Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The Science of Cooking (Yume)

Sousuke's eyes narrowed as he reached the soup that they were working on. "I... am highly doubtful that it can be salvaged, given what I am reading here."<i></i> Sousuke closed the tome with a mighty thud. When Yume spoke of it simmering, he re-opened the tome again. He went to the section entitled simmering. Sousuke began reading the section. His eyes raised from the tome as he was considering what she was saying. "I guess we could do that."<i></i> He would simply say as he looked up from his reading. "Hrmph..."<i></i> Sousuke reached into his lab coat and pulled out his planner. He began flipping through his schedule. "Let's see tomorrow's schedule... or the day after..."<i></i> He skimmed his schedule. "Tomorrow I'm in the lab, but the day after is looking better ... Ten - booked. I'm lecturing. Oh. I do have twelve forty-six free, yes. That would be most appreciative. We could have lunch together."<i></i> Sousuke's eyes fixated upon the rest of the day's events. "Will the soup last that long?"<i></i>

Sousuke continued to look over his schedule. "Right."<i></i> He closed the book, his eyes traced back to the soup. "After lunch the day after tomorrow. I have to attend a colleague's lecture on grander cosmic studies. He's trying to get a grant from particular nobles, and he wanted me to attend because ... nobles are usually fighting for a spot to be an advisor. He's hoping that if I attend, that'll draw out some interest parties to give him grants."<i></i> Sousuke's eyes shifted to the side. "Fascinating subject really, if only he was capable of expanding his research. That's only possible if he gets a grant. I am hoping he'll get one."<i></i> Sousuke cleared his throat. "You're welcome to attend said lecture with me, if you're willing to expand your horizons that far. I know it's not medical studies, but ... it is interesting at the very least."<i></i>

The soup will certainly last that long. I’ll simmer it for awhile and then keep it in the fridge and heat it up the morning before I show up. I will boil and add the pasta before I come for lunch at twelve forty-six and not a minute earlier.

Her beaming smile would light up her entire face at the prospect of bringing Sousuke lunch that they had made together; she only hoped that the extra steps would yield the desired results as the potential for failure seemed to devastate the Steward. No, it would be fine. She was certain that everything would work out in the end. She would clap her hands together and squeal with glee at his next proposal, rising on the balls of her feet and bouncing a little with excitement.

I am familiar with the grant process as I have considered getting one for my more delicate research but I have never followed through as my hypotheses have never reached the stage where one would be required. I would love to attend with you. What subject is he researching? I suppose I will find out in two-day time but I would like to do a little of my own reading prior to so that I will at least understand the fundamentals. I desire my horizons to be as broad as that of the desert above.

There was just something about study and theory that made Yume open up and show her true rainbow of colours. Her interests spanned everything from homesteading to genetic engineering to the discipline required to be a shinobi. She would give the pot another stir, mixing up the components before settling the lid over and reducing the heat as much as she could without letting the flame go out. Whirling around she would face the Steward once more, rather giddy and it showed by the spring in her step that had been with her since that morning in the market. Life was always an adventure.

I know that I’ll have to wear shoes but is there a dress-code required to attend such things? And is CuRua allowed to join me? I know that many places recognize the bond between and Inuzuka and their companion but some do not subscribe to that method of thinking and see them as mere animals. As you have seen yourself from meeting with him, that is not the case. I could have him maintain a human-form if that would be better but… No, never mind that would be silly. Natural form it would have to be.

She would laugh nervously at her last statement. If he was asking her on a date, then having her fox as a human would be intruding on his invitation. If this was simply an invitation based on a mutual interest, it still may be considered rude to bring an uninvited guest; even more so than bringing the companion as a fox. Her smile would turn bashful as she would look down to her feet and scuff them a little. Perhaps she was over thinking this. While Sousuke had admitted that he cared for Yume and felt that she understands him, and he her, he hadn’t outright expressed to her the intention of courting. She couldn’t very well tell him that she had been listening into his private conversation with Shinji; as CuRua had told her, it was impolite. Ah, there were still many nuances to social interaction that she had to refine but perhaps their common ground of inelegance with delicate relations would afford her some flexibility. Deciding that candidness would be best, she would clear her throat and drop her voice to avoid Shinji from doing the very thing she had earlier.

Sousuke… I… I heard the conversation you and Shinji had. It was impolite of me to listen but I was curious. It was… it was nice to hear you speak such things and I would be amiss without stating that I enjoy your company as well. I like you, Takahashi Sousuke. I like you a lot.

Her words would seem inadequate to her mind but she didn’t want them to be seen as desperate or perhaps trying to get more from him than he was willing to give. She was happy as his friend, and more than willing to share his interests if he was willing to teach her. For her, that would be more than enough reason to keep friendship with him.

"Grander Cosmic Studies is a study into ... well I suppose I used the broadest term. His studies are more concerned about astrology and how they affect us daily. One of his theories is that well... when we use ninjutsu, in particular fire or photon jutsu we're borrowing upon those elements from cosmic entities such as stars. He also goes on about how the shadow element isn't really shadow it's more of the concept that we're using the darkness of space. It's fascinating, but ... I think he may put some people to sleep."<i></i> Sousuke explained. Next came the topic of dress code. Sousuke's eyes wandered to the ceiling for a moment. "It'll be casual, but the nobles attending it will turn it into some sort of ultra-formal meeting ... not that is going to stop me from wearing my lab coat or normal clothes. CuRua can come as well of course. Just don't let Lady Tomoko see him ... mainly due to the fact she may try to buy him from you because ..."<i></i> Sousuke stopped. He didn't want to finish his sentence because it would have ended with that Lady Tomoko would have CuRua turned into a part of her next coat. Granted if that happened, Sousuke would then have her charged, and trialed, and ... dealt with. Perhaps it would be best to tell her the truth...

Sousuke opened his mouth, but then paused as Yume then told him that she was listening in on him and Shinji from earlier. The Steward was speechless as he stood there for a moment. He closed his mouth only to open it again, but then he closed it. He wasn't making eye contact at first as the words were finally coming out. "A-ah."<i></i> He was once again silent. She said that she liked him. This was an unforeseen development. "I... I... am not quite sure what to say or to do at moments like this, because this is a first. ... Your reply has come as a bit of a shock. Not a bad one, a surprisingly good one."<i></i> He finally made eye contact with Yume. A smile formed upon his face. "Yume I... reciprocate these feelings of fondness but towards you... that is to say I like you too. Quite a lot."<i></i>

The blush that had swept her features upon admitting her feelings, flourished anew as Sousuke returned the sentiments. It went without saying that she had never seen the Steward give such a genuine smile and she returned it in kind, unable to contain her glee but attempting to by biting her lip and looking to the side, swaying back and forth a little. After a long pause she would brush her bangs out of her face and looking up at him, still rather nervous from her admission. It wasn't like she said that she loved him, that was too serious of a word to say without absolute certainty, but it was more than she had ever disclosed to anyone outside of family before. Her heart pounded in her chest with such intensity she was certain that everyone in the house could hear it which only quickened her pulse further. Taking a few deep breaths, she would swallow and giggle anxiously.

Ah... I'm glad. I didn't meant to force you into a confession but it's nice to hear it... you know... personally. I probably shouldn't keep you from your duties any longer. I'm sure as Steward you have business to attend to. I look forward to tomorrow.

A bashful smile remained as she walked him to the door without incident. She hesitated for a moment as they exchanged their farewells, deliberating whether it would be too forward to kiss him, on the cheek or other wise. Finding her courgage having faltered, she would lift her hand to scratch at her clan markings with another nervous giggle before wiggling her fingers in a wave good-bye. As the door closed behind the Steward, Yume exhaled the breath she didn't realize she had been holding. A thousand different thoughts were swirling through her head, fluid as the wind that gave the country its name, as she leaned her back against the door and slid to the ground. She struggled to keep her breathing even and return her mind to a state of calm, a feat that became that much harder when Shinji appeared in the hallway with her and CooRoo curled up in her lap. She would stroke his fur absently, eyes fixated on a spot through the floor and features expressionless. Her neck would snap up, to look at her brother when he finally spoke.

You alright there, kiddo?

He likes me... Did you hear that Shinji? He likes me. He doesn't think I'm strange. I'm not just a facination or a research project. He sees me as human.

The desert fox would offer his best-friend comfort by licking her arm as she combed his fur with her nails. Having been with her since they were both kits, he knew that despite smiling when the other children would look at her strange that she had always wanted someone to treat her like she was 'normal'; that in spite of her bloodline and the odd mannerisims that came with it, she was still human. She would pat her shoulder to indicate that she was going to move and the fox lept up and under her hair, poking his face out on one side and his tail on the other. Rising to her feet, she would embrace her brother tightly as tears streamed uncontrollably from her eyes and onto his shirt.

His hand would cup the back of her head while one arm wrapped around her shoulder as he rocked her back and forth, quietly shhhing in her ear in an attempt to comfort her. Emotions were as confusing to him as they were to most males and it was times like this that he wished Kara was still here. She would know how to handle this better than just telling her it would be okay. She knew everything was okay; that was why she was crying. It had been four years and while there were still many nuances of his sister that didn't make sense but he adored, there was one thing he could determine. She wasn't sad. She was overwhelmed with happiness. A weight had been lifted for her. Someone other than her family cared for her.
