a thing of the past.
Where was he even going? He wasn't sure. He kept telling himself he was going to figure it out, but instead he just kind of... kept walking.
Things sure were different out on his own. He missed his parents. He missed his friends. He missed the stability of home and a steady income, though he was never without money. Instead of the income from the academy and missions, he had merely taken to capitalizing on his innate talents in the arts of sculpting, ceramics and illusions by performing live magic tricks on the street and selling different pottery pieces that depicted scenes of adult Leaf shinobi beating up academy students in an Art Nouveau styling.
Junpei pressed forward along the barren path. He hoped to find shelter soon, the Sun was already beginning to set. Against all odds he had made it this far, and that thought couldn't help but make him smile.
