Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Konoha was known for many things, but their med-nins were not one of them. Not due to lack of expertise, but because of lack of interest in the profession. Less than a handful of med-nins took care of the whole of Konoha; this spoke to the magnificence of the shinobi who donned their scrubs, even if they weren’t celebrated for it. Yomi didn’t need acknowledgment, only more time, only more human bodies to experiment on besides her own. These days, she didn’t have those kinds of opportunities so it was just her and perhaps a rat or 100.

Yomi peeked her head out of the operating room door before barricading herself inside. She didn’t want to be disturbed by prying eyes or concerned citizens or whomever. As far as she was concerned she was on her own. As far as supervision was concerned she had none and permission was never a thought in her mind.

“Okay.” Yomi inhaled sharply as she looked out at her table of very organized vials and pre-prepped syringes. Her concoctions varied in color: red, black, clear? and possibly in taste but she wouldn’t be consuming these. Next to the syringes were a note pad, pen, and stop watch to take her own notes. She had no time to get a camera to record this experiment and was too anxious to wait another day.

Yomi sat down on the bed and quickly formed some hand seals, casting medical ward on herself. It was a precautionary measure, even if it was half baked. She most certainly could’ve kept the door unbarred to help with her chance of survival. Yet, it didn’t cross her mind. Yomi had been casually poisoning herself with different versions of this poison for months. Although this version was the most lethal and she hoped it could be considered perfected after this trial.

After tying off her arm she pressed against it searching for a vein. It took the med-nin a while to find one that wouldn’t immediately collapse. Satisfied, she picked up the syringe closest to her and injected herself with it and its red content. This concoction Yomi had been working on for some time now. Theoretically she knew what it was supposed to do, but one couldn’t ever be quite sure what would happen on a human subject. Sure, rats could give some indication, but, in the Shinobi world, where a lot of situations can be life or death, she needed to know how it would work on the human body.

Yomi placed the emptied syringe down and picked up the stop watch and started it.

“Hmm…” She glanced over at the remaining syringes, hesitating in her reach for the second one. She waited for any indication that the poison was working within her system. She picked up the notepad and wrote down the symptoms as she felt them. The symptoms were rapid to come, and she was pleased with that outcome.

• Fire in stomach
• Heavy body
• Increased Heart Rate
• Shortness of Breath

She inhaled sharply, trying not to chicken out. After all, she was a Yamanaka and poisons were supposed to be her thing. She shouldn’t be scared, but she knew what they could do and respected the poisons for what they were and the harm that they could potentially cause. Yomi continued writing in the notepad. She did tally marks by the second to approximation how much time it took for her to pass out, glancing over at the stop watch to note how far along in the process she started the tally.

She would continue this until she passed out.

About an hour later, Yomi woke up in a coughing fit. She hacked along for several minutes before catching her breath. She fumbled for the stop watch, but her vision was severely blurred. Yomi checked for her ward and it hadn’t dispersed. The med-nin felt heavier than when the symptoms started and she felt like she was suffering from vertigo. Her only recourse was to lie there until the poison wore off. She was already under the impression she would die, since most the rats did, but perhaps her prep work beforehand assisted her in her resistance.

Yomi would lay there for another three hours before she could see clearly. In the mean time, as she laid quietly with her hands folded on her chest she decided that the other 2 vials would have to wait for another day.

The day had slogged along. There were no emergencies and all the patients were stable for the most part. Yomi sat behind the desk in her office while rubbing her temples. She was bored and she was gaining nothing by sitting there twiddling her thumbs. Yomi pulled a large red backpack out of her desk and headed out. She cast and left a medical assistant there if something happened in her absence.

The med-nin headed up to the training grounds. Not merely a place for just for students, Yomi thought it was a good place to practice for everyone.

“Hmm…” Yomi performed some hand seals and conjured up another medical assistant.

“Practice?” Yomi asked while her assistant nodded in agreement. Yomi opened her backpack and pulled out some kunai and some poison. She coated the kunai with Bellihana and handed them to the assistant. The assistant took the kunai, placing the ones she couldn’t hold into her jacket, jumped back, and went into an offensive stance.

“3…2…” The medical assistant started her count down. Yomi looked wide eyed unprepared for the immediacy of this mock battle even though she was the one requesting it.

“Waaaaait!” The med-nin hollered, but, it was too late. Kunai were being tossed at her at full speed. Yomi, slightly flustered, dropped down to the ground out of the way of the kunai. On the ground, she quickly rolled over and cast a barrier around herself.

The medical assistant, unbothered by the barrier ran up to Yomi and began and onslaught of attacks against it; working overtime to try and deplete it. Yomi had enough time to regain her footing and quickly began infusing the barrier with more chakra, hoping it would be enough to sustain it. However, the medical assistant was extremely persistent in her attacks.
Despite Yomi’s constant infusion of chakra, she felt the barrier weaken, albeit at a slightly slower rate than normal. The med-nin didn’t come out here to hide behind a barrier though and chose to evade the last of the attacks instead of waiting for the barrier’s complete destruction.

The medical assistant watched as Yomi let down her barrier and decided to press on. Yomi braced herself for the oncoming assault and prepared her own counter measures. They both launched 16-hit combos at each other, each hit cancelling out the other’s. The two traded blows for what seemed like forever. The medical assistant knew she couldn’t keep this up for long and decided it was time to end this. Pulling out two kunai that she had stashed in her lab coat, she stabbed Yomi in her side carefully avoiding any sensitive areas while causing the most blood loss. To successfully do this, the Medical Assistant allowed herself to be hit with a palm strike to the face causing her to disappear.

Yomi groaned and fell backwards onto the ground. She coughed a bit as she pulled out the kunai. She shook her head in annoyance and cast System Shock, Coagulation, and Mystical Hand simultaneously. She was largely immune to her bloodline’s poison, thanks to her mastery and her resistance to most poisons. However, it could affect her and she was still technically on the clock. She would stitch herself up more thoroughly when she got back to the hospital.

“Yikes.” Yomi said flatly as she made her way back to her post.

Luckily no emergencies befell the hospital while she was gone. She slunk into her office and closed the door behind her, careful not to bump into anyone on her way back inside. Yomi looked at her wound that was okay, for what had happened but she was less enthused that she had not perfected the things that she had been working on.

Coagulation was a technique better used to support her team in the field or for a patient on her table. Not to be used on herself if it could be helped. She hoped to have that technique become immediate at the injury site, work internally and automatically to stop any short-term blood loss and eventually make it was difficult to cause an injury at all.

It was still early in the day, and Yomi decided to continue her little training exercise. Instead of stitching the wound like she initially was going to do, she decided to reopen the wound. The girl took off her lab coat and shirt to have better access to the wound. Slowly, she dug two fingers into her side and wiggled them around until it bled enough to her liking, crying out a little at the self-inflicted pain.

Despite the pain, Yomi cleared her mind as much as she could. She focused her chakra on the site of the wound trying to internalize a technique that she already knew. If she could learn it, it would save her some strength in the field. Yomi practiced for many hours that day healing and reopening the wound. As day turned to dusk, she was satisfied with her progress in healing. It also became much more difficult to reopen the initial wound. Although it was not perfect so Yomi decided she would continue this more in the coming weeks to perfect the technique.

Asuka wanted to train, and the Goddess was happy to oblige. It was not custom for her to do so at Asuka’s behest, but, she was feeling a bit froggy. Right, no time for pleasantries, they were trained the same. Asuka brandished her dagger and charged at Yomi who side stepped and tripped Asuka.

“Rusty?” Yomi asked as she lent a hand to help her up. Asuka reached for her hand, taking the advantage to pull her down. The Goddess jerked forward, and landed beside her friend, placing her hand on Asuka’s chest to try and keep her down.

“Not really.” Asuka replied as she got to her feet.

Yomi grinned and rolled away from the stomp out that Asuka was trying to give her. Apparently Asuka had some things to get off her chest. Fine, Yomi had time today. She scrambled to her feet, pulling out her own dagger.

Yomi went into a defensive stance, prepared for Asuka to charge again. As she did, their daggers clashed, Yomi not allowing her friend and opening to hit her. The girl was un-phased, as she kept up the furious pace of her attacks. Yomi felt the aggression rise in her as well because of Asuka’s anger but she didn’t allow it to overtake her. Although they had left their previous lifestyle behind, it was clear that they both were itching to shed some blood. The Goddess grinned some more, her eyes flashed a telling color of red. Asuka hesitated at the sight giving Yomi an opening. She sliced her dagger across Asuka’s face. Asuka held her freshly opened would and fell back. The wound burned immediately as blood flowed freely down her face. The wound was deeper than the girl thought it should have been, with the pressure that she felt that Yomi applied. Asuka wiped her face some more, but, it wouldn't stop and so she let it be. The wounded side of her face began to feel numb. Now that.

“Poison…”

“There’s a Yamanaka at work who is very knowledgeable.” Yomi ingested the blood from her dagger. Poisons don’t affect people of the faith the way they do everyone else. A seal formed beneath her feet as she looked at Asuka. Asuka was fighting the effects of the poison, but, like Yomi, it didn’t affect her as much. Too bad Asuka had not yet been initiated into the faith because maybe it wouldn’t be bothering her at all. The disciple looked at the seal around Yomi with a questioning look. She had never actually seen her do this before and was afraid. Too bad she wouldn’t get to see what it would do, as it was only a distraction.

When would she pledge? Yomi asked herself as she watched a flummoxed woman before her. No matter, time to end this charade.

Yomi whistled. A moment later the earth felt as if it was giving way beneath their feet. The disciple became unsteady and disoriented. Perfect. Yomi wasted no time. She ran up to her partner and kicked Asuka square in the chest sending her flying away from her. Asuka landed on something soft and fluffy. Besito was looking down at her with his big pink eyes.
Asuka groaned and sat up holding her chest. Yomi focused the chakra in her feet the deliver a kick that would have surely shattered her chest cavity if Yomi wanted it to, she didn't.

“How?” Asuka asked through coughing fits.

“Wasn’t trying to keep you down earlier, I was inscribing a ward to keep your health up. ” Yomi said as she placed the base of her dagger to Asuka's temple. She placed the other hand on the side of Asuka's head. “I’m never unprepared for a fight. He’s always waiting for my call.” She left out the part where she could control her eye changing colors now. It was a strategy she hoped to be useful again should they fight for real.

“Right...” Asuka held her chest, visually peeved, but, what could she do? The Goddess rid the poison from the girl’s system as well but did nothing for the pain.

“Right.” Yomi answered as she smashed Asuka's head into the opposite end of her dagger, knocking her out. She picked up Asuka and carried her back home.

Yomi sat with her fellow Medical Ninja in their shared office space. To cause less confusion, Yomi referred to the other Yomi as Daisy. Daisy sat with Yomi day in and day out explaining the intricacies of poison and its related effects on the human body. Today was no different. Elated that she had a willing participant in her experiments, Daisy injected Yomi with all manner of poisons many of them were of the Yamanaka’s own creation.

She said it was a two-step process. First, she would inject her with the red substance, and then the blue substance with a precise 30 second wait time. Yomi asked what the wait time was for and Daisy stated that it may cause adverse reactions in a smaller interval. The Goddess allowed Daisy to inject the first substance. It burned her as she felt it course up her arm. Quietly she counted in her head to 30.

23, 24, 25… on the 26th second Yomi felt a second prick of a needle.

“That was only 26 seconds.” She said calmly. Daisy looked at her with a confused face.

“Was it? Oh! I was too excited. Apologies!” Daisy was sincere in her apology and although that didn’t make it right, it lessened Yomi’s desire to strike her upside the head. Truthfully, Yomi liked the other Yomi and acted accordingly.

“It’s okay. We’ll see what happens.” Yomi’s tone was even.

Asuka cracked Yomi upside her head with bound tree branches she harvested from an older tree. It was skinned and carefully wrapped with barbed wire. Yomi watched as if it happened in slow motion but she could not move. The wind whistling in pain as the weapon tore through it to meet its intended target. Reflexively, the med-nin jerked away as the wire bit into her supple flesh. Asuka reached to grip her throat with her free hand, another moment that Yomi could see but was unable to move quickly enough to defend against it. The Goddess grabbed the First Disciple's wrist to prevent her from crushing her windpipe as she was attempting to do.

Asuka always trained with such anger towards Yomi. Her aggressiveness showed only in these instances which on some level Yomi understood and accepted. Though, Yomi would not be bested here, no matter how much Asuka tried to beat her. Yomi reached and placed her hands on each side of her face. Asuka knowingly jumped back, freeing Yomi from her grip. Silently she watched as her Goddess coughed and gasped for air before she spoke.

"Well, if you fight like this, it's clear you won't be able to dodge as effectively."

Yomi nodded in agreement. "But, it may give someone false hope, as it did you, to come in close. I didn't even get a chance to use my jutsu." Her voice was raspy from the choking. Asuka scoffed at her comment.

"A shame I did not want to be rattled...Either way, should you have cast it, I think it would have been pretty effective, all things considered."

"Let's test that theory." Yomi quickly bust out some hand seals. Asuka stumbled backwards and rubbed her eyes. She blinked at the woman before her before shielding her eyes with her arm.

"What did you do!" She asked in alarm. "I cannot see straight."

"That's what I did." Was her response. "It'll wear off eventually, but I want to study how its affected you. Come, let's go home."

She walked to her oldest friend to help her home.

Asuka hear d a knock on her door. She was not expecting anyone, so she was quite certain that Yomi was at the door. She had not ventured to what Asuka now considered their little starter home since becoming Hokage, but, it was a welcomed visit.

She opened the door in an apron, and, by the looks of things, she was doing some cleaning. Besito, who caught scent of his Mistress, came darting from the depths of the Forest of Death. He was excited to see Yomi, who had been by less and less.

Shaking the ground beneath them, Yomi would try to keep herself steady. Her equilibrium was off the heavier she became, however, that would not stop her from keeping up with her training, which, was the purpose of today’s visit with Asuka.

Asuka pulled off her apron and stepped outside of the house. Greeting Yomi in bow, she still remained so formal after all that they had been through. Yomi pulled Asuka into a hug, opting for less formality in the privacy of the woods.

She wrapped her arms around her, noting that she could no longer do it as fully as she once could do the inhabitants of Yomi’s womb. Like a magnet, she was drawn to place her hands on her belly. A small, rare, smile crept upon Asuka’s face.

“I want to meet them.” She said to herself more than she did to the Hokage. Yomi, who could not quite manage a smile yet, replied in kind. “Me too.”

Besito nudged Yomi as lightly as he could, wanting some of Yomi’s attention too. She turned to her Battle Wolf and gently stroked his fur. To him, he looked so much larger. Perhaps not seeing him for so long, distorted her memory, or perhaps, being with Ezo and Eiki made her forget that he was so massive.

“Besos…” She said as she nuzzled into his fur. Asuka watched as this went on for a while, before she questioned Yomi’s presence.

“What do you need?”

Pulling away from her pup she reached under her Kage robes, revealing her daggers. Asuka nodded in knowing, but decided for no weapon and instead plopped herself down where she stood.

“You and Besito, should have a go.”

Yomi looked at the woman and then to her pup. It was true, they had not trained as enemies in forever. This was a good way to test her strength and speed based on her current condition against an opponent who only needed her to misstep once before they crushed her. Besito would do that in the most literal sense.

Besito whined a little as he sniffed at Yomi’s belly, obviously concerned that he would hurt her in the tussle. Yomi reassured him that they all would be okay. Although he looked like he didn’t believe her, he would do as she asked.

“Do not hold back Besito.” Yomi reminded him.

Besito gave a “small” bark in acknowledgment. He followed orders so well. As she removed her stuffy Kage robes, she wondered why she couldn’t enlist him in the Main Branch.

With her movement uninhibited, she gave no warning to Besito as she lunged at him with a chakra-assisted boost at her feet, daggers in hand. The wolf was prepared for her onslaught however, opting to snap at her legs in an effort to trip her up. He was sturdy and familiar with the bite of her blade. He was not afraid of it in the way that others new to be.

Normally a move like that would have been easy enough for her to dodge, but, she was not battle tested in this state. It caused her to dodge slower and almost stumble and fall into him. As requested, he did not go easy, not allowing her to really regain her footing before a massive paw was coming down to crush her. Pressing the Action Button, she utilized a combat roll to get out of the way, scurrying into the forest for a better advantage. There were several things that moved in the forest that would get his attention and the trees helped her hide better.

Besito followed her into the woods, but, he couldn’t move as easily as she could. His size made it harder for him, and he was not one for meaningless deforestation. Yomi concentrated the chakra-in her feet, letting her climb the trees in an effort to get to his head. The Battle Wolf, however, would not be caught by surprised. His superb sense of smell, made her easier to find, and try to fend off. He would snap at the air as she came down upon him a roaring rage, digging her blade into his ear. She knew, she could get the most blood and the best reaction from him if she hit him in the sensitive bits. He went down with a shriek and an earth-shaking thud, but, it wasn’t over. She scrambled away from his snapping jaw, and wailing front paws, only to be thwacked with his massive tail. She hit a nearby tree with a pearl clasping crack. She went down as she was knocked out cold.

Blood poured from the wound it created, however as quickly as it started it seemed to have stopped. Ever since she became pregnant, her body had been in overdrive. A stubbed toe hurt less, a wound healed faster, and paper cuts, in all their annoyance, went unnoticed.

She woke up later in her old bed, with Asuka looking over her, and Besito peeking through the bedroom window with sad puppy eyes. Sitting up Yomi asked how long she was out for.

“Only about twenty-minutes, give or take.” The Battle Wolf whined.

“It’s alright Besos” She replied. “Whats your assessment then?”

Asuka folded her arms and sighed. “ Well, you’re slower, but, that’s expected. What you lack in balance and speed, you surely made up for in accuracy. Even with Besito knowing where you were coming from, you still hit him. And it seems like you’re stronger, you heal better now. Beso’s is still bleeding, so I think you’ve gotten better at that too…which, I didn’t think was possible.”

Yomi made a satisfied expression. “Well, as they say, difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.”

Asuka shook her head, unenthused by Yomi’s attempt at making light of the situation. “Well, he still knocked you out. And you’re pregnant, so I’d be mindful of that. In fact, I don’t want you fighting at all.”

Yomi sighed, knowing that Asuka would only be satisfied, much like Tamashii, if she were kept in a soft padded room with gentle sounds, loads of pillows, and only healthy snacks.

“Of course, Hano Asuka.” Asuka dead-panned in happiness.

This chapter in her life was now officially over. She would no longer be hunted by the man she would come to know as her father or the past life on the Mountain. It was more cathartic than she had thought it would be and like most children who came from abusive homes, she felt guilty for that. It would dull, though, as she became more in tune with her cosmic-self. Her Godhood granted her new gifts to further her holy ideals, whatever that may be. Rei had said that the choice was her's to be dark and bloody, like her, or light and merciful like whatever other Gods walked among the aether. She decided that, if she had the choice, she would be whatever she needed to be to get through whatever trial she faced. If she needed to be a healer, she would do that. If she needed to be a morose and sadistic, she'd be that too. There were no absolutes in this world and she would not be placated by having to decide on some others rudimentary idea of what she should be. She was, after all, the Alpha and Omega, What happened in between that was just fluff.

Pulling out her dagger, she sliced her hand open with barely a grimmace. A new found power was awakened within her that she was trying to get a grasp on. She lazily weaved some handseals together as blood freely flowed through the opened wound. Casting a high level-jutsu, she noticed that her chakra pool did not diminish.

"Huh..." She said in surprise.

Cutting her other hand again, she did it again, coming up with the same results. She stopped the bleeding and healed the wound before she tried it again, but this time, the results were what she had initially expected them to be. Her brow furrowed again in slight confusion as she repeated the process of cutting her hand open again and letting it bleed, to cast the jutsu for the forth time. Again her chakra levels didn't decrease. She smirked a bit, realizing that her blood was the catalyst for keeping her chakra levels high. It was something good for her, since she was good at using her weapon and as a doctor Yomi knew where to cut and how to cut to keep herself out of harms way.

Sitting back, she twirled her dagger between her fingers as her thoughts drifted to all the other things her final ascension granted her.
