Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The journey back to the Byakko Estate would be a quiet one for myself as I didn't have much to say to this child. It wasn't due to the fact that he smelled or looked funny, but more so that I didn't teach him nor knew anything about him so it was simply odd that I was being tasked with this assignment of the child. However, I was asked and I could not turn down an offer to evaluate someone as it was second nature in my blood as the medical chief and also a shinobi in general. But the planning from the Academy could have been better as I had been told mere hours prior to Senju Kazuki's class starting that I would be needing to grab Chikamatsu Shin from the room and possibly dealing with the wrath of the Senju Overlord. Fortunately, everything had gone according to plan and I had nothing to worry about excluding the cold, death-like aura that radiated from Kazuki that had an effect on the students, the facility and the outside world as it wasn't looking too pleasant as we had walked. The fact that Kazuki had been teaching was a little alarming, but not that surprising as anyone was allowed to teach that had at least been promoted to a Chunnin even though a select few individuals including myself usually handled the majority of the work at the Academy.

In any case, our journey would take us through the village to the outskirts where we would go through a long, air conditioned corridor that would eventually lead to the main entrance of the village to outsiders along with the respective corridors that shot off that lead to each branch of the Toraono Clan. We would head down the Byakko one after a quick nod was given to the guards who had been informed earlier today that I was likely to be heading back to the estate in a few hours after picking up a kid for academy reasons that were not disclosed to them. As we headed down the long corridor, we would eventually take a right and head down a smaller one that led right to the training quarters of my clan's estate and where a lot of history had been made over the years from Aikayume Azusa becoming a woman and a true swordswoman to where I had three students take their Genin Exam and pass it with an acceptable score. Unfortunately, I was harmed, or injured, every time that I had gone in here with someone outside of my clan so it was likely that it would occur once again.

But, I would not allow this to dwell on my mind as we walked into the grounds and a guard would close the door behind us as I turned to the boy behind me who had been giving "ohs" and "ahs" more than likely as we had been walking in the estate. After all, our estate had white marble floors and pristine walls while being structured almost as royalty even though we didn't let the money or power go to our heads like some people unfortunately did in their lives that left to their demise. After turning, I allowed a smile to creep onto my face as I put my hands on Shin's shoulders as I addressed him: "Welcome to my home, the Byakko Estate. Now, I am sure that you are wondering why you were yanked from your class earlier. The simplest way to explain it is the Academy believes you are ready to take your graduation exam as you have been excelling in all the classes that you have taken and also they have seen the hours that you have put into training to perfect your skills."

I would allow my hands to leave his shoulders as they came back to my chest and I folded them there as I continued. I would allow myself a quick breather as to not have any issues/ Once I spoke again, something along the lines of the following came out: "Now, I personally do not know if you are ready or not, but I have prepared everything that is necessary for your exam. The question that I must ask you is are you ready to take your graduation exam, Chikamatsu Shin?" I would then wait with a smirk on my face as I waited for a response. I had a feeling that he wouldn't be passing up on this opportunity that was in front of him, but one could never truly know until an actual response was returned.

Still confused as to why this woman came into class and asked or Shin specifically was beyond the knowledge of the boy. He silently followed the woman through the village and out to the Toraono Dojos. The young shinobi had never been to the gates before so this would be his first time seeing such a grand place like this. There were guards walking around so you know that this was a place of high security. Did Shin do something wrong? Was he about to be interrogated by the Medical Branch Chief? Perhaps Aika reported his actions and they dealt with potential threats to their hospital in the most severe manner. This place looked like a mansion that Shin couldn't even had imagined in his dreams let alone believe that it actually existed. His eyes roaming the scenic structure his gawking gaze was interrupted as the woman began to speak to him.

This was her home? If this was the kind of home someone of the Medical Chief position could live in Shin knew what he was gonna do with his life. He was going to become this woman's peer. This woman before him came to tell the boy that he was going to be tested to become a Genin. This was a little unorthodox but he was okay with it. The academy leaders took note of the time and effort he has put into become a shinobi and as a reward he was to be tested before his classmates. He was excited to say the least. A smile returned the expression that the woman made on the face of the boy's as he was filling up with joy. He knew this day would be coming soon and today was finally time for him to prove himself. Two solitary words would slip from the boy's mouth as confidence would fill his heart.
"Bring it."<i></i>

The child had likely been confused and somewhat nervous being dragged from his class where Kazuki's cold, death-like aura radiated the room to this warming and more welcoming area with a smile on my face. It actually was somewhat adorable that he returned my warm, gentle smile with one of his own as he seemed giddy with excitement as joy surfaced on his little face. He was going to be entering a world filled with hardships, struggles, and losses. But, one had to keep those problematic consequences away from their thought process and focus on the good in the world like family, friends, love, and accomplishments. In all honesty, I knew nothing about this boy as I stood here in front of him but he was going to be examined just like all his predecessors had been and his success was going to be from a variety of activities so I could only hope that he was prepared for a long, but hopefully enjoyable examination as he would learn about himself and more importantly about me who descended from the celestial beast known as Byakko.

As we stood there, I would go through a few handseals summoning a scroll in front of him and rolling it out at his feet which included a few questions that I wanted him to answer before we began as I truthfully did not want to be liable for anything that happened to him. After all, I had a class where Miroku Riyota had his ribs scattered due to a combination attack from me that was significantly too strong for him at that young age to withstand. Fortunately, I had medical knowledge and was able to heal him before he had to be rushed to the emergency room and likely been sued by his family. After the scroll was entirely rolled out, I would look up at the child giving him a nod as I spoke to him: "Very well. Let's begin with you answering some questions from me as this will allow me to adjust the exam as I see fit to accommodate what your plans are. Here in this scroll are some questions that were predetermined for all students to answer prior to beginning their graduation exams. Please answer them truthfully and make sure to pay close attention to item number 10 and 11."

I would wait for him to get down on his hands and knees to read over the scroll that was more or less a binding contract and then sign it with his blood. Hopefully, he would accept the terms of the contract and we could begin his exam immediately because there was a lot that he was going to be doing if he wanted to show me that he was ready to be a graduate of the Academy. If it was anything like when I gave Azusa, Mao, and Surutameni their exam, it was going to be an uphill battle for the majority of it for this child.

The scroll contained the following information:
1. Your Full Name:
2. Age:
3. Gender:
4. Height:
5. Weight:
6. Any Known Medical Conditions:
7. Any Allergies:
8. What Does It Mean to Be a Shinobi to You:
9. Do you have a branch that you plan on joining when you graduate:
10. This exam is likely going to be difficult and we can not ensure you that you will come out the same way as you went in. Do you accept that you may be put into high-stress situations and might be injured in the process mentally, physically, emotionally and/or psychologically?

The small boy would watch the woman as I she summoned forth a scroll and unraveled it. He would nod at the Medical Chief as she spoke to him about the exam. Taking the scroll from her the boy's mind would play back all of the skills that he had obtained. The skills in Genjutsu he has obtained from his mother in the form of his Yamanaka blood. The skills he has learned has progressed his mind in ways not normally possible. Sensory Links and casting more illusions than the average Shinobi have proven handy in his days at the academy. His favourite trait from his mother was his ability to overlap the essential illusions allowibg him to further create an altered world.

Independent studies have also proven fruitful as he has learned to master the toxins and poisons he has handcrafted in his mother's greenhouse. Testing and retesting these combinations of ingredients has caused the young boy a rather increased skill in using then competitively against his teammates and has caused their attempts to become lesser than they desired. This poison mastery and resistance has caused his mother to joke around about how Shin had a toxic mind. Not meaning it as an insult as much as expressing his specialization in the fields of toxic manipulation and the ability to cast illusionary Justus with such proficiency.

This proficiency extends pass the usual means as the illusions he casts comes across as second nature. Like a magician with cards the boy has been able to deceive his classmates in the use of his ninja tools. Making them believe he wasn't reaching for med kits or applying poisons to his weapons the boy's sleight of hand skills was only rivaled by his capacity of causing a sensory overload to his opponents mind. Nevertheless he would address the scroll before him. Opening his hand the boy would conjure the quill he normally used for his Doctrine Seal Jutsu to fill out the forms.

The boy would finish writing as sealed the deal in the manner that Shinobi have done for generations, by blood. The tip of his quill would be used to prick his thumb to draw forth blood and allowed him to sign his name in it causing the scroll to be officiated. Handing the scroll back to the Medical Chief the boy would speak.

I am ready for my exams and I believe I am well equipped to become a Genin.

As the boy knelt down to read his contract, my arms would become folded across my chest as I watched the boy conjure up a quill using some of his chakra to begin to fill out the document. Initially, it was an interesting technique as he always had a source to call upon if he needed to write something down or sign something, but this could also be a problematic technique if he was captured and forced to do the bidding of his captors. However, he was still young and naive as many academy-aged children were and one could not blame them for trying to invent new and cool jutsu. Luckily for him, he had an examiner who was not afraid to ask him the hard questions and try to dig into his mind to help teach and guide him into becoming a better shinobi and civilian in the village. Of course, he would also get some softball questions as I was no monster by any means since I was only five foot three.

After he finished signing, I would pick up the scroll and begin reading through it taking mental notes. Everything seemed ordinary for the most part, but what really caught my interest was the fact that he wanted to join the medical branch after he graduated and his response about what being a shinobi meant to him. Not to any surprise, most of the students in the village always wanted to help their village out and be a tool which was really a bad word to use considering every single one of these students could have a bright and fruitful life without feeling like they were forced to do anything because they were shinobi of an established village. Of course, there were laws and rules to follow but these students and the entire village were certainly not tools by any means if one was to ask me. As for his interest in the Medical Branch, I had to admit that caught me off-guard as I read it considering the majority of the students that came through the Academy wanted to do top-secret missions that could get them out of the village or be given a mask so they could be little investigators and track down the bad guys. In other words, someone being interested in the Medical Branch was something quite different and it meant that I would have to gear this exam more towards that branch than I initially thought. Still, he needed to pass the simple things for the exam first and foremost.

It was now time to begin stage one of the exam for the boy as he announced that he was ready to begin and believed that he had the tools necessary to become a Genin. So, we would do just that as I rolled up the scroll and tucked it away somewhere on me. My arms would become unfolded at this time as I nodded at Shin giving him a smile and simply said: "Let's begin then, Chikamatsu Shin. First, tell me about that writing technique that I just saw you using to sign your contract with me." Honestly, this was to break the ice more or less to allow the boy a moment to gloat and be proud of himself until everything crashed down before him as things would only get more difficult from here.

However before he could respond to my first question, I would ask him another one that was something along the lines as the following: "Second, you mentioned that you want to be a tool for the village and help others while being interested in joining the Medical Branch. Is there a particular reason for you wanting to join the branch that I lead?" As I mentioned earlier, it was quite unique to have anyone especially a student be interested in joining the Medical Branch considering we were not necessarily in the action and excitement that the other two branches experienced, but we certainly were in the thankless field for careers as we were simply expected to do our tasks and we often never got any gratitude from our patients because they needed to get back out there to do their "jobs" and to "fight".

However, we couldn't dilly dally being annoyed with people and let it affect us right now since we had the future in front of us as I wasn't getting any younger mentally or physically. It was more likely than not that eventually this child would be taking my spot as Medical Chief when I either retired or had to step down whichever came first. In any case, I would finish my part of question with this: "Last question for now is more of a scenario for you. You are on a mission with two other shinobi from your village and decide to enter a cave to get away from the elements and to rest as you all have been traveling for quite some time. During your stay in the cave, the entrance is sealed off and there are no other ways to escape the cave. You have little to no food or water. However, you are aware that a search party will come after you if you don't return back to your village by the designated time, but if they find you, you will fail your mission. Another twist to consider is you are unaware of how long it will take anyone to find your team. What do you and your team do? Also, why do you do this action?"

Now, it was time to wait for the responses to my questions and proceed from there. I was interested to see what he would come up with honestly as some of the students managed to surprise me with their responses and/or actions in the past so maybe he would be one of those or maybe he was just a run-of-the-mill student and would offer me reasonable responses, but not really leave a lasting impression on me. Who knew since he only had been dragged out of his classroom a little while ago and thrown into this examination.

The woman began asking the child different questions, the first of which was about his little jutsu that he used. This of course peaked his interest so he would start by weaving a few handseals before speaking. "Well, actually your first two questions go hand in hand with one another."<i></i> As he spoke he pressed his hands on the ground. Secret Art: Floral Fields..."<i></i> Whispering the name of the jutsu small plants would begin to grow across the floor, despite the ground being made of white marble small sprigs of varying herbs began to grow in front of the child. Looking back at the woman before making another set of handseals before raising both hands.. "That was half of my Secret Art: Doctrine Seal Jutsu."<i></i> As he spoke one hand emitted chakra that shifted and twirled into a long sheet of paper while the chakra of the other hand began to swirl into a dark black ink which condensed into a quill. "This jutsu keeps track of my thoughts while I work. My mom crafts poisons and my father is a puppeteer so recording their work was important for both of them. I have learned to use it in other manners though."<i></i> As he was speaking again a single handseal was made before he held his hand parallel to one another. A green glow emitted between them. "This is my Secret Art: Floret Forensic Jutsu which allows me to analyse any specimen from the Kingdom of Plantae and determine varying characteristics."<i></i> As he spoke the quill and paper began to float near the woman so she could see what it would write.

Placing his hands on either side of the plant the quill would begin to write the different medicinal uses of each he analyzed. Going through a selection of five or so plants the green began to fade. Reaching up to the floating paper while still sitting on the ground the boy would read over the notes taken. Letting go of the paper it would spiral up into a scroll and the quill would liquefy before wrapping around the paper scroll. The ink turned into runic letters before finishing a seal that locked the notes away. He caught the scroll as it fell from the air. Turning to look at the lady he let out a nervous chuckle. "I am almost done, I promise I will show how they are related."<i></i> Once he tucked the scroll into his pocket he grabbed a couple of herbs and held them in a single hand. "So each of these herb have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal uses."<i></i> With the other hand the made a hand seal which conjured up a larger piece of paper which rested on the ground just in front of him. "Secret Art: Pharmaceutical Seal..."<i></i> Dropping the herbs on the paper it would quickly envelop them and begin spinning and twisting while the paper slowly shrank in size. As it would shrink the boy would begin to speak once more. "Well working with my mom's poisons has caused me to learn these techniques to help create the toxins as well as the antidotes. I have started to expand pass that into other uses of these jutsus so I guess I have just started to lean towards that profession."<i></i> As he spoke the spiraling paper began to separate and turned into six small capsules. Grabbing the capsules the boy would stand up and extend his arm to the Medical Sennin in a gesture to hand off the capsules. "You can analyze these if you would like, but they are probably the holistic equivalent to the most common low level antibiotic you administer in the Omni Prime..."<i></i> The boy's voice dwindled a little bit.

He was teased quite a bit at the academy for doing stuff like this. He couldn't use any of the jutsus he had just performed in combat, and that was what many of his classmates focused on. Thinking of these peers he had to think about the third and final question that he was asked. He took a breath to calm his mind. That was his greatest asset after all. Letting out the deeply held breath he would begin to speak. "Well that is a tricky one to be honest with you. If staying place would suffice we would be fine thanks to my Floral Fields technique as I could create enough vegetation to sustain us until help is arrived, but if that means failure..." His voice trailed off as he closed his eyes. Visualizing the space the boy began to work out different possibilities at a rather fast rate. "If I can't utilize my skills in that manner I would initially rely on the skills of my squadron. If one of the teammates was proficient in the Earth Style they could just cary us through the cavernous walls. If we were trapped by a seal I would see if there was an expert in sealing jutsu to try and uscribe it. If it was a physical blockage perhaps a strategically placed physical blow could clear it out. A Fire Style Jutsuist could help light the cavern to find a second exit. Of course splitting up wouldn't be an issue as I could maintain my Mind Thread Jutsu to prevent losing contact with one another."<i></i> The boy opened his eyes and smirked a little bit. "The possibilities are truly endless at this point as there are too many variables that aren't concrete. I can't give you a definite answer now because the answer could be ever changing as new evidence is discovered to support different end possibilities."<i></i> As the boy spoke it became quite clear he wasn't the average academy student nor the average twelve year old. He was wise beyond his years. Raising both hands into a shrugging manner the boy let out a sigh. In all honesty he would probably fail the mission if he was teamed up with some of the idiots at the academy, but he would wait for the woman to process what he said. The white room was beautiful, his eyes roaming ever so slightly taking in the majesty of this estate.

As I stood there, I could feel a smile surfacing onto my face as this child moved in front of me as it appeared that he was going to showcase me some things instead of speaking about them. It was truthfully a wise decision on his part because one showing their skills instead of talking about them would be more beneficial for them in the company of their peers and their superiors; it also would likely earn him some brownie points since I was notorious for showing my skills when I first joined the village and even before that in my former home, the Hidden Stone Village. But, I first needed to see what he was capable of doing and he was not going to keep me waiting as he began going through some handseals and conjuring up his Secret Art: Floral Fields as a variety of herbs appeared in front of me from seemingly thin air. This was an impressive technique to say the least considering the produce seemed to be edible from where I stood, but I wouldn't have any time to further investigate as the blonde pre-teen continued his show.

His show would continue with the writing technique from earlier that he announced was Secret Art: Doctrine Seal Jutsu. This technique showed his one hand seemingly to form paper while the other hand created dark black ink which condensed into a quill. It was an interesting technique like his previous one, but it seemed like something that someone would use outside of combat when they needed to keep their hands empty as they worked on something. It wasn't necessarily bad, but I wasn't overly impressed with the technique quite yet, but that also might have been because he left little to no time to allow me to analyze and evaluate what he was doing before he jumped into his next technique called Secret Art: Floret Forensic Jutsu. It was after he explained this technique that it all made sense and I would give a simple nod to him to acknowledge that I understood as he went to work analyzing these herbs as his prior jutsu began to write down things that I could clearly see with my own two vixen eyes. It was impressive after I could see what he was capable of doing, but he didn't stop there as he still had more to show me and even had to admit that he was almost done. Externally, I was giving him a welcoming and warm presence, but inside of me, I was starting to get slightly annoyed that he was creating a detour of my questions more and more almost like he wanted me to like him or pass him on sheer personal techniques alone; neither of them were going to happen but he was free to try!

He would finish by showing his Secret Art: Pharmaceutical Seal to me and I would watch as the herbs that he had summoned earlier were now placed on a paper that eloped them as the paper itself shrunk in size. He would go into explaining that while he worked with his mother's poisons, he had learned these techniques to help create toxins as well as antidotes which was mainly his reason for leaning towards the medical branch in the first place. However, a simple display of personal techniques would not be sufficient enough to earn him a position in the branch that I was the head of currently, but it was still a nice asset to have at his disposal and maybe mine in the future. He would drop some capsules into my hands afterwards and explain that they were likely the equivalent of common antibiotics which I didn't need to test now, but likely would do more research at a later time.

His attention would turn to my third and final question then about the situation that I proposed to him and what he would do. As I told the students that I asked before, there was truly no right or wrong answer, but instead I wanted to see what their minds would be able to come up with at such a young age. His explanation, as I listened to it, was long, detailed and also offered different actions depending on a wide variety of variables. However, the way that he ended it would show me that the child knew that the question was open-ended and that there needed to be a significant amount of variables considered before an accurate answer could be given. He showed me with the way that he addressed this that he was ready to move onto the next step even though he had given me a long-winded and lengthy demonstration of his skills to answer my previous two questions.

After all of this had transpired, I would nod again at him with a smile on my face as I addressed him: "Very impressive techniques and explanations that you gave me there, Shin. It seems like you learned a lot while you were in the Academy and outside as well through hard-work and studying. You also addressed my third question in a way that I was not expecting out of someone of your age so kudos on that. But, we must continue on with your exam and I would like you to show me the Transformation, Body Switch, and a clone jutsu along with one other technique of your choosing. Regarding the Body Switch technique, I will throw an object or two at you so you have a way of showing how you properly use the technique."

It was then that I took quite a few steps away from the boy to give him some distance between us so I didn't send him into the ER due to an accident as I drew some kunai before simply saying: "We will begin with the Body Switch technique on the count of three. 3...2...1...go!" The kunai would then be thrown at him and due to my sheer strength, they were not coming in like a light rain smacking someone's face. No, they were coming in like an arrow that was shot or a bullet that left a gun and was in the air. Would Shin dodge the attack or would he become a pin-cushion by the time that I was done with him? We could only wait and find out.

The Chief of the Medical Branch seemed to take in all of the information that the young boy was presenting in his demonstration, even though he cycled through the techniques rather quickly as he practiced them on a regular basis like clock work. His smile was warm as the examiner explained to the boy that the answer he had given about this hypothetical situation was pass that of what was expected, which in all honesty made him feel proud. This moment would soon become irrelevant as the exam had to continue. Four jutsu had o be demonstrated, and due to their nature Shin assumed the last jutsu, the one of his choice, was to be combat oriented as well. The first jutsu he was to perform was that of the Body Switch Jutsu, also known as the Substitution jutsu. This technique was commonly used in conjunction with a large wooden substitute but Shin has learned of other ways to make this technique useful.

A series of handseals were made before the woman would launch her weapon at the boy. As the kunai plummeted into his chest and explosion of flower petals would occur. These petals were from a variety of flowers so the colors would cycle from yellows through oranges and even light pinks. This display was something the boy has used against his teammates as a distraction but the Sunan Elite would most likely see through this and tell that the boy had reappeared behind his proctor. With another series of handseals the boy would surge his chakra throughout his boy before transforming himself into a well known man in the village. Taking on the appearance of a man known as the White Wolf of Sunagakure the boy looked identical to the Senju Lord and Sennin of the village. This technique would last long enough for the Mednin before him to get a good look before it was dispelled; the boy would create another series of handseals to cast the next jutsu on the list he was given orally. The Clone jutsu, which was a slightly more advanced visual genjutsu for the average. Upon completing the seals for this particular jutsu an exact replica of the boy would appear beside him, even though the medical chief would definitely be able to distinguish which was the real student and which one was an illusion. Not only that but as if instantly a second genjutsu was casted, and this was were Shin was different than his peers. If the woman were to look around she would notice that the boy had also casted the False Surroundings illusion. A regular shinobi would not have been able to have their target be under two genjutsu of the same sense but Shin wasn't an ordinary Genjutsuist. The illusion of the forest would remain present for as long as his Basic Clone Jutsu would but Akujin would be able to easily see through this technique as well. "Need I demonstrate more?"<i></i> The boy would ask with a smile on his face.

Another smile would surface onto my face as I watched the child before me use a variation of the Substitution Jutsu with a beautiful array of flower petals that were quite explosive. It would not take me a second thought to realize that he had used a characteristic of the Yamanaka as I had read in some of the old Oracle texts which were people who knew how to use poisons and flowers elegantly. I never actually had seen someone that was capable of these techniques so I knew that I was going to be in for a treat as I heard the blonde behind me. After we finished with his examination, I was likely going to be asking him to meet me at another point in time to talk about his bloodline so I could add material to the texts in the Oracle's Library that the public did have access to, but dig deeper for the secretive textbooks that only people of my Order had access to.

But that was in the future and we had to continue with his examination first as I would turn around to see an individual that looked nearly identical to the Senju Overlord known as Senju Kazuki. However, he was going to lose some points due to the fact that he was unable to emit the same cold, death-like aura that the true Overlord of the Senju was capable of. He should be pleased with himself though because he almost had the transformation perfect barring some weight and height probably; I truly didn't know since I was barely around Kazuki but had a rough idea of what he looked like. So far, Shin had proven that he was capable of two of the three basic jutsu even if he wasn't a perfectionist at them and had to alter the first one slightly from what the students typically did. But, he still had to show his capablity with a different variation of jutsu known as the illusion arts or Genjutsu.

Luckily for me, he wouldn't wait long to continue after properly dispelling his transformation jutsu since it must have been so taxing on his chakra sources. I wouldn't know since it was a basic technique and I could easily do it in my sleep, but I also was older than him and had a lot more experience than he did with it. In any case, he would continue demonstration with his clone jutsu which created an exact replica of himself from head to toe beside him which I could not argue in any way on its quality. But before I could say anything, he would go into his personal jutsu next as the surroundings around us would change and I would give a simple nod as I could see that he had used False Surroundings which was a basic Genjutsu for a veteran, but a good one for someone new to the world to utilize. I would hear the child ask if he needed to show me anymore, but I would simple nod my head as I put one of my hands to my face and released his genjutsu through a technique called Cancel. Now that the illusion aspect of the exam was over and he had passed that easily, there was only one last step to do before he graduated from the Academy.

Before I got to it however, I would respond to the blonde: "Very impressive, Shin. You almost received perfect on the four techniques. These scores have not been seen from anyone that I examined since Aikayume Azusa long ago. But, she is a former apprentice of mine and has moved on to better things..." I would trail off as my mind began to wonder about her and how she was truly doing since that faithful night where she had practically murdered me in cold blood with no remorse about my safety or well-being while the building that we were fighting in was collapsing due to the fire that I caused. She wasn't herself then, but I still had a lot of questions for her and a few other individuals that were there that night according to my daughter, Kyushiko.

In any case though, the show had to go on as I had a soon-to-be graduate of the Academy in front of me and he was likely eager to move on with his life as well. Due to this, I would clear my throat and then proceed to continue: "Apologies for that, Shin. My mind wandered for a moment there, but let's continue. You have only one more trial to pass to pass your exam and graduate from the Academy. This trial is to have a spar here and now, but first, I must ask are you prepared to engage in combat or do you need to do anything before you begin? After all, you were yanked from the Academy and didn't have time to go home first so I wouldn't want you to feel handicapped because of me." I would just have to wait and see what he would say before we proceeded.

The young boy smiled as the woman before him seem pleased with his jutsu performances, even though the young Yamanaka knew that his Genjutsu was no where near strong enough to have had an actual effect of his proctor. Nevertheless, the woman before him told Shin that he had almost scored a perfect on all four techniques. He was quite curious where his marks were though. Did she wish to see the old tried and true substitution and have the boy switch places with a log he had previously prepped? Was his transformation of Kazuki-Sensei off? He knew it wasn't the illusionary aspects of this trial, but he would not ask as many students struggle to pass, let alone score a near perfect score. Letting out a slight sigh of disappointment the boy would then nod at his superior, even though she probably wouldn't notice as her mind must have recalling something tragic for she had to apologize about her mind wandering.

Trial by combat was next, the boy's least favourite style of examinations. He wasn't really the fighting type. All of his strengths go hand in hand with playing a supportive role and his decision to become a medic wasn't unlike the supportive skills in which he already had. He wasn't very good with one versus one style as his genjutsu needed to be hidden to become effective. Though he did know how to protect himself he was style worried about this section of the examinations. He had successfully answered his proctor's questions, he was able to score near perfection on his jutsu mastery, so hopefully even if he doesn't do well in this section he will still pass. Raising a finger to the woman the boy would add, "Hold on, let me check..."<i></i> Patting around his body he would feel for very certain objects. His venom's pouch was on his hip which he assumed he still had fully stocked. He could feel the small machine within in which helped resisting some poisons, and he could feel the parchment which contained the summoning scribe to bring forth his medical gear. Moving his hands to his pockets he could feel an array of seeds which made him smile. The last thing he would do would be to pull out a small capsule, one of similar design he made with his Pharmaceutical Seal Jutsu. Quickly swallowing the capsule a surge of chakra would become noticeable as the capsule had fragmented senzu beans which everyone knew of their great properties. With his chakra fully restored the boy would look at the woman before nodding. "I am ready."<i></i>

It would not be long until the child before me would be ready to go and a smile would appear on my face. He had showcased me his skills as an intellectual and as a potential medic, but it was time to see how well he could do on his own against an opponent. After all, we were all shinobi in this world moreorless and we had to be prepared to fight and die by the sword if need be to protect our homeland and families. I already knew who his opponent was going to be for this fight as I cracked my neck before simply approaching him as my smile turned into a smirk with evil intent behind it. Fortunately for him however, the door to the training quarters would open up as one of our newer guards that we hired for our clan popped her head into the room and apologized after noticing that I was here.

However, I had a brilliant idea that would be more fair for Shin and also allow me to gauge how this guard's training had gone from her superiors who were actual members of the Byakko Clan. She would fight him and I would simply watch over them to see how they both did against one another as one wanted to be a Genin and the other wanted to work for my clan for whatever reason; she never truly gave her intention, but I assumed it was because we were a well-known clan in the village and we had a lot of wealth. Thus, I would simply state to her: "Please come in as I want you to fight this child. He is taking his graduation exam and he needs someone closer to his skill level for me to truly engage if he is ready or not. This will also allow me to see how your training to become a guard went and see if you are truly ready to guard the Byakko Clan with your life."
rsz_1berserkerpct28kiyohimepct29full1925029.jpg

Of course, this little petite guard would walk in and I could tell that she was nervous as she stood opposite of Shin with a look of anxiousness on her face as she was going to be evaluated here and now by the "husband" of the head of Byakko Clan. I would have been nervous as well if I was in her position, but she had managed to pass the Byakko guard training regiment and thus, she had some skills at the very least. There was no doubt in my mind that she would be capable of handling herself in this fight against this blonde-haired Yamanaka, but she would definitely have to be weary of his genjutsu and possibly poisons and projectile techniques if the records on this bloodline were true; either way, I would get a firsthand account of one of them in combat which would benefit not just me but him and his opponent as well.

After my little guard was ready, I would look at Shin and simple state: "This is a one on one fight that will last until one of you gives up or is knocked out. There are no restrictions to what you may use so feel free to use whatever is at your disposal. Show me, Byakko Kyuji, what you are both capable of doing and make Suna proud! Begin!" As soon as I finished this little introduction, if you want to call it that, I would walk to the side and allow them to begin. My petite little Byakko guard would give a slight bow and simply say: "Good luck to you. I will try to not hurt you too much. But, I want to make Kyuji proud of me!"

The young boy let out a sigh. It was time for the combative section of examination. For a second he thought his sparring partner was going to be the woman before him but just st that time a door opened up. Kyuji seemed to have a change of plans as he called out to a girl and said that she would be fighting the boy. Taking a hard swallow the boy's hands tremmored slightly with his anxiety about all of this. As she approached the young boy could realize that she wasn't much older than him, if at all, but apparently she has passed the required training to be deemed a guard of this estate so she had to have some skill.

Standing across from each other the young Yamanaka was anxious and nervous. He didn't know what to expect and he absolutely hated fighting. He believed most situations could be settled without violence or death, which is kinda the opposite of what he had been studying at the academy. He would raise two fingers to his chest before bowing to his opponent. "Best of luck to us both then!" the nervous smile which followed wasn't very convincing.

((Short post is short... Actions posted and ready for the next round!))

And so It began. The boy's unique mind allows him a mastery of the genjutsu style of the ninja arts, so before the battle even began he was able to catch her within one of his illusions. Lethargy was the name of this jutsu and it would cast a spell of sleepiness over this guard, but unlike some academy students she didn't seem to be affected too intensely as she was able to summon two pistols out of thin air. The boy's electrifying mind was ever working as he was able to see her first move coming. With a quickly flip backwards he was nearly able to dodge the full attack, only taking a small hit on his side. Landing on on his feet the young Yamanaka slammed his fists onto the ground he would slowly rise up as a large man made of stone appeared below him. This Rock Golem was one of Shin's favourite jutsus as it could provide him with the support he needed while going into combat.

Apparently this heightened location made him an easy target as two shots from the gun hit him directly into the collarbone pushing him off of the golem and landing on his back. Coughing a little bit as the wind was knocked out from his lung the boy would shift his weight to get back up onto his feet. Extending his right hand the boy caused a surge of chakra towards the Byakko Guard causing a searing pain in her arms as he made her believe that the ligaments in them were getting ripped and torn. As he took to his feet and regained his balance the Rock Golem was already heading into action. With a massive swing from it's arm it made direct contact to the woman in an attempt to launch her backwards. Shin slowly began to realize that this guard was stronger than him. The Medical Chief was probably aware of this but Shin needed to prove that he had the skills required to graduate from the Student Academy. Letting out a sigh Shin hated to combat.

With an exhale the world would change. Before the guard had a chance to respond to the attack of the Golem Shin had already casted the False Surroundings Jutsu. This was a jutsu he had already shown his proctor but it was a good one. The marbled room instantly turned into a dessert. everywhere this young guard would look all she could see was purpley-pink sands and dunes taller than the Kazekage's Tower. The sky was a dark red as bright bolts of neon green lightning would hit the ground around them. Shin's expertise was finally starting to show, but it wasn't before long that she was able to fire off a Bounce Shot from her two hand guns. Connecting with Shin's thigh and hip caused him to spin as he fell towards the ground. Shifting his weight the boy landed on a hand and cartwheeled back to his feet.

Reqaining his balance the boy would place his hands in the Bird Handseal which would cause everything the guard to see to become blurry. The Yamanaka Clan was famous for their ability to stack Genjutsu within a single sense. The colors of the landscape would begin to shift into a kaleidoscope for the young guard but that didn't seem to stop her from landing her attacks. An incoming spray of shots came in but Shin was quick enough to cross his arms in from of him to catch most of the damage away from his body. Pulling his arm out to his side a purple liquid would ooze from his pouch as it sharpened into a javelin sized needle. Clasping his hands together before him the giant needle launched at his target with tremendous speeds and would pierce her in a critical part of her body. "A little more..."<i></i> Shin reached out and appeared to grab he air in front of him. As his grip strengthened it would appear that his fingers were causing cracks in reality to appear, much like fractures in glass. As the boy twisted his hands these fractures also appeared on the girl's arms before ultimately shattering into shards as he ripped this cracked level of reality off of her. Casusing sensation similar to breaking a limb the pain from this attack was stronger than anything he had sent he way yet. All the while the slow golem was attempting and failing to hit his target, but that was okay as he was cute.

Notes: For not being heavily invested in the b-system, you did a great job, Shin!

This fight had been an intriguing one to say the least for me as I watched from the sidelines as my guard, whose name I did not know yet, was firing bullets out of her revolvers at a quick pace and managing to hit her marks against her opponent. Now, I had to admit that Shin was a strong-willed individual as he continually was nailed with bullets that pierced his skin and one could see him wincing in pain. Yet, he continued to push on through the pain even though, I knew he was trying to show a facade as he continued on. Unfortunately for him, the guard would get into a position that was ideal for a markswoman like herself and shoot a bullet right into Shin's chest that would have him fall backwards from the impact and collapse on my pristine white marble floors.

Seeing the student fall, I would put a hand up to motion to the guard to stop the fight for now as I walked over to the blonde haired kid and checked him. He was definitely out cold, but his vitals were still in the reasonable range that I did not need to worry about him at all. Of course, the adrenaline that he had been feeling was wearing off since he was knocked out as his heart rate and breathing returned to their normal rates. I smiled at him as he laid there peacefully as I conjured up a Medical Assistant who would begin to handle him using some of the common medical techniques known to a majority of the village like Mystical Hand since his injuries were not severe. Now, he would obviously be a little achy the next few days, but he was not in any immediate harm.

As the assistant continued, I would walk over to my guard who had taken a knee for possibly a multitude of reasons. My hand would go on her shoulder as she looked up at me and a simple smiled and said: "You have proven to me that you are capable of protecting my home and successfully have completed your training. You are dismissed if you wish to go." However, she would not move at all as she rose from her position and stated to me: "Lord Kyuji, I am happy that I pleased you, but I must admit that he was no slouch as he was playing mind tricks on me and if I wouldn't have been aware of this, he probably would've defeated me. He also managed to land a blow to me that felt like a snakebite and I feel like my vision is getting worse as I stand here."

This was quite interesting. I thought that I had seen him playing around with something like a poison earlier in the fight, but it did appear that my assumption was correct. However, I did not know what it was and did not want to handle it until I had some information from Chikamatsu Shin since one wrong move could jeopardize the bright future of this young Byakko guard.

The incoming bullets landed hard against the boy's chest causing severe pain as he fell backwards, but instead of hitting the ground he could feel himself fall pass where the marble floors should have been. Everything closed in around him as he could see the Medical chief walk towards him, though the view itself was distancing itself. As his field of vision closed in and became black the young Yamanaka could feel the sensation of air pushing beside him. In this blank nothingness the boy was still able to tell the directions distinguishing up from down and left from right. He could feel himself fall faster and faster as the wind below him seemed to hiss louder and louder as it grazed across his ears. The boy needed to see what was below him, attempting to move his weight he was able to flip to face downwards as the air pressure pushed against his face and wounded body. The hissing grew louder as the darkness slowly began to fade into light. He was starting to be able to see once again.

Anger, it was the first thing that came to mind as he would be able to see what was surrounding him once again. The walls of the hole he was falling through were a deep crimson. A shade of red so dark it made the boy’s skin crawl. Trying to once again orient himself the boy was trying to see any distinguishing features but the redness seemed to be infinite as that’s all he could see, but slowly by slowly the hissing that scraped his ears would start to become more distinguishable. Soft at first but the boy could hear the sound of a young girl screaming. Shocked the boy would try to hone in on the screams but all he could tell was that it was coming from below. The screams sounded familiar yet foreign all at the same time. His heart began to flutter as he began to fear what was happening, until the walls circling around his faded.

He was now falling in a large cavern which looked to be made of stone. Small lights seemed to be stringed across the rocky walls which emitted a soft white haze to this otherwise red void. Below him he could see what appeared to be a tiled floor approach at a quick rate. Black and white alternating spaces the boy could see the drastic contrast while at the same time appreciating the balance of the two polar opposites. Crossing his arms as the floor closed on him at a quick rate Shin could feel his body slow down rapidly yet gracefully as his toes would softly make contact on the ground. Opening his once closed eyes and peering over his arms the boy began to look around. “Hello?” Nothing. The room was empty but for some reason he didn’t feel alone.

Dropping his arms to his side the boy stood there. In this red void on top of these tiles he was alone, but he knew that this couldn’t be real. Weaving a few handsigns to cast the jutsu Cancel the boy would try and break free of this illusion but alas the young Yamnaka would not be successful. Raising an eyebrow the boy let out a sigh. Turning to see what was around him he was shocked to see a girl around his age standing before him. Taken a back the boy fell to his rear as she had surprised him much more than he was anticipating. “oh..”<i></i> A slip of breath came from between his lips as he hit the ground. The girl laughed before stepping towards him. “Be careful Shin.”<i></i>

Getting back to his feet the boy would look confused as he would respond. “How do you know my name?”<i></i> She giggled once again before reaching out and pointing at the boy’s chest. “I am you.”<i></i> Her laughter deepened as she reached out and grabbed the boy’s collar. “I am you.”<i></i> She repeated, this time in a deeper tone of voice and more seriously. “What do you mean?”<i></i> Shin didn’t know who she was or how he got here but he knew that he had to get out from here. “I am you!”<i></i> The girl let out with a scream as she pulled Shin closer to her with her right hand pushing his chest with her left. The petite hand of this strange girl seemed to pass straight through him but he could still feel the pressure on his chest. Like the sensation of having the wind knocked out of you Shin gasped for air as he was pushed out of his own body. His mind and consciousness was no longer within his own body and he could see that his frame had gone limp. This was a feat that any skilled Yamanaka could perform during their Mind Transference Jutsu but Shin didn’t use that technique. He also knew that a Yamanaka could expel the consciousness of another from their own body with this same jutsu, perhaps this girl was a fellow Yamanaka.

“I AM YOU!”<i></i> Her voice echoed through the cavern as screamed at the boy. Her hand, which was inside of the boy’s chest, seemed to glow an eerie red that crept up her arm, this was the Name of the Rose jutsu his mother had shown him before. The user of the technique would turn their body into Chakra and could merge completely with their target, perhaps that was what was happening here, but the only issue the boy could think of was that chakra was emitted in a soft blue color and this was a deep red. Her body was completely enveloped by Shin’s and with this merging complete she slowly turned around to look at the boy lying on the ground. “I am you…” <i></i>

A single blink, that’s all it took to reappear in the Byakko Estate’s Dojo. He appeared to be standing as he view of the area wasn’t that of someone on the floor, and he didn’t feel any pain from the fight. Looking around he caught a glimpse of his hand and what was going on. A soft chakra blue was the glow being emitted by his almost transparent hand. He still wasn’t in his body, that girl was still inside of him. She was now Shin. Looking around quickly Shin was able to find his body not too far from where he was standing. She was in there as the boy could see the same red aura encasing his body while everyone else in the room had a shadowy aura similar to what he had. Walking towards his own flesh Shin let out a scream before making direct contact with his temple, pushing her out from within his body and flying away from the force of his attack. “I don’t know who you are but this is my body. You can’t have it.”<i></i>

Quickly landing on her feet the girl who stood before him was wearing the same clothes as Shin, had the same transparent appearance, but in contrast she emitted an aura of pure hatred and anger. Letting out a blood curdling scream the girl would dart at the boy with chakra scalpels around her hands. The blades were sharp and her control of them was precise. Slashing at his shadowy body this persona of wrath was screaming and speaking incoherently. All he could understand were the words “I am you”<i></i> but he didn’t know what she was meaning. Regardless the boy would have to fight back. The boy raised his hands summoning vines from the earth below that wrapped around her body, binding her into that single location before he clapped his hands together in front of his chest causing paper and black ink to envelop her and the vines. The ink quickly formed the scribed ruins that he commonly used with his Doctrine Seal as well as his Pharmaceutical Seal. Letting out a sigh the boy would look over to his knocked out body that was being attended to by a clone of the Medical Chief. Did Kyuji not see the events that transpired? Was this not real? Not knowing the truth the boy would make his way to his body before touching his own head.

Slowly opening his own eyes the boy would see the Medical Assistant using jutsu to help Shin recover from the blows. He was okay, but he was probably going to be out of commission for a few days when it came to physical alterations. His eyes slowly began to focus once again when he heard the Byakko Guard speak of a snake bite and that her vision was going out. Forcing himself to his feet the young boy would stumble back to the ground before speaking. “Please, I can help you.”<i></i> Pushing up off of the ground the boy would remain in a seated position as he knew his legs weren’t as reliable as he first thought. Turning his gaze to where he had sealed the savage girl the boy would speak. “Did you see her? She tried to take me away.”<i></i> Of course none of this would make sense to the two in the room with him.

What Shin was unaware of was that this battle was all done in his own psyche. The strain caused to his body and mind triggered the upbringing of something that had lain dormant in his soul for years. This darker and primitive shadow that he saw was a part of him since before birth. Little did Shin know that the soul of his deceased sister had latched onto his own when she died in the womb many years ago. Shin’s proficiency in Genjutsu caused his mind to delve deep down into his own psyche where he found her and accidently allowed her soul to be awakened. These next few months would be vital as the boy would soon to come to realize that though they were to be twins they are nothing alike.

As I stood there, my hand would go to my chin as I began to go through my library of knowledge internally trying to discover what exactly had occurred to my guard. It was likely that she had been poisoned by the boy which was not a surprise based on his background of being a Yamanaka. However, I did not have all the knowledge in the world so if that was truly the case, it was going to be quite difficult for me to properly heal her without possibly doing permanent damage in the process. Due to this, we had to bank on the blonde haired boy waking up and thankfully he was stirring as my medical assistant continued to work on him by healing minor bruises, scrapes and what not; the personal injuries like confident and pride would have to be healed naturally by himself however, but he truly should be proud of himself for how well he did in the Academy, his demonstrations, and even today!

His stirring would continue for a few minutes and there was a time or two where his body seemed to be thrashing during the recovery which was odd, but not completely unheard of. Eventually though, he would wake up and must've heard our conversation because he wanted to help. Sadly though, he tried to stand up and would stumble back to the ground with a small hint of defeat on his face as it appeared his body must've taken more of a beating than anyone of us thought. This was also likely one of his first real fights so his body was not accustomed to this at all which is why he was struggling to really move effective. However, he was awake and I could get to the bottom of what was going on with my guard finally, but before that, he would ask us both if we saw "her" as someone had tried to take him away. Now, obviously we both did not know what he was talking about at all as we looked at one another with a look of confusion before turning to him and simply shaking our heads. It was possibly that he was hallucinating, but he didn't seem to be under anything and his body overall appeared normal so maybe he had just been imaginining something? I truly did not know.

After a few moments of awkward silence, I would clear my throat and look down at the boy with a smile as I spoke: "I am glad that you are awake, Shin. You took quite a bump as you fell and I wasn't sure if you were going to be okay or not. However, we have a little bit of a problem right now as my guard here is going blind slowly and you mentioned that you can help us. Before you do, I would like to ask what exactly did you do to her? I assume it is a poison, but which one did you use?" As I finished speaking, I would look at my guard and give her a motion to sit down in front of him facing him as I followed up with a simple little thought: "Regardless, you want to help so here is your opportunity to do so. She is sitting right in front of you so you do not have to struggle to tend to her, I look forward to seeing what you do!" After I finished, I would tilt my head to the side slightly and continue to give a warm smile as I waited to hear his response to my question and see what he could do. As I did though, I would stop using chakra with my medical assistant and so it poofed away in some smoke.

Staring at the sealed tree before looking back to the Medical Chief and her guard Shin was extremely confused, how did they not see her, but once he gazed upon Byakko Kyuji and her guard once more he would see forms. Like ethereal shadows mimicking the exact position the two were in and mirroring all of their movements perfectly. It was almost as if the Yamanaka was experiencing doubled vision but he knew that this wasn't the same as that as these shadows did not appear to be the same form as their owners. A slight look of fear took over the boy's expression as he once again stared at the tree. He could feel her. He could sense her urge to once again come to lite and try and take the boy's soul. He wasn't sure what this dark persona wanted but he knew better than to let her win. Once again hearing the proctor's voice snapped Shin out of this paranoia and back to the situation at hand.

"Not exactly, I was able to land a blow using a toxic venom commonly referred to as Twilight Venom. It's nothing permanent, but the effects can be intimidating."<i></i> As the boy spoke he weaved a few sets of handseals which were commonly used with the wind element and the fire element before finally ending in the Tori-Seal. This change in nature was also refereed to as the Poison Style. "Ninja Art: Poison Extraction..."<i></i> Visible chakra manifested from the boy and enveloped the guard before him. Sinking into her system it would appear to be absorbed by her chakra network. Before much longer the manifested chakra was gone and Shin shifted his hands to the Hitsuji-Seal which caused a black gas to form that expelled from her mouth. This gas was coated with chakra causing it to appear very bubble like. As the bubble began to drift away Shin would point a single finger at it, sending out a chakra thread to grab it and pull it towards him. His free hand made a half seal which summoned black ink to form his Pharmaceutical Seal on the bubble shrinking it down and hardening it to deep purple marble. Finally landing in his hand Shin held it up as if offering it to the Medical Chief, if denied Shin would simply put the poison back into his poison pouch which contained a plethora of these small marbles.

"Her vision should return shortly and at this potency there shouldn't be any lasting effects or damages."<i></i> His eyes shifted back to where the sealed tree would have been. Much to his surprise this tree was gone. As if an illusion he had casted upon himself he could no longer see the seal where he had entombed the girl be he could still feel her presence. As if she was now sleeping in his mind the boy would look at his hand. It was different than that of the two women he was with for he did not have the shadowy doppelganger. "Kyuji-sama, what do you know about Shadows?<i></i> With a concerned look he would look over to the Medical chief before continuing to speak. Raising a finger to point just over her shoulder he would continue. "I see something just there..."<i></i> Closing his eyes the image of the shadowy doppelgangers would briefly appear for Kyuji to see, as if a memory that should could vaguely remember only recognizing the shapes but not the feelings associated with the memory.
