Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Akira is a man who no longer cares about his own life. He has seen death, delivered it often enough, and survived despite its seeming inevitability. His master has gone, his family are better without him and his most loyal of pets has died from old age. He spends his time creating implements that can be used for killing, and although he has retired from combat he knows that a time will inevitably arrive where he will need to make a decision. That decision will likely lead him down the last path he will walk, and he will do so with pride in who he became and what he achieved with his life. Death is not something to avoid anymore... it is something which is inevitable, and when it is his time he will welcome it, and get to see those he lost along his path. Perhaps he might even get to feel the proud eyes of Shinbatsu look upon him as he takes his place beside the god in the afterlife.

2 - Defensive Technique - -1 Acc for +1 Dodge. 10% Damage Reduction
Having always been a defensive fighter Akira uses his bloodline abilities as well as any other techniques he can to make himself as difficult to harm as possible. The defensive techniques that he uses are likely different to those of other shinobi as he has access to the Byakugan as well as decades of experience. This isn't to say that his is the best technique, he has seen better, but in the end there are those who cannot be replicated and must only be admired. Akira's technique has only become better with time as his skin and hands harden due to the hardships that come with being a smith.

3 - Deflection - Partials treated 1 rank lower, 10% chance for missed attacks to be deflected
When attacks do hit Akira he is quite capable of taking them, however it is when he's able to force a miss or a near miss that he becomes most dangerous. Should his opponents miss him then he would take advantage, either making their attacks do even less damage or should they miss entirely then he would use their attack's momentum and hurl it back at them. He knew other techniques which were safer to use which might enable the same to be done, but being able to do this made him a dangerous adversary. His opponents couldn't simply attack him, for to do that could mean their losing their lives to their own techniques.

4 - Jutsu Expansion - Can upgrade jutsu 1 rank.
The ability to take a technique one step beyond what it would normally be capable of is something which any skilled and veteran fighter should either have or strive to attain. The techniques allow a wider variety of attacks and defenses for the shinobi, and variety can only mean that they can adapt to the situation that they find themselves in. Akira has fought in many battles and several wars, adaptation to his surrounding and the ability to make better use of the techniques at his disposal are things he takes for granted as simply a natural step in his existence as a shinobi.

6 - Bulls Strength - +5% Damage, +3% Suppression or Bleeding. Reduces Acc penalty by 1 for custom weapons.
If anything could be used to describe Akira, strong would have to be one of the first. Standing at nearly 7 foot, slightly shy of the height of his master Shinbatsu, yet he didn't have his masters build. Tall and slender was how Shinbatsu stood, he certainly had his muscle but Akira always took that to the next level. Massive arms like tree trunks matched only by his legs. Huge shoulders and a barrel chest supported by a heavily muscular back and carved abdominal area. Few stand as tall as Akira, none cast as large a shadow. It is with this strength that he wields the massive blade of his inheritance with the ease that a lesser man might wield a katana.

7 - Duelist - +2 Acc/Dodge, +10% Damage, +10% Auto-Dodge vs 1 opponent. -2 Dodge/Save against anyone else.
Fighting one on one is the ideal situation for any shinobi, but Akira is aware that this isn't often how battles play out. Instead he has a method to his fights. He picks an opponent who he is going to take out first... once that opponent is taken out of the picture then he can focus on someone else. One can only fight one person at a time, avoiding the others while taking that opponent out however is also very important. Because of this Akira's focus can be quite disturbing to his opponents, his ability to simply ignore their existence and weather the storm is perhaps Akira's scariest ability.

8 - Strategist - 5 Prepared slots
The first attribute Akira displayed was his ability to think ahead. He used this several times to tremendous effect. Doing substantial damage against a Sennin when he was barely a junior ANBU in a one versus two fight against two Sennin (he was unaware that one was actually the Raikage) shortly before being thrown out of the village. He had sent his master away from the fight, knowing that should he have been involved it could have complicated matters, this was the start of the rebellion against Ryuujin's rule. Other times this came in useful was when Akira saved Shin's life when two Jounin attacked him when training an academy student, and also during a duel against the pedo Sennin Ringo.

Taking an opponents mistake and turning it into an advantage are the shinobi's greatest skills. Akira has focused his bloodline's defensive capabilities to such an extent that he is surely one of the hardest to harm shinobi in the world, yet it is the ability to avoid an attack altogether and then strike with a devastating attack that makes him most dangerous. Those split second openings revealed when an opponent believes they've hit an attack are the keys to many a combat, and Akira enjoys the expression on their face when they see his reply. Skills don't get rusty on a shinobi, but their joints do... Akira's only real concern is his ability to still be the shinobi he was in his youth.

All abilities have been approved, except Human Anatomy and Sentinel.

You seem to have forgotten to put in the Human Anatomy role play within the spoiler, and branch abilities (Sentinel) requires RPs as well.

Thankfully, Shinobi 101 does not.

Oops, must have missed Human Anatomy, didn't know about Sentinel.

Human Anatomy
Often Akira has been accused of misuse of his natural abilities. When he was younger he focused on the Ninjutsu arts, using his eyes alone amongst the many benefits that his bloodline blessed him with. Yet as he grew he took on more of the specialties his bloodline had and moved further and further away from Ninjutsu, focusing mainly now in Taijutsu. The Hyuuga bloodline does have its benefits with this, though Akira took it a step further, and with his well trained combat skills he began being able to target precise locations that would do the most damage with his strikes. This is not perfect of course as a target is capable of dodging, however it does give him a greater chance of success.

Sentinel
Akira has been an ANBU for more than two decades and during this time the thing he was always best at, probably helped by his being a Hyuuga, was gate duty. His extra sight had been used by the village for many years as a foretelling of incoming wanderers, whether they were shinobi or merchant. Akira's ability in this area has allowed him to catch and stop several from attempting to force their way into the village as well as many attempting to leave without the villages blessing.

Doing the work of a Sentinel was Akira's discipline, though he has attempted several other aspects of the ANBU trade, usually these have not been so successful.

Thinking ahead, utilising everything in his arsenal. These were things that his master instilled in Akira. His strength and speed were but a part of what made Akira dangerous, and his use of Taijutsu had only been a recent thing. Less than a decade ago Akira had been a Genjutsu and Ninjutsu specialist. Using his Byakugan to be able to target his enemy at range or hidden. It was always the secret about his combat, that others would see the byakugan and assume melee, and then receive everything but.

However Shinbatsu had always trained him in melee, telling him that he should focus on it, telling him that he would be stronger for it. So even in the god's absence Akira did train it. His lack of self-confidence in his Hyuuga techniques and melee combat had been why he had turned down the position of Clan Head when his father died.

Still over nearly a decade since he had been held captive and tortured he had been using the melee weapon his master had given him, becoming more and more in tune with melee combat. So he was having to refine his abilities. One of the techniques he had gained through the use of the blade was that he was able to bring his Ninjutsu into his melee attacks, landing both at nearly full power which in turn meant the attack as a whole was much more dangerous.

To bring in his genjutsu knowledge he would need to train however, though training had never been an issue. And over the years before he retired he learned a new method to attack. A method that would create a blur with each strike, forcing the opponent to defend against not only a physical attack but against a genjutsu one as well. It was similar to the shadow boxers he had heard stories about, but probably not at refined. Still it had taken shape based on the techniques he had heard they had.

After that it was fairly simple. He utilised the other aspects of using Genjutsu into his arsenal, allowing him to take on missions which would normally take multiple shinobi as he could now control the combat. He could force his enemy to target one another, make them think they were on fire, have them debilitated so much that he could strike down his targets with ease. Using the full form of his technique allowed him to plow into armies and almost completely ignore civilian attacks made on him, even skilled warriors without the use of chakra couldn't touch him in that form, and then he could destroy large groups easily. He was truly becoming what his master had always hoped he would become.

But then he retired.

8 - Elemental Aura
Elements achieved a great deal for shinobi. They were the core of ninjutsu and as such they were potentially the most dangerous aspect to use. However there were other means to use them, and these means would allow for someone to achieve much more than they would otherwise achieve. Using the energies of Ninjutsu to encapsulate oneself however could open up a whole new range of attacks and defences, something which Akira knew he needed to utilise should he want to fully use all the abilities he had at his disposal. His defensive techniques now relying on his knowledge of Ninjutsu.

9 - Jutsu Expansion (oops didn't mean to remove this one)

A master of all combat techniques Akira originally had a special place for Ninjutsu. He would use earth ninjutsu to hide beneath the ground itself and then with his abilities from the Saito Clan he would strike at his opponents knowing where they were. It was a great combination, and fantastic for someone who was pitted often against fighters stronger than himself. For he was Shinbatsu's pupil and thus he was forced to fight opponents who would seek out the master of the pits. Shinbatsu's pride shone on Akira as he grew, and he knew it though never truly acknowledged it, even was embarrassed by his masters gloating on his students abilities. For in Akira's mind he was still too weak.

His knowledge of Ninjutsu was limited at the time to a few jutsu, he specialised in ANBU techniques and focused on fighting from the shadows. His body grew larger, so it became harder and harder for him to hide himself, requiring the abilities of certain jutsu to achieve such. Realizing that he was his mothers son he knew he should focus on his physical abilities much like his master had told him to do. So his learning in Ninjutsu took a step backwards as he explored the strengths and weaknesses of Taijutsu. As a Saito clan member he looked into unarmed combat primarily, using their techniques to make himself stronger. Under his masters tutelage he grew stronger, his master used his own clans abilities, those of the Uchiha to train Akira. Easy going was never expected and never delivered. Akira would end up nearly dead almost daily, for despite what condition he was in his master would not let him rest as long as he should to fully recover.

It was when the Medical Branch and ANBU Branches rivalry reached a peak that Akira was recognized for his abilities. He was placed against a shinobi who was stronger than he was, or at least the Medical branch thought so. Hinote was his name and he was to rise to prestige within the village in his own right, yet the day they fought he found the ground itself erupting at his feat. It was with this victory that Akira wondered about the strength of the wood element jutsu. He had always been so careful to make sure he was safe during combat while his master took the foes on face to face, he wondered if this was a case of clan differences. The Uchiha being fighters while the Hyuuga lineage focused on defense with Kaiten and wearing their opponents down over time.

If he were instead to focus on his more offensive abilities then perhaps he could fight alongside his master the way he dreamed of doing while he slept. Unfortunately he would never manage to see this vision come to reality, and he instead ended up in a fight with the Raikage and Main Branch Sennin. Being cast from the village caused him to roam the land without purpose, for the first few weeks he spent time in villages in Marsh and Bear countries who hired his services for missions which he did without thinking of any consequences. After this period which later he would think of as grieving he spent time refocusing himself, getting stronger, learning jutsu and techniques for his return. So that on that day he and his master could do as he had dreamed.

Wood jutsu was the focus at this point in his life and he did so in the forest of Fire Country. Eventually he figured out the mixture of chakras, though only managing the most basic of jutsu. Moving into the village of Leaf he found members of a clan who were specialists in Wood and learned techniques from them to enhance his abilities. With this he furthered his ability to fight more head on, combined with his Taijutsu he felt strong, and then he took on his first student, Nakamura Ryuuji. He would leave Leaf to return to Cloud a year odd later only to find his master had taken the position of Raikage, and only for his master to ascend before the two could reunite.

Shinobi 101 - Kinetic jutsu will now use Genjutsu DC

Advanced element: Kinetic (106 words)
Always looking for ways in which he could best manipulate the gift his byakugan gave him the use of kinetic jutsu had been one which Akira had trained in from a young age. It had enabled him to sit in the treeline, see into a building miles away and then take the target without needing to get close. Perhaps a combination a master thief would like, Akira had only looked at it from a mission perspective. It also provided him with other benefits like the ability to deflect opponents attacks, perhaps another thing that was inherited from his clan was the defensive nature of Akira's training.

Advanced element: Scorch (127 words)
As Akira grew older he found himself tested against stronger and stronger opponents. A Hyuuga and previous teacher of his from his days in the academy, Numa, had challenged him when he was only young to a duel. The fool had expended all his strength in a single scorch attack which shattered the earth which Akira had managed to hide under. The blast revealed Akira and did some damage, but the fight had been over as soon as it had been used. Despite this Akira found that the man did have a point, that defense was useless if you couldn't end your opponent. It was this last lesson learned from his old sensei that led Akira to learn the art of Scorch ninjutsu. In memory of Numa.

Advanced element: Blood (154 words)
The advanced element of Blood was a technique learned by Akira during his time as a retired shinobi. He had been visited by a young man named Kushin. The young man was a shinobi, and the two met in silence, the only exchange in words had been the order given by Kushin for a pair of weapons. No further conversation was made, but the two observed each other. Kushin was unnerving to Akira, the man was perhaps the opposite of the older man, small, slight, but there was something about his eyes which made Akira wary of him. Death looked out from behind those eyes. Yet also he had been able to identify the bloodline the man used when he activated his byakugan while working on the weapons. It was purely because of this encounter that Akira decided to study how to use blood jutsu, to better understand what this potential enemy could use.

I'm sorry Saito, but I'm afraid I can only approve the Shinobi 101. You must have at least 300 words in order to unlock a single advanced element.

No worries, I thought it was 100 lol, I think I got them confused with abilities.

As his training continued into his later years he found other uses for the Kinetic jutsu. It was a great training tool for a young man of another village, another boy who like Akira was defensively focused, though to a degree Akira could never achieve. He was able to test the boy’s defences with Kinetic jutsu without onlookers thinking that anything was happening. It was simply a case of one boy showing his defensive abilities, the other walking around it, looking for openings, a quiet type of training. Only the occasional crunch sound coming as earth and stone was crushed under the pressure of the psyonic assault. As he got older again his use became more limited, and yet refined, as he’d use it for more non-combative things such as bringing tools to his hand when performing his retirement work as a blacksmith. Placing a kettle on the stove to boil in order to make his tea. Things which to others meant very little, but to Akira meant that he was making the use of the jutsu second nature, something which required very little in the way of effort to control, and something which placed his ability with it at a level that others would consider their ability to walk or breath to be at.

Advanced element: Scorch (127 words)
As Akira grew older he found himself tested against stronger and stronger opponents. A Hyuuga and previous teacher of his from his days in the academy, Numa, had challenged him when he was only young to a duel. Despite this Akira found that the man did have a point, that defence was useless if you couldn't end your opponent. It was this last lesson learned from his old sensei that led Akira to learn the art of Scorch ninjutsu.

So it was that in memory of Numa that Akira trained in one of the most destructive jutsu types. Being typically a defensive fighter, primarily from his Hyuuga background and his role in combat for when joined by him and Shinbatsu, he found it quite difficult. Using the moves to hit a target was unusual for him, ranged accuracy against an opponent who could see what was coming was never a great thing to do. Traditionally he’d have hidden under the earth and attacked from there, but he was getting older, stronger, more capable. Hiding meant that he lost out on other things such as keeping up with his target, keeping track of them, not letting them escape. Yet most ninjutsu seemed to be at range. Deciding that he needed to counter this he began training in a different style of combat, one which would allow him to use Ninjutsu up close. It was tricky, and for a long time only particular jutsu were able to be used like that.

One day however, that all changed. The day that he was freed from captivity and blessed by his master it was as if another gift had been given.

It was purely because of this encounter that Akira decided to study how to use blood jutsu, to better understand what this potential enemy could use.

It was a difficult jutsu to master. Using it often took a toll on his body as well as his chakra, and that made life more confusing. He wasn’t used to having jutsu take from two sources. Was this a weakness in himself or in the jutsu itself? It was something he couldn’t quite figure out, and testing it while training non-shinobi youth in shinobi techniques and performing his duties as the town’s blacksmith, he found little in the way of time to improve. One day however that all changed, and he was brought back to Kumogakure by Rin, a long-time friend of his. Leaving the students to continue their training without him he took up the place of blacksmith for the ANBU, occasionally being challenged to duals by the younger brasher ANBU who knew who he was. It amused Akira that they would do such, but in the end it allowed him to begin to more fully understand Blood jutsu.
