The letter delivered to Asuka:
Dear Asuka,

It has come to my attention that you appear ready to graduate from the academy. As a result, it has been decided that your Genin exam will begin in six days’ time. It will be broken down into two parts, the first being a general examination paper which you will be required to complete one day prior to a twenty-four hour long practical examination. One this practical examination is complete your pass or fail grade will be given to you.

It is up to you to bring the equipment to your practical exam, so choose wisely.

Regards,
Deguchi Shinzo
Head Jounin

The notice had been delivered to Asuka’s home a week prior to the practical exam date. Her file had been sat upon Shinzo’s desk for a while now as he spent many-a-day pondering on how best to test her. Things at the academy appeared to be too easy for the Uchiha girl now, and that was proven by his own observations of her progress. Now all he had to do was construct an exam that would provide an insight as to if her techniques, coupled with her mental strength, would be enough to keep her safe on ventures outside of the village (with supervision of course). He sat for a while, thinking to himself and then an idea came to him and quickly Shinzo began to write.

It was a brisk morning, far earlier than the time that any sensible person ought to be awake, the chilled wind blew through the leaves of the threes which towered high in the forest of death. The figure of Shinzo stood just outside the perimeter fence, both arms sat folded across his chest as he waited for the arrival of Asuka. A clock positioned close by ticked quietly as second by second the time for the Genin exam to commence grew ever closer.

The Head Jounin waited patiently for the arrival of the Uchiha girl that was to take the practical part of her examination. This was to be the first exam that he was to coordinate and oversee, in his mind the practical trial was to be a challenge for Asuka and the results of such an examination would aid in his calibration of future tests. Despite this, Shinzo was quietly confident in his choice of examination material and eagerly awaited the arrival of the first academy student to experience a test under his own jurisdiction.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Asuka woke up once she heard a knock on her door. Soku was out on a mission so she was all alone today. She yawned once and streched, sitting up from her futon. The mysterious person knocked on the door once again. "I'm coming." She yelled out. She quickly ran towards the door and opened it, no one was there. With a confused look she looked around, it appeared as though children were knocking on doors and running away. She giggled and just as she was about to close the door a piece of paper caught her eye. She picked it up and read it, her eyes becoming wider once she started reading the content. "Ehhhhhhhhhhh?!?!?!?!?! She yelled out.

Asuka was running through Konoha's streets on her way to the genin exam, on her way there she did a mental checklist. Touching the specific part of her body where those items were. "Kunai, shurikens." She touched her left leg. "Check." She summoned her weapon. "Keyblade, check. Checked her pouch. "Explosive seals. Check." Asuka smiled widely getting closer to their metting point, the forest of death.

A few minutes passed and Asuka finally made it to the forest. She immediatley saw the Jounin standing at the edge of the forest. She met the guy briefly once, but had never trully gotten to know him. This would be her chance. She stopped running once she was in front of him and gave him a salute. "Uchiha Asuka reporting for duty, sir!" She gave him a big smile, couldn't wait what would follow and she had high hopes to pass this exam with flying colors!

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Shinzo didn’t have to wait long for the arrival of the academy student. He closed his eyes briefly, allowing for a light breeze to lift his brown hair as well as the tails of his headband which proceeded to whip out behind him. Such movement with the wind made his figure imposing, this despite how young the boy actually was. The stress of his new position was weighing heavily on him and because of this, his face bore a hint of wisdom beyond his years – though that could just be the lack of sleep that the teen had been getting since his return to Konoha.

The boy nodded respectfully towards the student as she arrived. He had encountered her several times in the past but this time, it was on official business that related to his branch specifically. With any luck all would go smoothly from here on out. “You are on time. Punctuality is a great quality for a shinobi to have, but do not let that compliment fool you. You are not a fully fledged kunoichi just yet.” The boy paused for a moment to allow a gust of wind to whip through the area. “Welcome to the final stage of your Genin exam! I shall shortly begin explaining the trial that you are to take, but first I will allow you to ask any questions you have, so fire away.” Despite offering to answer the questions, Shinzo instead spoke once more almost instantly without giving Asuka the opportunity to speak up. “Ah, no questions, good!” A light smirk grew upon his face as a chuckle escaped his lips, for that moment he found the situation humorous.

“Now, your task is to retrieve a scroll. You have twenty-four hours to do so and you may use whatever means you have at your disposal. However, this is not just a simple recovery mission, you will be dealing with the threats which live within the forest behind me.” Shinzo paused yet again, looking for a sign of understanding from Asuka as she listened to his explanation of the task. Soon, he continued as there were more details that needed to be disclosed. “The scroll is not simply lying around on the floor waiting to be found. No. It is strapped to the back of a sparrowhawk.” The head jounin gave a sharp whistle and almost immediately the sound of fluttering could be heard from above as a brown bird came to land on the Seikon’s shoulder. Shinzo did not flinch as the sparrowhawk came to perch close to his head. The feathered creature already had the scroll strapped to it’s back and was clearly ready to go.

“You will have to somehow get the scroll from my friend here before this time tomorrow. Should you be successful in doing so it is imperative that you do not open the scroll or attempt to read it. I will not tell you what is inside, but I will tell you that its contents are extremely important. Is that understood?”

As Shinzo finished this sentence, the sparrowhawk took flight and disappeared off into the wilderness. The boy then unfolded his arms to reveal a kunai knife, on one end was attacked an explosive note. “If you choose to give up and thus fail your exam then throw this kunai into the air. If you do so and set off the explosive note I shall know that you are not to continue any further and shall escort you out of the forest. Is that understood?”

He turned toward the fence that stood behind him and quickly opened up a gate, gesturing for Asuka to walk through. “I would say good luck, but this isn’t a test of luck, this is a chance to prove yourself. Don’t let it go to waste.” And with that said, Shinzo stepped back, allowing the student to enter the forest. Once she was in, he swiftly locked the gate behind her. Now was the time for the true challenge to begin.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Asuka smiled at Shinzo for complimenting her puntuality, to be completely honest... she was late from time to time. Her internal clock and short attention span didn't help at all, she was jut glad she had made it in time for her exam. She was mostly nervous, the last time she came to the forest of death Asuka didn't remember how she got out. She only remembered entering to have a class with Teddy, but now it was different. Today it was the day she would turn into a Kunoichi, a full fledged Shinobi.

Asuka smiled once Shinzo would take her questions, she did have a few. Along the lines off "What dells in the forest?" "Would she be able to cause damage to the forest if need be?" But it seemed the Jounin was not not going to listen to her or answer her questions. That made her give him a pouty look. "Don't say things that aren't true." She told him, annoyed at not being able to ask anything. She didn't find the gesture funny. It seemed she would be thrown into the exam with a simple explanation. That was it.

Huh, well the task was simple enough. A day to retrieve a scroll didn't seem hard, in that moment she understood. Her plan would be to continue moving, avoiding the different threats and finding the scroll as quickly as possible. Didn't seem that hard since her stamina was not lacking, her speed wasn't lacking either and she hoped to find the scroll in no time. She did not expect however that the explanation wasn't finished.

God damn it, this just became a lot harder. The scroll was actually strapped to the back of a hawk, it did make things more interesting but much more difficult. Her jutsu arsenal was mostly fire and lightning jutsus since it was her nature, using fire jutsus to knock the bear down came with the risk of burning the scroll to a crisp and she wouldn't be having that. Her curiosity spiked once she was told not to open the scroll... why did he have to say that? Now she did wonder what was inside and prayed to whichever god listened not to let her curiosity get the best of her. To be honest she saw it like this, once she got the scroll she would bring it back and demand it to be open in front of her. Yeah, that solved one problem. "Understood." She simply said.

Asuka took the kunai and placed it in her pouch, closest to her leg. That means it wouldn't be accidently mistaken for a normal Kunai. Asuka watched the bird fly away, it went in one direction... she would use that info to start the exam. Be up high on the trees to get a better vantage point. Once she was instructed to go inside. A nervous laugh escaped her lips."Luck is for the ones who doubt themselves." She stated giving the Jounin a salute. Asuka closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Once she opened them, her crystal gray color was gone and the glowing red of the Sharingan replaced it. She quickly ran into the forest going up one of the trees and jumping from tree branch to tree branch, looking around... hoping to identify the Chakra of that bird.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Shinzo held a warm smile despite interrupting the student, normally he wouldn’t have wished to ever talk over somebody, especially when they were entering a situation in which the task at hand would be so testing. However, in this case Asuka was facing a test that would determine her suitability as a shinobi - and despite his faith in the Uchiha, Shinzo would not be giving any aid at this point in the examination. He expected the unfavourable response but just chose to continue to hold the gate open for Asuka. Though her acknowledgement about his comment on luck was fantastic to see. In the Jounin’s mind the presence of another hard worker was a good omen. Shinzo simply nodded his head as he watched the girl’s eyes shift into the familiar sharingan, almost immediately she was gone, headed up into the trees. It was clearly an attempt to try and spot the bird but still, the initiative from the girl was a good sign.

As Asuka made her way up toward the canopy of the forest her eyes would be able to see the occasional chakra signature from rodents and various other creatures that made their homes inside the forest. The branches began to increase in thickness with each step that the Uchiha girl took, and soon leaves filled the area. To no supprise the Uchiha dojutsu would easily allow for Asuka to make her way through the sharp twigs that jutted out from the trunk of the tree. Within moments the higher levels of the tree were reached, the Sharingan easily pinpointed a singular chakra signature out in the distance flying high above the trees. Clearly the sparrow hawk held extreme levels of speed.

It appeared that the bird was headed deeper into the forest of death with the scroll tied to its back. If Asuka was to continually focus on the bird and nothing else she would have been able to see its signature begin to descend before it faded from the range of her sharingan.

The forest itself was rather quiet at this time of day and it would remain so for the next few hours. Nothing of great significance happened. A test of patience maybe? But no matter what exactly was going on, Asuka would be unable to see any signs of the bird holding the key to her graduation.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Asuka didn't drop her guard not even for a moment, this was the forest of death. She had heard some nasty stories about this place and most said they weren't true but she wouldn't take them lightly. Taking everything seriously as she moved from branch to branch. Asuka looked around frantically looking for the bird, she spotted chakra signatures of small creatures, she was able to identify some as small birds, mice, squirrel but nothing that looked like the bird she was looking for.

The branches got thicker, making it easier for her to jump from one to the other. She did have to avoid some of the small branches full of leaves, going through them might be a good idea but she had no idea what was inside so she decided not to risk it. After what seemed like an eternity she finally saw a chakra signature that matched the birds perfectly. She smiled widely and sped up, slowly catching up to the bird going higher with each jump to close the distance. This was it, she didn't even have to use any Jutsu. Unfortunately she did not expect the bird to start descending at a fast pace. Going back down was a lot harder and it didn't take long for her to loose sight of it. "Shit." She cursed stopping for a quick breath, she couldn't stay idle for long the bird could hide anywhere. Asuka opted for another strategy. She jumped down from one f the top branches, carefully going down to more or less the middle of the forest and continued running forwards. She started going up and down, ascending and descending. Next time she saw the bird she was going to make sure not to loose it.

With this strategy it left little margin for error, sweeping the forest would take longer but it was the safest option in order to find the bird. If she was too high or too low her Sharingan wouldn't pick it up, instead see opted to do both. Nothing would stand on her way of completing this Exam.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Time passed quickly at first, the rush of searching for the sparrow hawk and the scroll provided much to keep Asuka occupied. However, the hours soon rolled by with no sign of the objective in sight no matter how hard the Uchiha searched. By now it was the early afternoon and the sun sat high in the sky, beating heavily through the gaps in the canopy it cast the occasional bright ray of light that made it to the forest floor.

Occasionally an owl would hoot somewhere in the distance, which was quite strange given the time of day, however the darkness in the forest likely allowed for such creatures to hunt both day and night. Apart from that there was nothing particularly going on as far as was visible for the student. The odd chakra signature made itself known but swiftly disappeared. The Forest of Death wasn’t quite living up to its name.

Suddenly one of the bushes to the rear of Asuka rustled violently before releasing a sprinting squirrel. Close behind it followed a deep green snake, larger than most common snakes. It swiftly slithered toward the squirrel, catching and gobbling it up in a split second. However, this wasn’t all. It’s evil eyes looked over to Asuka, fixing quickly on the student’s frame. Dinner time wasn’t over yet, that much was clear. The head of the green snake pulled back, ready to strike. Even with it’s head drawn back the snake was easily seven feet long, maybe more.

It whipped forward toward the student with its mouth open, bearing fangs glistening in the blood of it’s most recent kill. Would this be the end of the Uchiha? Only time would tell as the reptile rapidly closed the distance between itself and Asuka.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Asuka was paranoid, she kept looking around at every sound she could hear thinking it may have been the Hawk she was looking for. She kept moving up and down for hours, she could see the light dissapearing from the forest turning it darker, how could finding one bird take so long? But she did know how large the forest actually was. She was however wondering where all the "scary" creatures actually were, hours have passed and she has only seen normal animals and insects. If this kept up she did believe finding the bird would be easy, catching it however wouldn't have the same probability of success. she had to come up with a plan to deal with it. Maybe shocking it? Or using her sharingan to paralyze the bird for a few seconds, that could work.

Suddenly a bush behind her began to move, she did see quite a large Chakra signature and immediately stopped. Better to know what it was rather than letting it be, she didn't know if the creature would follow her or catch her off guard later. But thankfully, it was just a squirrel. She was about to leave when she remembered the large Chakra signature and as she was turning her head she saw the poor animal being devoured by a large snake in seconds. This snake was huge, she had never seen one so large but it's green pattern was beautiful in a sense... either way this was not good, not good at all. She knew she couldn't fight the snake head on, if it was venomous she would surely die. Her tolerance to potions was none and even with the medical supplies she had it wouldn't be enough, she couldn't risk, not today. "Snakes... why did it have to be snakes?"

She inhaled deeply as the snake turned to face her, making quick hand seals. She knew the large snake would lunch in a few seconds. "Come on stupid chakra!" She yelled out, almost finishing her hand seals. The snake launched, quickly closing the distance between them. Asuka exhaled a large ash cloud, this cloud was hot. It would cause burns if the stay was prolonged, hopefully this would keep the snake away from her, or at least keep it from seeing her. She dodged the Snake to one side, it's Chakra signature clearly seen through the smoke and immediately jumped up to the next branch, continuing her search keeping a close eye the snake wouldn't be following her.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

With academy student in sight the green skinned serpent readied itself to attack, it coiled back slightly bringing its head up ready to strike. The snake darted towards Asuka as swift as lightning, but within moments its senses were utterly decimated as the scalding cloud of ash was propelled directly into its face. Such vast chakra manipulation stunned the creature at first as the wave of destruction began to crash over the cold blooded killing machine, if such a being could feel impressed then it certainly would have before absolute terror set in. With the inability to turn around evident by the momentum of the snake’s advance, the certainty of exposure became apparent. A loud hiss escaped from its body as the ash cloud began to burn into its scaly hide. Through the jutsu, Asuka would have been able to see the snake curl up in an effort to defend its body before slowly slithering away, clearly in great pain. The attacker had been dealt with easily.

The day continued to pass, hour by hour what was visibile of the sun through the thick canopy of the forest dropped toward the horizon. A pink hue made itself known in the sky on this day, though that did not last long. Soon the clouds began to gather and the rumble of distant thunder became evident, it wasn’t quite evening yet but the flashes of sheet lightning were the only sources of natural light now.

Rain began to pour down from the heavens, moss covered branches and rocks grew ever more slippery in these adverse conditions. But would this impact our student hero? Only time would tell as she continued to make her way through the forest in ever increasing darkness.

In the distance, but far outside of sight range, a bird cawed. Could this be the sparrow hawk? Navigation would now be extremely difficult given the drenched terrain, it would be up to Asuka to decide what would come next.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Asuka laughed out loud once she noticed the snake wasn't following her. This was truly an achievement worth braging about but it wasn't the time to think about that. It was getting dark and soon after that thunder was starting to be heard. Asuka clinched her teeth, rain was not going to be good. It would hide the sounds of the forest, making it harder to find the bird with the scroll. But maybe she would be able to find it before the rain came. Unfortunately... that didn't happen.

Rain poured down on her almost instantly, it made the logs slippery and she did trip a few times almost falling. Visibility became almost non exsistant as light dissapeared from the forest and it turned night, the rain didn't help her situation one bit, but even if the visibility was low, she could at least see the chakra signatures but her hearing was not as good, rainfall being louder than the sounds of the forest. She only hoped Shinzo didn't cause this rain, he would have a few words with him if that was the case. Asuka concentrated even more while moving, looking at the direction of every sound that wasn't rain, she wasn't going to leave anything to chance. Wasn't going to fail.

With that Asuka stopped as she heard some kind of bird caw... it sounded like a sparrow. But she wasn't 100% sure, was this the bird? Was this her ticket out of the academy? She couldn't leave it to chance, and even if it wasn't she would still cover more ground. Asuka turned directions, what she didn't account for was the slippery branch... her foot slid across it and she desperately tried to find her footing, stop her movement. Fortunately the log was there to stop her as she crashed against it. Asuka stood up and scratched her head, this was definetely leave a bump on her head. She slapped herself gently to wake up, this type of mistakes couldn't happen often. Asuka jumped to the next branch, following the sound of the bird. Being extra careful of the branches.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Thunder rang out from above the canopy as a torrent of wind and rain battered the night covered village, two weather fronts had come into contact above the village causing a fierce storm that would only add challenge to the examination taking place. On occasion a large gust would buffet Asuka as she continued on her journey, moving ever closer to the direction of the bird call. The odd flash of lighting blindingly illuminated the forest ahead but there was still no sign of any bird. Yet still the occasional call sounded to guide the young shinobi toward her target, with each caw it became clearer that this was indeed the bird that had been carrying the scroll.

As time past Asuka would have now been able to notice a chakra signature up ahead, it was the bird. However, it seemed as though the sparrow hawk was in distress, flapping around the inside of a makeshift cage. There was no indication that the bird still held onto the scroll at this point in time, its movements were too erratic for it to be carrying a harness and scroll. If Asuka was to come into visual range then she would easily see the caged bird tuck on a rather thick upper branch. Two robed figures sat close by facing one and other, between them rested the scroll. It lay without its cover on, as if it was about to be opened by the two robed figures. Letting such a thing happen would surely be an instant failure, but the bird looked to be in extreme distress and could easily become dinner as the outline of a sheltered fire became visible a few branches higher. It was up to Asuka now to decide what was best, things were never simple in the world of a shinobi. Two objectives sat before the academy student, but what would she do in order to secure either one of them? Or how could she secure them both?

Without a second’s notice one of the figured turned, a flash of lightning wasn’t enough to reveal its physical form, but it was enough to reveal a long and sharp blade protruding from the right sleeve of the dark robe. It darted toward Asuka with great speed and weapon outstretched. The almost scythe-like blade whistled in the wind as the figure grew closer ready to attack the Uchiha girl. Now she would have to deal with this too as well as her main objective.

Re: Trial of a student [Private - Asuka] [Genin Exam]

Asuka followed the noise to it's source, the Chakra signature did make it out to be the bird she was looking. The smile on her face couldn't have been wider, she was going to pass her exam! There was no way in hell that she was going to let the bird escape again. But... something definetely felt off. She could see another two signatures, but they didn't seem to live in the forest, why? Simple, they weren't moving. All the creatures she had seen were always on the move, scavenging for food, this was different. Once she got closer and recognized that the figures were human shaped, she stopped. Camouflaged by a bush.

She saw the bird and clinched her teeth, this was not good. The bird din't have the scroll, it was in posession of one of the unknown figures. What could she do? She didn't want to fight them head on, they may as well be a lot stronger than her and the only way to find out was by fighting. In this case, it wasn't a good idea. Asuka analyzed the situation, trying to find a way to go in there, take the bird or the scroll and leave. If that failed, she would only take the bird. The bird was Shinzo's and it may as well be dear to him, he was part of the Leaf and that made him a comrade. She was ready to start and moved her feet into postion, a stick snapped. Shit...

One of the men turned and looked directly at her, she had just been found out. Without missing a moment the guy jumped towards her, his weapon raised. She needed to think fast, she needed to think fast. Asuka weaved hand signs and exhaled a cloud of searing ash, just as she had done with the snake. Her logic behind this was, the guy couldn't move in mid air and by blinding him it would give her a chance to escape under him and that's what she did. Asuka quickly ran up to the second guy, weaved more hand signs "Lightning style: Lightning Beast." A dog like creature appeared and targeted the second man, a complete hit. She smiled as she quickly grabbed the cage and the scroll, she could feel the volts cursing through him. Without wasting a movement Asuka sprinted out of there, without looking back.

A couple of hours passed and she finally made it to the entrance of the forest. She had zig zagged, turned a different dirrection, just making sure the unknown men weren't following her. The scroll in hand, the bird in the other she walked out and immediatley sat down. Asuka was exhausted, no longer feeling as though she was at her best. Her breathing was heavy but she needed to do something else. Asuka moved to the cage and opened it, letting the bird go free. "There you go buddy." Asuka looked at the scroll in her hand, her curiosity spiked. She wanted to open it, and open it now. But now... this wasn't the time to be stupid. She now waited for instructions. Shinzo nowhere in sight... was there another part to her test?

With the flutter of a long robe in wind one of the figures began to close in on Asuka, his glistening scythe like blade sliced through the air as the distance between the figure and Asuka grew ever smaller. This, however, was not too fast for the genin which was made clear by the sudden emergence of a powerful cloud of scalding ash which engulfed the robed figure in mid air. The ash cloud didn’t last for long as the vicious wind dispersed it with ease. As the remnants of the jutsu were blown away only the sight of a cloak could be seen falling to the ground and being whisked off deeper into the forest.

The second hooded figure was seemingly unamused as he too readied himself to take on the approaching shinobi threat. It’s shape turned in the darkness of the forest and readied itself to leap and intercept the Uchiha girl as she made her way through the dense flora. A second later it had launches itself directly at Asuka, another scythe-like blade made itself known but before the figure could react a bright flash of lightning in the shape of a wild canine came directly toward it. Within moments the figure was engulfed, enabling Asuka to easily retrieve both the scroll and caged bird. Seconds later she was gone along with her quarry.

The hours passed one after the other with little else of importance happening. Gradually the storm overhead began to dissipate, clearly the downpour that had been ongoing for the last few hours was all that the clouds above could give. As the heavenly bodies parted into non-existence a beautiful sunrise slowly rose in the east, casting orange rays of light across the aptly named fire country. The blistering wind died down to a gentle breeze now only serving to provide a refreshing breath of air to those passing through it.

There was no Shinzo waiting for Asuka as she arrived at the gates of the forest, the point of entry that she had taken so many hours earlier. Though hopefully the time it had taken her to face this test was long enough to encourage growth in her mind. The bird hopped out from the cage with a thankful nod, it stared at her for the moment, looking specifically toward the scroll but Asuka did not open it. Roughly ten minutes passed as the bird watched the Uchiha girl intensely while standing quietly in front of her, then suddenly there was a burst of smoke around the bird which engulfed it entirely. A few moments passed as the smoke dissipated to reveal the standing figure of Shinzo with arms folded across his chest, however his face was not stern but rather seemingly jolly with the outcome. “Congratulations, your test is over. There is only one remaining task for you.” He gestured for Asuka to place the scroll on the ground. “Open it and you will see a set of seals, I want you to pour your chakra into the seal, then your combined test results will be revealed to you.”

Asuka remained laying down on the ground despite the fact that her exam was going on, after all the hours she spent running and chasing after that damn bird, after the close calls she came to death... death... god... was Shinzo even close by? If anything went wrong was he really going to save her? Or had she been al alone the past few days... did days really pass? No... that couldn't be possible but it certainly felt like days. "So, what do you want to talk about?" Asuka turned her head to look at the bird who had just hopped his way out of the cage. "It certainly couldn't have been nice being all caged up." A she had suspected, the bird did not have an answer for her. It just kept staring at her with a blank look, but she needed someone to talk to. "Yeah, I know. I look as if I've been buried and crawled my way back to the surface." Asuka giggled at the thought, a bath was what she needed.

With a sigh she kept looking up at the sky, wondering if she had passed or failed. She did get the required items... but Asuka had ran. She had ran from danger, she had ran from danger instead of facing it head on. That would certainly cause her to fail. Out of nowhere a poof of smoke appeared in front of her, instincts kicked in and she summoned her blade, in a ray of blinding light Oathkeeper was held tightly in her hand, pointed directly at the cloud of smoke, glaring Sharingan scanning for any kind of threats. Asuka sighed and lowered her blade once she realized it was Shinzo who had cast the jutsu. "I'm sorry." She laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head. "I'm on edge at the moment." Her laugh stopped once she was given her final task, open the scroll for her results. Wait what? Wasn't she not supposed to open the scroll? Was this... some kind of final test? Her mind went around in circles for about 30 seconds. But... it was her own examiner who was telling her to do so. In a mission she figured it would be okay to do so. "If something happens, I'm gonna turn into a ghost and hunt you!" She pouted taking the scroll in her hand, slowly opening it, keeping her face away in case something sharp shot out... if it was gonna explode... well she had warned him.

Shinzo held back a chuckle, it was nice to see Asuka so cautious but at the same time her exam was finished so it would be best that she trusted him. Instead, he just smiled warmly at her remarks before motioning to speak. “No no, it’s alright the examination is over. The scroll that you hold in your hand is simply your results paper.” He glanced towards her sword, “I’m not going to harm you either.” He waited for a moment allowing for his words to sink in for the genin who was sat before him. There was little else left for her to do, but in fact it could be argued that this next step was the single most important moment that she had faced in the last few hours.

“There’s no need to be on edge at the moment, the hardest part is already over.” With that said, Shinzo knelt down opposite Asuka as she opened the scroll to reveal intricately drawn seals. There was a circle in the middle, seemingly blank that became visible while the scroll rolled into it’s fully stretched form. “Now, together we will put our hands on the paper and pour our chakra into this scroll on the count of three.” He looked over to Asuka for confirmation while placing his fingertips on the outer edges of the scroll, leaving a sizeable gap between them and the centre. Shinzo nodded once more as a direction for Asuka to do the same. When both he and Asuka had laid hands on the scroll, chakra began to pour into it, for a moment it seemed as though the seals began shifting and warping before a sudden yet small cloud of smoke erupted from the scroll. It took a few seconds to pass and so while it was thinning into the air, Shinzo stood up and took a step back to leave Asuka and the scroll on the ground. Where the circle had been there now sat a crisp new Konoha flak jacket, clearly made for the Uchiha girl.

“I had no doubts that you would pass so that’s been sat inside there since the very beginning. Congratulations Uchiha Asuka, on reaching the rank of Chuunin.” Shinzo waited yet another moment for that to sink in for the girl before warmly smiling towards her once more. “Now that you have passed let me treat you to some food, it’s on me. You’ve earnt it.”

The early morning sun glinted in the emerald eyes of the Head Jounin as he began to make his way from the forest of death, though he did stop, waiting for Asuka to join him on the journey into the village.

Asuka looked at Shinzo and sighed in relief, this had certainly been quite a day. She looked at him with a curious look, then at the scroll, then back at him, then back at the scroll, then back at him once more. She turned her head, hoping it wouldn't explode. Even though he had reassured her, just in case. But once the scroll was opened and a small boom was heard Asuka turned and her eyes went wide.

She took the vest in her hands and she began to tear up. Even though it had only been a day for her it felt as though it had been a week. She clenched the vest to her chest and smiled, cleaning the tears off of her face. "You have no idea how grateful I am Shinzo." She could not wait, she took the vest in her hands and placed it on, closing it. It had been made for her, Shinzo knew she was going to pass. He knew. He freaking knew. She nodded to him, following right close behind him. She gave him a pout. "I'm eating every penny out of your pocket."
