Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Hello! Long time no see for some of us.

It's been a while since I've had to make a post in this forum but due to a recent misunderstanding I want to make something clear about the nature of IC positions of authority such as Kage and Sennin and sudden inactivity.

When a player that controls a character holding one of these positions goes inactive, they must be replaced for the good of the community so that others can rise to fill those positions even if they are positions of only IC authority. IC events cannot be allowed to stagnate or grind to a halt simply because a player in a position of IC power goes inactive. What this boils down to mean is that if someone in one of those positions goes inactive then their character is generally automatically have be assumed to missing in action (not to be confused with the status of being a Missing-nin).

This isn't so much a rule as a matter of standard practice-- it would be unreasonable and unfair to say that anyone in a position of IC authority automatically yields creative authority over what their character does or why they aren't around to their council when they go inactive and yet an explanation must exist to some level to maintain even a small sense of continuity when the position is filled by another player character. Hence-- they are MIA without explanation. This is something that has, in a general sense, always been true and is a practice that has been put to use many times in the past across the various villages we have currently and the ones we've have in the past to explain Kages, Sennin or even ANBU Captains or Medic Chiefs going inactive suddenly.

That all having been said, there is nothing preventing a player in one of these positions from working with their council either before they go inactive or when they return to explain where their character has been or why they needed to be replaced but that is a matter to be worked out between the player in question and the respective council. It should also probably go without saying (but for the sake of it having been said...) you are never guaranteed to return to a position of IC authority you held before you went inactive when you return from inactivity. As always I would encourage you to be open-minded during these sorts of discussions whether you be on the side of the player returning from inactivity or on the side of the council handling the return from inactivity.

This isn't really a rules update (because ultimately this is pretty much always how it's been handled in the past) nor is it intended to chastise anyone in particular but ultimately it is intended to be a public service announcement regarding the nature of these types of positions and how sudden inactivity is handled to prevent further misunderstandings in the future regarding it.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about this topic you can reach out to myself or to Keiji and we would be happy to clear those up for you.

Until next time, thanks!
