"
You'd be correct, Tatsu-kun, to believe this is here for more practical reasons and not a place to get on your nerves. I mainly asked you out here because this is the kind of environment that you'll be employing these skills," she said as she shifted once more. "
Yes, I seem to have a bad habit of getting either the lumpy or the sharper logs to sit on," she explained. Comparing her lumpy log to the one meant for Tatsu, her's was far more jagged and annoying to have a seat upon. This student was extremely vigilant to an almost horrifying level. Her level of observation was keen, much more keen than his, but him having that level of sensory mastery was scary; and at his age, no less.
After explaining the three things needed, in terms of burning things (excluding the need for an ignition source and oxygen), she started to make her way towards the thing she wanted to show him only to be stopped by a question. She paused, stopping herself from continuing forward and looked up in thought. "
It only took me a few years to get to Jounin. I had more than enough experience before joining the academy to help me rise to Jounin pretty quickly," she mentioned. She left out the parts of her being a child-soldier and other 'skills' that came with that and other unassociated skills that she picked up along the way. If she were to have someone to thank her for being the shinobi she is now, it would be the one that tortured her and abused her into being the efficient killer that she is now. But that information isn't something the child needed to know.
"
The rank of Jounin is the most diverse rank you'll find in the village. Some have different skill-sets. Some are more geared towards politics while others are more geared towards killing," she mentioned, fitting into the latter of the two that she mentioned. "
Or you have your run-of-the-mill jobbers who do nothing but work sent to them from outside groups. I guess you can say, that a Jounin's strength relies on their specialty," she explained. She wasn't very strong in a large skirmish, better off in a one-vs-one scenario. Her skill-set involves getting in, killing the target, and exfiltrating without too much notice. Fighting in a village versus village scenario isn't her strong-point.
With that said, she continued forward to show the student different forms of tinder ranging from more of the moss that she showed Tatsu to tried bark that peeled off of some trees. She also had him gather some twigs and branches as well as small logs to use as the fuel. After everything was gathered, she returned to the campsite and set everything down.
"
Before building your fire, you'll need to set all of this up first. What I like doing is setting up the fuel, the big stuff, at the bottom of the pile," she said as she placed all of the fuel at the bottom of the already established fire-pit. On top of that, she placed the kindling on top of it before finally holding the tinder in her hand. "
It's just easier this way, so this is why I do it. Do you know why I put everything like this?" she asked, expecting an answer from the boy.
