“Tread carefully up the twisted path into the forest. Search for the butterflies of paper on a tree out of place. The trial of your exam begins…Daisuke.” An old travelling man read aloud for other passersby. A few other folks dressed in warm furs listened to what the man was reading off the wooden post impaled into the earth. “What’s it mean? Good fortune?” Another man asked. “Good fortune? Nothing good happens further into the mountains. They say those who venture too deep turn into frozen statues.” A displeased look fell onto everyone’s face and the lot of them grew quiet. “Alright, Let's take the left from this fork in the road....” The old man's voice trailed off and the crunch of snow beneath their feet subsided over time.
The sign in the ground wasn’t a fake. Slowly it grew covered in snow as flakes fell from the sky. Prior to the sign getting stuffed into the ground Miro had a paper butterfly find its way to Daisuke. The butterfly capable of tracking a person's chakra if the user had met them before. Fluttering carefully through the entirety of Kumogakure it followed the trail of blue chakra. Once the paper butterfly landed on Daisuke’s shoulder it could be opened. The inside read “Follow a beaten path towards the mountain. Look for a sign covered in snow at the serpent's tongue on the road.” There was no signature but who else could produce chakra infused paper into origami shapes throughout Kumogakure?
“What do you intend to do with him if he passes.” A silvery voice echoed inside her head. ‘Prepare him for the field of course. Like my Anbu master would have wanted.’ “That’s it?” ‘Hell no. I need more reliable ninja in the Anbu. Peace within Kumogakure won’t last forever. No matter how you want to view it…’ Mirō’s mind trailed off. With her back pressed against a leafless birch tree in a field of needleless pines she awaited Daisuke. The path to her wasn’t dangerous. However, the vast forest covered in snow that led to the mountain, it was easy to get lost if you weren’t careful. Arms folded underneath her bust and into each opposing sleeve. Her long white robe blended perfectly with the snow around her and the white paper farmer's conical hat kept snow off her head and allowed her ears to pick up the faintest movements.
