In time all things evolve, mature and change. Even on a smaller scale such as the life of a shinobi like Sabaku. In his youthful age he was incredibly fast, however weak in strength. In time he grew, and just like that change so did his speed. He was still very fast, don't get me wrong. He merely found a way to adapt it to suit his needs. Speed isn't the only thing that determines the winner though it helps. Ever hear the saying, don't bring a kunai to a gun fight? Well this adaptation was on a similar scale. It would be foolish to go into a mission or a battle without the appropriate ninja tools. And if you falter and stumble upon attempting to use those tools, it's just as bad as not even having them. So Sabaku learned to replace his quick punches with quick fingers, able to retrieve a weapon or item faster than the blink of an eye. Only have some basic gloves? No problem! Before you can say "I give up" Sabaku has already retrieved his sword and is ready to strike... Though that wouldn't really be his M.O. this was simply an analogy, you pickin up what I'm putting down?

Just as I was mentioning earlier, processes and techniques change and adapt to situations and your body and mind learns from experience. In his youth Sabaku was eager and ready for a fight that would most likely never come. Always on the edge of his seat and in a semi stance that would allow for him to easily shift into his signature fighting style. Originally this would save him time, or so he thought. In the end, over anticipation could easily overwhelm an individual if they were not careful. So as far as experience goes, Sabaku had attempted to train his mind instead of his body. His inborn prowess and ability already gave him the advantage over others in terms of raw speed and agility. But again, he was not incredibly strong and all it would take is one good hit from a brutish warrior to put him out of commission. So how do you defeat a giant weak minded brute only capable of "Smashing" everything? With your mind... Combining an acute, high focus and quick thinking would allow Sabaku to overcome any obstacle. If Sabaku could literally stay one step ahead of everyone else physically, surely he could attempt the same mentally. With this training, Sabaku would be ready in body AND in mind.
