Akira is a man who no longer cares about his own life. He has seen death, delivered it often enough, and survived despite its seeming inevitability. His master has gone, his family are better without him and his most loyal of pets has died from old age. He spends his time creating implements that can be used for killing, and although he has retired from combat he knows that a time will inevitably arrive where he will need to make a decision. That decision will likely lead him down the last path he will walk, and he will do so with pride in who he became and what he achieved with his life. Death is not something to avoid anymore... it is something which is inevitable, and when it is his time he will welcome it, and get to see those he lost along his path. Perhaps he might even get to feel the proud eyes of Shinbatsu look upon him as he takes his place beside the god in the afterlife.

Having always been a defensive fighter Akira uses his bloodline abilities as well as any other techniques he can to make himself as difficult to harm as possible. The defensive techniques that he uses are likely different to those of other shinobi as he has access to the Byakugan as well as decades of experience. This isn't to say that his is the best technique, he has seen better, but in the end there are those who cannot be replicated and must only be admired. Akira's technique has only become better with time as his skin and hands harden due to the hardships that come with being a smith.

When attacks do hit Akira he is quite capable of taking them, however it is when he's able to force a miss or a near miss that he becomes most dangerous. Should his opponents miss him then he would take advantage, either making their attacks do even less damage or should they miss entirely then he would use their attack's momentum and hurl it back at them. He knew other techniques which were safer to use which might enable the same to be done, but being able to do this made him a dangerous adversary. His opponents couldn't simply attack him, for to do that could mean their losing their lives to their own techniques.

The ability to take a technique one step beyond what it would normally be capable of is something which any skilled and veteran fighter should either have or strive to attain. The techniques allow a wider variety of attacks and defenses for the shinobi, and variety can only mean that they can adapt to the situation that they find themselves in. Akira has fought in many battles and several wars, adaptation to his surrounding and the ability to make better use of the techniques at his disposal are things he takes for granted as simply a natural step in his existence as a shinobi.

If anything could be used to describe Akira, strong would have to be one of the first. Standing at nearly 7 foot, slightly shy of the height of his master Shinbatsu, yet he didn't have his masters build. Tall and slender was how Shinbatsu stood, he certainly had his muscle but Akira always took that to the next level. Massive arms like tree trunks matched only by his legs. Huge shoulders and a barrel chest supported by a heavily muscular back and carved abdominal area. Few stand as tall as Akira, none cast as large a shadow. It is with this strength that he wields the massive blade of his inheritance with the ease that a lesser man might wield a katana.

Fighting one on one is the ideal situation for any shinobi, but Akira is aware that this isn't often how battles play out. Instead he has a method to his fights. He picks an opponent who he is going to take out first... once that opponent is taken out of the picture then he can focus on someone else. One can only fight one person at a time, avoiding the others while taking that opponent out however is also very important. Because of this Akira's focus can be quite disturbing to his opponents, his ability to simply ignore their existence and weather the storm is perhaps Akira's scariest ability.

The first attribute Akira displayed was his ability to think ahead. He used this several times to tremendous effect. Doing substantial damage against a Sennin when he was barely a junior ANBU in a one versus two fight against two Sennin (he was unaware that one was actually the Raikage) shortly before being thrown out of the village. He had sent his master away from the fight, knowing that should he have been involved it could have complicated matters, this was the start of the rebellion against Ryuujin's rule. Other times this came in useful was when Akira saved Shin's life when two Jounin attacked him when training an academy student, and also during a duel against the pedo Sennin Ringo.

Taking an opponents mistake and turning it into an advantage are the shinobi's greatest skills. Akira has focused his bloodline's defensive capabilities to such an extent that he is surely one of the hardest to harm shinobi in the world, yet it is the ability to avoid an attack altogether and then strike with a devastating attack that makes him most dangerous. Those split second openings revealed when an opponent believes they've hit an attack are the keys to many a combat, and Akira enjoys the expression on their face when they see his reply. Skills don't get rusty on a shinobi, but their joints do... Akira's only real concern is his ability to still be the shinobi he was in his youth.
