Karasu was feeling like a tourist. There were a lot of things she didn’t remember but there were a few that had some familiarity to her. It’s been so long since she was here and she was just a young child. She tried hard to think back to see if she recalled the buildings or people but nothing came to mind other than some vague memories that she wasn’t even sure were real. There was a shop that she identified immediately because it was the one she and her mother used to go to. It was a beautiful small flower shop that used to be at the edge of her village. A smile crept up on her face as the memory flooded her with warmth.
She walked into the shop and would smile at the old lady who was at the front desk. “Good afternoon dear. Can I help you with anything? We have a special sale on our flowers today. Any kind you get you will get the other half off. So go ahead and look around and see what catches your fancy.” the old lady smiled and Karasu smiled back at her. “Thank you very much. I will look around.” She went around the shop picking several kinds. Although there was no grave for her mother to put the flowers on, she thought if she put it at the bottom of a tree or maybe even by a river and have the flowers float down the stream and give a little prayer. Just something simple would do to give her mother a small personal memorial.
After buying several flowers she decided on the river thinking that her mother would love the water. She placed the flowers on some branches that she made into a small bed the flowers could lay upon so it would float better in the river. She closed her eyes for a long moment and said a prayer thinking of all the memories that she and her parents shared together. A small tear would run down her face. Knowing that this was the only time she was able to properly say goodbye to her mother. This would be the closure she needed after all these years. After the prayer she placed the flowers down on the branches and watched it float down the river.
“Goodbye mom. I will never forget you and will love you forever”
