History in Detail[lb][/lb]
The Early Years[lb2][/lb2]
Shinrya Kahako was not always a member of the Shinrya clan of Kumogakure. Once, she went by the name of Higa Kahako. The Higa family, for generations, had been a small trading clan, operating within the city of Kumogakure as civilians, eventually opening a small cafe that was passed from parent to child. Her birth mother, the second daughter of the Higa family, fell in love with an aspiring traveling merchant and married him. They settled into his hometown, Kelmura, where they eventually gained enough wealth to open a well established inn.
[lb2][/lb2]
From birth, Kahako had been raised as if she were to be an heiress to a noble clan, even if her family name never held such a prestige. For as far back as she can remember, she had always been taught the ways of grace, poise, and good mannerisms that would be expected for a woman of high status. In time, her family hoped that she would take on their small empire, and the expectation was for her to expand the family business even further. A tall order for a twelve-year-old girl.

Appearance[lb][/lb]
Standing at a standard 5'6" (199cm), Shinrya Kahako is a lithe woman with a strong stance. Her eyes shine a deep emerald green, and she keeps her dark brown/almost black hair cut to chin length. Only at her home and during special occasions is she ever seen outside of her Sentou Henkan casual uniform. When she is at the hospital, she usually dons her hospital scrubs and doctor lab coat. This is mainly due to the fact that she almost always is seen in the emergency room. Like all members of the Sentou, she has a fake ANBU mask with a jellyfish stamped on it, which she uses for ANBU missions, along with the anbu overlay.[lb][/lb]
[lb2][/lb2]
Nindo[lb][/lb]
"The loss of life is acceptable. Failure to do everything within your power to stop the loss of life is not"[lb][/lb]
[lb2][/lb2]
Personality[lb][/lb]
A stickler for appearances, Kahako always tries to display a sense of calmness to her persona. However, appearances are not what they seem, as from within Kahako is always fighting with, not only two other personalities, but also the deep emotional range of her own. She will do anything for her village, believes that Shinbatsu, upon death, ascended to godhood, and she loves those she considers family to a fault. Kahako will do anything she can to ensure Kumogakure and her family's safety and well-being. Even if she has to sacrifice her own well-being in the process. This has gotten her into trouble with those she cares about at times, because they also deeply care about her. As many citizens of her country do, Kahako also has a general distrust for any individual who isn't Kumogakuran or who openly shows distaste in Kumo leadership. Ever the guardian of appearances, and the adopted daughter of one of the largest trading families in the country, Kahako will still treat a foreigner with kind regard, and she's always willing to show said foreigner why her country and her Kage is one worth dying for.

Ketsueki Sukino and Tokugawa Sakada
[lb2][/lb2]Link to split personality approval[lb][/lb]
There are two ‘souls’ residing in Kahako’s mind. Two entities separate from her own sitting resolutely on opposite ends of the moral spectrum. Kahako theorizes that the souls are leftover chakra signatures that Ketsueki Satou’s demon consumed when it killed its prey. As to why the demon does this, Kahako has no idea.
[lb2][/lb2]
Some overused cliché about Ying and Yang could be alluded to the souls, but that would insinuate both sides were in balance—striking even blows for control. This could not be further from the truth, as Kahako had to sacrifice her duty and dreams as a shinobi to keep one side under control.
[lb2][/lb2]
The first personality, Ketsueki Sukino, is more so benign that she is benevolent. Since she already lived and died, Sukino was content with spending the rest of Kahako’s life being nothing more than a fly on the mental wall. As she was a peasant when she was alive, the spirit often told Kahako she felt as if she would be a hindrance in Kahako’s duties. This soul accepted its violent death, and only manifested itself when Kahako was in the presence of her once husband, Ketsueki Satou. Even then, it was just to the surface of Kahako’s consciousness so that it could look upon his face and see if he was okay.
[lb2][/lb2]
However, that changed when Kahako consumed the second soul, Tokugawa Sakada. Daughter to a lord from a land whose borders were removed from even the most ancient of maps, this soul was corrupted by Satou’s demon blood, becoming demon-like herself before dying by his hands. It hungers for Satou’s power, and delights in telling Kahako the new and creative ways it will use Satou to torture those she cares about should it ever break free.
[lb2][/lb2]
As a result, it is not content on living out its days in the recesses of Kahako’s subconscious. With the combined efforts of Sukino and Kahako, Kahako can keep Sakada under control. So long as Kahako does not actively use her chakra. For any sort of mental fatigue will break the barrier keeping Sakada dormant.

[lb][/lb]
That all changed the day the Higa family, for the first time in their known history, found themselves with a child capable of manipulating chakra. Kahako was ecstatic. Her family was not. As a clan of non-chakra users in Kumogakure, Kahako's maternal family always felt as if they were second class citizens. Their voices were never heard, and their social status remained that of middle-class. So when the time came for Kahako decided to attend the Academy, her family resisted her decision with everything they had. But one does not simply ignore the government's orders. With no other choice, Kahako was eventually sent to Kumogakure for shinobi training, where she stayed for a time with her mother's sister, Higa Sei.
[lb2][/lb2]
Meeting of Ketsueki Satou and Rise to Sentou Henkan[lb2][/lb2]
Kahako got along well enough with her peers, but none ever truly became steadfast confidants. She never felt a strong connection to anyone in the village until she met the man Ketsueki Satou. One evening, when she grew lost in the massive city, she came upon him bleeding and near death in an alley way. Driven to the dark street by a stranger with unknown intentions, he offered her a contract that would save them both: become the master to the demon who resided in him, so that he may gain the power to protect them both. Scared of death and the death of the man before her, she accepted the contract with little thought to the cost that it would entail. Later, she learned that the demon craved the consumption of human blood. While any human blood abated Satou's thirst, it was only the blood of the 'master' that truly quelled the beast for a significant amount of time. [lb][/lb]
[lb2][/lb2]
As the years passed, Kahako saw Satou occasionally every few months or years. Eventually, she grew out of her child-like innocence, and realized that the demon who haunted the man who saved her, also tormented him. Determined to find a way to save her friend, she joined the medical branch as Shinrya Kitsune's student. Her tenure as an MiT consisted of her learning all she could about the human mind. Psychology, therapy... eventually it lead to her realizing how little mental health assistance there was, not only for shinobi in general, but also those of the ANBU branch. After some convincing with the ANBU sennin and Isaki Kushin, the medical sennin of the time, Kahako became a member of the Sentou Henkan, and focused her studies and resources on providing, not only medical assistance, but mental assistance to the shinobi who policed the underbelly of Lightening Country. Impressed with Kahako's accomplishments, and knowing of the girl's abusive home life for being a shinobi, her sensei, Kitsune offered her a place within her family as daughter to the main branch. As the years progressed, Kahako's upbringing would prove itself useful, as she eventually became the heir-apparent to the clan of fire users. Kahako reached the dreams of her parents, but by her own merit, and in the end, in a way that only benefited her.
[lb2][/lb2]
In time, she also found that her deep connection to the element of water allowed her to use ninjutsu in a way that healed as much as it harmed. By the time she reached the rank of Mednin, she was a master water manipulator, often using her water jutsu to perform medical miracles that most medical jutsu could not. She also met the acquaintance of Kogami Ayumu, a shinobi under her care who loved to tease her (and watch her leave). Quickly, she grew a liking to the young man, but because of the rocky relationship her birth mother had with her father growing up, she withheld her affinity for him until one day he asked her on a date. Their relationship moved quickly from that point, and after a couple years of dating, they ended up with the wonderful accident that was Kogami-Shinrya Susumu.
[lb2][/lb2]
But her history, and consistent contact, with her first friend would eventually catch up to her. Before she had Susumu, she learned of a terrible secret of her friend, Satou. Not only had he lived as the demon's host for hundreds, if not thousands of years, the demon had hidden away memories, dreams that it tortured Satou with. With the help of an inventor by the name of Keiji, Kahako slipped into Satou's mind where she relived the last days of his wife, Ketsueki Sukino, is if they were her own. This dream would forever change her, for not only did she live the woman's gruesome death, but she also ended up consuming the piece of soul the demon ate upon Sukino's death. It was then that she learned, that not only did the demon consume the blood of other humans, but also hungered to collect other souls.
[lb2][/lb2]
With the rabbit hole opened, it wasn't long before she once again found herself back in Satou's memories. For the demon had consumed countless souls, and though she still didn't understand much of how it worked, some souls fought and clawed their way through Satou's mind, fracturing it and making his power dangerous and uncontrollable, even for her. With the help of Kitsune and Ayumu, Kahako once again entered Satou's mind. However, their escapade was short-lived, as Kahako, too torn by how the memory of this soul's last days played out, and realizing the true danger being the master of the demon was, took it upon herself to consume the violent soul. A desperate attempt to finally give Satou the peace she felt he deserved. This event almost killed her, but thanks to Kitsune, she survived the ordeal.[lb][/lb]
[lb2][/lb2]
At this time, the political climate of Kumogakure was not a calm one. Exposed for her hand in the death and cover-up of the Raikage, Hayata Shin, Kahako's adopted mother was forced to step down from her position as Medical Sennin. The new Raikage, Isaki Saito, called upon two medical chiefs, Kahako and Tsuyoshi Junko, to step forward as potential candidates for the position. Kahako emerged the victor and Medical Sennin, despite the question of her family's loyalties.
[lb2][/lb2]
Kahako held the position of Sennin for a few years, before one day, in a seemingly normal conversation with Junko, the second soul, Sakada, rose from the recesses of Kahako's subconscious. She viciously took control of Kahako's body, attacking Junko, and after a brief scuffle and the arrival of Ayumu, both were able to subdue Kahako until she was able to retake control of herself. Terrified at what became of her own mind, Kahako voluntarily stepped down from the position of Sennin, becoming a recluse of the Shinrya mansion. [lb2][/lb2]
Aftermath of a Fractured Mind (present day)[lb2][/lb2]
Months passed, and Kahako made very little contact with the outside world. Officially she was on 'medical leave'. This wasn't a lie, however only a select few knew that the 'medical leave' was due to how the two souls were actually chakra signatures who attacked themselves to Kahako's own chakra system. As a result, every time Kahako tried to use her chakra, it provided Sakada an avenue with which to take control. Even with the vast medical knowledge housed in Kumogakure's hospital, no one knew how to help the kunoichi remove the souls from without irreversibly damaging her own chakra system. She soon realized, that if she were to ever regain her life and sanity, she would need to find help elsewhere.
[lb2][/lb2]
And so with the pressure of healing her own mind, Kahako prepares herself for to travel outside the country for the first time in her life, hoping that she will once again find Satou, and hopefully a cure for her own broken mind.
