Combat Medic said:To say he was a combat medic would be a high overstatement as much as he was a man who simply knew how to tend to his own wounds should he be inflicted by them. Simple bandaging and warding of poisons were in effect the top tier of his knowledge of healing as anything more serious would be grounds for him to see an actual professional. Where his skill set lay was in being able to treat himself of none-fatal wounds while in the midst of battle instead of having to fall back to do so. So in essence that is where the combat part came from.

Shinobi 101: Fire Jutsu -> Melee Acc said:It was nothing new or innovative in terms of how he manipulated what fire chakra manipulation he did understand, mainly because when you're able to channel chakra at will it becomes second nature. This was the case with his fire proficiency in that instead of actual hand seals he simply encased the chakra around his weapons. Far easier was it to control something tethered to your design than was it to master a tool not of your making. Equally it was far more utility in using shape transformation with his chakra since he could make a chakra cloak or a heated weapon to fit a given situation.

Ambidexterity said:Experience was a better teacher than the words of others and when you have survived a decade of war in this world you learn a thing or two. Being able to regulate how much effort and skill placed into your weapon as a samurai was one of them. Albeit he has not been proficient at it in nearly the same timeframe, as a samurai those lessons still hold true. He knew not to over exert his skills and equally knew all to well how to efficiently make use of using two weapons at the same time without taking away from his fighting skill to do so.

Human Anatomy said:He knew where to strike on the human body and what areas were prone to bleeding. He knew the many bones and pressure points guided by the byakugan which he possessed. He knew the layout of the chakra points and where to physically strike to seal off chakra usage. This was especially useful when engaging with shinobi since they were more likely to utilize chakra manipulation. But most importantly about the human body was knowing where to strike to cause adverse physical damage during a fight in order to solidify a win. Though it was not all about other's bodies as he knew his own well enough to k ow how to mend simple problems with it.

Quickdraw said:Movement speed, muscle memory, weapon handling..all of these were aspects of Yo skill which were honed throughout his life. He was never a prodigy or genius but one of those who attained efficiency through experience over the past years of his life. Such things as weapon drawing or item retrieval were second nature and could be done in a timely fashion as long as his instincts were sharp enough and his insight keen on whichever situation needed it. Many times a samurai whether current or former would have found their lives challenged, where the slightest mistake in ability could lead to death. His resolution to be quicker was a resolution of his will to survive.

Acrobatics said:He was not the stiff body type, accompanied by years of training which although different in thought and opinion from shinobi, shared a simple reality. To not be fluid in movement was to die and through this understanding came with it benefits of his pride with his abilities. Calling upon those abilities and strengths were up to his own will with the exception of natural response brought upon by shear instinct or muscle memory. The more pressed to remain alive his situation called for, the more his body would intervene by bestowing an innate drive to avoid dangerous situations. It was not simple grace to which his instincts held a hand in keeping him alive but through the exercised will to remain out of harms way.

Strategist said:Being a man of a relative small list of skill, there was a pride in him that what little he knew in the grand scheme of things, he knew very well. There was no seeking to become effective in everything but to become a master at which he directly saw fit to use. This made him brush off notions of chasing genius or prodigy titles as it was a waste to chase after which you would not use to simply say you were aware of it. To him, his skills were just that, skills which defined who he was. Those skills he mastered were cause of projected use through his life and not when an obscure situation called for it.

Initiative said:Quick movement through experience and training was simple compared to the quick thinking an situational preparedness required to be insightful. Reading into movements and predicting outcomes were all apart of acting before needed to achieve a result much faster than required. It was not something that cause be taught over time but a trait that surfaced the more one experienced certain memorable steps. Recognizing an outcome at step one could lead to changing the course of events by intercepting the end game before it arrived. In his case, Yo's insight had molded in a way that was self serving to his bodies on drive to survive in that he acted on impulses of self other than cues from others.

Duelist said:There was no more of a hallowed virtue amongst warriors of all sects, backgrounds, and professions than the fact that you never take your attention away from who you are fighting. It was perceived to be pure recklessness and unless you had a latent ability that could make up for it, was usually a sentence of death or serious injury. To this, Yo never took his eye off whatever target or prey had become fixed in his sight. He never allowed himself to give a blatant advantage to others and expose himself in such ways. Absolute focus and attention, this was a creed of a warrior and nature of a samurai.

Quick Reaction said:There was an instinct for every facet of life, a natural impulse which was simply built into the very core of an individual. Many never become aware of where their natural instincts lay until an unforeseen event triggers it's surfacing. This was not the case for him as a life filled with danger and unknown certain in battle had made him fully aware of his instincts. To put it in simple terms and explanation Yo had a quick instinct. The closer to death or victory, the more responsive and aware his body became, flooding his skills with boosted amounts of vigor.

Martial Artist said:He was definitely a man of style, being that unlike most shinobi he did come under some tutelage in regards to how he should or could fight. There was no set stance or series of movements to refine however there were such things as martial arts within his samurai upbringing. What he had became proficient in was something much more simple and effective as far as standards went. It was knowledge of how to manipulate his physical chakra that built upon the weapon forged for him from his former samurai days. He did not need to perfect a stance or art because he like other samurai were already the embodiment of a fighting will.

Fire Style said:Repetition, repetition, repetition....it is the only way to turn something from a vague ability into an integral part of what you do day in and day out. Warriors, beyond their weapons and skills also had unique or learned ways of utilizing them to suit their needs. Samurai were no different and by extension neither was he as his marker was an ability to expand his chakra through his weapon to burn those it struck. Being a samurai he was never one to work on the shinobi arts so he naturally developed ways and methods to utilize his physical chakra as not to perform arts of ninjutsu but to enhance his already skilled abilities with weaponry.

Weapon Attunement said:His weapon skills was the cornerstone of his life and his survival. Without that he would have never became a samurai and definitely would not have been able to survive till the end of the leaf conflict, against shinobi who were adept tricksters. Fighting was second nature but weapon mastery was honed skill, something he had pride in especially when it came down to what he was capable of doing and doing right. With his weapon in good hands fighting others seemed to encourage greater performance both from him and his wielded instrument of death. Weaponry was truly a deserving tier in his life.

Bloody Mess said:He was born into a group of people dedicated the laws of bushido and the samurai ways, Yo was never shy of drawing blood. Yo had learned in their written and oral teachings that warriors had always been touched by the blood of battle and the carnage that came with it. The weapons which from the womb to first breath he was fated to learn all had one trait in common imbued within them, their metal and purpose was to draw the blood of their opposition. He was a Samurai, who were warriors that were extremely proficient with blade and purpose. Being no different, his natural upbringing meant that time usually allotted into second guessing battle instinct was instead focused on one simple truth. The only way to win a battle and protect the code by which he lived was to make his opponents bleed as that was the only true sign of victory soon to be tasted.
