As the wind continued to blow behind him, Mori could only hope that he'd find his answers within the remnants of his old home. Closing his eyes every now and then as he took a step forward, he tried to remember what his house used to look like, the places he used to roam around as a kid. Before everything was covered in a white blanket that threatened to take everything and everyone into an eternal slumber. He tried to recall the colors that used to paint the path that led to the outskirts of the village where he used to play, yet every attempt was a failure. In his mind, each time he tried to remember a memory - those wonderful colors and emotions would quickly blur into nothingness, engulfed in a haunting mist that somehow beckoned to him from within, begging him to come.
Then he remembered that each time he would wake up from a daydream, a gentle yet tempting inhuman voice would call out to him, asking to close his eyes once more. He would usually shrug it off, the sense of reality washing away his sleepiness. But each time, the voice grew stronger. It no longer followed the pattern and instead chose to invade his reality. He would perceive things that were not of this world, an image that one could not usually comprehend. It always left Mori in a state of shock when they appear before him, seemingly blending in with the mundane activities of everyday life before disappearing from his sights. Now that he left the protection of the village, these beings became more active, appearing more frequently than before. Watching him from behind the trees and stones, some were on the ground like a puddle of water. Mori could only pretend that he couldn't see them as he continued his trek down the valley of Lightning but deep down, he knew that these things won't be watching forever.
As he closed his eyes once more, he felt the hair on his neck stand up. A chilling grasp racing through his body.
"Let us begin." A voice whispered in his ear.
