Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.
Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.
Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.
The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.
This is Ninpocho Chronicles.
Current Ninpocho Chronicles Time:
- Early Life: Sojobo wanted to help people as a child, and at a young age learned he was a demon from a powerful bloodline. He was still new, not capable of understanding the gravity of what that meant. He had no idea what he was capable of, nor did he know how he was different from a human. He swore to do good, and not fit the stereotype, and as such he became a Med-Nin.
- A Visit: Sent off on a mission, Sojobo went to an allied shinobi village. However, things took a turn when a ninja from his home village arrived and bombed the Kage Tower. As it turns out, this was a ninja who had left the village and gone rogue. Sojobo was ordered to stay in this village and try to maintain relations while investigating the matters. He was left there for about a year with no communication. Eventually, he decided it was time to go home as no response came. Upon arriving at the gates, a corrupt ANBU Sennin took offense to Sojobo's year-long absence, and exiled him. This drove Sojobo into a new stage of his life.
- Senkaku: Sojobo developed a split personality disorder. This alter ego, Senkaku, was straightforward and very indulgent in pleasure. Senkaku traveled the world, as Sojobo hid deeper within his own mind to escape his sadness. He encountered a ghost of which he grew affection for, and begun a friendship. At the time, he could not have expected where this friendship would lead.
- The Dark Side: Somewhere in his travels, Sojobo learned something new about himself. He had visited nearly every major shinobi village and decided to complete his journey. Before he made it, however, something strange happened. He met himself. It was then that he learned that he had developed the Rinnegan a long time ago, and a mentor who also shared the eyes had found him. This man claimed to be part of the Seven Swordsman, and would train Sojobo. However, as part of the deal, Sojobo would take over a body of a man he killed. Thus, being two separate people, the swordsman would inscribe a seal upon him that would separate the two bodies. He was literally living years of his life as two different people without even knowing. This explained the split personality disorder, and upon regaining this control and willpower, he understood himself. He was not a single entity anymore, but a consciousness that drifted among vessels. It was years before this awakening happened. When it did, it was because his mentor died. Sojobo, blames himself for his death, as he was unable to help in the most crucial moment. He likely won't talk about it, but nobody besides himself even knows that it happened. This body of Sojobo's became the new Fire Swordsman of the Seven.
- The Summit: In Sojobo's visit to the final major shinobi village, he met with his friend again. Here they hatched a plan to start a new shinobi state, where democracy would rule and shinobi would work FOR the people, not control them. They determined a location for it, and set off to make it happen. It was to be the new hope for everyone in this horrible world of shinobi, or so they believed.
- Back Home: Sojobo was eventually pardoned by his village leader. It was revealed that a corrupt Sennin banished him in the first place, and thus he was never truly gone. He was offered a spot back in the ranks, and he accepted it then. He knew, deep down, that he would eventually leave and start his new village. But for then, he was back home. It wasn't enough for him. He was dissatisfied with how things had changed. His old friends were gone, as is the shinobi way. He didn't recognize the place, or himself.
- A Separate State: Sojobo had adopted a student, almost as a son. In reality, he and his ghost girlfriend could never actually have children. This son, was a prodigy. He was who Sojobo hoped would succeed him in the future. Eventually, the day came and they fled, going rogue. Sojobo brought his son with him, and ensured his safe escape (as they were almost stopped at the gates). They went to their new village, where a hired shinobi had erected towers of rock from the Earth. Here they laid the seeds for the foundation of their new village. It grew in popularity fast, and the day came.
- The Election: They held an election, for Kage. This was unheard of in other states. Sojobo won. He was the first Kage of this new village. Unbeknownst to everyone, he would be the last.
- The End: When the day came, Sojobo seemed to be prepared. It's as if he knew the fall was coming, and was just keeping things together so that people could remain calm. It was sad because he spent all those years planning, and then only had a few years to run the village before it collapsed. In a final act he used his Rikudo Sennin paths to seal up the Three Fountain Palace, the seat of the government, so that it could be retained for the future. It was a beautifully crafted masterpiece of a structure that combined a twisted trio of the stone towers with the futuristic architecture of their finest workers. More than that, it was a symbol of what could have been. This was a major failure for Sojobo, and perhaps the most crushing of all things that happened to him. The village is now a shell of what it used to be, hidden so well (and so forgotten) that nobody even remembers how to get there. Nobody except for Sojobo, that is.
- Present Day: Sojobo awakens in the Diamond Maelstrom outside Sunagakure, considering himself a failure in all respects. Exiled from his home village, he swore to protect it from the outside. Then, he founded his own village, and failed to protect it as its leader. In depression, he goes absent-minded and forgets about his original village. He returns to see it completely destroyed, annihilated in his absence. Barely even a single memory remains there. He had two villages, and failed to protect either one of them. As one of the strongest shinobi who ever lived, Sojobo feels that he is the worst kind of failure. Then a few years seemed to just vanish. He couldn't figure it out, but one day he just woke up with memory loss. The details of his recent life were more or less erased, and he was confined to a single body. There were no paths, no anything. No traces of his prior life remained, and now he struggles to identify who he is.
- Early Life: Sojobo wanted to help people as a child, and at a young age learned he was a demon from a powerful bloodline. He was still new, not capable of understanding the gravity of what that meant. He had no idea what he was capable of, nor did he know how he was different from a human. His father began to train him. He grew up in a farming village in a hidden oasis in the desert area around Sunagakure. At a young age his village was attacked and destroyed, leaving only burnt remains of what it used to be. He blamed himself for the failure. He was the prodigy son, incredibly strong, and he was supposed to protect the village in his father's absence. He failed.
- A Restart: While he never confirmed that his parents died, he also hasn't seen them since. He went to Sunagakure at the age of 12, determined to not to be the usual demon. He swore to do good, and not fit the stereotype, and as such he became a Med-Nin. He was doing incredibly well, but something bad happened. During his work, he was sent on a mission with his team. These were the only people he really talked to on a regular basis. If anything, they were his friends. It was supposed to be a simple recon mission, but turned into a struggle that Sojobo will never forget. At least, he thought he would never forget. Somehow, over the years, the details of this incident have left him. All he knows is that at the end, he was the only squad member remaining.
- Senkaku: Sojobo developed a split personality disorder. This alter ego, Senkaku, was straightforward and very indulgent in pleasure. Senkaku traveled the world, as Sojobo hid deeper within his own mind to escape his sadness. He encountered a ghost of which he grew affection for, and begun a friendship with a man nicknamed "Bear". At the time, he could not have expected where this friendship would lead.
- The Dark Side: Somewhere in his travels, Sojobo learned something new about himself. He had visited nearly every major shinobi village and decided to complete his journey. Before he made it, however, something strange happened. He met another shinobi who had the Rinnegan. This triggered a memory, and he flashed back the remembering that he too posessed the Rinnegan. He learned that he had developed the Rinnegan a long time ago, and a mentor who also shared the eyes had found him. When it did, it stalled Sojobo's path on an important mission with his mentor. This ended in the death of the Fire Swordsman. Sojobo, blames himself for the death, as he was unable to help in the most crucial moment. He likely won't talk about it, but nobody besides himself even knows that it happened. This body of Sojobo's became the new Fire Swordsman of the Seven.
- The Summit: In Sojobo's travels, he met with his friend Bear again. Here they hatched a plan to start a new shinobi state, where democracy would rule and shinobi would work FOR the people, not control them. They determined a location for it--the hidden farming village oasis Sojobo grew up on--, and set off to make it happen. It was to be the new hope for everyone in this horrible world of shinobi, or so they believed.
- A Separate State: Sojobo had adopted a student, almost as a son. In reality, he and his ghost girlfriend could never actually have children. This son, was a prodigy. He was who Sojobo hoped would succeed him in the future. Sojobo remained a Sunagakure shinobi, but decided to simultaneously create this village in secret. Sojobo brought his son with him. They went to their new village, where a hired shinobi had erected towers of rock from the Earth. Here they laid the seeds for the foundation of their new village.
- The Election: They held an election, for Kage. This was unheard of in other states. While his village wasn't really recognized, or established as a major shinobi village, they still felt proud in their work. Sojobo won the election. He was the first Kage of this new village. Unbeknownst to everyone, he would be the last.
- The End: When the day came, Sojobo seemed to be prepared. It's as if he knew the fall was coming, and was just keeping things together so that people could remain calm and believe in his failed dream. It was sad because he spent all those years planning, and then only had a few years to run the village before it collapsed. In a final act he used his Rikudo Sennin paths to seal up a vault which held valued artifacts of his life here in the farming village. It was a reminder for himself. More than that, it was a symbol of what could have been. This was a major failure for Sojobo, and perhaps the most crushing of all things that happened to him. The village is now a shell of what it used to be, overrun by sand.
- Present Day: Sojobo awakens in Sunagakure, considering himself a failure in all respect. His home village was destroyed under his protection. Then, he founded his own village on the shell of what his village used to be, and failed to protect that too as its leader. In depression, he goes absent-minded. As one of the strongest shinobi who ever lived, Sojobo feels that he is the worst kind of failure. Then a few years seemed to just vanish. He couldn't figure it out, but one day he just woke up with memory loss, realizing that he spent the last few years just being a shell of a person.
At the time, he was studying to become a shinobi in Sunagakure. He was but a student, unsure of what he really wanted to do. He was still new, not capable of understanding the gravity of what it meant that he was a demon. He had no idea what he was capable of, nor did he know how he was different from a human. His father began to train him. Every so often, his father would take him outside of Sunagakure to a hidden oasis in the desert area around Sunagakure. Here they would train for extended periods at a time, farming the land to stay fed. Sojobo quickly became a prodigy, and once his father deemed him strong enough to handle his own, things started changing. First his father would start harboring people in the oasis. Why this was the case was unknown to Sojobo. Were they criminals; were they spies? They didn't seem much like shinobi. One day, his father was sent off on a mission and asked Sojobo to go to the oasis and protect it in his absence. He did as he was told, and went there. He spent three nights sleeping there with no incident, but when he woke up on the fourth day something was wrong. In his sleep, he managed to miss a raid on the oasis that left much of the farm destroyed and the little straw huts burnt. All of the people that were staying there were either dead or missing. He blamed himself for the failure. He was the prodigy son, incredibly strong, and he was supposed to protect the place in his father's absence. He failed.
- A Restart: While he never confirmed that his parents died, he also hasn't seen them since. He left Sunagakure at the age of 12 to protect the oasis and on his return home he found his family missing. Even his house was just an empty shell of what it used to be, most of the personal touches (including a lot of furniture) were gone. He swore to do good, and not fit the stereotype of being a demon, and as such he became a Med-Nin. He was doing incredibly well, but something bad happened. During his work, he was sent on a mission with his team. These were the only people he really talked to on a regular basis. If anything, they were his friends.
All he knew is that of all the people in the world, Bear was the most genuine he had ever met.
This explained the split personality disorder, and upon regaining this control and willpower, he understood himself. He was not a single entity anymore, but a consciousness that drifted among vessels. It was years before this awakening happened. The awakening was triggered because this man he met as another shinobi who possessed the Rinnegan was actually his other path. When this moment happened, it stalled Sojobo's path on an important mission with his mentor. This ended in the death of the Fire Swordsman of the Seven (or so he claims). Sojobo blames himself for the death, as he was unable to help in the most crucial moment. He likely won't talk about it, but nobody besides himself even knows that it happened. Sojobo swore he would uphold the code that his mentor had taught to him and carry on the will of the Fire Swordsman.
- The Summit: In Sojobo's travels, he met with his friend Bear again. Here they hatched a plan to start a new shinobi state, where democracy would rule and shinobi would work FOR the people, not control them. They determined a location for it--the hidden farming oasis Sojobo trained in at a younger--, and set off to make it happen. He was who Sojobo hoped would succeed him in the future. Sojobo remained a Sunagakure shinobi, but decided to simultaneously create this village in secret. Sojobo brought his son with him. They went to their new village, where every plan they made fell into shambles.
- The Election: They held an election, for Kage. This was unheard of in other states. While his village wasn't really recognized and only was made up of about 10 people pulled together, they still felt proud in their work. But it backfired. During the election, a masked figure appeared. He would not claim a name or representation, he only came for one thing. Sojobo's son. While Sojobo's son was giving a speech this masked figure appeared behind him. He moved so fast that not even Sojobo could stop him. A blade appeared, and chopped his son's head off cleanly. Then the masked man declared, "If you continue down this path of establishing a new shinobi state, this will be your fate." Just like that, the man vanished, leaving Sojobo defeated.
- The End: Despite Bear's best efforts, Sojobo gave up. It wasn't just giving up on the village, it was giving up on life itself. The weather agreed with him on this point, as the oasis would slowly die and be replaced by sand. When Sojobo left, he was about 22 years old. The next time he returns there he will find barely any memories. Only sand.
- Present Day: Sojobo awakens in Sunagakure, considering himself a failure in all respect. The people in the oasis died under his protection. To make things worse, his family disappeared shortly after. He attempted to create his own village on the shell of the oasis, and that led to him failing to protect his own adopted son. In depression, he goes absent-minded for years. These years seemed to have just vanished. One day he woke up and realized how much of his life he had just wasted. He returns to his senses, and barely even a single memory remains there. As one of the strongest shinobi who ever lived, Sojobo feels that he is the worst kind of failure. The details of his recent life were more or less erased, and he was confined to a single body. There were no paths, no anything. - Early Life: Nataku was always the kind-hearted child and wanted to help people as much as he could. His younger brother, Miroku, was just the opposite. Somehow they got along. Born to a noble family, Nataku wanted for very little and discovered at a young age that he was a different from almost everyone else. His mother was a skilled doctor and former Med-nin of Sunagakure, and she was the first to notice. Proud of how intelligent her son was she decided to send him to the Toraono Dojo where he could learn to defend himself and study medicine like she did as a shinobi in Sunagakure. Nataku had always felt out of place and frequently felt his mind expand beyond his body. He was still new to life, not capable of understanding the gravity of what it meant to be what he was. He had no idea what he was capable of, nor did he understand how different he truly was from a normal human. During his stay at the Toraono dojo his actions during sparring sessions attracted the attention of the Grandmaster of the Dojo. Toraono Kaibudo began his initial strength training noticing that Nataku was a lot like his youngest son Kuro. Every so often, Kaibudo would send Nataku on training missions in the desert with various teachers to promote a balance between his medical studies and his martial arts which came to rely on swordsmanship. During one training session Nataku stumbled across a hidden oasis that somehow called to him. The animals in this oasis seemed to resonate with him and it was there he met a true Youkai. He would return to this oasis on his own and would train there for extended periods of time. He learned to farm the land to stay fed, he learned to hunt the stronger beasts that would have thought he was prey, using their folly for meat. Nataku quickly became a strong and well-rounded medic/swordsman, and once his mother deemed him strong enough to handle his own life, things started changing. He was sent to live with his father in Soon and it was there he would undertake secret training sessions.
- Training Years: His father always taught him that his greatest asset was that nobody knew of his true strength. To everyone else, he was a successful doctor trained by medics from Sunagakure. Secretly he was the heir to his father’s vast fortune and empowered by the blood of his demonic ancestors. His role in the shinobi world was largely a backseat role; he would occasionally heal the shinobi who requested his assistance for pay and those from Suna for free. Thus, all his father’s enemies would underestimate him, and he would have a natural advantage. He swore to do good, and not fit the stereotype of being demon blooded, and as such he hid his demonic powers and carefully practiced medicine in the open and even more carefully in the shadows. He was doing incredibly well, but one day something bad happened. He developed a relationship with a team of shinobi that had lost their medic to a sandwyrm. Every now and them, he would help them out.
- Failure: During one of his trips to assist a Nomad Clan near the Mountain region, he had the opportunity to assist this team of shinobi. These were ninja he had gotten to know on a regular basis from their frequent outings and as such they knew he was a great medic and capable swordsman. If anything, they were his friends. It was supposed to be a simple gathering and distribution of supplies mission, but it turned into a struggle that Nataku swore he would never forget. At least at the time he thought that way. The trauma of the massive battle with strange warriors of elemental power damaged not only his body but his psyche as these warriors wiped out his team and much of the nomadic tribe he had come to help. Flashes of the battle echoed through his mind where he had been confronted by a strange lightning wielding warrior whom had all but killed him. Nataku survived the attack through muscle memory alone. The women of the tribe whom found him told him that he had been struck by lightning over and over but refused to fall and kept lashing out with his sword giving them the chance to flee and hide. He took little solace in that since over 60% of their 210 person tribe had been slaughtered along with his friends because he had not been strong enough in his mind. Over the years, the details of the attack seemed to fade away from him. All he remembered was that at the end, he was the only squad member remaining. The memory would latch onto his mind like a long lost lover at the oddest times. Each time the memory resurfaced Nataku believed that it was his fault and failure to perform as a Med-Nin that led to the tragedy.
- The Dark Side: His father would later tell him that it was his lack of awareness that led to their defeat, and that if he had mastered his darkside then he would have been more than capable. The despair shattered his mind causing Nataku to develop a split personality disorder. This alter ego, Senkaku, was straightforward and very indulgent in pleasure and vengeance. Senkaku was outgoing, as Nataku hid deeper within his own mind to escape his sadness over his perceived failure. He encountered a woman of which he grew to care for, and began a friendship with her. Her nickname was “Kuma (Bear)” and that was how he referred to her. They were acquaintances from the academy, but once her squad died as well they became closer as Senkaku was there to comfort her. All he knew is that of all the people in the world, Bear was the most genuine he had ever met.
- The Awakening: While working on treatments for some children with Sandwyrm fever, Nataku learned something new about himself. He ran into Kuro briefly and noted that he had a demonic power within his eyes. This triggered a flood of memories, and he flashed back the remembering that he too possessed eyes like Kuro. When he was a child he had been able to turn the Rinnegan on and off and then as he hid his abilities like his father had taught him. How had he forgotten something so primal to himself. Nataku talked with Kuro for a while and actually received a full explanation on how Kuro called upon his expanded existence. Taking it to heart he began to study himself once more and push the boundaries within his mind to find what he had lost within himself. He found himself searching for more forms of weapons training to push himself.
- Sensei: He found a master near the edge of Wind Country near a gambling hall of great renown. He claimed he could teach Nataku the way of Heaven’s Sword. He was lying to Nataku, convincing him that he was part of a larger organization with a code and set of values, only to learn later that he was just advancing personal agenda. He did, however, have the foresight to know that Nataku could be an incredibly dangerous swordsman who needed a set of values to control his potential. As part of the deal, Nataku would take over the body of a man he killed, and use that to constantly train with his new sensei. After explaining this to Kuma, they came to the conclusion that this swordsman was the man that had killed Bear’s squad on their resupply mission. The seals he used were like those of the elemental warriors he had fought to a standstill long ago. Nataku still had unexplained memory loss, never knowing it was an alternate personality that caused it. Senkaku had long ago learned to inscribe a seal upon himself that would separate his consciousness into different bodies, dividing his soul among them. Nataku was literally living years of his life as two different people without even knowing. Until mastering the seal himself he had never known he had a split personality disorder. Upon regaining this control and willpower, he understood himself. He was not a single entity anymore, but a consciousness that drifted among vessels.
- Fleeting: Fate struck again, as Senkaku's path had been on an important mission for his sensei. Nataku was at work experimenting with seals and managed to unlock the one Senkaku had created. This caused an unintended consequence: Senkaku's path suddenly stopped existing. It just dropped, a lifeless corpse. This, in turn, interrupted the important mission. As a result of this, his mentor did was not able to be warned of the attack and perished at the hand of enemy shinobi. As Senkaku saw it, this was the same guy that had killed Bear's squad and so he didn't feel bad. Senkaku might have killed him himself. Nataku however blames himself for yet more death, as he was unable to help someone in their most crucial moment. He likely won't talk about it, but nobody besides Senkaku even knows that it happened. Nataku swore he would uphold the code that his mentor falsely imprinted upon him.
- The Second Loss: Nataku returned to Sunagakure now and then as he had begun a romantic relationship with his friend Bear. All this time, he had managed to keep the extreme strength he possessed a secret from even his closest friends and his mother. He was mostly quiet with his mother, rarely getting involved in politics and regular civilian behavior. He came off as socially reserved. With Kuma, he was outgoing and bubbly. Even she didn’t know, but she found out one day. Nataku found out Kuma was being sent on a secret mission that was supposed to be extremely dangerous. Naturally, she didn’t tell Nataku about it, but he had his ways. He followed her, keeping an eye on her from time to time making sure she remained safe. His watchful eye wasn’t enough, as a three man team of shinobi surrounded her. He could barely even flinch before he was forced to watch her get impaled from behind with a sword, two more blades flashed each striking vital points her heart, spine, and lungs were all pierced in milliseconds. That was it, no witnesses on the street except Nataku at a distance, just as Bear’s body began slumping to the ground. One of the masked shinobi turned and looked at Nataku and said, “If you continue down this path Doctor, this will be your fate.” Nataku was desolate as dark rage filled his entire being. Discovered he leaped out from his hiding spot and attacked. He was much stronger than these masked shinobi could have ever anticipated. Nataku did something he had never done before, he transformed into his full demon form and ripped them apart, spreading their remains across the sand. Then he went to ‘Bear’ and tried to use his Medical Jutsu to save her. It was a too late, and he knew it as he smelled the sour –sweet stink of carmot laced poison, it wasn’t just destroying her blood cells it was eating her chakra so she couldn’t resist it. Her last words to him were, “You’re pretty scary…” as a weak smile appeared on her face. Then she died, there in the sand cradled in his demonic arms. This is the last memory Nataku remembers. The last time he felt emotion. The last time he felt anything.
- Present Day: Nataku awakens in Sunagakure, considering himself a failure in all respects. He could not protect the ones he loved. In depression, Nataku allowed Senkaku to take over his mind and goes absent-minded for years. Then the Cabal attacked. One day he woke up buried in rubble just beneath the remains of the Kazekage’s tower. Nataku returns to his natural senses at the age of 24, and only the memories of his training remain. What happened to the last few years? Nataku feels that he is the worst kind of failure. The details of his life as Senkaku are still hidden from Nataku but for how long? He was confined to a single body again. There was little else to do than to start rebuilding.
