Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

A letter, sent by the mailman, would arrive at two doors at the same time. One, was the residence of an icy cool, Ikko. The other was the sneaky shadow sloth, Minako. The person who delivered would be in a rush, giving a knock before dropping off the scroll and darting in a cloud of hurried smoke. Before they unrolled the scroll they would seal the Kage seal meaning one thing, ‘Duty.’

The information inside read as followed:

“Name: to punch a bear
Type: team modded
Participants: Minako[leader], Ikko
Description: Bears are running rampant in the forest, engage them and calm their souls, with fists.

Excessive force is allowed if need be. Stay in your lane, retreat if their numbers increase and become to much. Report to the office to collect your wages afterward. Also, get me a hamburger.”

The ancient forest was their destination. Dispersing bears and stopping their rampage was the objective. Dinner time was clock out time, and they had to make a delivery.

Deep in the ancient forest, a group of scattered bears numbering up to sixteen ran rampant among the land. Their strength increased by a failed science experiment of a mad man didn’t help. He also increased their intelligence, the bears now having the mind of an adolescent child. They were somewhat smart, with inhuman strength, and the the insatiable hunger of a Wendigo. Whatever that is.

The forest was in uproar, the sounds of the bears growling and animals cowering. Birds flicked the skies searching for a safe place to land but to no avail. The bears would run so fast they couldn’t stop and just collide with a tree, knocking down the home of many critters, though this was very seldom since there was much more game fleeing from the group. Some of the bears even went so far to start dueling each other over territory.

Minako was going to have a rather nice day today, or at least, she thought she was. When she was just about to chill and be lazy like she always wanted to be 85% of the time, a knock boomed the residence halls. Not believing what she just heard, she groaned slightly and got up from the bed she was currently chilling in. No rest for the wicked, as the others usually say.

Heading out of her room, the sloth walked down the stairs in a hurry, the quicker she goes to the door and finish whatever business this person has, then the quicker she can go and rest, which sounded like a fantastic idea to the blonde.

Finally, the female reached the door and opened it ungracefully after bumping into her father and saying good afternoon to him, but she was very confused… There was nobody there, that was until she looked down onto the floor and as Minako picked it up, she spotted the kage seal.

“Shit… Now I can’t chill!” The blonde shook her head and bit her lower lip as she finally unraveled the scroll with a few complaints to her name. That was until she saw the mission briefing and grinned. “Dang, this is right up Ikko’s street! Father, I need to go now. I got some bears to contain. Don’t worry though, I will come home safe.” She announced as she kissed his cheek goodbye and ran off like the shinobi she well and truly was.

In the forest, she heard the bears going completely mad. The birds weren’t tweeting out their happy song, the animals seemed to be fleeing to god knows where. This wasn’t going to do anything good to neither herself nor Ikko for whenever he arrived. She hoped that he could make his way out fine, actually. She wasn’t sure if he wanted to miss out on anything that she punched, so she decided to keep an eye on the bears until Ikko arrived. She just hoped that the bears won’t go even more rampant while she waited, otherwise she may have to just punch them all herself.

“I hope Ikko recognises me, even if I do look different…” She mumbled, remembering that her body has cosmetically changed as of late after going to sleep one night, which caused the change. “If he doesn’t, then I will have to prove to him somehow…”

"MINAKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

As soon as the words professing her concern over convincing the small boy of her identity left her lips, she had her answer. A blue blur tore through the trees and straight for her. Launching himself in the air, Ikko careened violently toward Minako's back and attempted to embrace her in a tackle of a hug. Given her position in a tree, confirmed via the external powers that be, should Ikko connect with his hug, the boy would plow right through her and knock both of them out of the trees and on to the grass below them with Ikko landing on top of her in his jovial embrace. Which...coincidentally happened to be where the bears were. Ninja.

Ikko was initially nonplussed by the addition to his dormitory mail slot. He, for starters, typically didn't get mail, both because he didn't know many people and because the people who DID know him knew that written words were not the preferred method of communication. Ikko had, tentatively, opened the envelope and attempted to read the contents and, for the most part, he had to say he was rather successful, probably. He understood the gist of it at least, he had finally gotten a mission! And the mission was to punch bears! Of course, the mission used words like "contain" and "suppress" and other words that weren't "Punch Bears," but Ikko knew that was just because professional people and documents got smacked if they had any fun. Though the part about Ham Boogers had confused him, it did say "Bear" and not "Boar" right? Maybe he had some pigs to punch too. This got better and better! As a result of the boys excitable, and audible, yelling and whooping as he sprinted off to the designated mission zone, half the village now knew that he had an assignment to punch the daylights out of the local ursine population. Ninja

As a result, here we are, with Ikko attempting to tackle Minako out of her hiding space with the most epic of hugs. After excavating his face out of either the ground or Minako's pectoralis, Ikko turned his attention to her face, a momentarily puzzled look on his face. It did not take him long though to realize what must have happened, the only logical explanation really.

"Hey, you took your mask off. Curing the halitosis problem makes you look really pretty."

Of course, the other physical transformations she seemed to undertake seemed to go completely over Ikko's head and his words were phrased very matter of factly, as if were simply talking and not simultaneously complimenting her appearance and insulting her oral hygiene. In fact he barely seemed to notice she changed at all. She was Minako, in a world where people could indiscriminately "transform" to look like basically whatever they wanted, physical appearances were pretty irrelevant. Ikko leaned back and looked around at their new surroundings, either sitting on the ground or on Minako's stomach and noticed his lifelong ambition.

"Minako Minako Minako...BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He rolled off of her and squared himself up to the bears near her, a wild grin on his face.

"I'ma punch it."

You know, like a Ninja.

The commotion the two caused with their introductions was just enough trigger an interest for some bears. Some nearby heard the sounds and looked up to the sky, ears twitching in response. Few would even do so much as to rise on their hind feet and give an roar, as if a rally call. Seen a group of four rounded lead by a standing bear, growling at the coalition. The others responded with more invigorating roars before they took off running. And boy do bears run fast at full speed!

The chaos the other bears were commencing wasn’t to go unnoticed either. For before the duo could even encounter the oncoming group on a hunt, a loud snapping sound was heard. It was the sound of a tree snapping in half from the brunt of bull rush from a frantic bear. If the two would look to see, they would find birds and small furry critters fleeing their fallen home with haste.

To make matters worst, a small family traveling by bikes and and a wagon were running away from the madness. They carried a bunch of knitted bags stuffed with plants and herbs from that Yamanaka greenhouse in the ancient forest. They were screaming and saw hope when they caught sight of Shinobi. They attempted to wave them down as they running toward the Shinobi, but unsuspecting to the collapsing tree seeking to fall upon them.

A middle aged woman and two adolescent children called out for the Shinobi. While an oncoming horde of bears was seeking to overcome the duo. The villages borders into the city was just jog back following the pathway. In the distance the sound of rallying roars and more cries from civilians filled the air breaking the silence.

The words of Ikko completely shocked the younger Fujiwara. There he was, in the air before even daring to embrace her in an excited manner. With this, the both of them fell onto the ground, luckily, Ikko was perfectly protected thanks to Minako mainly landing on her back, with her arms embracing the young boy like a mother would to her child. She was not going to lie, this really hurt her, but she was glad that she Ikko was perfectly okay.

After sorting themselves out, Ikko looked to her confused and that was when Minako got a bit worried. This guy was unpredictable and he was known to be like that for a reason. Just as she thought that he wasn’t going to say anything stupid, he managed it by mentioning that curing her bad breath problem made her look really pretty.

“Ikko, sweetie, as much as I would love to take that as a compliment, I can’t.” She bit her lower lip as she then ran two of her fingers over the scars she gained from that time from the bullies. Maybe Ikko will learn as he grows up that he just cannot say that to people in the manner that he just done.

The whole conversation changed though once Ikko spotted the bears. He called for Minako’s attention and stated that he would punch it. Meanwhile, a rather large snapping sound could be heard and it didn’t take long for a humongous tree to make them both targets for their crushing exercise. This went unnoticed to Minako until someone pointed it out to her, and it caused Minako to rush towards Ikko, wrap him in her protective embrace once more and thrown them both out the way, just in time for the tree to collapse on the both of them, and instead collapsed on the bear that Ikko wanted to punch.

On top of Ikko, was the protective Minako, who looked at Ikko sternly before standing up and sorted herself out clothing wise.

“You okay??”

Ikko had completely ignored her self-conscious reproach to his compliments, too many things were happening and in that moment, the situation suddenly became far less about decking a bear in the schnoze and became much more about protecting the people who came to the area without the proper bear decking repertoire. Hearing the civilians screaming in the background had almost complete captured Ikko's attention to the point where he did not notice the collapsing tree. The bulk of cellulose was about to crush the poor boy before Minako tackled him and herself out of the way. He was vaguely aware that the Ursine incursion had suffered the first casualty, but it was not and immediately pressing issue for him. Before Minako had even finished getting off of him, Ikko's right hand was already whirling through motions. It wasn't just one bear that was accosting them and waves of them were going to keep coming while Minako fixed her clothes. As she had finished getting to her feet, Ikko formed the last seal and slapped his palm off the ground. As soon as he made contact, the ground around them began to shift.

"Hyouton: Crystalize!"

The ground, splayed out in a cone before them, was quickly covered in a thick sheet of ice, passing over the felled bear and making the ground itself a travel hazard for the encroaching bears. Thankfully, regionally, these weren't the bears that were evolved to properly handle frozen surfaces so his tactic should prove a little more effective than it might have against their more translucent cousins. Ikko pushed himself to his feet and tore off toward the sounds of the villager's screams. Calling back over his shoulder to Minako. The first words he said should have been "Thank you for saving me" or "You're my hero" or "Yay Minako lookit you go." Instead, the words that came out were considerably less...gracious.

"I gotta go make sure they don't get eaten by bears. Try to finish those ones off and, um, don't slip on the ice."

With that, Ikko finished tearing off through the trees, leaving Minako to clean up the remaining and hopefully off balance bears in the area, Ikko had to quickly get to the other villagers before they were felled, the small boy darting through the trees and undergrowth toward the sounds of the bears. He wasn't really sure what he was going to find, if anything, but he was sure that he was going to punch it in the face, or he was going to shove an icicle down their throat...or punch them down the throat. Ikko wasn't especially particular about the manner in which he projected that protection. Ikko broke through the trees to where the villagers had shrieked, prepared to handle whatever came his way, probably...maybe.

The two were able to dodge the falling tree. Luckily for them it managed to squash a bear, drawing first blood. Minako’s quick reaction paid off as a useful trait of any ninja. In turn, Ikko’s initiative to recreate the playing field into slippery frozen water also hindered the advance of the bears. Their claws touched the frozen surface and slid across falling onto their bellies spinning around uncontrollably until colliding into the capsized tree. The family had to maneuver around the ice and did so in the nick of time. They waved down the Shinobi while not relenting on the pedals for the slightest second. The screamed out as they rode passed them before Ikko took off.

“Thanks guys!!!”

Ikko has decided for himself to leave the protective care of Minako and the buddy system and delve into the madness alone. It resulted with Minako fending for herself on an icy rink with a total of five bears in her vicinity.

Ikko POV:

As Ikko delved into the forest responding to the screams he’d notice the ravaged forest. Trees with thick scars, most likely from the claws or maybe the bashing of a bear. Large prints made easy pathways to track as well as the consistent sounds of shrieks. It wouldn’t take long for Ikko to find the correct direction for his destination. Once there he’d be awakened to the madness which awaited. A total of, twelve people and six bears. The people were all on bikes circling around like a frantic ant pile on the brink of destruction.

Minako POV:

The bears would begin to rise and shake off the pain from crashing into the tree. Once their vision had a chance to clear up and they were focused once more, they saw only Minako and lowered themselves onto the ice. They used their claws to dig into the ice lightly, this gave them good initial grip to leap, but would not sustain them upon landing. This field forced the bears to coordinate their attacks, lest they just slip and slide and find no food for their bellies or fun for their entertainment. They lined up from behind the tree and all leapt in unison. They landed upon the tree, using that as a stepping stone to jump once more and close the gap between them and the young Fujiwara.

How rude of Ikko to even say that without a thank you attached, even leaving her on her own accord after he warned her about the flooring. This kind of annoyed her, but at the same time, she could also see why he was going off… he wanted to do his bit, and for that, she can’t really blame him. Minako remembered when she used to be like that back at the academy, back when she wasn’t supremely lazy. She grinned lightly as she then looked at her surroundings before showing off Cinderella, her archery weapon that had some history attached to it.

Suddenly, everything became a bit of a shitstorm, the bears wanted to pounce on the young woman, and she sent herself into action the moment they jumped on the log, she walked backwards slightly to keep some sort of distance between her and the bears before she tilted her head in a cocky manner. It was time to get her aiming game on, probably shoot them but not severely… whatever happens, she just hope it worked.

Pulling her bowstring back further than usual, she aimed at one of the bears before she fired. It hit one of the bears as they tried to pounce on her, and they landed halfway through their pounce and they landed straight on the ice right in front of Minako… that was when she had an idea… what if she tamed this beast for herself and contained them that way?? It was probably least violent way, and that way it might even calm the bears down.

With a small grin applied to her facial features, Minako walked over to the bear and patted it before climbing onto it and mounting it as if she was a bear rider or something. She then inhaled quickly before exhaling in order to melt the ice… although it… didn’t work.

“I am so screwed.” Minako mumbled as she looked behind her to see the hungry bears probably deciding who should take the initiative. That was when the bear that she was riding seemed to be moving once more, they picked themselves up which sent Minako high into the air before she found herself plopped down on the fluffy creature once more. This. Was. Not. Going. To. End. Well.

Ikko felt many things in a very brief time span and it was not exactly something that he had really experienced before. Ikko, who had typically had an emotional depth best described as "a thimble," usually only had a couple settings. He had angry, happy, bouncy, Minako, and excited. He had felt all of those seemingly at once and a new emotion surfaced as well, guilty. Those people were in danger, bears were a menace, and he should not be enjoying this nearly as much as he was. But he was so very, very much enjoying it. The boy drove through the bushes and came face to face with a rather dreadful scene before him. Twelve humans, scurrying along on various devices not near quick enough to outrun a determined bear, and a group of especially nasty looking ursines. Ikko nearly giggled in excitement.

He performed a familiar jutsu, forming the seals he had just performed moments prior however, this time the Crystallize took on an interesting property. Instead of arraying a wide field of ice before him, the ice was centralized around Ikko's feet and on those feet, hyper sharp ice formed what looked very much like skates. Beaming, Ikko shot even faster toward the bears, gaining ground before cutting them off, blurring past the group of bears as they closed on the people, nothing but a gray distortion drawing away their attention as a sheet of ice blazed in his wake. Ikko, circling around, closed in. The boy pulled two kunai out of his pack as he darted toward the first bear and in one quick motion, he drove one of the weapons straight through the roof of one of the creature's mouth. Not wanting to linger though, Ikko kicked off the furry mass and back onto his ice skates as one of the creature's crept up behind him, with his now free hand, Ikko formed a quick seal and as the monster's massive paw crashed down toward him, it slammed straight in to a large, icy shield, a shield that looked suspiciously like a massive, sturdy, snowflake. Ikko, deftly, parried away the monster with his snowflake shield before turning it on its side and sending it straight into the monster's flank, looking to punch straight through it and remove another bear from play.

Ikko did not stick around to see how effective his rebuttal had been however, as not long after it had been issued he had already begun careening toward another opponent. A bear had bounded toward him, rearing back on his hind legs in an attempt to squash him but had allowed Ikko enough room to use his small frame to dart quickly right under the creature's legs, but as soon as he did another had moved to head him off. Ikko, forming one more seal, allowed a large spear of ice to form in his hand. Ikko tossed the kunai straight for the bear, expecting it to be little more than a distraction, as he formed his icy weapon. Dodging the incoming attack, Ikko used the spear to pierce through and pin the monsters paw to the earth. Using the spear to vault himself in the air, Ikko spun once for rotational force before he came crashing back down on the bear, driving his fist straight through its crown and knocking it rather savagely straight into the ground with a sickening crunch.

Ikko dragged himself back to his feet and looked at the remaining bears now that he had successfully punched a bear in its ugly face. He was right, this was so much fun.

Minako POV:
The bears were incoming upon Minako and fast. Her quick wits took the first down with ease. Her next decision was rather, unconventional. She mounted the bear who appeared to not like that idea at all. He thrashed about like a bull and an untrained Matador and sent Minako flying off his back. The other bears proceeded to gain on her. One was extremely clumsy and was coming too fast for him to make a legit attempt at Minako. If her reaction times were in line, she’d be able to defend herself from this bear. The bear approaching her flank on the other hand desired to maul her over by raising a left paw and letting gravity and the weight of its body bring it down. The claw would scratch Minako across her right leg bleeding lightly with a glancing strike. The third bear whom she originally struck down was now roaring on its hind legs. Almost instantly, a few more bears decided to walk in.

She was completely surrounded now by a full circle. Each bear growled and looked at her intensely. It seemed she would have to fight her way through now being cut off from her teammate Ikko. And Ikko was more than busy with his own task at hand. What made things bad for Minako the sound of several people shrieking at the sight of a Shinobi cornered. Their screams would only attract the bears to a more easier target, yet a majority would remain to continue inching closer to Minako seeking an opening to attack together.

The people saw the bears coming, and running toward them not a lovely trot through the meadows. They began to scream louder maybe even Ikko would be able to heat the sudden distress occurring across the way if he had time to listen. Minako would have to settle her dire situation to help a more immediate problem. She could do away with the bears surrounding her, leaving their numbers dwindled or risk being too late to save the citizens. Or she could save them as soon as possible and not delay the inevitable by finishing off all the bears running rampant.

Ikko POV:
The young Shinobi went to work as soon as possible. His icy field helped Minako to where the bears were unbalanced and almost immobilized. Ikko was quick to use his jutsu in a more creative way by crafting himself a pair of high speed skates. In a quick icy flurry and crimson spills bears fell left to right. Ikko was even able to save the fleeing civilians but for some reason they wouldn’t move. The mother shrieked at the sight of one of her missing sons on a tree branch clutching the tree for dear life. The boy was so afraid he could not scream, he could only be seen with wide open eyes shaking and gritting his teeth. Below him were three bears on hind legs, pressed against the tree with all their weight. The sounds of snapping and cracking could be heard from the tree slightly giving way to this new amount of pressure.

As Hoshi was in action, the snapping would grow louder, leaves would begin to rustle and fall from the root from the tree being shaken so violently. The mom would point and shriek from the top of her lungs. She herself went bug eyed and collapsed to her knees looking around. She seemed hopeless now, a blank face, she was worried of what was to happen. There was blood everywhere, and her daughter just watched, maybe… somewhat, amazed? She was dumbfounded at what Shinobi could do and how helpless her family was to such random incidents. She looked toward Ikko, who might have been winded from his display or still reach to go. Either way the girl would yell out.

“My brother is in the tree!”

For both Shinobi they would find that the bears and other animals were responding to a faint vibration. It was low, and since the human ear could only hear so low, it would most likely go unnoticed by them. But this sound made the bears more crazier as they started to roar and howl, sounds of other animals responding too could be heard in the distance. If they did hear it, it would sound a like a low roaring thunder rumbling close to the ear. It would actually cause some discomfort which maybe was the reason why the bears were going out of whack.
