Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Testing.. Testing.. Is This Thing On?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After having recently broken free of his reclusive studies and managing to meander his way back to the academy Bruinetto was quite surprised that the general staff and overseeing management didn't turn him away from returning. Despite being the youngest instructor on staff there was always this paranoia that lurked inside of him feeling that his potential as a teacher was being underestimated. Perhaps he was merely being insecure more so than being paranoid. All of the other instructors were far more experienced and worldly than him. Having never left the country to go on missions and more often than not he wasn't assigned to missions outside of the village walls. Comparing his track records against theirs would only exemplify the difference in their repertoire even more. Still he was quite young and there was a vast potential that laid dormant within him. That is if he were to ever decide to full explore it as opposed to type casting his talents to solely one area as opposed to diversifying. One day he may come to this conclusion on his own, unless somebody would propose the argument to him and actually spark the idea and the subsequent thinking which would follow.

Bruinetto was not here though in order to sit there and ponder about his potential however. For this semester there were no classes open for him to take over any spots to begin teaching right away. There was a silver lining as they would allow him to hold extra curricular work shops on the grounds. These work shops would be classified as extra training that while would not count towards a students graduation but would act as a spring board to help propel the skills of those who wished to participate. At this point he could only help but wonder how many students were looking to actually participate in something that was considered extra. There were few who showed that extra initiative and desire to learn more than what was being presented to them. With no students currently being in one of the indoor training complexes found on the academy grounds Bruinetto would be preparing for the exercise at hand while wondering how long it would take for anybody to show. Even if nobody showed then at the very least he could take this chance to do some training on his own. Although he would much rather see something some of this as opposed to the work shop fizzling out and not even getting a chance to get started.

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

Setsuko had always valued training and exercise as a mean to become better but also as a mean to relax. When she was at the training field or in one of the indoor complex she felt relaxed and calm and her head emptied all the stress and tension that would usually fill the young girls head. It also allowed her to grasp things at her own pace and try out new things without having a large audience scrutinizing her every move. She had left home early this morning after she had hastily finished her chores. Her life, ever since she had been signed up at the academy had taken a turn which she had not anticipated. Before she was the cute little girl with black hair that would help her mother in the family shop but now she had become the girl that would become a famous shinobi. Or so her mother kept telling her. She had hopes that she would be able to achieve some kind of greatness in her life, hopefully before she was either killed or crippled in some highly classified mission, but those days was far away. She had yet to finish the academy and yet to even begin to learn the skills that was the trademark of the shinobi profession.

Walking through the doors of a nearly empty academy was an altogether different feeling than on the busy days where students and teachers were rushing in and out, trying to do as much as possible before the bell rang, signaling the end of yet another day. She stopped at the main door for a few seconds, her eyes peering into the long empty hallway, staring out into the air as her ears listened for anything, anything other than the silence. Nothing. She walked slowly down the hallway, her arm stretched out as she followed the wall by touch, feeling how the friction of the stone made her fingertips smooth and numb. It was then she heard sounds from one of the rooms. She stopped in her tracks with her arm still touching the wall. ‘Weird, usually there shouldn’t be anyone around at this hour’ she thought to herself as she cocked her head slightly to the side, making a strand of hair loosen from the ponytail and fall over her face, causing her to blow it out of the way as she began walking towards the sound.

Reaching the door that lead into the room where the sounds had originated from she carefully grabbed the handle of the door an swung it open while sticking her head in. “Hello?” her voice echoed slightly of the stone walls as she entered. Upon seeing the man as she entered she stopped, her arms folded behind her back as she stood there watching him moving about with his business. “Umm, hello?” she asked again, unsure if he had heard her the first time.

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

Mouko moved into the Grand Halls of Learning after a rather heavy berating by his mother and father, explaining exactly why he was going to be a shinobi. They had made it very clear to him that he would learn everything he could before passing the genin exam, and become the staple in the family whether he liked it or not. The young boy was less than pleased, so instead of listening to them go on and on about why it was important for him to keep training, he merely left for the academy. He might as well take an extra class or two in order to get away from his parents. On the upside, it would also make his parents extremely happy to know that he was going about everything so maturely. Mouko thought for a moment that he could just tell his parents that he attended the class, and instead go on about the day elsewhere in the village. He certainly needed to do some shopping at some point. Although, his dad had nasty habit of always showing up at the academy to check on his child's learning process, a habit Mouko found to be the utmost annoying. This was especially true whenever the academy student decided to skip out on his learning process.

The halls were vast, and almost entirely empty at the moment, as Mouko moved along them counting off all of the different rooms until he reached the number that he was looking for. He was not even sure what the class was exactly, but that didn't really change anything about his decisions to come and take it. He reached outwards, his arms a little too long for his body, and grabbed hold of the door lightly. In the next few moments, Mouko would be stepping into a classroom on an otherwise day off that he could be enjoying elsewhere. If he were to continue onwards as planned then his chance at a nice peaceful day in his zen garden would be ruined completely.

"Oh well, not like I would do anything but meditate anyways. I might as well move on." Mouko opened the door slowly, putting his right foot inside, and poking his head around to make sure he was not late. Noticing that almost no one, except for a young girl he had seen somewhere before and the teacher, was inside of the room, he figured it'd be okay to move on inside. The young kid looked up at the lot, and gave them the biggest smile he could muster after such a long day with his parents. "Hey there!"

”You know exactly why I made you sign up for the academy.” His mother had a stern expression, an even sterner voice, and a stance with her arms resting on her hips that made it perfectly clear that any further discussion was out of the question. Grumbling to himself, Sazawari dragged his quite unenthusiastic body out of the bed and got dressed. His mood was fouled by the coercion his mother had put him through, and by extension, his entire day was probably fouled. Yet he knew that trying to prolong the situation and stall would only make things worse. And so, he found himself trudging through the slowly waking streets of the underground village.

The academy was strangely empty for this time of the morning. Usually, it would be teeming with youngsters and teachers all getting ready for the daily ordeal. The sound of voices down the halls caught his attention, and he headed in the direction of its origin, wondering who'd he find around. "Oy!" He yelled down the hall way, listening to the echo, wondering if he'd get an answer or if the mysterious unknowns had heard him. "Anybody? He-he-he-heeeeelloooo." He kept calling out, not really expecting an answer this time, but more for the heck of it, finding a childish sense of humour on it based on being way too sleepy to try to be reasonable.

"Seriously? Does nobody have a slice of respect for the marvelous gift of sleep?" He found himself entering a class room, already inhabited by three people. A girl and a boy whose faces were somewhat familiar, probably fellow students of him at the academy, and the third one, appearing of somewhat older age, probably a teacher. He sat down against the wall, resting his arms behind his head, closing his eyes and took to whistling a low tune, wondering what he had gotten himself into. Classes in the early morning hours had never been much of a favourite of his, an understatement of gravity.

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

Off in his own little world at the moment the young man laid would what appeared to be several large scrolls on the ground. These scrolls seemed like your ordinary run of the mill scrolls that you could find being used for storing vast amounts of weaponry here on the academy grounds. While seemingly appearing ordinary what laid within them was a piece of work that Bruinetto had spent an extraordinary amount of time on. What was stored inside them were pieces of equipment whose inspiration laid in a peculiar creation of the Stewards that he had the pleasure of witnessing in action during a lecture he attended about a year ago. The item in question had fascinated him to the point where he had gone straight to the library after the lecture to pick up every book he could find on puppets ranging from their history, influence in the culture of Sunagakure, and the engineering behind them. The first greeting from a girls voice had been lost upon him as the second one would be the one that caught his attention. Turning around he would gaze over towards the first student to appear for this workshop.

“Oh, well it seems our first volunteer has arrived. We will save introductions for awhile longer. Might as well not go through those formalities more than once.” Motioning for her to take a seat on the gymnasium floor he would return back to finish setting up for the work shop. Placing his hands together he would perform a solitary hand seal giving off the necessary conditions to release the sealing technique. From the five scrolls that were laying on the ground a plume of smoke burst from them releasing a short lived smoke screen. As the smoke quickly faded standing there were now five odd looking dummies. Their composition looked exactly like the body structure of a human capable of articulating joints and imitating the movements of a person. Overall they liked a visually appealing aesthetic design but it was their functionality that Bruinetto cared about. Their faces were virtually blank slates minus two lifeless eye holes. With this set-up for the work shop would be complete as now it was only a matter of waiting for more students to arrive.

One after the other two more would enter the gymnasium. The second not being as timid upon entering the room. Judging by the tone of his voice and reaction to seeing the female student who first came in there was some relative sense of familiarity between them. A development like this was not unexpected considering their ages they may have actually been taking classes together. Outside of the room a slight echo could be heard of what sounded like a meandering soul through empty hallways. This curious fellow would peer in on the workshop and was further inclined to get involved with what was going on. The third one gave off a particularly different vibe than the rest of them. He couldn't help but slightly smirk at the energy and the dare he say “jokester” character traits being displayed as a first impression to the student. “Appreciate the sleep you get now. When you start to get older the responsibilities you will inherit will make you long for the days of your youth. Wondering why you even were so eager to grow up in the first place.”

After a brief pause he figured this would be a good time to begin. “Good afternoon students. Welcome to my extra-curricular workshop. The topic at hand is not one that I am going to immediately spell out for you. I want you all to take a critical approach to your thinking and try to understand what I am attempting to impart upon you in this lesson. With that being said I will introduce myself. My name is Jenosaido Bruinetto. You do not have to be so formal to utilize my surname when speaking with me. I find that terribly awkward. To start things off I would like each of you taking turns doing the following. First state your name and follow that up with what you believe to be one of your talents or specialties when it comes to your training here at the academy. While you may not have been training for long surely each of you have found something you feel that you have a knack for.”

Her first thought after having heard what Bruinetto had said was ‘I like this guy. Way better than that other monster’ the comparison between this guy and the monster that was Saemon was like comparing an elephant to an ant, gigantic. Following his motion Setsuko sad down on the floor and crossed her legs, sitting patiently as he talked. While he talked in the background Setsuko studied the dummies while thinking to herself ‘Are we going to learn about puppetry?’ After his brief pause and the explanation of what he wanted them to do first left Setsuko very excited. Being the only girl she took it as her right to be the first one to speak. “Hi, my name is Rin Setsuko. One of my talents or specialties would be close unarmed hand to hand combat. That and being disciplined and a strong loyalty towards the rules set down.” She finished her sentence with a nod to make sure that her point came across more seriously.

Setsuko followed the rules to the letter. If she had been playing a game with some other kids and they had cheated she usually punished them, if in a game that because of the rules another person would ‘die’ she’d let them die in order to complete her mission or objective. Rules were a framework that allowed society to function and prosper. Without rules everything would collapse. She had been brought up on this ideology since birth – ‘Never sway away from the rules! Rules are there for a purpose, you do not bend them, you do not break them and maybe, just maybe, you will one day make them. Until that day comes you follow them!’ had been the message from her mother the day her father hadnt returned home. Setsuko still did not know what had happened to her father but she had never dared to ask her mother. Joining the academy was Setsukos chance at finding out and this Bruin person could maybe help her reach her goal.

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

Mouko looked around at the new member to the group, completely feeling his pain about being up so early. Although, that was certainly a part of becoming a ninja, and that path was a very long one. Every moment that they spent training meant that they would arrive that much closer to that moment. Even so, taking classes on their days off was a completely insane aspect that any young boy would have a problem with. He sighed, letting his heels lean back as the flashy show resolved itself. It had been completely impressive for the boy that had only ever seen ninja from afar, but that was years ago when Mouko joined the academy. On days like today, he had a hard time getting his head around the fact that people would put so much flash into their jutsu, especially when they were supposed to use such shows to distract from their actual intentions. It was times like today that Mouko had the chance to sit at his garden and spend time alone. He gave them a wide smile as the instructor began to talk about them introducing themselves. Setsuko was the diligent one, and would most likely be the student that answered all of the questions first. The other kid looked as if he wanted nothing but to sleep. It was an odd assortment, and Mouko couldn't picture himself being paired up with the two of them in the future, being so different from them. When the question came around to him, he let out a heavy sigh, wishing that his mother and father hadn't forced him to such a place for yet another time. "I'm Motomori Mouko. I'm not all that great at anything, being just a merchants kid and all, but I guess I know how to take a good punch..." the boy's eyes looked away as his words fell off, and he cast them on the ground, not really looking at anything. I've sure had enough practice with that part., he thought as he leaned on the back of his feet.

Mouko enjoyed nature and the living. He was living in the baron wasteland where life was harsh, and the lush greenery that he found so beautiful was almost non-existent. His family owned a few potted plants that his father would bring in from the market whenever the fire countries merchants came through, but they tended to be very expensive for his family. Mouko always made sure to be diligent in his care for those plants, as well as the garden of sand and rock he had built in his families back yard. One of these days he wanted to bring the lush forests to the Wind Country. He wished so much that the sands would stop flowing, and that his family could experience the beauty that world truly had to offer, instead of all of the death that those in Sunagakure were used to.

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

To think for even a moment that Sazawari had a hurry with growing up was insanity. Growing up meant exactly what Bruinetto had said; Responsibility. Hard work. Early mornings and late nights. And then some more responsibility. "Heh... Yea, 'cuz I just can't wait 'till I have get up early in the morning to teach a bunch of kids. But hey, whatever tickles your fancy." Probably not the smartest thing to do, talking back to the one who was going to be responsible for his well being for the next hours. He had never experienced much success with being a smart-ass, but he just couldn't help it. Not only did he have issues with authorities, but work itself. The curse of being lazy.

Listening to the short introductional speech from their teacher, Sazawari couldn't help but to take a liking to the guy. Perhaps he didn't have such a stick somewhere the sun didn't shine after all. *What I'm good at?* Even though he hadn't decrypted his own talents within the art of the shinobi, he definitely knew his own strengths and weaknesses. After all, he was lazy, not stupid. "Well well welly then, Bruin." He decided to not only follow instruction and avoid using the elders last name, but even accomodate himself and use the abbreviated form of the others' name. "I'm Hitoshi Sazawari. I really couldn't say what I'd excell at, but I figure I'm clever, and I'm sure being lazy has its advantages. After all, a wise man once said that the laziest man finds the quickest way to get something done." Despite his lack of proper and full shinobi training yet, he had already found himself a favourite method of combat for when the time came, relying on the philosophy of the lazy man, letting others, or something else, do the dirty work. "'Though, if I had to pinpoint, I'd prefer to fight using poisons and illusions. Letting nature work its due."

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

Listening to all of the students before him carefully he would be sure to pay close attention to what they had mentioned as being their strong points. It seems that all of them had something else which they considered to be one of their strong points. Good, this was quite good actually. This was going to be making this much more interesting. One thing he noticed during all of these initial introductions was specifically various characteristics about Hitoshi Sazawari. This laid back sort of demeanor and a focus on laziness he often attributed to somebody who wasn't being appropriately challenged in their studies. When things become too easy it become easy to ignore the issues at hand. It was either that, or this student wasn't the type who excelled in the standard learning environment. Teaching him may prove to be a tad more difficult than the both Setsuko and Mouko. These were the kind of things that went through his mind when getting to know his students. Taking a single approach to every student wasn't going to maximize the effectiveness of your own each nor was it going to assure every student got the most out of it. One often had to adapt to the situation and cater to a students needs and personalities.

“So now that we have gone through the formal introductions, let's get to the fun part.” He said with a gleeful snicker as he slowly walked over towards the tools he set-up earlier on right before the class began. “Today, you are going to be doing a sparring exercise. Your opponents will be these sparring partners that I have devised. I don't have a name for them yet, I am often terrible at giving my inventions names. Right now, they are lifeless but with relative ease I can bring life to them!” While originally inspired by the Stewards pet which was a mechanical creation with it's own animalistic mind he wasn't quite able to emulate that on a permanent scale. He did however manage to create something else unique as a result. Pressing his hands together into a hand seal before a doll he seemingly prepared three of them in separate ways. “Setsuko-chan, you will face the one to the left of me. Mouko-kun you will be against the one behind me, and Sazawari-kun by default you should realize your opponent is to the right of me.”

Pressing his hands together again the other training dolls would disappear back into their scrolls for now considering they wouldn't be used. “Now, whenever you are ready you can begin confronting your specific target. I will give you a small warning however. I have limited the power of my current design to be equivalent to that of a newly graduated genin. They will be stronger than you, however that doesn't mean you cannot overcome the opposition that stands before you. Give it your best, and you will learn something out of this.” After that brief speech Bruinetto would hop backwards through the air and up into the rafters so he could get a birds eye view of the exercise.

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

Each of the three students had received a partner which would be of a higher level than themselves. Setsukos eyes went from Bruinetto over to the doll she would be fighting. With a slight tilt to her head she stood up and walked over towards it, her muscles tensing up and her pupils dilating as she looked over it, anticipating it to burst into action as she got closer. For each step she became more prepared to react. Her mind began to empty itself of anything that wouldn’t be of use to her in the oncoming spar. Mouko, Sazawari and Bruinnetto simply faded into the background of her mind as she began to focus on what would be happening. If that thing made a move, she would be there to cut it off. It might be stronger and faster than her, but it didn’t have a brain that worked like hers, hell it didn’t have a brain that could even begin to resemble a human’s… she hoped. Standing in front of it, like a good old fashion duel she would ball both her hands into fists and then give a quick glance at the others that stood to her side. ‘Well boys, one step closer to becoming a genin’ she thought to herself before returning her gaze to the doll in front of her. “Let’s see what you are made of” she said in a low voice, primarily intended for her own ears, but she didn’t care if it had been picked up by any of the others.

With a slight bend to the right knee she pushed off towards the doll. She had learned a lot from Saemon, despite getting her behind kicked by him. ‘Never rush in until you know how to take them down’ she thought to herself as she cut of her dash and darted to the side, trying to trigger the doll to do something other than just standing there like a pillar of salt. Having changer her direction she aimed for the side of the doll, think that if a frontal move didn’t do the trick, a sideways one might do and this time she decided to herself that if it didn’t show any signs of moving she would hit it with a kick towards the upper thigh. A strong hit to the upper thigh would in most cases numb and temporarily paralyze the leg and in sense make the doll not very able to fight for a few minutes… given that it responded to pain and injury like humans would. If that wasn’t the case, Setsuko knew that this encounter would take a turn from being interesting to being annoying and that she would in, if not getting her ass kicked… again, short time lose or hopefully of course win!

Mouko squared his shoulders, barely listening to the instructors commands about the dolls, other then the fact that they were going to fight them. He had been dying to fight something ever since the groups training session with the Jounin level Saemon. As he rotated his neck, the pops quite loud after just waking up, Mouko let an almost evil smile spread across his face. Ferocity erupted behind his eyes as he charged forward, bound and determined to test his might against this creation of yet another strong opponent. He was almost thirsting for the battle before his right foot connected with the ground, ready to kick off into a straight sprint from the doll. Setsuko had gone before them of course, her movements being careful and calculated, her strike aiming for a viable target on the dummy. Mouko did not want to do something so simple to understand, his instructor would be expecting the unexpected. Although, what if Mouko did exactly what he was not supposed to do. These dummies wouldn't have the speed or reaction times that Saemon did during their combat training course. Mouko could probably move out of the way in time to avoid being thrown around like a rag doll. So, Mouko sprinted towards the dummy, making sure to hold back some of his speed in order to make a quick dodge should the construct start moving to counter him. His plan was fairly simple, he would give the training dummy the old one-two, or at least look as if he was doing so, before feinting to the left and delivering a full powered roundhouse to where a normal person's left knee would be. He was not afraid of being hit a few times, that was something he would have to live with the rest of his life, but he did not know Bruinetto's creations very well, and until he did, he would not be fighting them without some sort of escape plan. "Take this you piece of bolts! I'm going to be a Shinobi!"

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

Sazawari distanced his focus from the rest of the group and aimed it for the doll to the right, pondering about how to address issue at hand. *Genin level, eh? Compared to -that- monster, this should be a dance on roses...* His thoughts drifted slightly, reminiscing about his previous class with the behemoth of a man who had tossed them about like rag dolls. A movement caught the corner of his eye and his mind snapped back to reality and the moment, noticing his fellow students having already begun their assault on their respective dummies. *Oh well, might as well get to it.* With a sigh, he reached into a pocket on the inside of his coat, pulling out a 30 cm long piece of bamboo before he walked backwards about ten steps, distancing himself from the animated mechanism before him.

As he stepped backwards, he changed the hand which he held the pipe to his left, letting his right brush by his hip to feel the hilt of the ninjatou which was sheathed and strapped to his belt, concelead by the leathery longcoat he wore. This would be his first time to try both weapons in combat, and he had to admit that he felt a certain exhilaration at the thought. He had never imagined that the sensation before combat would be this exciting, and he discovered himself visiting thoughts that told him that becoming a shinobi might not be so bad after all.

He plugged one end of the pipe with a short, pointy object adorned with three red feathers and put the bamboo pipe to his mouth. With a muffled "thmpf" the dart flew out, propelled by the power of Sazawaris lungs, and towards the dummy. He hadn't had much time to master the weapon yet, so he didn't expect his aim to be perfect. 'Though, he anticipated that as long as he kept the far end of the blowgun aimed towards the torso of his adversary, his shot would be true. As soon as the first projectile was fired, he reloaded a second dart, preparing for the reactions of his target. With one hand, he held the pipe to his mouth and with his second he prepared to unsheath the ninjatou that hung by his hip. *Primary objective; Read the enemy. Secondary; Prepare for a counter attack. Third; Prepare a counter attack of your own.* he knew his combat theory. Or, well, he had picked up a thing or two at least. After the lesson with Saemon, he had skimmed through the books and scrolls regarding the subject. He didn't intend to do the same mistake twice. He was, after all, lazy, not stupid.

Setsuko vs Battle Doll #1

“Obviously, I'm made of wood Setsuko-chan.” A sarcastic reply emerged despite no presence of an actual mouth on the doll. Setsuko made but one mistake in her thinking about the battle doll that she was facing. While the creation didn't have an actual brain it did have a consciousness. The doll was limited in it's overall scope of power yes but it's mind was a “bunshin-like consciousness.” When one created a clone it was capable of thinking for itself and generally was modeled after the mind of the creator. Otherwise clones would not be too useful in battle if you had to spout out commands to it.

Seemingly brazenly Setsuko would rush towards the battle doll assumingly to assess the battle prowess of what she was fighting against. Clearing the distance between the two of them the doll seemed to watch casually as she approached. Her movements weren't very subtle and were easily visible at this point of her training. After planting her foot her range of attack had been and a leg went flying aimed towards the dolls upper thigh. Stepping backwards outside of the kicks range the doll would slink down closer to the ground and slide closer towards her. Doing a sweeping kick the doll would attempt to kick her other leg out from underneath of her and letting gravity take it's course after that. “You start off on what you don't consider your strong point as a measure of analyzing the opponent? Kind of careless don't you think?”

-----

Mouku vs Battle Doll #2

From the start of this battle it seemed that this doll would act much differently than the one that Setsuko was facing off against. While it had let the girl clear the distance and come into close quarters while Mouku was making his advancements towards the doll it quickly sprung into action. Kicking off from the ground it would hop backwards gaining a some momentum as it would start to run backwards. Try as Mouku might he would barely be able to get into a range which would allow him to get a clear and direct hit against this nimble doll. Making strange motions with it's hand a mechanism could be heard opening as the palm of doll would open up. Released out of these openings were small orbs which now rested in it's hands. The doll was now armed with a “weapon” of some kind but did not seem like the conventional weaponry so what could they be?

The doll could only run so far attempting to stay out of Mouku's reach before it would kick off from the ground and land up against the wall taking a perched position on it. Now having the high ground the doll would seemingly have the advantage against the boy. Cocking back it's arms it would swing it's arms forward releasing a volley of projectiles that resembled orbs flying towards it's opponent. These projectiles were a variation of one of Bruinetto's signature weapon. However instead of exploding with a concussive force on contact they would release a spray of a paint-like mixture which symbolized it's hit zone to note what would have been hit by it had it been the real thing. “Nuts and bolts? You might break my heart with such witty insults.”

Sazawari vs Battle Doll #3

Seems that from the start Sazawari would also take actions which would resemble how they first answered their questions on their strengths. Preparing from a distance an attack would emerge in the form of a ranged attack from a blow dart gun. Not even giving the chance for being an easy target from such a long distance by standing still the doll would start running off to it's right to evade the range of the narrow dart allowing it to fly right passed it with minimal effort. While the doll said something immediately it was carefully watching every little action performed by the student. Noting what every bit of it's body language forecast for the future of the match.

The doll would go on the offensive now as it would be the first one to reveal another quality of these battle dolls. Partially closing the distance between itself and Sazawari it's hands raised and started to perform what appeared to be hand seals. Swiftly the doll would come to a stop as it thrust it's arm forward. Small opening would appear on it's forearm drawing in air and storing it within momentarily. A secondary click was heard as it's palm opened up revealing a circular hole. “Katon – Enten Ago [Fire Release – Thermal Maw]."</COLOR><COLOR color="#000080"> Would be the words uttered after a small burst of flames burst forth from the dolls arm. Small was a rather subjective word here as compared to the size of the student this fireball was about half the size of him.

Re: Testing...Testing..Is This Thing On? [Open]

She didn’t have a lot of time to think as the doll stepped backwards away from her kick and used its moment to try and sweep her off her feet. Her eyes narrowed as she quickly though on her next action. Having missed her kick and being in a position that left her at a disadvantage Setsuko had to do something which would at least leave her standing instead of lying on the floor. Using the momentum of her kick, she continued through the kicking motion using that as a weight to through the rest of her body into the air and thus avoiding the sweeping technique used by the doll why simply lifting her grounded leg and letting it come around with her own motion. It was an acrobatic move but with her lithe frame it wasn’t very difficult to pull off. Landing on the foot she had used to throw the kick with she quickly spun around and placed the other a shoulder width away from the other one while looking at the doll which would be on its feet after its failed sweep kick.

‘Careless.’ The word rang like a bell in her mind. She had not been careless at all! She had merely underestimated the doll’s capabilities which she swore to herself that she would never do again! “You move well, despite being made out of kindlewood” she retorted. It was shallow, she knew but it was the first thing that came to her mind as she tried to analyze the doll further.

The doll seemed to move very freely, despite being a doll. It did not seem to be hindered by joints or anything else one would consider doll-like features. ‘So how do I beat you? Put you on fire would be one solution but I don’t have any fire.’ A small smile flickered across her lips as she thought that before it went back to a more focused gaze. ‘Oh well, a kick didn’t work so well, maybe if I try to go slower into melee range and try to punch it instead?’ her mind worked while her body followed and by the time she had finished her train of thought her body was already in movement towards the doll. Her hands not to her side but to her front, palms facing the doll in a way that would allow her to but attack, reflect and avert any oncoming punches or kicks. Her stance was also different in the way that she had herself crouched down with both legs where one was in front of the other almost in a line, but not so narrow that she would lose balance. “Come at me then… Kindle-kun” she said in a mocking voice, her lips separating to show her tongue sticking mockingly out at it as she winked at it, hoping that it would indeed come at her.

[OOC: As a note, I will suspend posting order so we can post more freely. Since each of you are doing your own fighting task when I get a chance to respond I will respond to you all individually. If I cannot respond before all three of you post then I will make one large post as I did earlier. We'll see how this works out!]

The sidestep came as no surprise to Sazawari. After all, there was only one way to avoid being hit by a projectile propelled forward, and that was to move out of its way. He had yet to unsheath the metal blade by his side, preferring to keep as much as possible a secret untill absolutely necessary. Of course, revealing his ranged form of attack had been an evil necessity in order to gauge the adversary he was facing. And so far, he had to admit that he was pretty satisfied with the result. The reaction time of the doll was impeccable, or at least as impeccable as it could be considering it was limited to the level of a newly graduated genin. However, what followed after was not something he had anticipated.

He had imagined that the usage of weapons and other tools would be deployed against him, but the utilization of ninjutsu came as a bit of a surprise upon him. *Geh... Now this?* He had indeed gotten the opportunity to gauge his enemy, at least when it came to ranged combat. With the view between them obscured by the flames, he shot towards where he had last seen the doll, hoping that the narrow shape and the small frame of the dart would let it pass through unscathed. Combined with the movement of the flames, it would most likely only be subject to its heat for a split moment.

The closing of the distance, which had happened moments earlier, had made him aware of an incoming attack, and every tensed and flexed muscle in his legs and back sprung to life. Hoping to catch the opponent off guard, he leapt. Not backwards, not upwards, not sideways, but forward, straight towards the ball of fire gushing towards him. A leer spread across the thin lips of the young boy; The leather coat which he wore served more than one purpose. Letting go of the blowpipe, he grabbed the flap of his coat instead, covering his face and head, hoping that the robust leather would protect him from the major damage the fire would inflict upon him.

The trick worked, for the most. He felt a stinging sensation and felt the smell of singed hair and cloth, but sensed that victory might be close. Releasing the coat to regain vision of the field, he drew the ninjatou and swung it in a single motion, aiming low for the legs to force the enemy to leap, hoping that the combination of the dart obscured by the flames and the hopefully unexpected move through the flames might let him land a hit. If things went his way, he would feel the slightly numbing sensation through his hand that signalized steel biting into wood.

Mouko watched as the strange creation moved around, always just a little faster than Mouko himself. The young student constantly shifted his feet ready for the creature to run into a wall. He made sure to move the sparring partner into the direction of a corner, only thinking on a single plane. That was until it had jumped upwards, leaving Mouko in a situation that he had not prepared for. Fighting someone from a lower position was easy enough, until that opponent began firing projectiles at you in rapid succession. This fight was nothing like his previous fights, and he knew that this kind of situation would prove to be his downfall. The boy only had a moment to think about what he should do, but he did not have time to make sure whether or not his teammates were around him at the time. He was sure that Setsuko was somewhere on the other side of the room, yet he had not being keeping close tabs throughout the fight. If he was wrong, and dodged the pellets, he could get someone hurt. Mouko had trusted his teammates before, and for this exercise, he would most likely have to so the same once more. As the ninja charged forward, he swept his legs out from under himself, bending his waste sideways so that his upper body would have the extra time to fall to the ground from moving away from the orbs but also allow him to land in a crescent shape. The gym floor made it fairly easy for him to slide underneath the bullets raining from above. After he was completely on the ground, knowing that he should continue his movements immediately, Mouko would have no choice but to continue moving as he got to his feet.

His hands slid across the ground palms down. His legs lifted into the air at the same time that he lifted himself upwards. Using the odd shape that his body had landed in, the boy twisted his body while performing the odd headstand, sending him off to his left in a weird cartwheel flip. The movement was simple enough for anyone with enough momentum, but the landing would most likely leave him open to a countr attack for a second before he could once again take off across the gym. That was why he was landing with his feet firmly planted on the ground, and his arms blocking attacks to his face. A few shots to his toned body probably would not kill him. He only hoped his teammates were not bein put into the line of fire with his actions.

Before Mouko's body had a chance to land, he took the time while spinning to assess his new situation. If he were to charge up the wall towards the practice dummy, he would most likely be pelted with numerous shots. He ninja had not yet made time to go shopping due to his other duties, which still left him reaching for a way to reach the creature. There really was a single easy way to the confrontation, but he was not sure whether or not it would be allowed by the proctor. There had never been any real rules set for the exercise. There is really just no winning during these types of fights. Next chance I get I will invest in a whole notebook of explosive notes. Mouko's voice raised enough so that he could be heard by the entire gym by his shout.

"Proctor, I believe that I may need some assistance or advice from this situation. I see no safe way to attack my opponent, nor do I have any range weaponry of my own."

Setsuko vs vs Battle Doll #1

Setsuko had managed to evade the attack in a rather elegant yet intricate way. Sure she avoided the sweeping moment but this would be where the doll would react swinging it's free arm up through the air. It was motioning as if it would be throwing something, but there was nothing being thrown. From there a few simple words were muttered. “While you are airborne, that is when you are the most vulnerable. If I could go against my “programming” and had a more well rounded fighting style. You were open to attack and would have been unable to dodge projectiles. Be weary of such flashy movements for dodging.” The battle doll wasn't being condescending, but attempting to make her aware that her movements needed to be fluid and take as less time as possible. The more time you were open for the attack the more time an opponent had a chance to take advantage of that.

Pulling itself back up from the ground the girl was ready to go for another round of close quarters combat. Proceeding in a rather cautionary method she was going to let the doll take the lead this time around. Finding this amusing the doll would dart forward heading for a collision course against Setsuko. With it's right arm it would pull back forecasting a wild and powerful hay maker punch. The attack was aimed for the left side of Setsuko specifically the joint where the shoulder reaches the neck. All the while the left arm was prepared for attack awaiting her reaction. Would she dodge and move into an easier striking range with his left hand? Or would she attempt to swat away the wild and powerful punch? Regardless of that action it would only change the trajectory of the second attack that followed. With a rising motion it's fist would lift up as if going for an upper cut which depending on her position at that moment would either aim closer to the kidneys or dead center in her stomach. Shifting it's weight onto one leg and looking to propel itself forward is a second attack did not connect and was also avoided it would prompt itself into a back-flip swinging it's leg up wildly for a powerful rising kick.

Sazawari vs Battle Doll #3

Shortly after the release of the fireball because of the sound of the crackling flames the doll would be unable to hear the subtle sound of a projectile being released from the blow dart gun. The dart flying through the flames would catch ablaze not altering its course but in fact coating it in flame and increasing its overall damage potential. A rather clever maneuver by Sazawari as the battle doll would admit to itself. The general brightness of the flame made it slightly harder to see and the doll would put most of its attention on the projectiles. Quickly the battle doll would dart towards the side barely being able to react fast enough to the oncoming projectile watching it fly past it's face. The heat from the flame was enough to put a small burn markings on it's face. A small and minor burn that would be nothing more than an annoyance but some credit could be given for damage inflicted.

Turning it's head back it's attack what happened next was quite surprising and not anticipated in the slightest by the battle doll. During that moment when its attention had been drawn away Sazawari had brazenly took the brunt of the attack and went for an all out attack. Caught off guard by this nature there was very little time to react so there was only one attempting the doll could make at avoiding this attack in such a small amount of time. “Fuuton – Senpuu Jiten [Wind Release – Whirlwind Spin]” The activation of this technique was reflexive and nearly instant as raging winds picked up immediately while the battle doll began to spiral around in a tight circle. The flowing winds started to alter the trajectory of the attack as it came within range of the winds causing the attack to fall short of hitting it deep landing a partial hit against its frame.

As the winds continued to rage the doll would speak, “Twice you partially hit me. Your quick thinking managed to land both of those hits. However, despite the second partial hit your recklessness in taking the brunt of that attack to score little damage wasn't the greatest move. When you go all in, be sure your opponent doesn't have better cards they have yet to reveal.” Pressing it's hands together into a series of hand seals it would stand there motionlessly as the winds surrounding it came to a halt. A plume of smoke appeared momentarily disrupting Sazawari's view of the doll. Shortly after the smoke disappeared there were now three visions of the clone standing before him. “Well smart guy, how do you fair when the odds against you start multiplying?”

Bruinetto

The whole while Bruinetto was watching everything from the rafters he was interested in seeing what these students were capable of. It seemed that Setsuko-chan was being extra meticulous in being sure to analyze her opponent. She was yet to bring out more of her arsenal in an attempt to use her strengths against the doll instead of looking to just gauge it with other tactics that were not her state strong suit. He wasn't sure why she didn't open up with her strong point and if that wasn't working then adapt to the situation and take a different approach. Sazawari however was starting to impress with the methods he was utilizing to catch the battle doll off guard. “If Sazawari keeps this up, he's going to put a heavy strain on my chakra. Maintaining these dolls and allowing them to utilize my jutsu isn't the easiest of tasks. Nor have I made the long range transfer of chakra perfect.” It seems one of the students however has seemingly, hit a wall.

Turning his head towards Mouko it seems that he was not prepared to face against an opponent who was a long ranged fighter and wouldn't make it easy on him to get into close range so he could utilize what he considered his strong point. “I won't spell anything out for you Mouko-kun. There will be many times you won't be prepared for an opponents abilities. They will surprise you and you will have to adapt to the situation. You will have to learn to improvise and if you can, use an opponents methods against them. Utilize your methods of chakra control learned in the academy to realize that battles are not two dimensional coupled with physical training. Use your surroundings and what is available to your advantage to create an opportunity if your opponent won't make one for you.”
