Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

So it was the day after Kitsune had performed tests on the artificial eye, Project Oculus Aureus, and now the time had come to actually implant it in Kitsunes eye socket, to replace the ruined eye from when that one assassin had gotten a bit too close with a knife. Sure, had her eyes been regular ol’ eyeballs, they could’ve been healed perfectly fine, but they weren’t regular eyeballs now were they? Oh no, as someone whose Uchiha blood ran strong, Kitsune was amongst the upper echelon of Sharingan users, as demonstrated back during the war against Tenouza where she’d summoned a giant chakra skeleton to pummel the Popestrosity.

Kitsune had made arrangements to have Midori perform the surgery required to actually implant the artificial eyeball, and she’d requested Rei being present as well, should the need arise from a technical standpoint. Kitsune herself strolled into the hospital and headed straight for the pre-op room near the surgical theater that’d be used for this procedure, so she could get ready for the actual procedure itself, and have both Midori and Rei show up. It’d be good to get it all over with and done, so Kitsune could have her depth perception back. More than once she’d reached for something and been way off. Sure, minor inconvenience, and she could’ve been dead, but it was still so frustrating!

She removed her sunglasses that covered up the destroyed eye. Not a pretty sight, for sure, but nobody beyond Rei, and now Midori, knew it had even happened, as Kitsune’d kept it quiet. She didn’t want to appear weak in front of the citizens, nor the nobles or administration in the Torre Empirea. Sure, fear the old person in a job where people usually die young, but if people found out an assassin had gotten that close to actually ending the life of the Raikage? That’d diminish faith in the ANBU, and Kitsune couldn’t have that. Not just because Miro was in charge and Kitsune had taught her, but also because it was more productive for them to appear to the population as the absolute elite of the elite.

Well this was a pleasant surprise, or at the very least an honor to be able to be the one to perform the surgery of this importance. Midori had felt privileged to be able to perform this operation for the former medical branch sennin, Shinrya Kitsune. Thought it would be a lie to say that the vampire wasn't just a tad bit concerned. Sure this would just be a little eye surgery but there were a lot of moving parts to this operation. Firstly, it was anonymous; meaning no one but Midori and Rei were to know about this operation which made sense given that there had been a lot of criminal mischief going on at the gates.

Once Kitsune hand shown up, Midori lumbered her way to the pre-op room to greet the Raikage. "Lady Raikage, zuch a honor to be operating on vu on zuch a glorious day." Midori smiles, bowing in a courtly fashion. "Do not fear because vu are in capable hands. Pleaze make yourzelf comfortable vhile ve vait for.... Her name vas Kei, yes?" Midori thought about it, honestly only ever meeting the woman like maybe once or twice. After pondering for a moment at what the name of the main branch sennin was, Kitsune had removed the sunglasses which made the vampire gasp. There were times like these where Midori was thankful to an immortal, though keeping silent now Midori could see why their village leader (or rather lightning country's leader) would rather this be kept under the table because it was pretty bad to say the least.

While they waited on Rei to arrive for the procedure, Midori took this time to examine the damaged eye to make sure it wasn't infected or anything like that. "Hmmm.... Berfect. Berfect. No Hinfection. Zo Madame Raikage, do vu remember exactly how long ako zis happened?" Midori asked while holding Kitsunes chin up to look at her damaged eye with a Ophthalmoscope and checking the other eye too as an extra layer of precaution. While the medical sennin was okay with not knowing every detail, she was curious just how long ago did this happened because Midori was surprised that something like this she hadn't known about sooner but she figured the secrecy was one of the many perks of being country leader.

Rei walked down the corridors of the hospital with two Main Branch guards flanking both of her sides. In her hand, clutched tight with a special chakra sealed handcuff attached, was a briefcase of normal sizes made of a blue-tinted steel. The contents inside were worth an entire country and they were going inside the head of a single person. The finishing touches had been added, and extra precautions programed in painstakingly so that the eye had become more than just a simple cybernetic implant. The way before the trio parted at the sight of them. The three shinobi were all dressed in suits that were starting to become popular among the upper echelon of MB that did more work out of office than in the field. They stopped short of the door leading to pre-op where the two soliders stationed themselves opposite of each other and turned their backs to the entrance. They had no idea who, what, or why, only that they had sworn to throw down their lives in case something happened.

Would something happen? Not likely. However with the recent gate crashing incident, a member of ANBU’s attempt to go AWOL, the assassination attempt on the Raikage herself, and a few other smaller movements under the surface of all that trouble; Rei wasn’t taking chances. The two men at either side were her most trusted shinobi, but all throughout the building were men and women in suits at specific areas. Choke-points, points of entrance, points of interests…if a thief wanted to strike, this would be the time to do so - when only one of the Sennin were free to watch the Village.
The scientist keyed in her personalized code and the doors slid open just enough for her to squeeze through before snapping shut once more with the sound of a large mechanical device clamping down behind. Moving through a small corridor she keyed in her code one more time and a second set of doors opened up to revel the giant vampire and their leader being examined. Rei seemed to walk in on just the moment she had asked Kitsune what had caused such a wound to start with,
A really, really, lucky jack-ass with a knife. Not to worry though, no one will know that it ever happened after today.

The MB Sennin gently placed the metal briefcase down on a table and undid the cuff before removing her suit jacket and rolling up the sleeves of her shirt to reveal impossibly muscular arms. Pressing in an indention on the case revealed a slot that Rei slipped her thumb into to deactivate the locks once it took a small blood sample. She opened up the case to reveal in all its glory, surrounded by another case of unbreakable glass, the bio-mechanical eye capable of replicating the Uchiha’s greatest asset.
I’m afraid I’m not as good with the surgical side of things, but I do have some small experience in that. I’m here to make sure the mechanical portions are connected correctly and to adjust the settings once the eye is in; most of this will be in your hands Midori-san. However,” the Sennin said as she turned away from the eye and moved towards a secondary room to get properly gowned up for surgery, “I’m not as dumb as I look. Give me instructions when you need a hand and I promise it’ll be as precise as any assistant you’ve ever had. Unless a good looking man is involved, that is,” she ended with a chuckle before moving to the next room to prep.

”Well, besides myself, you’re the most capable surgeon the branch has, and it’d be quite difficult to perform the surgery on myself” Kitsune said, chuckling ”Ah, Rei. Is her name. She should be here any minute now.” she said and adjusted her position, not missing the audible gasp coming from Midori. Yeah, it wasn’t a pretty picture, at all. It could’ve been much worse, had Kitsune not treated it right away. When Midori asked about when this had happened, Rei moved into room, stating it was some jackass with a knife that’d gotten extremely lucky. ”At this point in time, some 4 days ago.”

Kitsune scratched her head a bit ”Fortunately, I treated it right away, leading to the result you see here now.” she said hopping off of her chair ”So, lets get this show on the road. I trust the two of you to take care of me during the process.” she finished, heading out the room to get sanitized and gowned up, so the two other women could handle actually performing the surgery of implanting the new mechanical eye. Given that Kitsune would be put under for the surgery to ensure no sudden movements or anything (and to ensure any sounds transferred through bone didn’t make it to her ears, because yuck), it would be all up to Midori’s surgical expertise, and Rei’s skill in following instructions on top of the mechanical.

As Midori examined the wound, Rei finally came into the room and explained what had happened to have caused the wound. The sennin getting a better understanding of what happened and fortunately there wasn't any signs of an infection despite it being four days after Kitsune had been attacked. Because the wound could've been a lot worse if it hadn't been treated right away. Midori now turned to the suitcase that Rei had brought in and the vampire saw the bio-mechanical eye moving in to get a closer look at it while Kitsune out of the room to get sanitized and gowned up. The bio-mechanical eye capable was rumored to be capable of replicating the Uchiha’s sharingan which would be fantastic if it worked. Especially if there just so happened to be a Uchiha somewhere down the road who ends up going blind, they would have the option to get a replacement eye without having to pluck it out of another Uchiha like it has been traditionally done in the past.

While Midori examined the eye and thought of the good that the eye would do if it did work with Kitsune, Rei had offered any help that she could provide the medical sennin to make sure that this surgery goes well. "Kood, I'll make a note of zat becauze your skills vith zee mechanical doo-hickeys vu create vill haffe to come into blay here." Midori nodded, knowing she would need help because the eye is an invention of Rei and unfortunately the vampire didn't really understand how the whole artificial eye thing actually worked. After that little exchange of words, Midori went to get her own hands sanitized and putting on a large gown (made for her size only), a hairnet, gloves and a mask. Once she was dress appropriately for the procedure, the vampire went into the large surgical theater to prepare a couple of tools as well as placing the case with the artificial eye in near the operating table.

After getting the tools and the artificial situated, she waited for her new patient and Rei to get in the operating room. Once she saw both come in she signaled for them to come over to the operating table. Then when Kitsune was lying on the down, the first thing Midori had done was perform Anesthetic Infusion which served as a painkiller for this treatment. Numbing Kitsune's sensitivity to pain, Numbing Kitsune's sensitivity to pain before they begin the surgery.

She’d be lying if Rei proclaimed she wasn’t nervous. This was the first surgery of its kind, a replacement of an ocular system with technology. Sure, replacing an eye? No problem. But the wiring to the actual brain and optical nerves with…well, actual wires? Never heard of before. Kitsune herself was a master of this kind of surgery involving limbs having fixed a certain ANBU member’s arm at least twice. Rei? Last time she attached mechanical to flesh she lost her legs. Yet as she gowned up and sterilized, the site of the gigantic vampiric doctor strangely set the other Sennin’s nerves at ease. There was a confidence that Futotta moved with that made Rei believe her role here would be blessedly minor.

The case containing the biomechaincal eye was sterilized in its own way by nurses directly under the orders of the Medical Sennin, and when Rei walked into the operating theater she quickly caught sight of the eye suspended in a specialized gel. It was hooked up to machines to get it prepped and run the basic operating systems so that Kitsune didn’t have to endure it booting up when she regained consciousness. When Kitsune got up on the bed, Rei gently touched the Raikage’s wrist and nodded at her to expel whatever nervousness she still had before the anesthesia hit. Once under the scientist waited for the medical professional to start opening up their leader’s skull.

It was probably going to be a long day.

[Sorry for the wait on this!]

”Well, this’ll be interesting.” Kitsune mused as she laid down on the operating table, trying to keep as still as possible for the surgery, ”No time like the present, huh?” she said, looking at Rei and nodding. It’d definitely go well, of that Kitsune was sure. Midori to handle the organic side of things, while Rei handled the technologic side. She’d tied her hair up, so Midori could get to the eye socket with ease, and hopefully the surgery could be performed without needing to shave off any hair. The last eye surgery performed on Kitsune was without needing to shave any of her hair off.

Once Kitsune was under, the surgery was finally underway. The first thing that she needed to do was to mark where she would be needing to cut since they did have to rewire the device to the nerves in her brain. Once she marked the patient's head, Midori began the procedure. Sparing the viewers as well as the admins the more graphic side of how she opened up Kitsune's brain, the loud saw that Midori used echoed through the room along with the faint cracking of bone. When she opened Kitsune's head, she would then do the hard work of extracting the bad eye before using some complex surgical machine that moved down to hold Kitsune's eye socket open while another mechanical arm inserted the mechanical eye into Kitsune's empty socket. When this process was completed, Midori would then insert some kind material within the pupil of the mechanical eye. What exactly this material was, was never fully disclosed to the public.

But the material did make the eye glow with a crimson red color, Midori and Rei would be able to witness as they could see the nerves in Kitsunes brain light up as the eye became active and began the ‘pairing’ process with Kitsunes brain. Once the glowing had stopped, Midori had checked Kitsunes vitals which seemed stable enough to her to know that their village leader wasn’t dead yet so with that out of the way the vampire would then begin closing Kitsune back up. Using the angelic blessing technique to both mend Kitsune’s skull back together and close the cuts that she made while also accelerating the healing process with Regeneration to clear up any scarring that might occur because the Sennin doubted that their village leader would wanna leave out of here looking like frankenstein's monster. When Midori was finished fixing Kitsune up, it was like surgery and the lucky strike never happened besides the dried blood that was still on Kitsune’s face.

Midori laughed then stated. "Vell, vell! All done no? Now ve vait for her to avake. Zo Rei, can vu be ein dear finisch cleaning her up for ein bit? Im zorta bloody yeah?" Midori said before leaving the room for a bit, leaving Rei in the room alone as she went to toss the large apron and gloves away, she would then rip her mask off and start to instantly begin licking the blood from her gloves like a madwoman! It took a lot of willpower not to feed but she was able to contain her beast up until now. Finally saying screw it, Midori would pull the gloves off then stuff them in her mouth and start chewing them…. Chewing until the beast was happy and she regained her composure. Tossing the apron away before going back into the room, still chewing on the gloves before swallowing them. By then Kitsune would probably have woken up if she wasn't already since the surgery did take hours to complete and Midori still hadn't had anything to eat for a while which was no wonder why her beast came out to play for a bit.

Rei had never been more nervous doing anything than she did on this day. By the time Futotta finally began to heal the incision, the fellow Sennin preforming surgery nearly collapsed under the strain of her tension. The muscular woman looked almost comical now as the layers of surgical gowns all but stuck directly too her body from the amount of sweat built up.
Surgery had never been a strong suit of Dr. Ryuu. Her ability in the sciences were of the mechanical nature. If robots existed, she would be the kind of doctor that could preform precise surgery; humans just all but escaped her. It wasn’t that she didn’t know every last part of the human body by heart either. It was the knowledge that the slightest mistake could cause irreversible damage to multiple parts of the body with a simple slip of the hand. The memory of self installing mechanical legs in the quest to keep up to even the lowest level shinobi still haunted her. So when it came down to preforming the surgery on Kitsune, the girl’s literal best friend, she focused every single muscle in her body down to the very fiber; all to keep the steadiest hand she could.

Thankfully, the giant vampire was an amazing surgeon…somehow. Perhaps it was years of anti-vampiric propaganda that made her believe it, but Rei was almost certain the undead generally had a bloodlust habit; and there was a lot of blood. This was a surgery on the head of all places, after all. Yet the other Sennin preformed the surgery with such speed and precision that most of Rei’s exhaustion was purely of her own doing. The other doctor barely had to do anything except attach the correct wires to the Raikage’s optical nerves; a feat that was ridiculously easy thanks to Futotta.

Now that the surgery had finished the MB Sennin walked back into the decontamination room with shaky legs to preform the cleansing ritual. By the time she found herself back into her outfit their leader had been moved to her own private room to awaken from the anesthesia. Sore down to her toes, Rei half considered calling it for the day and taking an early leave from the rest of her duties planned out. It would push back The Agenda by about a day or two…which would create even more catch up tomorrow…
The doctor clapped her face with both hands to focus. Despite the pain there was too much to keep up with today, especially with the Raikage decommissioned for her own surgery. Knowing Kitsune, the woman would proabably be up and around using both eyes in full capacity by the next day, but until then Rei had to take up the extra bureaucracy as the leader of the general army. The stout woman put her hands on the small of her back and pushed in while stretching her upper half back to create the relieving sound of no less than four cracks.
Guess I better make sure Kit-san wakes up alright,” she said to herself before creating a ball of chakra in her stomach. She molded the energy in the likeness of a finger snap before shooting it all to her limbs to “hop” around the hospital until she arrived at the door to the Raikage’s recovery room. As expected, the extra security she had hired on for the day had followed the nurses and were waiting for Rei to show up; which she did with an explosive gust of wind following her high-speed movement. They opened the door and the Sennin crossed on in with hands in her coat pockets.

Awake yet?

Not that long after the surgery had concluded, Kitsune’s eyes opened wide, in a quite dramatic fashion. She was awake, and she suddenly had three-dimensional vision again. Evidently the surgery worked, and as soon as she showed signs of actual consciousness, the artificial eye whirred to life and essentially overlayed her vision with a heads-up-display, showing her vitals and text indicating it was running diagnostics to ensure everything was in tip-top shape. Kitsune slowly sat up right around the same time Rei re-entered the room, shaking her head to shake off the grogginess. ”Hey Rei-chan. Impeccable timing as usual.” she said with a smile, as the electronic eye’s iris glowed a golden hue.

”It appears the surgery was a success. I have regained my three-dimensional vision, and gained a kickass HUD to boot. I’ve already got ideas for features to add to the software running on this thing. As extra modules of course, not gonna touch the base operating system. That’d just be risky.” Kitsune mused, plotting upgrades to the HUD that’d serve her well in the day to day business of running a country. She put her arms up over her head, holding one hand with the other, and stretched, causing an audible crack, and a just as audible sigh.

Kitsune slid out of the hospital bed and went out to the adjacent bathroom to have a look at the lovely handiwork of her medical sennin, and to wash the blood off of her face. There was literally no visible signs of anything having happened, beyond her eye now being artificial in nature. Absolutely incredible. ”I have to admit. This handiwork is damn amazing.” she said as she began stripping out of the hospital gown, and back into her freshly cleaned suit, so she’d be back to her sharp self. She stepped back into the private room and gave Rei a tight hug. ”Thank you, my friend.” she said, smiling at the beefy woman, making a mental note to go thank Midori for her hard work. ”Wanna go get a bite to eat, perhaps? My treat.” Kitsune offered, gesturing towards the door out of the room. ”I feel a need for some fresh air, and some food.”
