Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Hello! Going through the OCR process as described in the previous post. I don't remember exactly how to do a reboot so I'll just post my original character creation application below.

EDIT: Apologies in advance for not including any of my old jutsu, stats, etc. It's been so long I can't remember what I had. But let me know what I need to find or fix and I'll do so ASAP. Really excited to be diving back into the world of NC.

Name: Tsuji Tamiko

Age: 13

Physical Description: Tamiko is on the shorter end, at five feet two inches tall and one hundred and two lbs. Thick and fine brunette hair that drops to her lower shoulder area but she keep it up with two pins - typically for most of the day. Large brown eyes with above average sclera give her the appearance of being "doe-like" (although don't let her hear you say that.) Most often seen in a deep pink kimono with a cream-beige flower pattern decorating the arm sleeves and tracing the hem guard. Sandals with a red strap and her Konoha headband settled with quiet pride on her right shoulder. She is known to have a more quiet and gentle pace - her movements subtle, and a smooth and fair complexion with a faint rose hue across the cheeks.

Mental Description: The three core tenets that define Tamiko and her personality are curiosity, determination (reading this profile post fills you with a strange sense of it), and honesty. She adored her time at the academy - her desire to learn new things and make sense of the world she inhabits is the main reason she marks her presence. Each lesson, every discussion, and every new concept contributes to the mosaic of her growing identity. She is determined and driven to do what she feels and believes is right, although her youth often can intertwine with this belief showing a lack of wisdom and experience. Whether she's tackling an academic project or standing firm on a moral issue, her persistence is palpable. Honesty is her desire to always tell the truth, even and especially when painful to do so. It’s a characteristic that often sets her apart, as her openness can be both refreshing and challenging for those who might not share the same level of transparency.

History: "Konoha is an important and sacred place, my dear granddaughter. You must always hold it in your heart," were the last words her gram had said to her before her induction into the ninja academy. Tamiko had been orphaned in a strange sense. Her father had been a Chuunin of the village and a member of the Yamanaka clan, with brilliant golden hair - what a shame she hadn't been born with it. Her mother, an attendant at a local hotel, had loved her father dearly. Yet, when sent on a mission, he never returned. His body was never found, and there was never any evidence of foul play, as if he had found whispers of a better life somewhere else. Her mother was struck with depression and tried to follow in his footsteps, placing Tamiko in the care of her loving grandmother. She didn't hold anything against her mother; every being deserves the grace to make their own choices in life. Nevertheless, this gave her a distinct and solid link to the Yamanaka clan of shinobi, although whether they would accept her and share their secrets was still up in the air.

It was a cousin and low-ranking member of the medical corps who advocated for her entrance into the academy. It was then that she learned of her heritage and the story surrounding her mother's disappearance. There was some hesitation from her grandmother but she was quickly persuaded (never discredit the love of a grandmother concerned for her safety). Throughout her early training, her cousin -Yamanaka Kohana - would often stop by to show her little things about botany, chakra control, and maintaining her health to be at her best.

Her time in the academy flew by, at least in the temporal sense, yet she cherished the memories and experiences she gained there. As an average student, she never particularly stood out, but her natural drive and desire to keep learning kept her fascinated and her instructors pleased. She had a natural inclination for Genjutsu techniques, though this came as no surprise to those who knew her father. The best way she was able to describe it was that the "petals of the mind" just made sense to her. Graduating in the middle of the pack and receiving her headband and registration form, she stood ready to mark her place in the shinobi world alongside the honorable and fearsome ninjas she would count among her peers.

Bloodline/Core Ability: Yamanaka

After discussing your application, the Council has decided to deny it for now. Here’s why:

1. Bloodline Rules:
To apply for a bloodline that doesn’t show from birth, you need to include at least a 200-word scene showing a traumatic event, time spent training, deep admiration, or family history connected to the bloodline. This should go in your village's request forum.

Your writing was lovely, but the Yamanaka abilities are only lightly mentioned. For example, you wrote:
Throughout her early training, her cousin -Yamanaka Kohana - would often stop by to show her little things about botany, chakra control, and maintaining her health to be at her best.

We’d love to see you expand on this more. Show us how this shaped your character’s connection to the bloodline.

Also, remember: You don’t need to pick a bloodline or core ability right away! You can always roleplay your character discovering her heritage later. When that time comes, you can submit a 200-word traumatic event (solo or with another player) and apply again.

2. Genin Rank Mention:
You mention that she became a Genin, but it’s a little vague. Even if she was average, we’d still love to hear about her natural talent for Genjutsu! What was her Genin exam like? Was it tough, or did she pass easily? A bit more detail and some of her personal thoughts would really help bring this part of her story to life.

Take your time, and don’t hesitate to ask any Council member, staff, or fellow player if you need help. Once you've revised your application, we’ll be happy to review it again!

Hello! Thank you very much for the review, I'm definitely a bit rusty! Here is a revised application in the spoiler, the physical appearance/mental description will be the same but with a completely new history.

History: Snow fell, a quiet softness covering the ground broken only by the pained labors of a woman giving birth in a neat little wooden cabin hidden in the forest on the fringes of the gates of Konoha. The neat little flower beds that normally brought color and vibrancy to their home covered with a subdued layer of snow. Bustling midwives grabbing and ringing out cloth - demonstrating tender gentleness but also firm conviction to ease the woman through her labors. With a final gasp and a tense silence filling the room, a midwife swaddled the young babe and handed it to her mother. Cradling her baby in her arms a smile broke out - "I think I'll call her Tamiko" she whispered gently. However while she bonded with her baby the midwives gathered in a hushed group. "Who is the father?" one whispered. "I'm not sure, I don't think anyone in the village knows." They giggled gently, casting a particular gaze over to the new mother and perhaps a subtle head shake or two as they disappeared into the night.

Her father had been an envoy between Konoha and a couple small villages dotted throughout the Land of Fire. Mostly diplomatic aid missions providing food and supplies for the less fortunate. His name was Yamanaka Itsuki. It had been true, very few knew of Tamiko's true ancestry. Rather than bring shame to the Yamanaka clan, it was agreed that Tamiko would be raised subtly and not told of her heritage until such a time that she would understand it. Among the few that knew were her grandmother and her cousin - a young and beautiful blonde haired medical ninja named Yamanaka Kohana. It had been decided early that Kohana would act as confidant for the youngling. First - see if she had any natural talents to becoming a shinobi, and second if she did to help develop those skills so that one day she could hopefully embrace her heritage freely and proudly.

"Konoha is an important and sacred place, my dear granddaughter. You must always hold it in your heart." Tamiko would hear this constantly from her doting grandmother as she aged into the academy. It was this lesson that followed Tamiko into the academy, and she did indeed always hold it close to her heart. Her overall time in the academy seemed to fly by, in the temporal sense at least - her natural curiosity and eagerness to learn that kept her instructors pleased. While not exactly excelling at any one skill. She took a great liking to the illusionary techniques of Genjutsu. "Oh the petals of the mind." She would often say, little other context being provided much to the chagrin of her instructors.

Her cousin Kohana was introduced as a family friend very early into Tamiko's life, forming a natural bond despite the plans that had been set in motion years before. Kohana was a forgiving teacher, showing her many things that they didn't teach in the academy. Controlling her chakra, how to maintain her personal health, basic shurikenjutsu and kunaijutsu. One thing in particular (and one that Tamiko gravitated to like a bumble bee in a field of sunflowers.) How to tend and garden many different types of botanicals. At first - simple - basic flowers and beneficial weeds, as she grew older this slowly graduated into difficult to raise flowers and plants with medicinal properties with the capacity to both heal, and harm. Throughout her time at the Academy, Tamiko would often meet with Kohana to discuss the lessons of the day and the subtle nuances of concepts that she struggled with.

It was spring when tragedy befell the Tsuji household. The grandmother had a proficiency in games and was often known to gamble a little bit with her free time, unbeknownst to her and her family - a loan shark and local ne'er do well spied on the grandmother, keeping track of her winnings and noting where she would go throughout the day. When his thugs and agents discovered the location of their house, a nasty plot began to unfold. Tamiko had just graduated from the academy - middle of the class, nothing exceptional but still beloved by several instructors based on her disposition and eagerness. She had been out gathering herbs when the wind picked up gently, carrying a sense of unease with it. Tamiko first thought nothing of it and continued, but as the feeling continued to nag at her she rose and headed back to her home.

Turning the corner of the back of the house the front door was swung wide open. "Tamiko you shut that door right now you're going to let in a draft!" The words of her mother and grandmother rang in her head over and over again, the herb basket dropping to the ground and spilling it's contents into the breeze. She ran to the door and peered inside. Fear and trepidation gripped her as a single tear formed at the corner of her eye. An island lay in the middle of the home, and on the ground behind it a bloody hand - the fist clenched tightly. As her heart continued to drop Tamiko stepped inside. Her body was screaming at her to run while also simultaneously pushing her forwards with each step. As she saw the face of the body her hand flew up and covered her mouth and her knees became weak. Her beloved grandmother killed and their home ransacked. Where was her mother, she wondered? But she knew that she was always gone from the home around this time and was likely safe.

Voices pierced the silence, coming from the outside of the house and rage filled Tamiko's heart. She burst forth from the doorway scanning all around before hearing the voices again, around the opposite corner of the house where she had arrived. "That old b*tch barely had anything on her." "Yea old man Kazuna is gonna be pissed..." Tamiko had heard enough, her thoughts swirling and her vision darkening as she turned the corner and saw two younger men counting coins from her grandmothers coin purse. Red - in her head, in her body, in her soul even. Nothing but red... The next thing she knew she was looking down on one of the thugs, stabbing down over and over again. A knife clutched in her hand, but wait a minute... It wasn't her hand... She looked at her bloody palms noticing the size and hair. Then - nothingness...

She awoke in the local hospital, in shock and grief but thankfully with no injuries. Her mother with swelled tears in her eyes but also a grateful glow that her daughter was okay. Both thugs were dead and several detectives spoke to her of the incident. Asking where she had been and if she had seen what had happened, but it was a blur she told them. She complied to the best of her ability but didn't tell anyone what she had experienced for roughly a year. In confidence she told her beloved friend and mentor Kohana. Upon hearing the story she noted a subtle smile in the woman's corner of her mouth but quickly got down on one knee and hugged the girl. "There's something I have to tell you my little flower." She had whispered, and the entire story of her birth and father finally came to light. "You are a Yamanaka and I want you to know that I am proud of you." These words - the last said to her on that day echoed through her conscious.

It was several months later (considering the circumstances) that she took her Genin exam in order to begin her fledging journey as a kunoichi of the Hidden Leaf. Now thirteen years old and a graceful and elegant young lady. Her exam was proctored by a local Jounin - known for his hot headed streak. At first demonstrating an understanding of the basics, reciting the rules she had been writing and memorizing all four years of her time in the Academy and mock sparring with the other two young shinobi taking the test with her. However the easy going nature of the exam would soon fly to the wayside as the next step entailed leaving her and the two other young shinobi in the middle of the forest with nothing but a kunai knife and a goal. "Find me in the forest at the smallest tree and I will have a gift for you."

It sounded simple enough sure, and at first it was. Using the process of elimination and careful marking of places where they had been they slowly made a map of the area. It was their excitedness and youthful folly that quickly led to conflict. The biggest boar that any of those children had seen in their life - angry and bristling. It charged the children, who quickly did their best to get out of the way. This didn't seem like any normal boar. It acted with intelligence and certainty. The children found themselves pressed against the wall (quite literally) as a large boulder lay behind them and prevented them from escaping.

Casting little glances at one another a decision was made. The three children stepping forwards and announcing "We aren't scared of you boar! Do your worst, we're ready for you!" An empty threat and yet as "steam" exhaled from the nostrils and it's right front hoof stomping the ground repeatedly. It charged the children and time seemed to freeze. Right at the last second suddenly a voice boomed above them. "Haha that's it children! Always hold that courage in your hearts and I promise you will go far!" The Jounin! Tamiko remembered being so relieved... The boar had been the man's summon and was the main test of the day. "Hold your hands out and close your eyes" He told them and Tamiko felt a metallic and slightly heavy object pressed into her hands. When she opened them and saw the symbol of Konoha engraved in the metal it became the happiest moment of her life. After receiving her headband and registration form, she stood ready to mark her place in the shinobi world alongside the honorable and fearsome ninjas she would count among her peers.
