Asami takes pride in her appearance, and puts more effort than most into the guise of a little lady. A mere glance at her face makes one thing clear - a face as delicate as hers does not belong anywhere near a battlefield, let alone amongst the killers of Kumogakure. A gentle face and its big blue eyes are adorned by dark red curls. The hair is prone to appear differently under different lights - a bright summer's day brings about slight shades of pink, while shadows bring it closer to sangria. As any sensible shinobi should, she keeps it tied up during combat, making a bun that's difficult for her enemies to take advantage of.[lb2][/lb2]
If the hair isn’t what catches the eyes of passer-by’s, her eyes tend to do the trick. Large and youthful blue orbs welcome all who greet her; they’re very good at conveying her emotions, whether she wants them to or not. Her lips settle in a distinctive shape best described as a ‘catface’, giving her the illusion of a gentle smile whenever she isn’t actively showing displeasure. [lb2][/lb2]
She’s not afraid to show off the rest of her body; while she considers herself much too young to wear anything provocative, she often sports shoulderless sweaters or pleated skirts. Her everyday attire, much like her appearance, is undeniably stylish and clean, but not always practical for her line of work. Exposed skin reveals a hint at her job; a shinobi's regime, giving it a slight tone. What few scars marred her beauty have faded with time (and vanish with a little makeup). Those on her arms and legs are a little harder to hide; it’s probably why Asami prefers long-sleeved tops, while the marks on her lower half can be explained away by clumsy trips and falls. [lb2][/lb2]
[lb][/lb]
Asami bears a personality to match her appearance: caring (perhaps deceptively so), welcoming and generally friendly. When there isn't a book in her hand, she greets strangers and friends alike with a warm smile - and hopes they don't notice her watching from afar moments before. A seemingly rare case of beauty and brains in one package, usually prefers the peaceful solution to her problems – not just because it tends to end better for all parties, but because violence is usually the fastest way to break her composure. [lb2][/lb2]
Under most circumstances, she is a calm and collected child that tries to show maturity beyond her years. For the most part, it works: she rarely speaks without thought and tries to approach every stranger with good grace. Once she’s had a chance to see their character, hers can change accordingly – while a friendly face will only ever be treated with kindness in return, she has little patience for disrespect or mockery, and will remember counts of both for years after the fact. She’s also used to speaking her mind, and doesn’t mind being the outspoken one as long as there’s no threat to her wellbeing.

[td=null,1]Appearances can be deceptive, but whether Asami intentionally plays on that fact is up to interpretation. While she is, at her core, an idealist, optimist and mostly good person, she's unlikely to forget a weakness shown by others. Should they try choose to cross her, she believes abusing it is fair game... Especially if everybody else remains none the wiser. She’s painfully aware that she lacks the power to strike back at most, but assures herself their time will come eventually. Such is her level of pride, often to the point of being stubborn and petty, especially if she decides she doesn’t like somebody enough to listen to them.[lb2][/lb2]
[lb][/lb]
At age twelve, Asami would never have considered the shinobi life. The daughter of a blacksmith and a small bakery chain, Asami was set to follow in the latter's footsteps. Despite living in the shinobi village, the question of joining the military never arose. Why would their child need to become a sellsword when they could provide a comfortable childhood, a solid education and the foundation for her career? It wasn't until scouts discovered an exceptional potential for chakra manipulation in the young girl that her father mentioned the idea in passing... And then again, more directly, a few weeks later. The matter came up in conversation more and more, with her father becoming oddly aggressive about enlisting. Asami suspected that extortion was involved. Why else would a loving father suddenly decide to send his child off to die?[lb2][/lb2]
In the end, she wasn't left with much of a choice. Once Kumogakure found a budding shinobi, the only escape was through death. They intended to force her onto a new path – some thirty years of murder, thievery and destruction with a trauma-recovery retirement, if she even survived that long. She had no interest in that life, and actively delayed it as long as she could. While she was enrolled in the academy without issue, her attendance was far below the average. Asami avoided the dangerous classes and coasted through ‘safer’ choices to avoid raising too much suspicion. The occasional trial by fire that some of the teachers preferred only reaffirmed that her efforts were correct; she would never forget clinging to a cliffside for dear life, having been left to scale the wall by her tutor. There were skills to be learned along the way, however – what few classes she attended, she passed, and made a few impressions along the way. Few could deny she had potential, but her ideals held her back from excellence.[lb2][/lb2]
It wasn’t until a chance meeting with the Raikage and his Sennin that somebody gave her a hope to cling to. Instead of trying to delay the inevitable graduation, she had the option to follow the course set for her, and use it as a force for good. Hers would be an uphill battle, but the alternative was falling into despair, and she had no interest in that.[lb2][/lb2]
For the time being, her goals are simple: keep her head down, survive, and make allies that will help her to do just that.[/td][/tr][/tbody][/table]
