Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

Posting first with permission of Kaen and Hoshi, as IRL stuff will keep me occupied for the next few days

Through the fire and ash, the intrepid hero charged. Donned in wooden armor that would not only protect him from attacks, but strike back at those who were foolish enough to join him in the melee. He saw as the clones attacked his allies, urging him into action. Lifting his arm, needles of wood grew from his arm and shot across the battlefield, striking at the real Kaen and his pesky clone. Somehow the clone managed to avoid his wooden strike, but the real Kaen was met with a vicious sting of needles, powerful enough to draw blood. Tatsuo smirked as it was his first real hit on the zealot. Not wanting to waste his momentum, he withdrew a thin pair of razor wires from a pouch on his hip. With a flick of the wrist he sent them towards Kaen, in a clever attempt to reinforce his own incoming bind with strong but nearly invisible ninja wire. But just as he shot out the wire, he felt the heat of battle rise against him. Literally.

Walls of flame surrounded him as he was now separated from Hoshi and Hira, all alone in the inferno with Kaen. From his arm, he sprouted a large wooden dragon which sought out Kaen. However the shinobi was too quick for him, he expertly dodged both the ninja wire and the incoming wooden dragon. Tatsuo grunted and his heart sank but from in between the flames he caught a glimpse of Hira stuck in bind. Bringing his hands together to make a snake seal, wooden tendrils rose from the earth and went straight towards Kaen. He sent them in another direction though, past the pyro and straight towards his ally. Blunt, perhaps, but it was enough to get him out of that suffocating bind. He'd need to apologize for that latter, as it'd seem one of the wooden tendrils hit it's mark a bit too well. But he had other things to focus on now. He was alone in the inferno with Kaen and he wasn't about to go down, no matter what. "It's just you and me now!" Tatuso said as he rushed at Kaen without a shred of doubt, if he had to die to protect his friends he'd give up his life for less. He couldn't think of any better way to go out. "Let me show you how Leaf ninja do things!"

While weaving seals Hoshi bled from open wounds, wincing and gasping at the additional pain from his clothes and very skin set afire. It caused him to kneel in his stance while performing hand seals.

Hoshi was in the middle of weaving seals when Kaen’s clones took actions. First struck was Hira, with shadowy tendrils. The same time Hoshi was struck, or s it appeared. A poof of smoke revealed that the tendrils struck only a near by rock, which Hoshi switched positions with. He continued his succession of seals with one hand before biting his thumb. Hoshi then slammed his right palm into the ground with force.

“Contract Summoning: Azure!”

A summoning crypt in the form of a late circle highlighted itself in bright colors. Another large flume of smoke would reveal a twenty foot Shinobi otter donned with light blue armor. The Shinobi stood stoic, his spear resolve, blue as the expansion above, was already equipped and ready to go. He swung the spear for a moment causing a gust of wind.

Azure: “Young Hoshi, you do not look so well. Take refuge behind my spear. I will be your defense!”

Hoshi: “Azure! We engage in battle once more. Tch! This is a tough one… he is not to be taken lightly!”

Azure: “We are more than capable… Let us make it alive out of another. Hoshi!”

Hoshi: “Azure!”

The two turned to face the fiend but realized, there was now a blazing ring of Fire of blistering hot flames! Trapped inside was Tatsuo, so it appeared visually, but Hira, the unknown cloud Shinobi was still, as if petrified from fear. Azure and Hoshi looked at each other and dashed toward the flame only to redirect themselves away. Just getting within range of the ring felt like diving gave first into the sun. Hoshi looked over to Azure.

Hoshi: “I'm going on!”

His Byakugan still had sight of two chakra networks, though they were fuzzy as if looking through smoky telescopes. Hoshi sent two palms and kick to Tatsuo, unintended. Passing in and out through the barrier of flames had burned the young Shinobi, but he had missed Tatsuo entirely, thankfully.

Hoshi was back with a frozen Hira and his summon the warrior of resolve, Azure. Azure looked at the injured Hoshi with heavy concern. Hoshi looked to him in return wirh determination.

Azure: “Young Hoshi, it is too soon for us to part. I doubt you not, this… is your time to give me your trust.”

Hoshi: “A-azure… There is nothing we can do while the ring of fire is in full effect. We must trust in Tat-”

Azure and Hoshi looked toward Hirateuchi who was struck by wooden tendrils. That could only have been from Tatsuo, quick thinking because soon after it seemed Hira had clasped back onto consciousness. Hoshi and Azure smirked, the leaf Shinobi was not only skilled but had the wits of an elder. Hoshi was still sweating heavily, gasping for breath, his stamina was fleeting, though his energy was still fresh. Maybe he has found his match today, and death wouldn't be so bad. The kid hung his head for a moment. He was beginning to strategize.

That too was ended abruptly by Kaen summoning an even larger slug companion. Hoshi gritted his teeth at the sight, this was now becoming a dangerous fight. Kaen has clones, and a summon. The odds were still against the younger Shinobi, and Hoshi being the leader had to guide them to victory, or a loss with no casualties. He wondered for a second about the inner village dealing with the other criminals who had fled and sent flares.

The water Shinobi casted a healing water, Hoshi remembered what he said and did not move. The feel of the lukewarm water was revitalizing, quenching the flames on his body and even sealing some of his open wounds. He was right, he could heal with his waters!

“Gratitude my comrade. I appreciate your support. Let us form together and thwart this evil. Tatsuo!”

He beckoned his friend who was trapped inside the vortex of flames. That was when Hira was bombarded by the shadowy tendrils Hoshi had avoided earlier. He cringed at the sight of his fellow Shinobi being hurt, be he would falter not in front of his foe.
 
Calling back the chakra that commanded Suna's Wrath, Kaen quickly opted to a more reserved style of battle. These three were stronger than they had appeared at first, but then again, there is power in numbers. Their combined battle strength could potentially rival his own, but sadly for them they were but individual souls. The torrential downpour still ensued, sizzling away upon contact with Kaen's aura. One would think it would dampen his abilities, but the young Ancient's power was just to overwhelming. While his clones maintained their assault towards the trio, Kaen set upon a path to divide and conquer. That boy that had started all this watery mess was to blame for this continued fight, and would continue to do so. He would need to be dealt with soon lest he keep these other two alive longer than their intended expiration date. A few hand signs later and the matter would be dealt with for the timing being. Kaen locked onto that delicious odor, the aroma of a young soul and snatched it within his mind's eye. Kaen squeezed and pulled on the young boy's soul, ebbing away at his energy. That should do the trick, for now...

Just as quickly as Kaen thwarted their raining savior, Kaen belched out a plume of flames that surrounded himself and that wooden boy wonder. The heat was blistering and easily split the boy's cheek open just with the sheer heat. The blood poured out with ease, glistening in the dancing flames. "Indeed it is just you and I, my little bundle of kindling, allow me to introduce..." Kaen began his introduction before flying through a plethora of handsigns before slamming his hands to the ground. A moment later there would a rather excessive plume of smoke that would fill the area. As the dust settled, Tatsuo would see the slimy visage of a massive slug. "A friend of mine..." The slug's eyes would be blank, save for a tiny flickering flame within. Something wasn't quite right with it, it almost seemed possessed. "What is your bidding, my master?" The slug was ready to serve, but for what purpose? Kaen glared at the boy from aside the slug, steam venting off his body still from the rain. "Had you only heeded my warnings, you three might have actually made it home to your loved ones this night!" The battle was still young, but the scales were heavily one sided. The boys would need to think hard and fast for a way out, lest they truly parish to the might of the Sunan Ancient...

The battle was very quickly diminishing the odds of the trio of young shinobi. Once the one leading the charge was knocked down, Hira began to lose his confidence in his abilities. Seeing just how fast and powerful this sand shinobi was... he didn't even seem human anymore. His skin began to shift and boil, as though the flames themselves were keen to take hold of a new physical form this day... the form of a human. His eyes glowed red and his demonic presence made itself known as...

Hira couldn't take in any more details as his world turned to darkness. It was there in an instant; rather it seemed as though it was always there, merely covered up by a thin veil of light. Perhaps this was it. Had he failed in his mission because he had not taken his training seriously? Had he...

Soon he was blasted back into reality as the heat instantly made its threat once again known on his body, only made bearable by the rain still dripping from the sky. He looked around in a panic, wondering what had happened to him, managing only to see a wooden tendril nearby, then Hoshi standing near once again, only this time with a companion. Something was off though... as confident as he seemed in his abilities it was clear that he was in dire straights. He would not be able to hold up much longer, and in a hurry Hira summoned some water before splashing it on his comrade, cooling his burns and helping to ease his pain, but it was clearly nowhere near enough.

He could only listen as the battle raged on elsewhere, presumably involving the wood-style user from earlier. This time he would get things right. Hira focused his chakra, ready for the next opportunity to turn the tides of this massacre.

    Shinobi 101 - Slashing with Ninjutsu Accuracy

    The user may now use a Major Affinity Move and a Minor Affinity move upon a single Jutsu (Up to B Rank) Both affinity moves must be different, and the user must have a Major Affinity in the Element. (Fire, Non-Elemental, Scorch, Anbu)
    The user's Critical hits will always increase bleeding rank, even if the attack does not normally inflict bleeding. This does not apply to non-offensive techniques aimed at allies that can crit.
    When attacking a target at their maxed Bleeding Rank, the user has a base chance of 10% to deal 1.5% Max Hp damage immediately. This chance may be increased with the user's Bleed bonuses up to a 20% chance, but may only effect a target up to three times per round.
    When either of the above effects trigger, the target will take an additional +.5% Max Hp damage per round from bleeding on top of their current Bleeding damage. This does not stack.
    Cursed Seal: Gen DC to High; 4 Points - Start each round automatically in Stealth; but cannot re-enter stealth during a round or be mistaken for a clone; 2 Points - +1 Acc
    Once every other round, the user may perform a Sneak Attack without being dropped out of stealth.
    The user is given a resistance check every round against Genjutsu as opposed to the normal round wait time.
    The user is always aware that they are in a Genjutsu unless the Genjutsu was treated as a Sneak Attack.
    Calm Mind
    Duelist: +2 Accuracy/DC and +10% damage towards a single target. User must choose target at beginning of battle. Should the target be KO, or no longer in the battle, the user may choose another target. Targeting any other opponent (excluding clones) from the initial target will nullify this ability for the remainder of the battle. +10% chance to auto-dodge the targets attacks. -2 Dodge/Save to any other opponents targeting the user.
    Due to the difficulty of controlling their chakra, all ninjutsu and genjutsu cost 5% more. However, all fire based jutsu have a +2 critical range and hit for 2.5x normal damage on critical hits instead of 2.0x normal damage.
    All fire based jutsu have a 20% chance to Set their targets afire, dealing 10% of the Jutsu's damage each round for two rounds. Fire based jutsu already having the chance to set targets afire are increased by 10%, and all AoE Flame techniques are increased by 8x8 feet.
    Fire based jutsu deal 30% more damage, but 15% of the total damage is done to the user.
    The user gains +10% Damage Reduction
    All Bleeding / Called Shot Penalty chances are reduced by -10%. Bleeding/Called Shot penalties are treated as one rank lower. (Lowest this can go down to is Bleeding Rank 1/Sprained)
    The user cannot be knocked out by Bleeding or Poisons. (This does not include Poison Jutsu)
    If an attack would cause the user to be Ko'd, their Hp remains at 1 Hp and they cannot be Ko'd for the remainder of the round. This may happen once per battle.
    If an attack would bring the user to -100% Max Hp, Damage stops at 1 Hp away from -100%. This may happen once per battle.[/spoilername]

Hoshi clenched his teeth and clicked them as well. With a grunt, the stone beneath him give way to his might as another gate burst open. He then gasped and then blinked, there was now two Hirateuchi before him. But he was not fooled, he knew the real one. This sand Shinobi was proving to be too difficult and too dangerous to handle. Hoshi ran towards Kaen, one hand performing seals at a high rate. His slug was healing him, or some sort with a seedling. He nodded at the foe.

Midway during his dash Hoshi’s body would become fluttered with coursing lightning in a bright and vibrant neon blue.
Once within range, he would feint a basic strike and dash to the right to Kaen’s flank where he would slam his palm into the ground. Just like grounding any electrical current, Hoshi funneled all the energy into the ground, on a way one route to Kaen where it would burst from beneath in his feet in multiple streams.

“Raiton: Stream!”

But his foe was more than agile dodging every stream which would flood the sky and disperse into thin air. Hoshi cringed once again, created distance and then dispelled his doujutsu while falling to a one knee resting. Even so, he maintained the three gates he had opened while observing Tatsuo making a move. He was preparing a rasengan, Hoshi watched with wide eyes at his wood manipulation. But he gasped seeing who he was targeting.

“Tatsuo no! That is not him!!!”

He tried to move but was cut short from the sudden rush of pain, he bled a bit and coughed a spew of crimson fluid. His right hand rubbed it away as he thought to himself, ‘Have I reached my limit? I-I can't ju-’

Again, his thoughts ended abruptly due to the sight before him. Another jutsu with no seals, the fiend seemed to harness the might of flames from sheer willpower. The multiple dragons struck in unison, Tatsuo managing to dodge the first. In succession another set seemed to have caught the Shinobi off guard and struck true. Hoshi’s energy was returning to him, his wounds sealing shut and his stamina refilling itself.

Meanwhile, Azure took this time to react, he sent a flurry of shell shuriken barreling toward Kaen who expertly evaded the barrage. Azure cringed as well and grunted sliding to a stop after his dash.

Azure: “Hoshi-Kun… You need to purge the flames of this arson with quenching might of waters.”

Hoshi turned his head, still kneeling to face Azure. He nodded, already understanding what he meant by this.

Hoshi: “If time will allow us to do so, yes Azure. We will show him our trump card. But for now, let's separate him and the slug.”

Azure: “Haha! Good plan young Shinobi!”

Azure prepared another set of shuriken, to shells in each hand between his fingers. He held his hands crossed above his face, hiding a confident smirk beneath them. Hoshi felt the splash of healing waters, it soothed him instantly as right after he was placed into the same wooden case which gave him life earlier before. Hoshi fell into a slight unconsciousness and allowed himself to rest completely. The battle was still commencing as Azure sent another flurry that missed right before Hira’s Waterfall. Hoshi’s eyes opened wide, full of chakra and bulging veins. He would burst out the case of life as once before, half way revitalized but full of energy.

Hoshi: “Okay!”

He looked over to Hira. The same time Kaen manipulated the shadow of his summon to come to life and form in the physical.

“Hey! The Name is Hoshi Shouyu by the way! Your waters are most indeed helpful. Tatsuo! Stand back! You too!”

He pointed at Hira and hoped he would listen.

“He is targeting you guys now! If anyone is to go down here… it will be me. And if that happens… I want you to run. Azure and I… we will be here to subdue him. Now, stay on your toes team!”

Azure: “Haha! Well said Hoshi! You've solidified your resolve! Let's go!”

Hoshi took stance in the famed jyuuken style. His Hachimon aura burning it's pale blue, he was highly focused on Kaen still playing the charade of his comrade. Hoshi then smirked having a good idea in mind. He'd whisper to himself after he deep inhale and exhale.

“For Kumogakure…”
 

Nothing is fair in this world. You might as well get that straight right now, winning by any means necessary. Kaen's smile widened as he released the previous jutsus he had maintained on the battle field. With a fiendish look in his eyes, he kicked up a bit of dirt and slid on up next to the water wielding boy. "Hope you don't mind if I borrow this..." With a slight tap to the boy's forehead, Kaens body began to undergo a quick and, for the most part painless, transformation. Upon the dust settling, there would be two Hirateuchis standing side by side. Was it fair, no of course not. But when did Kaen ever give the impression this would ever be a fair fight? They alone stood between him and the salvation of Wind Country, they refused to let him pass and therefore will suffer the penalty. The internal monologue was disturbing to say the least. All sorts of ill mannered thoughts had been passing left, right, up, down, backwards and infinity plus 1 ... threw his mind that is.

Within...

Ooooh... such pathetic wastes of life. Do make sure to end this quickly and devour their insufferable souls, we grow tired of this place, do we not?

Yes, we do. And yet... they are intriguing. I see the potential of their strength, I shall play with them a while longer...

Don't be stupid, they are nothing! A pathetic excuse for a Hyuuga, his dojutsu is sub par and can barely see two inches past his nose. And the wood style user, disgusting. Such an inferior quality. You would do well to put him out of his misery. Besides, didn't your mother ever teach you to not play with your food?

They have spirit, I have to give them that. Even the frail looking water bender seems to be useful. So strange to see these humans all working together. And no, she encouraged it actually...

HA HA HA HA HA, yes of course she did. They are of no concern to your might anyways. Just look at them, you can just SMELL the fear radiating off of them, it's so...delicious

"Hey you!" Kaen disguised his voice to that of Hirateuchi, directing his cry towards Tatsuo. "Don't move, I'm gonna help you..." Help him indeed, that insufferable wooden twerp. Kaen had enough of his little wooden boxes and aimed to put an end to him. With a "friendly" smile on his face, locking eyes with his unsuspecting prey, Kaen charged up his energy and created two living elements of fire within each of his palms. But it was too late, It seemed that Tatsuo might have already fallen for his bait and trap. "SURPRISE!!!" The previously disguised voice reverted to his original as he let loose a plethora of flames shaped into the visage of mighty dragons. While the first one was off a bit, the rest struck hard and true. Kaen watched with glee as his pets attempted to devour the little boy. But this happiness was not meant to last, as somehow out of sheer luck or surprising resolve, the boy... survived?! "Tch... What the hell?!" Kaen muttered under his breath. From what he gathered, the boy couldn't have been all that strong. And yet... he lives still.

"Very well, it seems you intolerable little shits are a bit tougher than I first anticipated. I apologize for underestimating your skills... But it ends here. Come here beast, it is time!" With his final word he reached his hand outwards towards his contract beast, the slug, and with sheer might and will he pulled forth the very shadow of the slug and made it tangible and somewhat alive. You three should consider yourself lucky, you will bear witness to the first ever revealing of my secret technique... the power of the Sage!" Kaen had not actually tested this technique before, but heard of it in passing tales and rumors. He had acquired the incredible powers and loyalty of the slugs that resided within Lightning country and would seek to use that power for himself.
 
Tatsuo hadn't expect, just how powerful the blows from Kaen could be. He wasn't aware which was Hira until it was too late. He had missed his Rasengan, and Kaen met his mistake with an unforgiving rampage of fire. Tatsuo's armor did him no good, they couldn't grow fast enough to block any of the inferno. Tatsuo could feel his skin begin to blister and he felt hot. The smoke filled his lungs and he wondered if this was how he would die. Dragon fire after dragon fire bombarded the intrepid hero until he felt, just perhaps, he would give in. But something stirred in him, the will to fight, the will to live! The initial blowback was powerful enough to send him to his back, and despite every nerve in his body stinging in pain, he rose to his feet and through labored breaths, he said to Hira, "Sorry buddy, didn't realize that one was you.." Slowly he managed to get a few handseals out to heal Hoshi as if they were going to have any chance of killing this demon, they'd need him. However the real Hira provided him with the greatest gift he could ask for. His striking waters wrapped around Tatsuo, sealing his wounds and lowering his internal body temperature. Another one of those and he would be out, but he had enough now to continue fighting and he wasn't going down that easy.

As the wood tendrils surrounded Hoshi in healing energies Tatsuo brought his hands together with a loud clap. Followed by a raging roar, he used his chakra to make himself lighter. Until he would move, it'd be impossible to tell, but now his movements were more fluid and graceful, as if he just gained speed instantly. He regrouped with Hira and spoke to him, "It's getting bad, you should go.. I can hold him long enough for you to run. Someone has to live this day." he said, keeping his eyes on Kaen for his next move. As much as Tatsuo wanted to win this fight, he realized it's folly. This man nearly killed Kaji and no matter how much stronger Tatsuo got during that short year, he was nowhere near the level of his sensei and this zealot. He couldn't live with himself if Hira or Hoshi died this day, so he felt like it was his life to sacrafice. "GO, RUN NOW!" He shouted at Hira as he rushed at Kaen with the strength of a raging fire.

Action's Sent
 
Before Hira knew it, the sand shinobi was right beside him, his terrifying aura seeping through the air as though trying to invade Hira's very soul. After some time, and a puff of smoke later, Kaen was nowhere to be found, but instead, there stood a mirror image of himself. Hira attempted to move his hands as though looking into a mirror but soon learned what the true purpose of this disguise was when Kaen called out to Tatsuo, goading him into believing that he was their true ally. Hira opened his mouth to call out to Tatsuo, but before he could make a move, the wood-style ninja had already leaped into the air, ready to strike at the real Hira with his full might. To some degree, Hira was outraged with his comrade for not being able to tell the difference, but soon that outrage turned to shock, and then fear as he got shot out of the air with a hail of flames hotter than they had been exposed to previously.

It was all Hira could do to calm himself just long enough to heal his team once more, but with how slow the process was showing to be it might all be for not. With a determined yell, Hira decided that he was not going to be content simply standing in the back until everyone else had fallen, and attempted to shoot a blast of water straight at the demonic enemy. Unfortunately, the difference in power was once again made obvious by his ability to dodge it almost as though without thought. Hira grimaced as he took a leap back, waiting to see what horrors might await them next.

"I am not going to run, and I will not hold back! We win and lose together!" He screamed out confidently, while inside he feared the worst.

    The user's Critical hits will always increase bleeding rank, even if the attack does not normally inflict bleeding. This does not apply to non-offensive techniques aimed at allies that can crit.
    When attacking a target at their maxed Bleeding Rank, the user has a base chance of 10% to deal 1.5% Max Hp damage immediately. This chance may be increased with the user's Bleed bonuses up to a 20% chance, but may only effect a target up to three times per round.
    When either of the above effects trigger, the target will take an additional +.5% Max Hp damage per round from bleeding on top of their current Bleeding damage. This does not stack.

    Due to the difficulty of controlling their chakra, all ninjutsu and genjutsu cost 5% more. However, all fire based jutsu have a +2 critical range and hit for 2.5x normal damage on critical hits instead of 2.0x normal damage.

Hirauichi is KO'd

 

Kaen was no fool, he knew who the top contender was, the leader, the muscle. While not outright capable of defeating Kaen himself, a devilish plan came into fruition in his fiery tactical mind. What better way to break a mighty warrior's soul than cause him disparity by being the sole hand that squeezed the life from his own men. Or at least that was the plan when Kaen did what he did. To the onlooking perspective viewers, Hirateuchi and Tatsuo, it would look like a slip of the hand or a failed jutsu. Perhaps they didn't even notice at all and were too caught up in the chaos that was the end of their night quickly coming to fruition. But to Hoshi, his eyes would see it all in totality. With a slight whip of his hand, a blazing blast of energy would engulf everything the young Hyuuga's eyes could see. Everything would turn from his normal clever and cunning vision to a bright, overwhelming light that would seer his eyes blind. It was obvious, this boy's talent. Speed and agility would indeed be a problem for something as wild and reckless as Kaen's own might. That's the trick with genjutsu, really, you almost never see it coming. Your body is simply incapable of moving out of the way, no amount of speed would save you from what you cant see or perceive.

It seemed clear that they were on the ropes, a certain 6th sense or even just the realization in their eyes that gave it away. They were scared because the knew the truth, the truth that would set them free from their childhood fantasies of becoming the "very best" like surely nobody else was before. If only to help them see the light that wasn't actually light at all but a devastating orb of hate and anguish. The truth... You are NOT the best, you are in fact just another pawn in this great wide world we call home. Nobody exists on purpose, you are not destined for Kage-ship. Nobody belongs anywhere, joining the Anbu wont make you an elitist or worth more. Everybody is going to die and you CANNOT save them all, least of all with petty water tricks. Existence is pain so you should just give up on your dreams and aspirations and succumb to a will higher than your own, Kaen's will. And his will is that you crumble and die before him, leaving no trace of your insufferable lives and simply; Get... Out... Of... His... WAY!

And then it happened... After casually smacking away an assualtive Tatsuo, he calmly approached the shadowy essence that was his slug's essence. The closer he got, the darker the sky grew, clouds unnaturally spawning and taking form above swirling and heaving their weight around. A crash of thunder and lightning ignited the dark sky to illuminate a crazed smile on Kaen's face. Whatever was going to happen was not going to be good and would signal the end for these sorry souls. A concussive wave exploded outwards sending everyone save himself outwards and away. Nearby landscape structures would be obliterated in the cataclysmic event that was Kaen's transformation. The clouds above were blown away in an instant to reveal a empty starry sky above. The ground quaked and shook as the sheer force and might of such a combination threatened to destroy them all from just it's incredible aura. From behind the roar of energy, somehow they were still able to hear his voice. How was this possible... And then the thought would occur to them, perhaps. He was within their mind! We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything. Rocks, boulders, trees and dust was continually being cast into the air being pulled in by the incredible force of aura that was exuding from Kaen at an alarming rate. With a heavy thud, Kaen's gauntlets crashed to the ground below. Without so much as a flinch or budge, Hirateuchi's wave of energy crashed into the side of the barrier of energy that separated a shadowy visage of Kaen and the outside world. With a loud cackle, Kaen called forth the weapon of devastating, his gift from his God herself. The very wrath of Mother Suna herself...

Your luck has run out, I think we shall start with you... GET OVER HERE! And with a fling of his chained kunai, Kaen called forth its might. Like a speeding bullet, the kunai breached the aura that surrounded Kaen and struck Tatsuo straight through his gut. A spurt of blood exploded outwards signalling a precise and vital strike. With a slight of his hand, he called forth his wicked instrument of death, Tatsuo and all... The rest of the onlookers would only see Tatsuo disappear into the void of energy that surrounded Kaen. But inside... Kaen grabbed hold of the blade itself and with a fury filled plethora of slashes, strikes, stabbings and blood curdling screams that surely Tatsuo would emit, Kaen would end him for good... A moment later he would cast out the limp and nearly lifeless body of Tatsuo. A heavy thud and then only silence. He was not long for this world now... Kaen would fade away from view, sinking within his own aura to let his transformation complete and enjoy the view as Hoshi helped slay Kaen's enemies for him. A final satsifying blow later and the little water bender, Hirateuchi, was finished himself. Though he was blind, his ears would work just fine. Kaen's aura would begin to dissipate as his form took a stable shape. "Countless millions who have walked this earth before us have gone through this process. This is just an experience you humans all share. Despise not your end, young Hyuuga, but welcome it with open arms. For nature wills it like all else and I AM that call of nature. I am Kaen, Lord of the Flame Court. The very nature of destruction, and as nature wills it, so too do I will your decimation... Kaen was seething now, his excitement was getting the best of him it seemed. While his fire was formidable, he was not truly like the old Ancients. He was no lord, but he was the closest thing to it within the realm of fire. His own actual linage paled in comparison to a TRUE lord, such as Mother Suna herself.

Several large thuds hit the ground, kicking up dust. Hoshi had removed the weights around his wrists and ankles. His body already feeling light as a feather. Tatsuo dashed in before Hoshi could, meanwhile Hoshi was weaving one handed seals again. And suddenly, his eyes went blind, he couldn't see a thing. He was forced to use other senses.

He clicked his teeth but couldn't back down. Onward he leapt, his right hand bursting in a lively sphere of lightning that cackled like popcorn. Hoshi launched his head, the element dispersing into an almost infinite amount senbon that struck true on his target. The sound of the targets response rattle the Shinobi. Had he struck his team mate or was he hallucinating?

The battle continued with Tatsuo raging at Kaen, Hoshi almost blindly listening in place. Azure managed strike with his jutsu targeting the slug, its fluid of lifestream spilling into the morning air. It was still the dead of the night.

The healing waters found its way to drench Hoshi once more, which lead him to believe he did not strike his team mate with a wild blind shot. It was at the moment his ears twitched, the sound of an oncoming attack which he successfully flickered away from. He followed the sound with a palm tucked at his underarm and launched a menacing palm uppercut to the slug. Just the feel of the slime had let Hoshi know he was accurate even without his eyes at this time.

Sounds were growing louder, the clashing of blades, the piercing of flesh, the smell of blood, the feel of Water's evaporating mist. The sound of a comrade down worried him, but he was still blind. Azure managed another flurry but missed entirely, clicking his teeth. He knew Hoshi was blind, as the fiend attempted disappear Azure clicked his teeth like any otter would, finding his location and informing Hoshi who nodded.

A familiar sounded pierced thin air and Hoshi managed to dodge another stream of acidic demise. Although, it sounded like another comrade did not. He could not help it, though he wasn't scared, he was shamed to have fallen short at such a critical moment. His eyes began to swell with tears as he grunted and shook his head. The tears would fall and refill his eyes again. He prepared himself for the worst.
 
Tatsuo's emotions got to the best of him, while staring his own mortality in the face the only thing he could think of was Kaen. This man right here was going to kill him, Hoshi, Hira, and who knows who else if he didn't stop him right now. Much like Hoshi dropped his own weights granting him increased vigor to battle, Tatsuo dropped his own mental weights. Any fear he had of dying was erased, any regrets he had about his life had burned away in the mighty infernos Kaen had shot forth. He had one goal in mind, to stop Kaen with all he had. If it wasn't enough at least he would not regret his death and no one could deny his Will of Fire grew brighter than any of Kaen's flames.

Ignoring his injuries from the inferno he rushed towards Kaen with the intent to kill, if he were to have any chance of stopping Kaen he would need to. Any morality about slaying another human being was put on the back burner. If he managed to kill Kaen in these coming blows he would find his repentance somewhere else, but even Tatsuo's Will of Fire was not enough. Ducking low to try and sweep Kaen off his feet was expertly dodged by the zealot and before he knew it the giant slug shadow had shot it's acid straight at the boy. The wood from Tatsuo's armor had begun to move even more frantically as the boy's will to fight grew, as the acid neared him the wood itself grew out of Tatsuo sending the acid flying into the mountain side. Even after his last failed attack his spirit had been renewed, if he was able to dodge such an attack perhaps he could even win. But before he knew it, a cold and lifeless pain pierced through his stomach. Without any time to react from the shock of being impaled, he was pulled back into whatever void Kaen had created.

What came next was something Tatsuo could never perfectly describe, a flurry of slashes and cuts which left him utterly destroyed. And just like a beast who had finished it's meal, Tatsuo was cast aside to die in the very earths he meant to protect. In his last remaining moments of consciousness Tatsuo's short life flashed before his eyes. He was reminded of the horrors of war, the loss of a loved one, and now the pain of defeat but even past the burning of his skin, or the tearing of his limbs, he remembered the sweetness of his mother, the happiness of camaraderie, and the pride of impressing his sensei. All he could do now was believe in Hoshi, whether he woke up tomorrow mattered not to him. If he died, it was protecting those he would die a hundred times to protect, and if he lived, this would only be a kindling in his one day great Will of Fire.

    Due to the difficulty of controlling their chakra, all ninjutsu and genjutsu cost 5% more. However, all fire based jutsu have a +2 critical range and hit for 2.5x normal damage on critical hits instead of 2.0x normal damage.
    All fire based jutsu have a 20% chance to Set their targets afire, dealing 10% of the Jutsu's damage each round for two rounds. Fire based jutsu already having the chance to set targets afire are increased by 10%, and all AoE Flame techniques are increased by 8x8 feet.

The sight returned to him finally, but what he saw… his comrades down… unconscious, even appearing dead. His teeth gritted, it was only he and Azure standing. Azure’s vigor was untouched but that was soon to change, yet his valiant resiliency inspired the youth. The flame in his spirit continued to blaze.

“My… my comrades… by my own hands? This…”

Azure: “Young Hoshi-Kun, its fine. You were blinded by a crafty genjutsu. I wa-”

He was stifled by the static shock of electricity. It seemed he was struck by Hoshi’s lightning jutsu. He cringed at the sight, again he was fooled by the man who seemingly split into five others. Fused with the slug, Hoshi stood against multiple enemies wide eyed.

Azure: “Do not fret Shinobi. This is the life we have chosen. If destiny has foreseen our sun to set on this day, remember… it was a warrior’s death. With honor…”

Hoshi looked over to Azure, who was intensely staring down the mass before the two and the other fallen comrades. He gripped the rubble handle on his spear until it squeaked against his furry palm. Hoshi’s jitters finally stopped has he rediscovered his resolved. He had seen the face of death many times, but there was something about this fiend’s charismatic tenacity, that shook the very core of the young ninja.

“Honor in defending my country… I don't think my family would have expected my ending to come so soon. But… for them… and…”

Hoshi staggered, taking a stutter step forward to catch himself.

Azure: “Remain resolute Shinobi! The enemy is coming!”

A burst of energy in the wave of wind exerted itself from Hoshi, going past his limit and unlocked a fourth gate. Almost instantly Hoshi withdrew a smoke bomb and disappeared when it exploded and filled the air. The Kaen’s responded with a volley of fireballs, the lot of them missing but one of them able to successfully locate the Shinobi. With so many fireballs, it was only a matter of time for one to strike.

Hoshi was bombarded by fire, though he was able to flicker past a few strikes, on of the last ones hit him hard in the chest. Hoshi lost his wind, gasping for breath. Azure had to dodge his own amount of fireballs and saw the devastation of Hoshi.

Azure: “Hoshi!!!”

The otter cringed and lowered in stance, tossing yet again, another flurry of strikes toward the healing slug which some would hit their mark. The same time a revitalized Hoshi came back rushing into the fray, dashing straight toward the multiple enemies directly.

“Azure! This is my last moment! For my friends! For my village!”

Hoshi appeared out of the dissipating black smoke in a flash. His aura shifted, from the color pale to a deep blue. Within range Hoshi would leap, his hands glowing with not chakra but the physical form of his will and resolve, his very life spirit. He eyed the masses and proposed to rain down his virtues of prudence and righteousness. In his last moments, he would seek to give his all complete all.

Once enough energy had manifested in his fists, one punch after the other at high speeds caused the energy to launch in trailblazing spheres. Hoshi grunted and growled with each strike, the sight was luminescent, illuminating the dark night. The slug was pounded by sheer force of unwavering spirit. One of the Kaen’s had managed to get caught up in the assault as well. As Hoshi descended he was struck by the acidic slime of the slug and cringed with a yelp.

He couldn't falter, he outstretched his hands, the bandages reaching out for Kaen, and ensnaring him once more. He yanked at whatever fiend he had a hold of. Hoshi cupped both hands, still glowing vibrant golden energy of his might! Once the hands combined so did the range of his aura. The golden energy expanded and formed a large golden orb, cackling with power.

“THIS IS MY NINJA ART! REMEMBER ME YOU FIEND!!! HACHIMON: ASAKAFUJAKU!”

The orb launched itself, shredding a pathway to the enemies. He had struck true, but not hard enough to decapitate a single enemy. The golden wave evaporated soon to reveal some fatigued foes. Right after the wave there was no relent to Hoshi, as his hand now flowed with blue and black chakra, forming to large roaring lion heads as he spun acrobatically and struck Kaen in the chest with two separate straight jabs.

“Still… not enough…”

The enemy assault began… all wielding a sickle and chain. They struck all at once, a flurry of slashing blades. Hoshi’s reaction time proved notable but against one thousand cuts he too would fall short and bloody to his knees. His shirt, his pants, torn, torso revealed and bloody, his eyes deactivated, body cringing. Finally the boy fell flat to his face. Azure was down to one knee hurt from dueling the slug. He crawled over to Hoshi was beyond his limit. He reached for his headset, and mumbled a name… ‘Ka… ji…”

Hoshi reached out to the sky, coughing blood, his body weak and life fleeting. He was barely conscious, from the strength of his own will. He crawled, to specific place, he did so to fight for his life. Azure knew what he was doing, he knew he was fighting.

Azure: “You you will never accept the fate of death… will you, young Shinobi? Yes… fight… my boy…”

Azure was hurt too, staggering to keep himself up. He felt his presence in this realm coming to an end.

It was done... Kaen stood victorious above all others, as if they even stood a chance. They were brave but foolish to even attempt to stop him in the beginning and they paid the ultimate price for doing so. A single lone draft of wind would pick up and cause Kaen's crimson hair to flutter in the wind. It was the winds of change and they signified the day that these three boy's lives would be forever changed as they witnessed first hand the realities of this world. It would stand as a reminder that there will always be somebody stronger out there, somebody always willing to go one step further than they and cement the memory of Kaen and his Mother Suna, forever.

As he stood amongst a pile of believably deceased bodies, or so he thought or wished, Kaen would hover over Hoshi. He alone survived the longest despite the overwhelming odds. He was still conscious, if only barely, and would listen to Kaen's parting words. Though it mattered little given that the three of them would soon bleed out and expire, Kaen still felt the need to press his feelings into their minds. "As I said... You had spirit, kid. But your strength was lacking. It was a shame you did not face me later in your life, you would have lived a little longer. You simply were not strong enough, NONE of you were of able body. It is rather disappointing now that I mention it. How DARE you get in my way without the proper power to back your stakes. You are all an embarrassment to your kind, you foolish, weak, feeble humans are all the same! You disgust me so, so much so that I don't even wish to consume your pathetic souls." Kaen while at first only intended to flaunt his victory, quickly remembered how easily they fell In combat. To him it was the thrill of the fight and falling so quickly was deemed disrespectful. For whatever reason that they should live, they would do well to not challenge his might unless they are indeed worthy of his attentions and capable of more than a mere minute of his time and effort. Riddled with frustrations he gave Hoshi one last look of disdain and shook his head. I tire of this place, I feel I might never return. Consider the denizens of this realm fortunate that you have bored me so..."

And with that, Kaen turned and left this grizzly scene of blood, fire and destruction. Destruction, hence, like creation, is one of Nature's mandates and it was plain and obvious which path Kaen was set upon. And yet... There is something to take away from this that is not so sadistic and bleak. For if these three survive, they will be better for it. For the strongest steel must persist and pass through the strongest fire. The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire and Kaen had just set their spirits ablaze. These three would be forever changed having witnessed first hand the horrors of a true shinobi life and will be better prepared for any future endeavors. Someday, just maybe, they will aspire to something greater than themselves and bring a change to the world as we know it...
