Giving the Anbu Sennin his full attention, he found himself a tad surprised of everything he missed, from the Revolutionists themselves, to the Lycan, whom seemed to be nothing more than a byproduct in their war against the village. From how she put it, It was pretty straight forward and easy to understand. It was clear she wasn't giving him all the details, only hand picked ones. That was fine in his book. It wasn't as If he knew everything his own clan. The mention of the old kidnapping program and the Tenouzan War brought up old, vague memories, which felt almost like a eternity ago. He couldn't remember much, besides for the assault on his keep and the awakening of his eyes, and by extension, father and their forces being away during the incident. On the other hand, he had remembered the Pope of Tenouza, albeit barely, only remembering a few mentions of the man by a few veterans. Hearing mention of the old kidnapping program however made him remember reading about it in the old archives of his family's keep, or at least, from his clan side of thing. While he himself, wasn't around obviously for the negotiation, to decide whether or not he had any say in the matter, he knew his clan wasn't exempted from it, If only in the traditional sense. Due to his lack of administration and politics skills, as well as a litle history, there wasn't much he understood about this matter, much less be able to read in-between the lines. All he knew was when the Shogunate was killed, and many of the clans that supported him, were destroyed or forced into exile or something like that, his father had made numerous moves to keep their clan loyal to the village first, and the Shogun second, which ended up resulting in their clan being spared. Of course, he also remembered vaguely reading about his father making a deal with the Raikage to supplement the village with all those who possessed strong genetic or chakra abilities, so in a sense, he was always on the list. That didn't explain howe the hell he fell through the cracks after graduating the academy but there was no time to think about it now.
A few moments later however, and he found himself peering over at Lady Rei, and the folder she had been offered. Even though his superior had given him, and by extension, everyone, a generalized statement of what was presumably in the file, he still found himself wanting to read the file himself, not out of mere curiosity, but in case she had decided to leave anything out. He was sure she had her reasons, but any intel could potentially be useful. He wouldn't ask however, he wasn't foolish enough to do so, given his rank. Again, he knew better. If he would be allowed, either Lady Yuna or Lady Rei would simply hand it to him, and that simply wasn't the case at the moment. His mind came running back to the Lycan as soon as the Anbu Sennin began painting a large picture of what these beasts were and how they functioned. Despite the danger they posed as a beast of great respect, there was a part of him that was looking forward to meeting them on the battlefield. It wasn't too often he was challenged after all. Due to Kei with being him, he wasn't able to bring down that Roen, a massive lion-tiger hybrid of a beast, a while back. At least, he got to make a large fur scurf of sorts from cutting it's tail.
He returned his focus back on the Anbu Sennin when she turned back to his direction, staring him down in her mask. He nodded along in understanding, as she explained the unusual peace between them. By the time she reached the end, he found himself slightly confused, causing him to raise a eyebrow. Peace with rebels? Insurgents? That was a new one in his books. Whenever he came across said scum in his clan's lands, he would eliminate them or capture them without a second thought. Leaving them alone just....screamed a security risk his book, but Lady Yuna was the one in charge of village security for matters like this. He wasn't about to question her, especially when he knew he didn't have all the intel to move on such an action. He made another slight nod at her before she turned to Lady Rei once more, remaining silent as required.
Once he heard the actual mission briefing, as explained to Lady Rei, he had no strong opinion on the matter. Straight forward and simple perhaps, but It was sound enough for him to agree with, and for the others to understand. He was curious about team composition though. He was a Genin in rank, but he could fill just about any role with his diverse skill pool. He could even be a medical nin If the situation called for it, even If he hadn't had many chances to use said abilities on others. It had come in handy when often found himself banged up however. He had no idea who this "draconian" survivor was when Lady Yuna turned to he Genin next to him, but he'd figured he find out once they were in the field.
Than came what he hadn't been expecting. He was being offered a way OUT? As If it was optional? As If the mission was a optional thing? He froze in place for a moment there, his eyes blinking twice as his mind struggled to understand what she was saying. Why would he decline? To walk away from his duty? He lived his entire life dedicated to the sword and the duty it command from him. Walking away would shatter the vow he and his clan made long ago. He was a warrior of Kumogakure and a defender of the people of this country. He would not simply back away because It was difficult. If anything, his warrior blood boiled as a result, as determination filled his eyes, daring anyone to challenge his conviction. "You specifically requested my presence no? Under my obligations to my clan and Kumogakure, I have no reason...nor choice to object in this matter, Anbu Sennin. Use me as you see fit." He kept his focus and determination on the Anbu Sennin for a few more lingering moments, waiting for her to challenge him. His duty and commitment to the village would not be challenged. He wouldn't allow it, nor would he allow himself to be treated as a child worth protecting. Unlike the one next to him, he already had blood on his hands, having taken the lives of numerous people before, and having battled to the near death, being close to death's door on more than one occasion. It was simply a impossibility for him to go back to the way he was before. He was a cold blooded killer and there was nothing he could about it but accept what he was now.
Afterwards, having taken a long breath before releasing it in a loud exhale, he had remembered what the little one had said to him. Looking down her, she instantly reminded him of Kei again, and his need to harden him, to prepare for the cold world this world could be at times. His protective nature over those young still rung true in his body and mind, not wanting the youth to experience what he did. Finding a balance was something of a conflict within himself, but that couldn't stop from giving the student some advice, although he was sure she'd take it as him being too brutal. He made a faint smile as he spoke, trying his best to break the face he had just made, and failing miserably at it. "I may have not have much experience in being a shinobi, but as a warrior, I've been in more engagements than most, especially those of my age. Standing before death as a normalcy is a good way to prevent rattling....Of course, one shouldn't look for death unless they have no choice in the matter....." He whispered those words towards her before returning his focus back on the two Sennin. He meant what he said, and he hoped she could take away what she needed, though he could simply see her shrugging it off. It wasn't unusual for those in the village to call him crazy or out of touch with the times. Perhaps that was true, but he wouldn't change himself for the world. He sigh afterwards, quietly to himself as he waited for orders. "The battlefield may be chaotic and merciless, but while I still draw breath, I won't let you or anyone of our comrades to fall in battle, not while I'm still able to fight....Leaving a comrade to die by themselves is a fate worse than death itself...." He said those lowered, almost hushed words towards Nozomi, even as he kept his focus on the two women Infront of him. He was sure to get backlash If any one of them opened their mouths, given the life and responsibilities as a Shinobi, but his honor as a warrior, future leader and a informal sensei simply wouldn't allow it....
