Character's Physical Description:
Rei is petite, almost frail in appearance and of a smaller stature standing only 5’6’’ at full height. Her flesh is a pale, almost milky white that gives her the appearance of a person who has been pulled back from death; which is not far from the truth. Long green hair tied into a long ponytail graces her head with unruly bangs that often find themselves free of their bindings. Her eyes are a deep shade of cranberry red with white pupils instead of black, which is an oddity she has yet to be able to explain. Pierced into each ear are three studs a piece and two triangular dangling earrings. Her clothing remains the same as it was before her dissapearance: business casual. Longsleeved button-up tucked into black slacks with a pair of suspenders to hold them up over her thin frame. Her footwear of choice appear to be combat boots over the shinobi sandal or dress shoes to match her other clothing. Mysteriously surrounding her are often ethereal black butterflies that vanish when someone tries to actually look at them, and the smell of lilacs. Beneath the clothing is a body sculpted for shinobi work despite her frail appearance, and bondage scars on her wrists, chest, and ankles.
Character's Mental Description:
To say Rei’s mind is shot would be a vast understatement. Trapped in a world of her own creation for a little over three years bound to a stone chair changed her. For those eleven-thousand days all she did was dream. Nightmares swirled in her head, choking out any last touch of sanity she had by the end of the first year so that the Ryuu Weapon she had drawn could fully corrupt her. When she was at her last, and ready to give up, a hero from her past saved her life once more; the Time Walker, Shirokuu. Facing countless deaths that she was forced to watch in what Rei had assumed was a more-vivid-than-usual nightmare, the thunder blessed shinobi had finally broke her free of her chains. However, in order to free the previous Kumo Sennin from her nightmare, Rei had to fully die. A blade plunged into her heart she was forced to feel her life ebb to nothing to drain the corruption of one Ryuu Weapon so that Shiro’s dagger could save her with it borrowing his temporal powers. The act has left Rei shook, beyond what even a high-class shinobi like herself was capable of handling. In her return to the real waking world, having to face everything she ran away from, Rei has become something of a recluse but, not without purpose. With the advent of the Ryuu clan’s most infamous member walking amongst them, the scientist inside of her is slowly clawing its way back to the surface, forcing her to overcome her fears so that she can finally break the long-standing Curse of Madness that has haunted her bloodline now for generations. Keeping her mind together is non-other than the man who has saved her twice now; a small comfort in the return to reality.

Character History:
To be confined to herself, to walk through utter darkness in search of something she had no way of understanding. Rei’s mission to cure her curse left by the Lycan Disease was doomed from the start.
Medical science had failed her. Throughout months of lab work in between her position as the head of the KIO and other Sennin duties, the head of the Ryuu clan had come to her wit’s end trying to isolate the gene that causing the transformation into twisted wolves. She had found multiple ways to synergize the local fauna into something that could seek out the gene and destroy it, but that in turn almost always killed the host. Only one of her formulas could actually revert the transformation, but still caused the host’s death. Then when her seal that kept the beast’s genetics locked down into her own started to fail, the woman became incredibly desperate. To find a cure for the disease wasn’t just to avail her of the curse and inevitable transformation; it was to keep from also destroying Kumogakure. Having faced a Lycan created from a high-level shinobi and almost dying, and would have if not for the intervention of Shirokuu the Time Walker, the Sennin knew full well the consequences of not finding a cure in time.
Rei feared bringing her condition to Kitsune, an expert in the field that rode far beyond her own knowledge. It stemmed from a worry that it would inevitably lead to yet another dead end and her friend would learn of how desperate the situation had become. With the Cloud and Leaf working to secure a new alliance she felt that the Raikage had far too much on her plate already. To distract them with such a problem could potentially lead to trouble with the fresh alliance down the road in the simple mistake made from a tired mind. So, she beseeched the greatest minds available.
The Ryuu Clan were once a nomadic tribe that wondered the entire world. Their purpose for doing so, on the surface, was to collect knowledge from all cultures and spread peace by taking in anyone who would travel with them. The clan was the most diverse of any shinobi clan during their time, as it drew in outsiders, rogues, and the banished. Those who attempted to turn a bad nature towards them were struck down by a powerful council of shinobi known as the Elders; an eclectic group of seven that hoarded the most powerful of their collective knowledge. They alone also knew the true purpose of the clan, and that was to hide away the worst of that wisdom from man. Some of those hidden treasures were known as the Ryuu Weapons - items created during a great war between dragon, kami, youkai, and man. In the realitive peaceful times the world had entered, in comparison, such weapons could upset the balance enough to potentially destroy it. The very knowledge of these items existence were only granted to the Head of the Ryuu clan when they ascended to that role. The locations of these weapons were kept by the Elders, and never divulged. The one time they had revealed the location of one - the Ashura Blade - it lead to the clan’s downfall and near extinction by the hands of Ryuu Tama’s father - Tengokai.
However, Rei believed that if anyone had a magical cure available to remove her curse so she could focus on curing others without the worry of transforming herself; it would be them. To their secretive home in the Lightning Mountains she journeyed, and beseeched their aid that was met with - at first - disdain and immediate removal from their tower locked away from the world. The oldest of the Elders intervened, knowing of a prophecy that had long been forgotten as the rantings of a mad man. With great risk to what remained of the clan that Teng had not murdered, she convinced the others to point out one of these great weapons. It had the power to manipulate reality itself, and had been tantamount in mankind breaking free of their shackles placed upon them by the dragons of eld.
Known as the Kami’s Delight, it was a golden sword that was seemingly made from a single bar of metal. No hilt, or guard, just a place to hold the weapon and a blade to strike. Rei traveled far and through many trails just to finally grasp the sword; and have it turn on her. The weapon was more than just a sword capable of bending reality - it was alive. The soul of a Kami had been taken, infused into a mysterious metal collected from a meteorite, and forged into a weapon capable of striking down even the greatest of wyrms. A thousand years trapped alone in a cave on a remote island far into the North Sea had driven the kami that inhabited the weapon mad. When Rei removed it from its pedestal, the creature within knew it finally had an out.
She could transform Rei, give her the body and power to not only repel the Lycan curse from herself but to cure the disease all together. Trusting in the Elders wisdom of guiding her to the sword in the first place, and in her own willpower that had already been repressing the wolf inside, she accepted. Kami’s Delight broke her body down to atoms, and reconfigured it back around the weapon itself. It gave her the absolute power to simply rewrite reality on a whim. Not just control the molocules of basic things, a power she already had, but full reality manipulation. Her body zipped around the entire world in an instant. Saw lands never seen before, floated over the deserts of Wind, flew through the trees of Fire, and finally returned home to bring back the long sought after cure to her people.
In her elation, Rei had forgotten a simple truth - and that was the other curse that ran through her soul. Placed upon the entire clan by the Ashura Blade on Teng’s death, the Ryuu Madness triggered at exactly the worst time possible. Her focus changed from helping others to helping herself. A part of her mind, screeching for help and locked away, tried everything to claw back control but the Kami’s Delight took full advantage of the second curse. Before long she had completely lost her mind. The weapon was bored with reality, and wished for something more grand but also wanted total control. So it cut open a hole in time-space, walked through into the pitch black of nothing, and created an entire world to live in from scratch. Anchoring the soul of the Ryuu it had captured, she used Rei to maintain its shape by keeping her in a constant state of dream where nightmares would haunt her for eternity.
For three years in the outside world, and countless more inside this false one, Rei slept. Nightmares constantly nipping at her heels to keep the realm stable. All until a man who had saved her once already from returned to the present. Shirokuu the Time Walker was the second half of the prophecy the Ryuu Elders saw. Though most were hesitant to give one of their greatest treasures to what appeared to be a complete stranger, the eldest among them once again intervened and belived in the prophecy that he would bring about a great chance in the clan that would save them. Leading him to a dagger that forced him to live multiple lifetimes that could counter the Kami’s Delight, he went alone into the dark realm to free a woman he had barely met; but had loved countless times thorough out the many futures.
Shiro’s battle against not only the madness of the sword, but also the madness that stemmed from the Ryuu’s curse was a hard fought one. He suffered countless deaths, only able to hold on through the miracle of the mysterious dagger before finally bending to the will of the prophecy given to him by the old clan. In his last move, he moved from fighting the sword’s fairy appearance and buried the dagger directly into his love’s heart. Doing so killed Rei outright, but by spilling her blood it drew out the Kami’s Delight and returned her to her human form once more. Terrified of being left alone to die of bordom once more, it worked together with the spirit that inhabited the dagger to ressurect Ryuu Rei, drawing her soul back from death’s clutches and reconstructing her body with the power of the Second World.
Having used all of it’s remaining strength to save Rei, the sword broke down into ash. The kami’s soul that had inhabited finally ran dry of enough energy to sustain its form, and it went into blissful nothing happily. Rei’s return to the waking world was met at first with skeptisim, having seen so many nightmares that had also started off with the happy meeting with Shriokuu once more. As the days continued without change, she eventually came to terms that she had finally broken free of her nightmare world and accepted reality.
Coming back home she discovered that her chakra had been permanently tainted from having been dragged back from death itself. Yet it also granted her a new strength in that she could summon that forest she was trapped in for so many years at a whim, drawing them directly from hell itself. Knowing now her connection to a realm beyond mortality, she seeks to cure the Ryuu Clan in a new way…
…by dragging Tengokai out of hell.
