Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Having had Siu as a 'mission companion' in one of his more previous missions, outside of ANBU business, opened his eyes to the skill level and how practiced some of the new-generation was. She was cute, but not the kind Kyo would pursue (yet) but she showed dazzling potential against those robo-bears and that mad-scientist. One thing she lacked was grit and confidence and it was up to Kyo to drill it into her, one-way-or-another. Well, she'd either leave confident or crushed after Kyo's examination of her. Hopefully, she would leave a stronger young woman than she was when she would first arrived to the middle of nowhere that Kyo asked her to appear.

Currently, Kyo is up in the mountains, upon a dangerous overhang overlooking the rest of the Lightning Country's mountain-ranges with the village being in clear-sight of where they were. They stood, upon this terrifying precipice, at about 12,000 feet (3657.6 meters) above sea-level. The little precipice that Kyo was on was the size of a small house with nothing acting as guard-rails. A pure, unadulterated ledge out, hovering over a the cold of the mountain. A raging fire could be seen on the precipice with Kyo wearing a heavy jacket with Dakota laying down next to the fire. Normally, Kyo wouldn't need to rely on heavy clothing for the cold but due to having lived like a human, his ability to remain adapted to the cold started to wane. The cold was starting to bother him so the ANBU fitted him with a fuzzy parka.

Kyo waited for Siu to arrive upon this dangerous cliff as the weather went from a flurry to a calm, still winter's day. The sun was shining bright through the cloudless sky, but the warmth had yet to strike Kyo, fully relying on the fire before him to keep him warm. Kyo pondered what he would teach her for today to make her rougher and tougher and hard-as-nails. This wasn't one of the students he wanted to torture to test their mettle. He actually wants this one to improve and get stronger. Why out here in the middle of nowhere upon this dangerously high cliff with no safety-guards? Because the scene is beautiful, that's why!

If Siu were to see Kyo, she'd also notice something different; his hair is now a fiery red instead of the jet-black that it was the last time they met each other. Once Siu arrives, he simply waved his hand at her with a "Yo!"

The village and landscape of Kumogakure oftentimes seemed to solely exist entirely for the purpose of serving every possible need for training any aspiring shinobi could imagine. One desiring to hone their skills in the ninja arts need look no further, for the entire land and it's surroundings offered a plethora of suitable training environments for pretty much every possible need; The Academy obstacle course, a multitude of dojos, and even the Ancient Forest itself. Therefore, it was not entirely unreasonable for any rational human being to question that fact of why, out of so many possible and far more convenient options, would anyone choose to perform their training on the icey cold mountains 12,000 feat above sea level in the middle of absolutely nowhere and completely isolated from all society and heating appliances. The answer, Siu found herself intensely more desirous to know with each and every step higher towards the designated peak. If she were asked to provide a suitable name for this mountain, she would name this place 'Mount Misery', for simply hiking up the thing was a rigorous training all in itself, before even reaching the actual lesson destination.

The rhythm of her panting gradually increased the higher she climbed, each breath visibly witnessed floating through the cold air with every struggled exhale. The only thing that was keeping the youth in well enough condition to actually have enough energy to partake in the training once she'd finally reach the top, was solely the fact that she had quite a lot of experience as a shinobi by now. Any average individual, or even less trained shinobi, would've very likely required days to reach the chosen destination in what took Siu hours. Her struggled panting, was not so much due from physical strain, rather than the increasingly low temperatures of the mountain the higher one ascended. What 'exactly' did Kyo have in mind to teach, which required her to be way up 'here' in the freezing cold?

When the shinobi finally reached her destination, the visible strain upon her face could be seen shifting into an expression of great relief. Kyo could seen greeting her in the distance with his feral companion close to a fire. A fire; now that seemed like a godsend. If she had been told to write a list of expected occurrences in the future, training under the tutorship of Kyo would have been nowhere on it. It was an occurrence which seemed extremely unlikely, almost impossible. And yet, today, here they were.
The young kunoichi hadn't seen the man for quite a long time; not since their mission together against mutated 'robo-bears'. Therefore, the youth's eyes widened with surprise, as she witnessed the new phenomenon upon his head. Wait, was her memory really 'that' bad?
"I could've sworn.." She subconsciously began. "..He had black hair?"
As she approached closer to the older shinobi, Siu realized she'd eventually have address the man as something; yet, what exactly to address him as, was kind of a complicated ordeal. To simply address him as 'Kyo' felt rather rude, since he would be teaching her, and additionally was still her elder. Yet to call him 'sensei' seemed quite awkward, as Kyo wasn't exactly the type that gave off the aura or demeanor of your standard 'sensei'. She contemplated this dilemma the entire approach, before eventually reaching close enough proximity to the duo at the campfire, to stop and provide a formal bow of greeting, "Greetings again Kyo-san!" She eventually settled with calling him. "It is a great pleasure to see you again!" She continued.
Placing her arms behind her back somewhat nervously, in order to muster courage, she eventually asked the question which had been fiercely burning in her mind since her ascent up 'Mount Misery'. "By the way...may I ask? Why are training way up 'here'?"

The Chronicles of Kyo-MoonRelated Information
"Cut it out with that formal crap and have a seat," Kyo said as he pulled the gloves from his hands to feel the warmth of the fire upon his palms. The blistering cold had passed and Kyo took a moment to let the warmth seep into the two of them before continuing on. "At least you had the guts to make it up here. It's a hell of a hike for someone your age to get up here," he said before standing up and quickly removed the coat from his body and let it fall to the ground. The cool air blew over his skin as he walked towards the edge of the cliff, looking over the mountain range and at Kumogakure in particular. Kyo stretched his arms straight up above his head and turned to look towards Siu and gestured towards her to come with. His eyes returned to the landscape for a brief moment.

"A man once told me that I was made a shinobi because of one thing and one thing only," Kyo said as he raised a hand, pointing a finger to the small village in the distance. Kaji, the vice commander of the ANBU had taken him to look over the land that they had jurisdiction over once before and it was something he was going to pass on to Siu. "That, right there, is the reason. For all of the good and for all of the bad, that was the reason I was made a shinobi of this village. Whether I liked it or not, that was it," Kyo said briefly before turning his head back towards the interior of the cliff, looking towards the face of the mountain that they were on.

"And as a shinobi, you will learn to have to kill people at one point in your career. Thinking you'd live this lifestyle and not kill someone is stupid thinking so perish that thought," Kyo said as he turned his head towards little Siu for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. "So, I will teach you a technique that is used as an assassination technique, observe," he said before stepping forward, away from the cliff and took a sturdy position with his legs spread out a bit wider than shoulder width, grabbing his wrists and held it firmly below his waist. The sound of high pitched crackling could be heard with the sounds of the cracking growing more and more frequent. As the cracking started, his hand started to become enveloped in a black and green light as if electricity was surging through his palms. With more concentration put into his palm, the energy grew exponentially before Kyo took off like a lightning bolt and appeared several meters away in a flash. His hand finished in a spear-tip like manner as if plunging his hand directly a target's chest. After a moment, the crackling stopped and Kyo turned to look towards Siu.

"Chidori is the name of the jutsu. Known to be able to assassinate people quickly and accurately. You are also able to turn it into the deadly Lightning Blade once you've practiced it a bit," Kyo said before walking his way back towards Siu, returning through the trench he had created. He was capable of mutating this jutsu's strength into something even MORE powerful than it's original inception, a skill that most shinobi wasn't able to perform making weaker jutsus extremely deadly. "Try it," he said before holding his hand out to Siu, giving her the platform to perform this.

"When you collect your chakra down to your palm, imagine someone you hate. Someone you want to kill -- and focus that power into your fingertips. Use that desire to kill something to propel you forward and land the final blow," Kyo said in a manner of instruction. He hoped that Siu wasn't so naive to think that she would never have that desire to kill someone. Most shinobi have lived a crappy life and Kyo expects Siu's life to be no exception. Everyone had, at the very least, one person they wanted to kill. It was natural for a warmongering society like the shinobi.

Well, it appeared she wouldn't have to stress too much on formal presentations. Once invited to sit at the fire, Siu wasted no time accepting the offer; the inviting warmth of the open flame gradually relieving the stress and strain she'd accumulated throughout the climb.
The young girl's curious eyes followed the man as he eventually stood up and made his way toward the cliff edge, also getting up herself to follow once he gave the gesture to join.

"A man once told me that I was made a shinobi because of one thing and one thing only,"

The Genin's eyes brightened with great interest after the statement. Shinobi-hood and it's purpose was something she'd been pondering upon for quite a long time by now. As he pointed his finger towards the landscape ahead, her curious eyes followed.

"That, right there, is the reason. For all of the good and for all of the bad, that was the reason I was made a shinobi of this village. Whether I liked it or not, that was it,"

There was a silence as she meditated upon his words, while observing the beautiful scenery of her home from afar; The home in which her family lived, the home in which her friends lived. "To protect a village..." The youth subconsciously affirmed, deeply contemplating the matter. However, before she'd had enough time to deeply ponder enough upon everything, Kyo would then switch the focus towards another important matter; the actual training.

"Assasin..ation...technique?" The kunoichi repeated back, somewhat surprised. While Siu had killed wild creatures and 'robo-bears' before, killing actual humans was a reality she hadn't quite partaken in yet. Though, at the same time, she also wasn't completely oblivious concerning the experience; If killing in reality was anything like the killing she'd performed in realistic genjutsu Shieo had placed upon her, that was. After such an experience, she could honestly say that she wasn't too enthusiastic concerning the idea at all. Yet, what Kyo spoke rang true; eventually she'd have to experience that bitter reality. Therefore, she'd need to pay close attention to what he'd be teaching her today, as it very likely would be something she'd be required to make use of in the future when that time came.

As the elder shinobi suddenly began preparations for the technique, the kunoichi's eyes were firmly fixated upon him, making sure not to miss a beat in hopes of perfectly mimicking whatever would be required of her to perform the same.
The high pitched crackling sound and cracking caught her by surprise, and put her somewhat on guard, before the appearance of a black and green could be seen dancing throughout his palms like heavily concentrated lightening. A single eye blink later, the image of the man suddenly disappeared, causing a moment of great bewilderment, before the youth quickly turned her head in order to realize his new location.
"A..amazing..." She mumbled in awe. The speed of the jutsu's execution was extraordinary. Siu couldn't tell whether the technique was to be classified as a ninjutsu or taijutsu. It charged as a ninjutsu, sure enough, yet it's speed and execution performed like a taijutsu of some sort. She would be learning 'that'?

The older shinobi additionally went on to speak something about Lightening Blade's, which sounded quite intriguing, and then further went on to speak about an intent to hate and kill, which of course sounded less intriguing; Yet, the main focus for Siu at given moment, was first properly focusing chakra to her palms in order to even begin manifesting the technique properly without messing it up. The rest she'd worry about later as she went. Thankfully enough, due to rigorous tree climbing and water walking trainings in the past, focusing chakra was something she had become quite familiar and skilled with by now.
Bringing a tight grip around her own left wrist with her right hand, mimicking the preparations and stance she'd observed from Kyo, the young kunoichi would begin focusing her chakra towards her left palm in her attempt to form her first Chidori. Hopefully a successful one...

The young kunoichi started to concentrate her chakra into her palm, causing Kyo to move out of the way but head towards here at the same time. Once he came within earshot of her, he continued to mentor her on how to use it. "Good. Focus all of your chakra into your hand. Take whatever lightning chakra you could muster and focus everything into your palm. For this lesson, pretend there is a target right there and once you area ready, rush 20 meters through that imaginary target. Don't stop at the target, push through the target!" Kyo said with intensity, his voice growing increasingly louder as he continued.

Kyo took another step back and simply awaited Siu's execution of this technique. He turned his head to look towards Dakota for a moment and hooked his head over to where he was hiding something, something that Dakota was directed to retrieve. Catching Kyo's command, Dakota took off and disappeared as if to go fetch whatever it was that she was to retrieve. After seeing Dakota take off like a bolt of lightning, Kyo turned his attention back towards Siu to observe her progress.

Despite the outward simplicity of the technique, based upon mere observation and explanation alone, the actual practice of it proved to be far more complicated than the young kunoichi had assumed. The Genin also found herself rather surprised by the tremendous amount of chakra required in order to actually manifest the technique.

A sudden, single spark emitted around her hand, followed by another spark, and then another. The number of sparks, as well as the frequency in which they visibly appeared increased as time went on, until eventually something akin to the appearance of highly concentrated electricity fully emitted from her entire hand. Due to this high concentration of electricity, a sound akin to an uncountable number of high-pitched bird chripings loudly echoed from her position throughout the mountain. The rather abnormal, high-pitched sound initially disturbed the kunoichi. One could even say, it almost become obnoxious after a certain point.
Unlike Kyo's green and black colored manifestation of the technique, however, Siu's own version of the technique emitted the natural blue color of lightening chakra instead. Upon recognizing this detail, the Genin assumed that there must have been much more to the older shinobi's version of the jutsu, than meets the eye. For now, however, she'd mainly focus upon her own technique; That part alone was already demanding enough.

"Ive...i've done it!" The young kunoichi happily informed her mentor, an accomplished smile visible upon her lips.

Now on to the second part...

With the first part of the technique completed, Siu's mind then began to recall the second set of instructions Kyo had given her.
"When you collect your chakra down to your palm, imagine someone you hate. Someone you want to kill -- and focus that power into your fingertips. Use that desire to kill something to propel you forward and land the final blow,"

"Someone...I hate? The youth subconsciously pondered, "Someone..I want to kill?" That part, might have actually been more difficult than the manifestation of the jutsu. Just 'who' did she hate? Just 'who' did she want to kill? After some contemplation, her mind began to reflect back upon her experiences within the nightmare realm; the unnatural and distorted entities with faces of murderous intent in which she'd been forced to confront there. The kunoichi bit her lip upon having to re-imagine the severely gruesome scene, feeling even somewhat disgusted by the very thought of it. For the sake of her training, however, she would have to push her personal feelings aside.

Still tightly gripping her left wrist, Siu crouched in preparation for a forward launch. While not quite launching with the same speed as the older shinobi, the young Genin still managed to move with surprisingly great speed nonetheless. Masses of adrenaline rapidly flushed throughout her body, as she suddenly found herself moving at a speed neither her eyes nor her mind could keep up with.
Even so, the execution of the jutsu seemed to be going well; that was, until about 6 meters into her charge, when the lightening chakra emitting from her hand suddenly came to an abrupt cease. Her speed suddenly reduced back to normal from the unexpected occurrence, and with little more than a split second to react, the kunoichi's previous momentum sent her flying forward and violently colliding to the ground. Rolling about and sliding a number of feet forward with an audible 'Oompf' exhaling from her lips, the youth laid there for a few moments, groaning in bodily ache.
"....Ow." She groaned as she slowly pushed herself up, holding a aching back. This might take longer than expected...

The Chronicles of Kyo-MoonRelated Information
Little by little and one spark after the next started to gather around Siu's palm before there was an explosion of power, having a consistent mass of electrical energy sustained upon her palm. The color of her electrical chakra was normal, as opposed to Kyo's cursed chakra. Kyo noted this difference, not having really taken notice himself until just now. Consuming the demonic archer that was pursuing him really changed the color of everything he did; thanks for that. There was a look of delight upon the little girl's face as she was carefully able to solidify the jutsu and Kyo responded with only a nod as if to tell her to proceed. While the jutsu materialized, the only thing remaining is the execution. "An offensive jutsu is measured in it's ability to kill, so holding it in your hand does nothing but give an annoying show of sound and color. Make some use of it," Kyo mentioned.

There was a moment of hesitation causing Kyo to cross his arms over his chest and observe the little girl. Was it possible for someone to not hate something? The idea crossed his mind and he couldn't compute that train of thought. Coming from someone borne out of hatred and someone who was hated by those he loved dearly, the thought of hating someone wasn't out of the ordinary; it was actually hammered into his consciousness as he spent 10 years of his life upon the Spine of the World. Not hating someone was simply something that Kyo couldn't relate to.

It was then that the execution of the jutsu finally happened. Kyo looked on in approval for a moment before he noticed the charge was bogged down by something, causing her to stop, letting gravity and air resistance slow her down instead of cutting through the wind with the awesome power of the Chidori. Upon seeing this, Kyo lowered his hands down to his side and walked over to her. "What happened? Everything was going just fine. You must have stopped your concentration. Either way, you did well for that being your first time," Kyo said as he turned his head to see Dakota carrying a sack that had something squirming around inside of it. A single wave forward to beckon the massive wolf over was all that was needed before Dakota dumped the bag with Kyo removing the bag from whatever was in there.

Inside, there was a man that was bound at the wrists behind his back along with having his ankles and knees bound individually. He pulled the man up slighly to put him on his knees directly in front of Siu. The man looked to be in his mid-fourties with thinning hair. He looked around for a moment to get his bearings straight before he looked up to Kyo for a moment and started screaming at him, muffled through the ball-gag in his mouth. Kyo leaned down and patted the man upon his cheek with a sadistic grin upon his face. "This, little Siu, is a man named Kokunaga Jioku. He has a history of," Kyo said as he pauses for a moment to think of the proper word to say. This kind of wording wasn't in his current vernacular. "'hurting children' let's say. He also has a tendency to kill them after he has had his way with them. I was going to execute this piece of shit," he said before punching the man in the face and catching him by his collar as he recoiled back from the strike. "but I left that honor to you," Kyo said before removing the ball-gag from the scum-bag's mouth.

"That hurt! But you brought me a delicious morsel, didn't you, Mister Kyo? I don't care if you kill me, just let me have my way with her and then you can kill me," he said before clearing his throat and turned to look towards Siu. "C'mon, little girl. I'll show you a good time," he said causing Kyo to roll his eyes and pull out a small knife from his pocket and place it into the bound hand of the man sitting upon his knees. Kyo turned to look back towards Siu for a moment. "I've given this man a way out of his restraints. What will you do, Siu? Kill him or not? I don't suggest letting him live if I were you. He seems like a hungry animal. If you do kill him, use that technique you just learned," Kyo said before taking a step back. Dakota, as well, took a step back away from this.

After moving to another position so that he could observe, he felt a sharp pain in his head. The image of the damned demon in the statue appeared in his mind. This was similar to what that demon would do. He was forced to eat people in front of the statue for the demon's amusement. Certainly, Kyo isn't doing this for his own personal amusement but to teach her a lesson on the harsh realities of being a shinobi. It was a dangerous world where one must kill or be killed, which was the lesson he's trying to drive home right now. The nagging feeling that he's emulating that damn dragon statue did start to wear at him -- even visibly showing. However, it was currently Siu's turn to do what she must. Will she kill the man or will she let the man escape and attack her or will Kyo have to intervene to ensure Siu's safety?

If Siu doesn't hesitate, the man will remain restrained
If Siu hesitates (for too long) the man will break out of his restraints and attack Siu
If Siu doesn't kill him this post, Kyo will intervene next post and save her.

There was noticeable disappointment written upon the young girl's face as what initially appeared to be hopeful potential of some sort, abruptly turned into an embarrassing display of failure. While Kyo had inquired the source of her failure, the reasoning behind the unexpected phenomenon was just as much of a puzzle for the Genin as it was for him. The youth rarely lacked chakra for performing techniques, therefore it was quite unlikely that she'd suddenly run out of chakra. The most probable explanation was that she'd lost concentration during the technique. Yet, as to exactly 'why' she'd lost concentration, was a mystery for her. Perhaps, subconsciously, she'd lacked the willpower to complete the assault upon her imaginary enemy?
While she'd additionally received a compliment for the progress of her first performance, the kunoichi still found herself quite embarrassed by not being able to completely fulfill all the necessary requirements of the task.

The familiar Direwolf would be seen returning with an oversized sack of some sort. Ninja tools perhaps? No wait; Inside, something was....squirming? The youth rose an inquisitive eyebrow at the scene. Just what exactly had the older shinobi's companion brought? Siu would soon receive her answer, as the Direwolf eventually dumped the bag on the ground for Kyo to remove the squirming contents from.
The kunocihi's eyes immediately widened in great shock. "A person?!" What was the meaning of this? What exactly was going on, right now? Had he been kidnapped? That likely might have been the Genin's first conclusion; However, she had already had Kyo as a companion for a mission in the past. Wild and untamed he was, yet a cruel kidnapper without legitimate intent was something she knew he was not.

Kyo would eventually reveal the purpose behind bringing the bound man. "A criminal.." The youth mumbled in silent confirmation. As a fist swung through the air to strike the victim, however, Siu slightly winced at the scene, squinting her eyes somewhat as if attempting to obscure her view of the incident. Something about seeing the bound man assaulted despite knowledge of the fact that he was a criminal, still bothered her. Even though, logically, she perhaps had no reason to feel such a way. Concern for the well-being of others, it seemed, was something deeply ingrained within the very fiber of the kunochi's being, and not something she could easily ignore.
Yet, surprisingly enough, even something as deeply ingrained in Siu's strong concern for the well-being of others would be questioned the moment Kyo removed the gag from the bound man's mouth. A disturbed grimace formed upon the youth's face upon hearing the criminal's words. It appeared that, even in the face of death, he still had no shame.
The next scene to unfold, would be something that would forever change the shape of the young girl's life. As Kyo provided the criminal a means of escape, the youth's eyes followed the older shinobi with great confusion, as him and his companion stood back in order to observe the outcome. Her pupils dilated, as if she greatly desired to say something in opposition, yet could not find words.

As the sounds of a anxious breathing and rope cutting emitting from the bound man's location, the young Genin could feel her heartrate increasing with each passing second; What would she do? Would she really kill a man? Undoubtedly, there was a lot going on through her mind right now.
"Kill him..? The youth internally debated, "Is..this the right decision? He is a criminal...but..." Her heartrate and anxiety continued to increase to the point where sweat became visible upon her face from the decision, despite the low temperatures of the mountain. She'd never been pushed into situation such as this before, where the judgement of a person's very life was to be decided by her own hands, and the limited time only made the decision that much more stressful. "Even If he is a monster....wouldn't killing him also make 'me' a monster?
The sounds of rope cutting intensified; the man was almost at the point of completely cutting the binds from around his wrist. The youth crouched in preparation again, bringing her right hand to her left wrist. She was running out of time to make her decision. The familiar sound akin to numerous bird chiripings echoed throughout the mountain again, as the kunoichi again manifested the jutsu, startling the man. What would she do? Would she really kill a man?

"How..many?" The young Genin suddenly inquired. Visually, the jutsu was fully prepared for execution, yet the young girl's indecisive and fearful expression communicated otherwise. A more thorough observation of her, would additionally reveal her hands and knees to be trembling. "Didn't you feel any guilt? Any sympathy? Any sorrow?"

"Hmph." The bound man nonchalantly brushed off, returning back to the process of cutting his bonds.

"Answer me!" The youth suddenly exclaimed, more aggressively than her usual self, hints of tears forming in her eyes.

It would not be long, before the man eventually freed his legs, a victorious exhale of relief emitting from his lips as he slowly stood up, cracking his neck and stretching out the stiffness from his body due to his previously bound state.

"How many?!" The youth reiterated more sternly, jutsu still strongly concentrated in hand.

As if the young girl's words were entirely nonexistant, the freed criminal, knife still in hand, then suddenly made his charge towards the youth. It would be then, in what seemed to merely be split seconds, the kunoichi's image suddenly vanished. The sound of a knife dropping to the ground echoed. The older man's eyes noticeably enlarged, almost protruding, as he stood there, his mind desperately attempting to make sense of things. He attempted to say something, however, all that escaped as he opened his mouth was a throatful of blood.

"How many?!" The youth more solemnly exclaimed, looking upwards towards her victim, tears apparent in her eyes. "How many innocent children's lives did you take? When they screamed and begged for mercy, didn't you feel anything?!" All that continued to escape from the older man's lips were mouthfuls of blood, as the youth's arm remained lodged through his chest. Any words he'd wanted to form at this point seemed nigh impossible. The concentrated lightening around the Genin's hand would gradually die down, as she placed her other hand upon the man's chest, in order to push her assaulting arm free, before taking a few steps back. The man's assaulted body simply stood there for a few moments, before he eventually dropped to his knees, and fell over to the ground. The deed was done.

The young girl stood there, her arm heavily stained with her victim's blood, tears visibly falling to the ground as she looking downwards. Though the action was now done, guilt still lingered in her mind; Had she done the right thing or not?

"Kyo-san.." The kunoichi eventually managed to speak through heavy weeping, a faceful of tears. "Am I...a monster?"

The Chronicles of Kyo-MoonRelated Information
Kyo watched intently as the man started to cut the ropes before Siu poured her heart out into the assassination technique. The sounds of birds couldn't cover up the lump in her throat, forcing the question out to the man before eventually striking him down. After the man fell down, Kyo walked over to the crying child and put his arms around her in a manner to comfort her. Even animals, from his experience, felt awkward and scared of their first kill but everything is eventually learned. His shirt started to dampen from the tears in her eyes.[lb2][/lb2]
"No, it doesn't make you a monster. It makes you a shinobi," Kyo said in a calm and level tone to not excite her emotional response to killing a man any further. What the man said about the criminal's past was completely true. He disliked killing for the sake of killing; only those that need to be killed for the sake of the pack, the village and those that live there, were all that he killed. A wasteful kill, even in the wild, was something frowned upon. One doesn't kill more than they needed to eat and one didn't seek out things to kill for the sake of doing so. It violated natural order. That was the mantra Kyo lived by, even if he was consumed by demons and even indebted to one. He still had his principles.[lb2][/lb2]
During this time, Dakota dragged the body off in order to bury it. Didn't seem like the first time Kyo and Dakota had to dispose of a corpse. If anyone here was a monster, it was Kyo. He had a history of indiscriminately killing people simply due to rage with the memory of his wolf-mother and Dakota's twin sister being killed by humans. He still wrestled with the idea that his memories were tampered by a fiendish organization embedded within Kumogakure so he was just as confused as the little girl he forced to make her first kill. "Welcome to the pack, pup," Kyo said as he continued to hug the child in order to comfort her for a brief moment longer.

"No, it doesn't make you a monster. It makes you a shinobi,"

The older male's words held a logic completely comprehensible, yet at the same time rather foreign to the younger girl's ears. For the longest time, the kunoichi had associated the two descriptions to be one of the same, almost inseparable from one another. Could there really be a difference between the two? Could she truly continue to walk this bloody path without eventually losing her humanity?
Undoubtedly, the criminal deserved his death, yet Siu continued to question her own morality. This was the first kill she'd ever executed someone in reality, and yet that was not even the most fearful part of it all. The realization that such an experience would not end here, yet continually repeat itself more frequently in the future as she continued to walk down this path is what frightened her the most. If she continued down this road, who would she become? 'What' would she become?

The older shinobi comforted the youth in her distress. While it couldn't remove her great fear and anxiety for the future, it did ease the bitterness of the moment. The two were bonded by their shared lifestyle, unrelated by blood; Yet, the older shinobi's embrace provided a comfort her own family wouldn't be able to provide. How could they possibly understand and relate to the events that happened today without being shinobi? The daughter they once knew had long disappeared the moment she'd entered the academy; and after today's events, Siu's fate as a shinobi seemed completely sealed. Reality was a bitter cup to drink.

"Welcome to the pack, pup,"

Perhaps, finally, the young kunoichi was truly beginning to realize what it meant to walk the path of a shinobi.
