Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Miko

Name: Tanaka Miko

Age: 12 y/od

Gender: Male

Height: 1.49 M

Weight: 95 Lbs

Build: Slim

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral|The Unbound
Shikigami

Ten years.

Ten years I was tortured, forced to live in darkness, concealed by the shadows of those around me. I was alone in a crowd of thousands, I was misunderstood, and I was deprived of the ability to communicate because of my birth situation. But not anymore; I am no longer alone, my circle expands by the day, I stand proud, confident, powerful… because I am a shinobi… because I am unique. No longer am I another face in the crowd.

I – will – be – king.

Physical Description:
[spoilername="-----"]As any healthy twelve year old, Miko stands at about 4.6 feet off the ground. His slim, oval face is decorated with sky blue eyes that are rather big for such baby proportions. His silky hair hangs just an inch below his shoulder, and it takes a silver shade, though for years it has been showing signs of darkening, slowly transforming into a rather greyish hue. Under his dark-colored garments are a set of slim muscles, strong, but serving for stamina and agility rather than brute strength.[/spoilername]|
Attire:
[spoilername="-----"]-Black hooded shirt. / Long sleeved. / Whether or not he is making use of the hood depends on the situation.
-Average-looking dark shinobi cargo pants / toe showing shoes that everyone else wears.
-Grey bandit mask. / Usually hangs around his neck instead of covering his face.
-Black cape, trimmed with red lines at the side and edges. / Tied to the back of his waist. / The cape is split in two as to resemble a split tail.[/spoilername][/col]

[col]
Mental Description:
[spoilername="-----"]Miko is the complete opposite to his twin brother, Jun, in terms of personality. Those who note it often declare that Miko was the one to draw the short straw in the moment of conception. He is rather cold, and unforgiving, and often carries around the storms that flooded his emotions the day his sister died. The boy has difficulty making friends, for he is not the type to go around introducing himself to others, or waste time doing chit chat. He enjoys being around his brother; since both dwell in an extreme, together they seem to complete each other and create a balance in each situation. Miko rarely takes the initiative, and when he does, it is because there is something he wants to gain from whatever drives him. Once he gets what he wanted from someone, he sees no use in hanging around that individual anymore. It is a great difficulty for Miko to trust someone, since he always sees the bad in each situation. Due to this, he only acts after taking a moment to think about the possibilities each outcome may bring.

Between the twins, there is a constant battle to see who is superior, but in secret, one wouldn’t be able to live without the other. One way to describe Miko would be as an observer, due to the fact that he is more of a strategist than a hot-head. He likes to learn, because every piece of information, in his mind, is an asset pertaining a strong defense towards unprecedented events or situations.[/spoilername]|
Backstory:
[spoilername="-----"]There isn’t much to be said at this age. Miko lives the life of an ordinary kid. With his twin brother Jun, he enjoyed exploring his backyard and even further than the hedge. He crossed creeks, he jumped in puddles during the rain and in mud after it, he drew houses and animals, he learned the art of folding paper, and most of all- he enjoyed fighting and arguing with his brothers over who got to be leader that time. Miko was an ordinary boy, with an extreme personality, just like Jun. Both are the sides of a coin, different, yet making only one coin in junction.

A few years after the birth of the twins, Miyo, their older sister disappeared, and until this time has been presumed dead. There was a river close to the house, and it is apparent that she drowned and was carried away by the current, yet the body has never been found. This triggered a chain of unfortunate events for the family, as average as it had been. Their older brother became mentally unstable when the news about his twin arrived.

From the side of his mother, Miyo, Miko is related to the Tanaka clan, who has no history of bloodlines; the first kunoichi being Tanaka Hikari. From the side of his father, Dekomori Satou, the family was awarded with the alpha gene that brought the anomaly of the twins. The Dekomori clan, although with little to no history of ninjas, has had an abnormal amount of twins in the family. It is said that those pertaining to this clan, or sharing the genes, have a rather extreme personality, which is balanced by that of another family member; usually a twin or a close aged sibling.

Time went by and the Tanaka twins joined the academy. Two years reached an end quickly, the second even more boring than the first. Nothing interesting happened until Miko learned that there was more to the Dekomori clan, than he had been told. He no tries desperately to join the hidden branch of his clan, a branch with a fascinating history of exemplary shinobi trained in the art of illusion.[/spoilername][/col]

:-::States::-:
[spoilername="-----"]
  1. Dreamer, ambitious, and manipulative: Miko stops at nothing to acquire what his heart desires. He will use you if you are deemed necessary, and dispose of you when you are not needed anymore. This is triggered by: His desire to prove he’s better than others, after a life of being shunned, and second to his brother.
  2. Cautious and reflective: Miko plans ahead of everything, he tries to resolve every situation in his mind before acting. Due to this, he constantly has the first hand, but if the event of his loss took place, he would use it to his advantage in order to learn instead of dwelling in it. This is triggered by: Years of being second to everyone and learning the way things are done.
  3. Creative, inventive and imaginative: Miko won’t only try to win; he will do his best to do it in the coolest way possible, for his aim is not only to conquer, but to impress. This is triggered by: (Same as above)
  4. Witty, radical, rebellious, and mischievous: Chaos follows him wherever he goes; it is as if he is cursed with his nature. His personality is extreme, and the opposite of his brother’s. He often feels the urge to contradict. He feels as if the world is against him, and that his way is true. This is triggered by: His extreme personality and nature.
  5. Tricky and jealous: If you’re at the top, and he has a chance to take your place, he will. It is hard to know what he will do, for his mind is constantly changing with every situation, and adapting to different outcomes. This is triggered by: (Same a #1)
  6. Religious and devout: He believes that he and his brother, as part of the Dekomori clan, are a manifestation of a deity called “Kaoshogai”, the spirit of chance. He is 100% devout, and is starting to come up with his own religion. He thinks that true beauty is a product of chaos, and if you insult it, he will not think twice in blowing you up to prove it. He does not tolerate anything that goes against his beliefs because he thinks that he will be punished by bad luck if he lets something slip, and reward with good luck if he fulfills his duty. This is triggered by: The occurrence at “Starlight Grotto”.
  7. Melancholic and sensitive: He is very sensitive, and even a small insult would hurt his psycho. Be careful of what you say to him, for he is unstable, and has a love and affinity to explosions. This is triggered by: His past.

Explosive Art - Passive
The Toujigikou are unique when it comes to chakra; Theirs is highly explosive. Though volatile and dangerous, these skillful craftsmen manipulate and shape their combustive energy into many shapes and forms, and overtime, can control their explosive chakra with such mastery that they are able to merge it with other Ninja Arts, for an Explosive Masterpiece.

Abstract Detonation - Passive
The Toujigikou believe that fine art is the beauty of the single fleeting moment of explosion, when their majestic works of art detonate into a fierce, transient explosion. Art is a beauty to behold, so believe those of the clan. An Artist knows the importance of Detail, and naturally they take in and note details of their environment subconsciously. Naturally, they despise the arts of Genjutsu believing it a crude method of obscuring the expressionism behind their Art, and because of this the clan has developed a peculiar ability to see through illusions and view the true nature of the environment, giving their sense of realism an edge against the Illusionary Arts.

:-::The Dekomori Clan::-:
"Reality is an opinion
...and life is but an illusion"

Description

The Dekomori are a clan lost in the shadows of history. Since its divide, two branches have taken the name, and although they both descend from the same clan, they couldn’t be more different. The Dekomori aren’t the best taijutsu users, but there are few who match them in their use of illusion (genjutsu). Following tradition, the members of the clan take pride in their “spiritual ancestry”, and therefor choose a devote path towards the keeping of shrines. During rituals, they are seen wearing white half-masks, which resemble those used in masquerades, except for a few morbid details. They also take the job of keeping the cemetery in whatever village they may be. Due to the before-mentioned, they are often called “grave-keepers” (see: Public Branch) or “dream-eaters” (see: Secret Branch), although they do not like those names and would rather be called “The head of the Church of Eight”. The double eclipse that makes up their seal is a symbol to the downfalls the clan has had in the past, two falls that only served to build up for a greater climax.
History

The Dekomori date back to the days of old, when the spirit war was still raging in the world of the living. Faced by oblivion, they pleaded for help, and a single spirit came to their aid, Kaishogai the spirit of chance (Minor Spirit). Of course, it was in this particular spirit’s nature to leave them alone to their luck, but during that time, there was a bigger power surging through that spirit’s mind, the power of greed and opportunity. In a fascinating turn of events, the spirit offered to hide the clan from further abuse under one condition: they were to serve as an experiment to the curse of destiny.

Little did the members of the Dekomori clan know that the supposed aid was more of a curse, and so bound to the chains of their new destiny, they each had become warped in-between reality and illusion, losing the ability to differentiate one from the other. Nevertheless, they honored the contract by conquering lands far and wide and building shrines for the spirits here and there. Soon, though, they were overpowered from within, and members started to drift away from the war-driven destiny they had chosen, until the clan broke apart entirely.

In present day, the two branches remain, one which eventually moved to the outsides of the fire country in hopes of peace, and one who, in contrast lives in secret throughout the many hidden villages in the continent. The second branch, the true Dekomori, and keepers of the secret technique, are slowly growing by adding more and more shinobi to their ranks. Still bound by the chains of their ancient curse, they have administered the church of nine in secrecy… but soon enough – the Dekomori shall rise again.

  • The Public Branch:
Tired of war, many members of the Dekomori clan deserted the main group in order to live peaceful lives away from their curse. Eventually, those lost members found refuge in Fire country, where they established a new clan complex, in hopes of creating a second branch apart from their war-making brothers. As the main branch died out and resorted to living in secrecy, the peaceful branch of the Dekomori was thought to be the only left. Still, they honored their contract of building and keeping shrines all across the country.

  • The Secret Branch:
Lost - after many defeats, and barely handling the weight of their curse, the remaining members of the Dekomori went into hiding to prevent their enemies from attaining the vengeance they hoped. Villages all across the continent contracted shinobi clans to hunt them down, and partially succeeded. After learning that their hiding places were being discovered, and their kin were being slaughtered, the remaining members came to the conclusion that their best choice was to make use of their curse to hide in plain light instead. They changed their names, they dressed differently, even their new personalities contrasted their past; the remaining members went to live to the very villages in which their hunters resided. Instead of openly admitting they were the true Dekomori, they created a secret society, and in the shadows they administered the “Church of Eight”.

In present day, the Dekomori have come out of hiding in order to once again pursue their destiny and stand above all clans. With the death of the Public Branch's leader, the Secret Branch claims their place as the true members once and for all, cutting their bloodline share with those that deserted them long ago.

  • The Evolving Curse and The Church of Eight:
The Dekomori honored the contract their forefathers once made with the spirit of chance, their chosen destiny being that of conquerors. They built shrines across the many countries, in many villages, atop mountains and inside forests; the Church of Eight was slowly growing. Clans were starting to declare certain spirits their patrons; the Dekomori had succeeded. But little did they know that upon succeeding – what they called destiny had vanished, a curse which had dictated their way if life for many years, a way of life that they had grown attached to… they dared not hand it in as easily as it was bestowed upon them. Committed to keep their wretched eyes, feared across lands, the sign of their power, they placed another burden on their shoulders. Once again - the spirit of chance appeared before them, and once again – he cursed them with the chains of destiny; once again – the Dekomori had attained mastery over their vulture eyes in exchange for becoming the heralds of the monster who called himself Kaoshogai.

Dekomori Attributes

  • Lunacy:
Don't think of a Dekomori as your average madcap, for they are not even close in comparison. Their schizophrenic personality is caused not by mental disease, but by a curse; a curse that takes away their ability to differ reality from illusion. They are constantly seeing things which others do not see, due to their active imagination. Because this is a curse that begins as soon as an individual becomes a member of the clan, the effects can be devastating at first, but little by little they are suppressed by mastery of their “cursed eyes”. (NOTE: No need to RP being insane.)
  • Malevolent Vision:
With no actual name, their eyes are known as “the gift of nightmare” or “fear-vision”, for their purpose is not only show. A present from a spirit as a way of protecting the clan from the spirit war, the eyes are gifted with the ability to pass their curse upon others. With mastery of the eyes, the user is able to make the unreal – real, and bring judgment upon their enemies without moving a finger. The sudden heavy hallucinations experienced by the victim are often enough to bring it down, but if it proves to not be, then those hallucinations are made reality (through the eyes) in order to inflict physical damage. In the past, clan members concealed their eyes to prevent people from noticing their roots, but as the public forgot their antagonistic backstory, the Dekomori began taking pride in their eyes once more. Taking an unnatural nebula-like explosion of color, the eyes of the Dekomori are said to be unique, for is you look closely enough, in its reflection you will not see as it is supposed to be, but rather what that person is seeing, with illusions and all. (If you are born Dekomori, this can evolve into the Sharingan. If not, then this is flavoring for Shinobi 101: Genjutsu.)

  • Signature: Hijutsu no baku (Secret Technique of Baku, the eater of dreams.):
A devastating explosion, a wide tsunami, an inescapable tornado, an earth-shaking boulder-drop, or a display of deadly lights, it doesn’t matter how big the jutsu is, it doesn’t matter – for no one will ever see it if its only present inside someone’s mind… that is, of course, until the victim drops. The Dekomori can learn the most gigantic and impressive jutsu, yet - their kill will always be silent, for with the power of their curse, they take you to a world where illusion becomes a reality for all inside. This world is a place where the deepest terrors, the deepest fears of humanity become real, and take the shape of the angel of death.

Membership

  • Birth: All those who are born into the Dekomori clan are to be trained, and later - tested, in order to be granted membership. They shall complete the "Test of Fears" in order to be granted the "Malevolent Vision" which will mark their complete union.

  • Adoption: In the event that an individual of exemplary ability wants to join the clan, he/she shall be trained further, until he/she is ready to take the “Test of Fears”, which -upon success- will mark their complete union to the clan.

  • Forced Adoption: In the event that a young child of strong blood crosses the path of a member of the clan, with the necessary rank, he/she should be forcibly adopted for further training and development of the clan’s own bloodline. In time, the child shall undergo the “Test of Fears”, which –upon success- will mark their complete union to the clan. IMPORTANT: It is enforced that the child joining through this method should not be left with any memory of this event, or their lives prior to this. (NOTE: The clan's main bloodline is Uchiha. Other bloodlines are still possible through this method, and the evolution through breeding.)

  • The Test of Fears: This is a sacred trial which every member of the Dekomori must undergo in order to acquire the curse of their ancestors, as well as the gift of the “Malevolent Vision”. As the name hints, the test induces the greatest fears of those enduring the trial in order to test: strength of mind, intelligence, and dexterity.

The Dekomori value the above mentioned above all.

The Church of Eight

Description

To honor the eight spirits responsible for creation and chakra, the Church of Eight was created. In ancient times the church was small, situated only in a single village, but with the pass of time – it grew. Now, each of the eight spirits has shrines all across the continent, from the land of snow to tea country. The Church of Eight is not to be confused with the ordinary cults though, for its purpose is not only to honor the spirits, but to push humanity forward in a chase towards enlightenment. Publicly, the organization takes charge of several jobs and ceremonies, including the keeping of shrines, and the keeping of the artifact library. Secretly, the organization has a dark side as well, for in order to chase their true goals, they have to build up first.

[col]
Goals
The Church of Eight seeks to draw attention to the spirits responsible for life and chakra. This is a good thing, and a bad thing, for their reasons are still unclear to the public. Members of the church build shrines all across the continent, in addition to administering these shrines. They teach that humanity should not fear the spirits, for it was proven before (see: The Great Human Rebellion) that once alive and intelligent, we have no need for most.|
The Four Great Spirits
  • Fuji: The Continental Plane. (He makes up the earth in which we live.)
  • Wakaukanome: She who brings health. (This spirit alone is responsible for the growth of agriculture.)
  • Omopu: She who grants will. (This spirit is responsible for humans having free-will and intelligence.)
  • Bishamon: The War-bringer. (He brings war on those who defy him. The church honors him in hopes of an alliance.)
[/col]

The Four Legendary Beasts:
  • Genbu: The black tortoise. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Water) 水 Sui or mizu, meaning "Water", represents the fluid, flowing, formless things in the world. Outside of the obvious example of rivers and the lakes, plants are also categorized under sui, as they adapt to their environment, growing and changing according to the direction of the sun and the changing seasons. Blood is represented by sui, as are mental or emotional tendencies towards adaptation and change. Sui can be associated with emotion, defensiveness, adaptability, flexibility, suppleness, and magnetism.

  • Byakko: The white tiger. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Earth) 地 Chi or tsuchi, meaning "Earth", represents the hard, solid objects of the earth. The most basic example of chi is in a stone. Stones are highly resistant to movement or change, as is anything heavily influenced by chi. In people, the bones, muscles and tissues are represented by chi. Emotionally, chi is predominantly associated with stubbornness, collectiveness, stability, physicality, and gravity. It is a desire to have things remain as they are; a resistance to change. In the mind, it is confidence.

  • Sukaku: The vermilion bird. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Fire) 火 Ka or hi, meaning "Fire", represents the energetic, forceful, moving things in the world. Animals, capable of movement and full of forceful energy, are primary examples of ka objects. Bodily, ka represents our metabolism and body heat, and in the mental and emotional realms, it represents drive and passion. Ka can be associated with security, motivation, desire, intention, and an outgoing spirit.

  • Seiryu: The azure dragon. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Wind) 風 or kaze, meaning "Wind", represents things that grow, expand, and enjoy freedom of movement. Aside from air, smoke, and the like, can in some ways be best represented by the human mind. As we grow physically, we learn and expand mentally as well, in terms of our knowledge, our experiences, and our personalities. represents breathing, and the internal processes associated with respiration. Mentally and emotionally, it represents an "open-minded" attitude and carefree feeling. It can be associated with will, elusiveness, evasiveness, benevolence, compassion, and wisdom.

Underground

The Church of Eight is not all about honoring the spirits, for their true goals hold a deeper meaning, only whispered through those who actually hold a high-rank inside the organization. The church takes advantage of its many followers and position across the continent in order to hold underground diplomacy, to control that which is thought out of their hands. Other than this, in order to make money and “manifest their destiny”, they take part in black-market dealings and other illegal practices.

[col]
The Traditional Branch:
This serves tradition, and takes on the “old ways” (see: The Evolving Curse and the Church of Eight). While still having a similar job to the second branch, the ranks in this branch are hereditary rather than elective. The clan branch honors a certain group of spirits explicitly (Ex: Kaoshogai), differing from the elective branch.|
The Elective Branch:
This branch, in contrast to the traditional branch, is composed of whoever wants to join the group. The ranks are given through election or selection. This branch has a council instead of a leader. Each member of the council is appointed a sector (North, South, East, West), and they are responsible for administering the church in that sector (see: Underground).[/col]
