Yuuto had begun his trek, using the tracking beacon he had found earlier. He would not allow the eels to escape him. The one he tracked was weakened, unable to fend him off at this time, and he knew it. On top of that, if there was a nest where it was resting, he would be able to wipe them out entirely.
He followed the path through the woods carefully, sticking to the trees that sat off the ground. Yuuto had luckily noticed that they were using some kind of sensing beneath the earth, attempting to attack anything that came too close. It must have been a form of vibration detection or echolocation, using the ground to reverberate. At least, that was his best guess.
He came upon a clearing. The chakra sensor whirred intensely. He had found where the creature was nesting. Using Chakra Sense, he began trying to detect what lay beneath the ground. This would have been far easier if he still possessed the power of the Hashigaki clan. He could have simply used sound ninjutsu, heard every creature below, and eliminated them instinctively. Even genjutsu would have allowed him to penetrate the earth without needing to truly sense them all.
Much like his current style of puppeteering, doing things the manual way was far more tedious.
After finishing his scrying from above, he locked onto his targets. There were five more of them, sleeping peacefully, while the one he had attacked earlier struggled to rest from its injuries.
How unfortunate for them.
Yuuto spent the next stretch of time preparing. First, he performed the jutsu known as Sol Fire Tempest. It took several seconds to charge, but eventually fire and dirt coalesced in the air, forming something akin to a small meteor. Or rather, an imitation of one. In some ways, this could easily be called overkill. There was little reason to summon a meteor onto the side of a mountain other than pure excess. Still, Yuuto had scaled the jutsu down, making it compact and dense. The impact would be more than enough to destroy the nest, and he would not have been surprised if it left behind a crater. He had little time to waste, nor any desire to be caught off guard.
He followed this up by leveraging his mastery of fire ninjutsu to chain another technique, the Gate of Enma. An apparition of a gate slowly rose from the ground, as if chakra itself willed it into existence. It leaked cursed chakra, similar to the kind Yuuto had begun wielding himself. The eerie energy seeped outward, crawling through the earth to affect the creatures below.
He intended to hit every one of them with this destructive combination. His chakra reserves screamed in excruciating protest, but he could not let up. Not even slightly.
The meteor struck the ground, its impact carving a small crater into the earth. Almost immediately, the Gates of Enma followed, releasing waves of cursed energy. The cursed chakra cascaded across the scorched and shattered soil. Eels burst from the ground, succumbing either to the lingering agony of Enma or dying outright in the sea of flames. The fire from Sol Fire Tempest washed over Yuuto as well, flames rolling across his skin. He did not care. The searing heat did not truly harm him, and his body was far more resilient to this kind of pain.
A giant eel emerged from the crater. It resembled the others, but its body was thicker, more otter-like, built to crack stone and earth with its massive, meaty tail. Its flesh was burned, scorched by the meteor, and it struggled beneath the weight of the cursed jutsu. Its only reprieve came when the final wave passed over it. The creature roared, and with one last act of defiance, it unleashed a Gigavolt Cannon. A massive burst of electricity erupted from its mouth, aimed straight at Yuuto.
Oh, you found me?
He thought to himself, genuinely impressed that it could still muster such an attack.
Yuuto flashed through the technique with ease, summoning Yatagarasu from a nearby tree. From above, it rained sharpened feathers down upon the creature, ending its suffering swiftly.
Yuuto walked through the scorched battlefield, quietly admiring his work. He used his puppet to lift the creature from the dirt. He would not let such a fine specimen go to waste. Everything had value.
Meanwhile, he wove hand seals with one hand and summoned a series of Shadow Clones. Dark, abyssal spectres formed and stood at the ready. Yuuto used his chakra threads to detach pieces of his puppet and reshape them into shovels. Though he was practically down to his underwear, the lingering warmth from his jutsu was more than enough to keep him comfortable. For now, he and his spectres would begin repurposing the ruined earth around the crater, filling it in as best they could.
He had made a mess, and he intended to correct it.
