Removing ability: Hyperactive
Shinzo knew that the energy within him had to be focused, he could no longer allow it to control his behaviour, he had to channel it. But how? The first stop was the library, Shinzo sat alone in the library for days on end, fidgeting as he read through books about energy manipulation, but one specific book stood out to him above the rest: ‘The art of meditation’. The eight year old left the library with the book under his arm, smiling to the librarian as he borrowed it.
He made his way to a stream of clear blue water in the white oak district, skipping around it several times as he walked towards the water’s exit. He could see a shimmering pool of crystal like liquid spread out before him. The day was calm and so the gentle breeze only blew the occasional leaf onto the water, the ripples from the floating leaves served to create perspective in the water, to really show to Shinzo how one initial action can have waves of effects on the surrounding environment.
That thought of one initial action stuck in Shinzo’s mind as he sat by the water’s edge. He closed his eyes and began to calm his breath, three seconds in, three second out. Could he channel that energy into something more useful? Something at the beginning of an event, something that would make a difference in the wider area. He could still run all he liked, but now his mind would be more focused on controlling the boundless energy within him to act in a way more befitting to a shinobi. These thoughts continued to play on his mind as he crossed his legs and took a yet another deep breath, now he was in control of the energy within him.

The peacefulness of the calm water before him allowed for Shinzo to organise his thoughts. The deep breathing exercises he had been working on served to regulate the energy that coursed through his body. No longer did he simply let it take over his body and drive his actions, no that would be a hinderance as his abilities grew. A chick chirped from a nest in a tree next to him, only to jump out a moment later in an attempt to grasp its first flight. Shinzo looked up, this bird didn’t look like it could truly carry its own weight. He stood up in anticipation of the failure to come, in a second he dashed forwards with his right hand outstretched. The bird was unable to fly and plummeted to the ground, thankfully Shinzo was able to catch it. Though if he had acted any later it would have spelt doom for the fledgling.

Every single morning the sounds of blades ringing out into the crisp autumnal air willed Kisune park. The clear skies allowed for the sun to shine down on those that trained there, and without fail one of those practicing his martial prowess would be Shinzo. His swords sat upon his lower back in their sheath, senbon was laced into his hair and in several pouches across his body. Each day the training would begin with Shinzo’s first strike, designed to be quick and decisive in combat. Something he would have to rely on at the start of a fight or at a moment’s notice. With each day of practice, he grew faster in drawing his weapons, giving him more time to strike. Shinzo recognised that what came with this practice would be an invaluable skill.

The strange energy that coursed through Shinzo’s body had often caused him to perceive time at a slower rate than those around him. Could he be naturally manipulating it, he knew his uncle was a Seikon but his family had tried to distance themselves from that clan. They wanted a normal life, but Shinzo could not ignore what came naturally to him. He could bend space and time, even though this ability was confusing to him, his instincts often kicked in to allow him to react to something a split second faster than most. He had tried to understand it all his life, but now he was at the academy he knew that this skill, even if used unintentionally, was something that could potentially save his life.

Shinzo had spent weeks in the library, his observations of other students grasping the theory of battle had gotten to him. As the competitive young boy he was, he could not allow for himself to fall behind, that would be unacceptable. He powered through the books given to him by the librarian, he even stayed until closing on several nights. But the boredom in learning was more than worth it in his mind, he had to understand how Juko had gained the upper hand against him in their spar. He did things that Shinzo hadn’t even thought of, but he wouldn’t stay ahead of him for long.
