The Diamond District, a place where people lived in swelling decadence. In homes made from rare materials, carved by hands of workers from their own village. Living on vast land they had no right in owning when others had to survive in compact cubes to allow others of similarly low income to have living space. They imported fine wines and delicacies from all over the world, threw money around like it held no actual value when the common working man or woman of Sunagakure bled, sweated, and ached for each pay check. These people were what was wrong with Sunagakure. Their wealth afforded them everything while those of lesser means were forgotten about and left to die in the dark.
A dark figure stood on the main avenue that led into the richest neighborhood of Sunagakure. It was already set ablaze, criminals and low-lives already taking advantage of the lawlessness and looking to take what they so desired. Next to this man was a woman with glossy bronze skin, a figure that was seen terrorizing Sunagakure not all that long ago. Now she had joined in with the chaos. Magnetica had seen an opportunity to remove the village off the map and taken it.
The common thieves and riffraff avoided them, but not all of them were sensible. Some were placed behind bars and in jackets because of their instability. One such man charged at them, brandishing a large butcher's cleaver. He neared and neither of them moved. As the heavy weapon was brought down, the cloaked man became a flash of metal. Seconds passed and the attacker collapsed as pieces of his limbs fell away. In a pile of viscera, the form twitched and stared wide-eyed as his killer stepped over him, the woman staying just at his side.
"Good people of the Diamond District, you have lived out your lives fat and starving for more while others go hungry and suffer."<i></i> His voice was being amplified by a crystal he held close to his mouth, "Today is your day of atonement. You will be afforded a chance to come forward and you will be sent to the Palais to live with the people you thought yourselves above. In approximately five minutes, those of you who have not yet been displaced by our...constituents or surrendered yourself, we will be coming home to home and forcefully removing you. If you have shinobi protection and they offer resistance, they will be killed and made an example of. Your time starts,"<i></i> He looked to Magnetica and nodded. She promptly swung her arms wide and numerous windows shattered in response. Yanked free from the homes around them were various clocks from more than a dozen homes. Pieces of scrap soon joined it and formed the outline to a giant clock, hands in place and threatening to move forward. This way all willing to look from their safe hiding places knew how much time they had, "Now. Consider this a vacation, to an exotic place with many colorful people, and its all expenses paid."<i></i>
A heavy-set man came running out from a corner on the long lane; it looked more like the wild waddling of a frantic penguin. Behind he was a storm of flying bills that many sought to catch. As he neared a pair of criminals took hold of either of his arms and presented him to the shadow man.
"Take it, take it all! Just leave me alone."
From underneath the cowl, a row of dazzling white teeth shone; a stark contrast compared to the normal midnight visage, "My dear man, this isn't about the money. If I wanted your money, I would have taken it all by now."<i></i>
"There are rare jewels, precious metals!" He tossed the leather case forward and it toppled open, minerals the size of fists and bars of gold lay at the two's feet. The two criminals restraining the man nearly leaped forward, but stopped from the fiery gaze of the swordsman before them.
"Mr.Penguin, you insult me by thinking you can bribe me, but I am a man of my word. Sit him down on the pavement over there."<i></i> He ordered the criminals; they knew better than to cross him, "And you are free to take his possessions. Do with them as you will."<i></i>
Magnetica moved up next to her new boss, feet hovering just above the ground, "Do you think anyone will come?"<i></i>
"No matter the outcome we would have won. Sunans have a fatal flaw. Either they are too reckless or they are too much a coward. One will get them killed, or others, and the other will keep them under our thumb."<i></i> While the metal mistress did detest her new employer, she could appreciate how his mind worked. That had been her own mistake, not learning her target before attacking. Even though they had already learned immensely before making a move, every action was meant to continue learning how they were adapting. A brilliant ploy really.
