As most of you know, we have been down for almost 7 weeks now. In that seven weeks, we have put the old ways of NC under a lot of scrutiny and Ryoma pledged to put work into rebuilding the site with better security and a plan for the future. Part of that plan was changes to our core system that were limited by the lack of mods and by the changing of game play style within the RPing community as a whole. Ryoma’s core vision is that he wanted to get away from the techy part of NC and put more focus on RP’ing as an art. A lot of discussions went into how to do this and as more information is released, I hope you all see the changes we made as a way to get to this principle idea.
Before you start asking questions and looking for answers, let me be transparent here. We aren’t done hashing out the final components of the site. A lot of our work has been bringing over the old site and getting Areas built. Kaza has done a lot of work in creating these areas and they are only going to be perfect when you all put your finishing touches on them. But before we give each of you access, we need to discuss Security.
Each of you got a temporary password. By now, I hope that you have changed it to something unique and difficult to break. The admin have been using a site http://www.howsecureismypassword.net to test our password. I think the record for someones password at this moment is 345 Quintillion years to hack. Do not use the Password that you had on the old site. We have to assume he printed out everyone’s passwords.
Also. This site is top secret. The reason why we had to register you guys is because Registration is closed for everyone. Only an Admin can register you. This is how serious we are about keeping this site secret. If anyone comes to this site that wasn’t personally invited, we will be looking for the person who leaked the URL and immediately put them on the ban list for an unknown amount of time
Thirdly, All the info in this area is still a work in progress and is being handled. Leaking anything you see here will get you in just as much trouble as leaking the URL. Another note about the info within is that we don’t have a lot of time to discuss every little item that councils don’t agree with. A lot of decisions have been made and are being set forth. If you wish to voice your opposition, please feel free to PM any of the HA and discuss your concerns. What I would strongly advise against is posting 1,001 grievances and try to delay the release even further. This will just make things worse for everyone.
Finally, As Admin, we are all here to help you get your areas set up. We realize that some information might not be available immediately for you repost. We do need some input on what information is most vital and what is less pressing. Once again, a PM sent to us will go a long way. We might not respond immediately but Kaza and I put at least 40 hrs a week on this site so we can work diligently towards resolving your needs.
We need each of you to post here stating that you agree to the above conditions of joining the site. It might be a bit strongly worded but the site being hacked and the populous attitude there after has made us very cautious on any info being released. Thank you for your time and welcome back.
