Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The shrill of childish laughter echoed off of the walls of the alley way, paired with a gleeful bark. </SIZE> The slap of bare feet seemed to resonate along, followed by angry shouts from older men. Phrases from 'Get back here, you rat' to 'Stop, thief!' contaminated the morning atmosphere of one of the shopping districts in Sietch Zensunna.

"Can't catch me!" shouted the young red-headed girl as she darted around a corner, leading the men further into the shopping district. She adjusted her arms around her catch of the day, a magnificent pile that primarily consisted of food, with some clothing, and the occasional random item. Beside her, Xei made the sharp turn and let out another bark, his tongue lulling from inside his mouth. The pack wrapped around his neck and torso contained the same assortment of articles. A pair of pants flapped behind him, falling out of the bundle. He didn't mind, and neither did she. All that matters is that they got away, and had fun doing it!

They headed towards home, back in the heart of the Grand Palais. All that they needed to do was lose the angry men behind them and they'd be good for sail. But the trick was losing them, of course. Ahead of them, Tenrousei eyed another sharp turn and clicked her tongue against the top of her mouth. Xei got the signal and they both angled a hard right. She slipped a bit, but managed to regain her footing and continued on.

However, the next turn they took brought them straight onto a main pathway. Tenrousei swore, pausing momentarily to look around. They'd managed to get some distance on the men. Thankfully, none of them seemed to have an aptitude for Chakra manipulation, otherwise they'd have been caught already. Xei's bark brought her back to attention and she nodded.

"Right, let's go this way," she said, headed to cut across and into one of the alleys across the road. The shouting could still be heard in the distance, but it was fading. They'd be free of them soon enough. She laughed and grinned, wildly, turning around another corner and into a wall. Everything she held went flying up and into the air in all directions. She let out an 'umf' and fell back onto her backside, her palms scraping against the hard packed earth. Xei, skidded to a stop before making the turn.

What had felt like a wall wasn't a wall, but was in fact a very large man. An angry, very angry, large man. His hands were on his hips as he stared down at Tenrousei with a judging glare. "What do we have here?" he said, sharply. "The little thief. I knew you'd head back this way. Figured you were a street rat from the Palais. You're filthy enough. Someone should beat some intelligence into you, you little rat." He leaned forward to reach for Tenrousei, but met a flurry of white fangs snapping wildly at his fingers. He jumped back from Xei, who stood in front of Tenrousei, snarling.

Tenrousei let out a barking laugh as she rose to her feet and quickly gathered up a couple of the things she'd been carrying before and made a run for it. Xei quickly followed behind after a swift snap at the man's crotch, causing the massive pork ball to jump back and lose his footing. Xei was gone before the man's face slapped to the ground.

The pair ran on, nearing the glass walls of the Grand Palais. They slowed, continuing at a fast walk. Tenrousei looked over her catch, frowning. "Crap, I forgot the sweets! Oh, well..." She sighed and once more, found herself running into a wall. As she fell, losing the catch again, she swore. She growled, reached for her kunai, and looked up at the man. But, it wasn't the man. It was a small boy, just under her height with black hair, and a shy face. Equipped with a crow of black and white on his shoulder.

"Wh-... What? Wha--"

Xei erupted in what sounded like a canine version of a snicker from behind her.

Wandering around the outer rim of the glass walls of the Grand Palais, Surutameni absent-mindedly kicked at a small rock that was in front of him. He wasn't really paying much attention to the rest of the world around him save for, Unmei who was perched upon his shoulder. The black and white bird cawed softly from time to time, usually to let him know if there was someone in front of the pair and to make sure that they didn't run into said persons.

He continued his meandering for what seemed like forever, no one around, just the way he preferred it. As they approached the exit to Sietch Zensunna, the boy swore he heard a muffled shout of "thief" but before he could ponder it's origin a small red haired girl came out from what seemed like no where, and crashed into him. Unmei squawked and cawed angrily having been shaken from his perch. His wings buffeted wind around Surutameni's head, tossing his hair into his face.

"Wh-... What? Wha--"

He heard confused stammering and a canine laugh as he proceeded to clear the hair away from his amber eyes. Realizing it was the girl he had been leaving feathers for, for all these years, his cheeks flushed a bright red and he quickly attempted to turn around and walk off.

"S-Sorry...." The boy muttered a stuttering and embarrassed apology, "I didn't see you there...."

As Surutameni proceeded to head back into the Grand Palais, Unmei, lept from his shoulder and landed on the ground to hop towards the girl and her canine curiously. As he approached the bird cocked his head to the side and flapped his wings, pecking at her toes.

Tenrousei flinched at the first peck at her toes and drew her leg back. </SIZE>She shot it back out at the bird, an annoyed look on her face. She glared at Unmei before getting to her feet and gathering up her once again spilled catch. "You're a mean bird," she said, picking up the final item and bringing it into the pile in her arms. The prick at her toe still hurt, which caused her to place her weight more on to her heel than the front of her foot. She glared after Surutameni and sighed, spotting Xei making his way after the shy boy.

"Hey, wait up," she called, stepping around the bird with a daring look at it, as if to challenge it to poke at her toes again. It didn't take her too long to travel the short distance between Xei and Surutameni. "I'm sorry, it was my fault."

She glanced ahead, taking a note of the glass barricade that surrounded the Palaias. Good, they were close. If she need to make a break for it, it wouldn't take too long to get home. "I'm the one that wasn't looking," she continued, breaking her gaze away from the area ahead, turning her head so she could better look at Surutameni. She took note of the smaller child, and finding his amber eyes strange. She furrowed her brow, quizzically. She'd never seen anyone with such pretty, but sad eyes before. She blinked her red eyes, then grinned.

"Hey, I said I'm sorry. What, did your crow bite off your tongue?"

Unmei squawked in defiance at the comment that was made towards him. He hopped a few paces then took to the air with half a mind to poop upon her head. But even the bird thought against that idea, knowing he wouldn't be able to land upon his companion's shoulders any time soon if he did. As Tenrousei called after him, Surutameni slowed his pace to a more leisurely walk, instead of continuing his hasty retreat, allowing the girl and her dog, as well as Unmei, to catch up.

He kept his gaze glued to the ground, trying to be less apparent than he was, but he could still see the girl eyeing him over as they walked back into the Grand Palais walls. He wondered if she was just using him to hide from whoever was chasing her, seeing as she had a good handful of things and a pack on Xei. He didn't really want to be her scapegoat since he knew that at his height he wouldn't stand too much of a chance against the fatter Sietch Zensunna merchants.

"Hey, I said I'm sorry. What, did your crow bite off your tongue?"

Caught off-guard by the sudden question, Surutameni's gaze snapped to Tenrousei's face. He took it all in, for once being able to get a good look at her. For being a child of the slums she seemed relatively happy, and her red eyes had a piercing note to them, which caused him to look away almost as swiftly as he had turned around when she had crashed into him.

"No...." His thoughts tumbled over one another making it quite hard for the boy to form a coherent sentence after only one word, "Unmei wouldn't do that." The last bit he managed to spit out in a hurried rush, hating the thought of making an idiot of himself as he already had. As he spoke the crow landed on his shoulder farthest from the girl, and hissed angrily at her, basically saying, "Back off!" Surutameni waved his hand absently in the bird's general direction, trying to get him to quite being such a nuisance.

"I'm sorry that he's being such a bother." He looked at the girl again, curiosity beating out his bashfulness, "So... Why were you in a rush?" He hoped it wasn't stolen materials, but who knew, better he ask than to assume.

She didn't believe that the vile bird wouldn't do it, given the chance to some people. </SIZE>She narrowed her eyes at the bird that hissed at her, before looking back at Surutameni's face.

"I'm sorry that he's such a bother," he said to her, "So... why were you in a rush?"

Tenrousei let out a nervous laugh before looking over her shoulder, back in the direction they had come from. She glanced at Xei, who looked at her, they shared a nod, and the dog turned and headed back. With Xei to scout, she felt more at ease and visibly relaxed, her shoulders falling back and the hard look in her eyes fading.

She ignored his question about why she was in a rush, dismissing the curiosity-- at least for the time being. There was a time and place for that kind of thing and the side of a major street that lead to the gates of two different districts was not the place. She forced a smile and shrugged, nodded towards the glass gates.

"You're from the Palais, aren't you." It wasn't a question. It was a statement, an observation she had made based on the look of the boy and the familiar scent coming off of him. She wrinkled her nose with a grin. "I'm from there, too. Which area do you live in?"

Nodding in response to her statement about being from the slum, Surutameni picked up his brisk pace as they continued back within the walls of the Grand Palais. He was still curious about what had Tenrousei running, but he respected her redirection and ignored his previous interest.

"Well... I'm pretty sure you can guess what part I'm from." He had a feeling the fiery girl could figure it out with no problems. "Besides, I think I have seen you around before." He smirked and laughed lightly as he gazed about their surroundings. It wasn't really anything new to him, but seeing as Tenrousei seemed to be nervous, he was rather unsure of things that could be around the next corner. Mainly, shopkeepers and the like but one could never be too sure apparently.

Unmei, unhappy with the situation still, flicked his wings and squawked angrily in the direction of the red haired girl before he once again took to the air, also keeping his eyes peeled for any suspicious activity besides her. He cawed to the two below him as he caught the movement of a rather, overweight, man running in their direction. He was waving his hands furiously at his fellow shopkeepers. The bird dove back towards his companion, his body and wings twisting and darted between the children as his speed carried him ahead.

"Looks like we have some company headed our way..." Surutameni grabbed Tenrousei's hand and tugged her forward, breaking into a run to keep up with the airborne avian ahead of them.

Xei came barreling back to them at the very moment that Surutameni had taken Tenrousei's hand and started off in a run. </SIZE>He erupted in a flurry of warning barks, charging to catch up with them. His eyes locked up on Unmei, whom he snarled at and flicked his tail in the direction of the fat man. He darted away from the pair and made his way to cut off the man and his growing force of angry shopkeepers. With Xei, and hopefully Unmei, making up a distraction, the two youngsters would be able to gain a foot hold on the distance between the adults.

Tenrousei tightened her hand around Surutameni's and frowned. "Come on," she said, sharply. They weren't going fast enough and she let out a sound of frustration, tightening her hold on her bundle of stolen goods and tugging Surutameni's hand and nodded away from the main gate. "We can't go that way. They won't let us in, especially if we don't get further away from them. Come on, there's a short cut this way and I know the guard on duty. He'll let us through, no questions asked."

She released his hand and sprinted off down a path leading right from the opening of the Palais. She shot a look at Surutameni over her shoulder, making sure that the boy was following before she picked up her pace, bare feet slapping hard against the packed earth. She turned her gaze back ahead of her, but not before sweeping a look over her other shoulder, back to where Xei was busy snapping and snarling at several adults, the fat man included. One of them thrust a broom at the canine, but he was swift enough to avoid getting hit. It didn't break his relentless assault of barks and snarls at them.

At the speed she was running, it didn't take her long to skid to a halt at the lesser populated gate. She shot a look at a man standing to one side, clearly the guard on duty. He looked at her with a brow raised, and she glared back. He sighed, and waved her on. However, she hesitated a moment to make sure that Surutameni had kept with her.

As Unmei flew forward he heard the growl from the canine behind him. Understanding clearly what the pooch meant he wheeled about and flapped his wings hard to followed Xei. He flew close to the canine, cawing as they approached the fat man and his fellow disgruntled shopkeepers.

Surutameni squirmed as Tenrousei gripped his hand harder, the joints shifting to a rather uncomfortable angle. He thought his hand was going to be broken by the end of this rather, insane run. "Come on, there's a short cut this way and I know the guard on duty. He'll let us through, no questions asked." He didn't think that any guard would let them through with a bundle in her hands and the pack of angry people behind them, but he kept on running, even if it was just to make sure his hand didn't fall off.

Finally, Tenrousei reliquished her deathly grip upon his hand as she dashed ahead. The boy paused for a brief moment, wringing his hand, and wiggling his fingers to make sure it still worked before taking off full tilt after her. His amber eyes locked on her intently, she kept moving faster and faster, he stepped up his pace once more to keep up. Surutameni's sandals barely made any noise as the duo made a mad dash for the gate ahead.

The loud snapping noise of a dog's jaws shutting together and the rapid wing beats and angry cawing of Unmei drew his attention behind them. As he looked he saw feathers flying and even a shopkeeper wielding a broom at the two animals. It didn't seem to cause much of a problem. On of the people threatened the bird with a bag but, Unmei was having none of it. He flew at the man's face and berated the man with a flurry of claws and beak. Surutameni knew they would be fine, but he still worried that one of the two animals would be hurt. There wasn't much time for thought as he turned his gaze back to Tenrousei, who he almost crashed into as she skidded to a sudden and abrupt halt at the gate.

He eyed the guard suspiciously as he gestured to let them pass. Panting, he nodded briefly at the man, and continued forward. His legs and lungs ached, but he knew they had to keep moving forward to get away from the mob behind them. Surutameni once again leveled himself to stand next to Tenrousei, he looked to her and broke out laughing. He nearly collapsed as his foot didn't move the way he wanted it too and the front of his shoe caught a stone that happened to be sticking up a little too far. He stumbled forward and luckily was able to catch himself before he ate dirt.

"Well... That was.... Interesting?"

Tenrousei lead the two of them passed the gate and down an alley when Surutameni stumbled and started laughing. </SIZE>She looked at him with a quizzical expression, and then joined him. Her giggling laughter made it hard to respond to him, so she opt to just nod her head. She pressed her unoccupied arm to her sides, holding her ribs as she struggled to breath. This boy was amusing, to say the least, and quick enough to keep up with her. That won him some points in her book.

Finally regaining her breath, Tenrousei looked out of the alley and listened. She could her the squawk of the crow and Xei's barking off in the distance, and it sounded like they had lead the shopkeepers astray and off of their trail. Good. She visibly relaxed, her shoulders losing the tension that they had been building. She let out a devious grin and looked at Surutameni.

"It was," she said, finally responding audibly. "But, we're not out of trouble quite yet. I need to get home with this stuff before word gets around. It spreads like fire over paper." She turned and headed towards the opposite exit of the alley. She peered out from between the two buildings, and found it to be safe. She turned, waved at Surutameni with her free hand, and pointed to another alley just up the road. Without waiting, she slipped out onto the street and headed for the pointed location.

From there, Tenrousei would head in a winding direction through the Grand Palais, and if Surutameni had, indeed, followed, he would find Tenrousei stopping in front of an older building that wasn't in great condition, but not so badly that it was going to cave in upon itself. The red headed girl padded up the sole step and entered through the shoji. Within, she tossed her pile of stolen goods onto the wooden floor just by the door. She didn't bother with flicking the light on. Instead, she turned to look at Surutameni, had he followed her, with a big grin plastered over her dirty face.

Surutameni couldn't help but have a grin plastered on his face as they continued their way through the alleys of the Grand Palais. He was amused to say the least, and her light girly laughter was cute to him, it made him never want to stop hearing it. He found himself thinking that he could get used to this sort of a life, even if it meant being chased by fat shopkeepers and picking fights. Though the more he thought about it the more he realized it was because of the human contact and the air of adventure that Tenrousei brought. He rarely spent time outside of the company of Unmei, and as much as he preferred that it was nice, every once in a while, to spend time with human beings.

"It was, But, we're not out of trouble quite yet. I need to get home with this stuff before word gets around. It spreads like fire over paper."

Surutameni was glad that she found the events of the day to be just as amusing as he did. He idly dismissed her warning about the whispered words of theft as they walked briskly through the alleyways. His thoughts wandered between being on his own for so long since his parents had never really been around and the question of if Tenrousei would be okay with him tagging along more often. His mind full of ideas and adventure, followed her without question. As she waved her hand at him, his attention was drawn back to their surroundings which hadn't changed much but had changed enough to warrant a second glance. The girl ahead of him pointed forward, and he went forward obediently, highly interested in where she was headed.

A few minutes passed and they approached a mildly run down house that seemed to be in some failing conditions, but so bad as to be dangerous. He watched as Tenrousei entered the home, and turned back to him, a huge grin plastered on her face. Surutameni couldn't help but give her a gleeful smirk as he climbed onto the step that lead within, looking up at her from his position. His face was beginning to hurt from the amount of smiling he had been doing since they began their fast paced trek, but it was worth it in his mind.

The red headed girl swiftly turned and stepped further into her humble abode, waving a hand to invite the boy further in. Her bare feet left dirty prints on the wooden floor behind her as she wandered over and into the kitchen of the home and gathered two glasses of water, returned and settled them on the sole wooden table in the center of the main room. She eyed the closed chest nearby and felt a sense of relief wash over her, thankful that she had put all of the contents away before she'd gone off on her little theft of an adventure. A door behind the chest rested back against its hinges, wide open and exposing the contents of the closet within. She sighed, didn't she close the door before she'd left? No, probably not. From there, she turned her gaze to the bathroom door just to the right of the closet and found that the door was closed. For some unusual reason, she felt the need to check the state of the room around her. It was unlike her to be so cautious and unususally worried about her place of residents. But, then again... She wasn't used to having a place to call home. Perhaps it was the respect she had felt for 'Mura that made her want to keep the place in good condition. She was sure that if she failed, the murderer would probably murder her. She mentally shrugged, content after finishing a quick visual sweep of the main room.

With a grin, she turned and looked at Surutameni and waved a hand at the water glass. "Water, come drink," she sat down, keeping her back straight and head held high. A sudden desire to present herself well came over her and she shifted where she sat. Her legs beneath her weren't used to such proper sitting and the muscles let out a small protest. She fidgeted again, adjusting her legs so that they were some what more comfortable, but in good form enough to sit proper.

She inhaled, held, and then exhaled slowly and took a small sip of her water, barely tipping the rim against her lips. She'd seen many 'proper' ladies on the occasion, and they all had a prim and prissy air about them. She had no idea if she was pulling the same kind of atmosphere off, but she was sure going to try. She looked at Surutameni from behind the lashes of her eyes and gave an awkward, but sweet, smile. "So, you have a crow. Aren't they dirty?"

Following her inside, Surutameni removed his sandals as a show of respect, not watning to dirty her floor with his own shoe prints. The wooden floor was cool to the touch, but not uncomfortably so. Once each piece of footwear had been removed he placed them just inside the entryway and continued forward, watching as his newest companion and hopefully, friend, looked about her home in a little bit of a curious manner. He remained silent as she placed her object within a chest, and even as she turned around, beaming with relative happiness. As Tenrousei waved her hand, gesturing to the glass on the the table ahead of him, Surutameni couldn't help but return a rather joyous grin. He hadn't felt this comfortable or accepted in a long time.
"Water, come drink."
He nodded swiftly as the girl in front of him sat, and got comfortable. Or, at least what seemed to be comfortable, he really couldn't wrap his head around the fact that she was sitting rather proper and neat. As he took a breath, Surutameni sat across from her while she fidgeted a bit, readjusting her position. He kept the smile on his face and settled himself down, crossing his legs and placing each hand properly on his knees. He removed one and reached forward to grab the glass and take a sip from his glass. He watched with a raised brow as the red haired girl gingerly took a sip of her water. It was peculiar to him, to see someone from the Grand Palais drinking water as if it were warmed Sake or an expensive wine. He pushed the laughable thoughts from his mind and let her think that she had fooled him, but he definitely knew better, he just did not want to be rude to someone in their own home.

The amber eyed boy blushed as she looked at him from behind the curtain of her eye-lashes. He squirmed uncomfortably as he felt the weight of her gave upon him.
"So, you have a crow. Aren't they dirty?"
He slightly choked on the water that he had been drinking when she broke the silence. He covered his mouth, spluttering and coughing, trying to regain his composure. "H-Honestly... They really aren't...." He paused thinking back to the packs of crows he used to feed near his home, "Well... At least Unmei cleans himself constantly." Surutameni shrugged and nodded, clearing his throat a little before taking another sip of his water. He found this to be incredibly humorous, here they both were acting like adults, and having a conversation over water. He liked to try to pretend it was Sake, just to get the correct air, but he didn't know if he was pulling it off well or not. He placed the glass back upon the table and returned the hand that had held it to his knee, straightening his back a little more and trying to keeping a straight face.

Tenrousei lifted her chin and brought her water to her lips again. "Mmm," she hummed, before replying, "Unmei is his name?" Placing her water on the table, the girl frowned and looked as if she was going to say something further when Xei bounded into the home, barreling through the threshold. His chest heaved in and out as he panted, tongue lulling out of his mouth. He looked over his shoulder, his tail no longer flailing and his ears erect. Satisfied, the canine gave another doggish grin and padded over to the children. He sniffed Tenrousei, resulting in a rapid tail wag, then moved to stand over Surutameni. There, he stared at the boy with intense green eyes. However, no more than a moment later, he was covering the boy's face with a series of welcoming licks.

Tenrousei couldn't help but laugh, reaching out with a hand to yank on Xei's tail and grab his attention, saving Surutameni from drowning in dog drool. Xei turned and threw his tongue assault onto Tenrousei, knocking her onto her back as he jumped on top of her. Giggling, the red headed girl pushed the canine off and used the hook of her arm to wipe the dog slobber from her face.

"Welcome back, Xei. You should put your pack with the rest of the catch," she suggested, pointing towards the pile she had left by the door. Xei complied, reluctantly, but not before stealing a lick to the face from each of them. There was a prancy gait to his walk.

Turning her gaze from the canine, she looked back at Surutameni and grinned. "Well, sorry about that. He usually doesn't take to other people. He likes you."

Nodding swiftly without thinking in response to Tenrousei's question about his bird, Surutameni took an accidentally large swig of water, the excess cascading down his shirt. He frowned unhappily, and blushed. He didn't feel very skilled and he felt as though he was being a bit of a slob, but it could have been worse. He glanced behind him as he heard the dogs nails scuffing and clicking across the wooden floor. Xei's attention was always on Tenrousei, so when he spun around and and proceeded to slobber and lick all over his face, it took him by surprise. The boy fell backwards under the assault from the canine, laughing hysterically and trying to push the fluffy animal away and off of his face.

As the attack on Suru's face continued, Unmei rapidly flew inside, alighting carefully on the table to watch the antics that were taking place in front of him. The bird looked from his child companion to Tenrousei, giving her a rather evil glare before hopping towards her to take a sip of her water. The look in his eye was challenging, daring her to do something about him. Squawking, Unmei turned and hopped over to Suru as he finally was able to get relief from the dog's tongue. The boy sat up, a grin plastered across his face as he wiped the drool and slobber from his cheeks. He watched as Xei trotted to the cache by the door, before turning his attention back to Tenrousei, and idly scratching Unmei's head. The bird's feathers lifted, giving him a rather plush appearance, and he cooed softly, enjoying the attention.

"Well, sorry about that. He usually doesn't take to other people. He likes you."

Surutameni smirked in response. "I really don't have a problem with that. I am glad he likes me, I would be concerned if he didn't."
