Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The wind whispered through the trees, carrying with it the familiar scent of earth and damp moss. Konoha’s ancient forest stretched endlessly, its towering trunks casting long shadows that moved gently in the breeze. The rustle of leaves was almost soothing, like the quiet hum of a distant lullaby to the ears of those that called this place home. But to the rogue ninja stepping through the underbrush, it held no memory of homely comforts. It was the sound of an inevitable end drawing near...

He stood still, letting the memories wash over him for a moment, both the good and the bad, the incredible and the simple, nothing forgotten and no regrets. The village was just beyond the trees now, so close the memories felt like only moments ago. Konoha, his former home. Once, it had been everything! A place of loyalty, duty, and bonds. He had shed all of that long ago. His choices, his path, had taken him far from it. A rogue. A ghost. A murderer.

But now he was back. Not out of regret, nore seeking redemption, but with a single, simple purpose.

He was searching for someone strong enough to kill him....

There was no sadness in that thought. No fear. No anger. Just a quiet, almost delighted anticipation. The shinibi had lived his life in defiance of the rules, of the expectations placed on him. He had chosen his own path, one that led him through countless battles, countless deaths, and countless betrayals, taken him to the halls of the gods and to the pits of hell. He had fought for survival, for power, and, ultimately, for freedom.

But what was freedom if there was nothing left to challenge him? What was the point of living if there was no one left to fight?

He had grown bored of the shadows. The quiet days of solitary reflection had offered him no more thrill. The rogue ninja had become something more than a weapon. But now, after years of walking alone, he found himself craving something more, something denied him despite all the freedoms power has earned him.

He saught death...

Not just any death though, he saught a specific death. A death that would come not because of age or sickness, but from a worthy opponent.
He smiled to himself, lips curling at the thought.

Who in Konoha would be strong enough?

His heart quickened. There were names, of course, old comrades, former friends who had once stood beside him in battle or stood against him in the days since. Would they even recognize the murderer he had become? Or would they still see the boy who had once bled for the village and offer him unsaught forgiveness? It didn’t matter. He wasn’t here to be reunited. He wasn’t here to ask for forgiveness.

He was here to die.

To face death not as a victim, but as someone who had outlived every challenge life had thrown his way.

His chakra hummed softly as he moved deeper into the forest, the shadows folding around him like an old cloak. The village loomed ahead, its pulse growing stronger with each step. He could hear the murmurs of life, the laughter of children, the clang of metal on metal as training drills echoed from the great dojos, the rush of footfalls on the streets and a thousand other sounds of the bustling village.

There were warriors here, strong shinobi, some of the best in the world. The thought made his pulse quicken. Could any of them defeat him? Could any of them end the life of the missing ninja who had spent years honing his skills, sharpening his body into something that could stand against even the greatest?

Maybe.

His smile widened. He wasn’t just looking for any opponent. He was looking for someone who could match him. A true battle, the kind where the winner and the loser didn’t matter, because the fight itself would be the end of him.

The rogue’s footsteps were quiet as he moved towards the gates of Konoha, but he wasn't slipping through shadows. He wasn’t concerned with hiding for he didn’t care if anyone saw him. He was beyond that. His eyes scanned the faces of the villagers at the gates, searching, waiting for someone to notice him, to recognize the challenge he offered.

A slow movement caught his eye. A shinobi, strong and disciplined, stepping through the village gates, indicating with his hand for Yong to approach. His posture was perfect, his expression unreadable. Another warrior. The rogue’s heart skipped a beat in anticipation. Could this be the one? Could this shinobi be the answer to his final, fateful question?

He approached, his movements deliberate, almost casual. There was no rush. He had all the time in the world, or rather, what was left of it.
The rogue stopped before the shinobi , locking eyes with him. He could see the confusion in the man’s gaze in response to his own intense stare. The recognition, the flicker of hesitation. It was a familiar feeling. But it didn’t matter. He didn’t need a response. All he needed was a challenge.

"Halt, what is your business with Konoha?

A laugh, low and dark, escaped his lips.
"I’m looking for someone strong enough to kill me," he said simply, his voice cold and quiet, yet tinged with excitement. "Someone who can finally put an end to this."

The guards eyes narrowed, fingers twitching toward the hilt of his weapon ready for an attack. But there was no fear in the rogue’s voice and he did not move to attack. There was only the smallest hint of the concealed thrill of knowing that this could be it. This could be the moment he had been waiting for. He wasn’t afraid of dying. In fact, he welcomed it. He had been running from it for so long, but now... now it would come on his terms.

The rogue’s grin widened. "Are you strong enough?"

He didn’t care if the shinobi attacked or hesitated. He didn’t care if he died here, on the streets of Konoha, or in some distant corner of the world. The only thing that mattered was that, for once in his life, he had found someone who might be able to end his journey.

And he was eager to see if they could.
Because, in the end, what was a rogue ninja without a worthy end?

It was time to find out.

Nao had gotten a call from the guard's house. "This crazy person is talking about killing him!?!" Nao frowned at those words. Who person would be in their right mind to say such a thing? He sighed as he leaned back in the chair that belonged to the assistant, looking at the kage spot. He would stand up himself and get ready to leave. Right outside he would adjust his glasses, there were dark circles under his eyes. "Too bright.." he muttered as he would get to the gate.

He didn't wear his usual sennin style clothing, but rather simply clothing that could get dirtied by anything needed right now. Yet not too simple so he could meet officials too. "Good afternoon..." his voice sounded calm, his gaze didn't have that spark of life right now but was a dual-colored puddle. He had scaled following up from one hand to the lower arm. Scales on his chest that seemed like a slashing motion. His hairs tied back. "I heard that you wished to die..." That was when he saw who it was, a big drag was taken from his cigarette. I guess keeping friends was also out of the nope. "YONG?!" He called out, then let the smoke escape his lungs again too. "Are you on a suicide mission to something?! AHOKA"

[sorry its small...]

He had crossed the line into forbidden territory long ago, abandoning his past, his village, his ties. Yet, there was one bond that remained, a thread pulled tight over the years. An old friend, the calm that was the tempest of Yong. The one face that could spare bloodshed and have the rogue ninja take a breath. He sense dthe approaching bright soul, the sennins power tasted like air after a storm... Perhaps there was one left who could fulfill his wish.

The sound of Nao's footsteps on the gravel broke the awkward stillness between the guard and Yong, and the rogue turned to see a bit so familiar face. Yong gave a small, wry smile as he saw Nao approache.
"Like the new look..." he teased, pulling out a cigarette. The rogue grinned. "But some things you don’t get to change... It is good to see you Nao."

The gate guard breathed a sigh of relief as he realised the sennin had taken control of the situation, this was obviously above his paygrade!

The two moved quickly out of the common thoroughfare, moving to the small guardhouse. Resting their backs against the stone wall, silently lit their cigarettes. The soft, crackling burn of the tobacco was the only sound between them for a long moment though the bustle of the busy gates was loud, the flames whispered like thunder to the storm inside Yong's mind.

Finally, the rogue spoke, his voice low and contemplative. “Friend Nao... I’ve been thinking a lot, lately.”

“About strength,” the rogue said, exhaling a plume of smoke. “Not the strength we were trained to use... not the strength of a single village or country... but the strength of the world. Its true strength.”

“It’s not just power,” the Yong said, his voice steady, but with a hint of something darker. “It’s about testing all limits. I’ve seen the world, lived on the edge of it, pushed my own boundaries... but I still feel incomplete. If we all push harder, fight harder, strive for more, more power, more strength, more more more... What happens when we reach the end? What if we shatter it all? What happens next...”

Yong took a drag from his cigarette, considering his words carefully. The rogue’s eyes glinted with a hard, unfamiliar light. “You and I both know the truth, Sennin Nao. Power isn’t given. It is taken. And the world, as it stands, is fragile. If I break it, I’ll see if it can be rebuilt stronger. I want to know if it can. If it should!”

A heavy silence fell between them, broken only by the faint rustle of wind through the trees and the still bustling gates.

“I’ve been waiting for this day...” Yong said quietly. “For the day when everything I’ve learned, everything I’ve fought for, all the darkness I’ve embraced, when it finally means something. When I can push the world itself to its knees and see what rises from the ashes.”

Yong exhaled slowly, flicking the ash from his cigarette. “And if nothing rises. If there’s nothing left but ruin?”

The rogue looked directly into Nao's eyes, meeting his gaze, the fire in his eyes unwavering. “Then I rebuild it myself...”

Yong was silent for a long time before he spoke again, his voice tinged with sadness. “You’ve changed, my friend. But I know you can’t follow me down that path.”

With that, the rogue stopped leaning against the wall, taking one last drag from his cigarette before tossing it to the ground and grinding it underfoot. He glanced at Nao, a brief flicker of something akin to regret passing through his eyes, but it was gone as quickly as it had come.

"Konoha will be last..."

"Or you could try and stop me now?” he said, a cheeky grin attached to the thought, then he turned to leave.

The gates of Konoha loomed behind him, witnesses to the quiet departure of a rogue, determined to test the world’s strength, no matter the cost.

He had called his friend an idiot, but there seemed to be of no responese. He only got a comment about how he had changed. He clicked his tongue onto the roof on his mouth and let it slide. “Some things indeed never change..” he woul simply sigh as he woul follow Yong a little away from the gates.

While the silence was growing between of them, the tired eyes of Nao looked to his friend before the trees in the distance. He opened up his mouth to speak, but Yong spoke first, making him swallow the words and listen to hi friend. “Strength of the world huh…” he thought as he just silently kept listening to Yong.

‘That is true… you lived in this world, but what about another..’ He gripped his hand as he would look towards his friend, not faltering either with a calm and collected gaze. But the spark of the past wasn't there right now. “ I believe we can drop the nicknames included. It is just a rank anyways… It doesn't matter right now either in leaf.” He would sigh as he would have preffered to just be called Nao or any nickname would be sufficiant.
Another silence filled the air and the Sennin would simply snip in his fingers and the sennin ropes would dissapear. He put on another cigarette and offered yong another one too. Something was on his mind, but he had no idea how to tell without faltering his status. ‘ what status…’ He thought seconds later. ‘ With the state of leaf.. there is nothing left soon anyways.’ “ rebuild huh…” he would repeat and already a little thinking further. A few plans started to form in his mind, but he wasn't entirely sure which one would be benivisial.
“Last huh…” he would comment before looking to his friend that tried to leave the place. A grin started to form… No matter how idiotic this plan was. He had something.

A cracking sound came from the red haired mans hand. His gaze colder and you could really see the chakra aura arond him too. A sly grin had formed. “Don’t you think it is too soon to leave? Buddy…” The last part was whispered, and he motioned the other to follow.
“i don't care if you are testing me or not, but I ain't letting you leave yet. I don't care if you end me right here and right now. I have nothing to loose, I have no lingering attatchments to this place. but. I am bound.” he spoke and would eventually turn back to face yong. the gates were a ltitle bit away and the trees were a lot taller here. Withuot giving the man a time to speak, he spoke.
“While I look different, things did become different. We have lost a lot of people inside of the gates, Red River Virus. Currently, I am the only sennin that is around. There are hardly any students and chakra people without Coma or gone insane. Before you stop me from rambling on Yong, before you say but your position… I dont care.” He spoke harsh. His hand would go to the old wound on his chest. “ I am alone here anyways. I do not know what has bound me to this place or how, I am unable to leave. “ He continues and would use his kinjutsu, his lineage.

In a few seconds, a dragon would be standing in front of Yong. “ I am tired, there is no one, nothing here, no hoard either. tell me what you want, I don't care anymore. If you wish to have a fight right now, then let's do it. If you wish to have a talk, ,go for it, if you wish to still walk away. I won't stop you now. But….” And with this he turned back. “ i need you. I am lost…” asking this was already a whole something, but he also placed his life in his hands. “No one knows that form, only my contracts. and to say you have seen this world… That is true, but dont forget… I know another.”

[stopped, giving offer]

Yong extinguished his cigarette as a serious, though thoughtful expression came over the rogue ninjas face, so much revealed in the space of moments... The prophet Migoya had whispered of the true will of fire hidden deep within this sennin of Konoha... They had been quiet whispers on a lonesome road traveled together, a time long ago... Migoya had said so many things, too many had turned out to be correct...

"I came to you with a mighty voice of wrath, proclaiming death and destruction... And with a small voice you whisper and calm the storm..."

Bending time around himself Yong moved literally instantly, the fingers of his right hand outstretched milimeters away from the side of Nao's head, fingertips over key chakra points in the skull, his other hand placed over Nao's chest, though a few centimetres away.

"A token for a strangers lament... I changed the course of a Kingdom..."

Time slowed now for them both, Yong's chakra flowed around them like a bubble in reality. The very fabric of time seemed to unravel in a moment. The air seemed to thicken, and the sounds of the world around them vanished abruptly, leaving an eerie stillness in their wake. The steady wind froze mid-breath, the breeze suspended in the air as if it had forgotten how to move.

"A token for the leviathan's sadness... I broke an eternal cycle..."

His body dissolved into shimmering light in what would be described as an instant if time had any influence here, his flesh and bone vanishing as he transformed into a radiant being of pure chakra, pulsing with limitless energy and otherworldly power though still very recognisable as the Man he has been a moment ago. (Ooc: name of the rose Yamanaka power)

"A token for the demon's frustration... I brought low the gods..."

Yong's voice seemed to echo in Nao's ears as if spoken from a great distance.

"My final token now for the broken heart of the dragon... How could I refuse such a request..."

As he spoke the final word Yong moved forward suddenly, ethereal fingers would move through flesh with no resistance, flooding Nao's chakra system in a painful moment as Yong's soul moved through his friends body... For the briefest moment Yong had felt Nao's pain in a literal sense! (Yamanaka possession!)

And then it was over, the world moved through time again, the breeze blew, people bustled and Yong once more stood as a man of flesh and blood a few feet away, the pain of the moment would be gone from Nao almost as if only an echo of a memory remained. (Ooc rewind temporal strider power on Nao's possession so it never happened)

Yong would give his friend a concerned smile as he reached for another cigarette, his finger pointing to the semi healed wound hidden beneath the scales on his friends chest.

"Do you know who did this to you friend Nao? They have not stolen your will of fire... But they did take your heart..."

At the mention of coming with wrath... And he calmed that storm, was something he bitterly smiled at. He too wished for change, but he held nothing to change it with.

It was a sensation that Nao had once forgotten. Time started to act weird, yet what most shinobi did.. Was guard, prepare and tense up. With Nao that wasn't the case, he kept standing there calm and relaxed with his muscles. He tried to keep looking around to see what this phenomenon was... But at the same time there was a hint of being scared. How much would this affect him? What would exactly effect him? Once the voice was close by again, his eyes just simply went towards the voice. A soft chuckle left him. "A broken heart huh..." he muttered and would feel a bolt going throuigh his body. It was so suddenly that it took the breath away from him, his system got a litteral shock through it. And to tell the truth, without much of a filling inside the stomach. He felt nausea all the same.

Another second was happening and that pain was gone, the feeling along with it all gone. It left the man puzzled. With open eyes he looked towards Yong as he took another smoke. He followed the finger and looked down on his chest, hearing the others words... he was puzzled.
"huh..?" He questioned simply, looked back up to Yong. "But... it is sounding..?" he frowned, he had no idea that this was the case. The frown got deeper as he took a breath, he could hear the beat inside of him..? He opened up his eyes, something was off. "You... may be up to something..." He would do a few jumping jacks, then listen again. Exactly... the same rythm. "...." You could slowly see the fear settling inside his eyes.

'Where is it..? I did not simply drop it like i would do with my house keys... I did not leave it on a counter to forget either... where is it?!"' He swallowed and with shaking hands he would grab another sig. The always calm looking man, stood there half panicked. For a second the dragon forgot that this man was here... A low growl left the man and for once his colder side was there. "Those f- beep and the loony toons beeps in the hellesh name of the." And he ranted on for the duration of his cigarette. It felt good to get that out of his system... but he was puzzled on to how this was exactly the case.

"There are just two possible moments this could ahve happened... One in crater city, one inside the forest here." He exhaled more smoke then possible from a cigarette. The dragon was angry... If he wanted, he was able to burn down the place right now. "Let's state facts." He would look towards his friend and grabbed a stick. He would write key words on the ground. "My heart is gone, I still hear a sound.... but that remainst he same no matter what I do. Once I listen very close... it doesn't sound human... Rather mechanical. In other words, I am here without a heart, it is else where. It must be locked with something as I cannot sense it... There are only two instances I have been knocked out. One was when I was helping children out of traffic in Crater city. I got back wounded from that... and shortly after had to go exterminate things inside the forest... The one where genin could train. I believe around hat time, these scales remained. I thought it was because of my kin..." He muttered.

"But why mine..? Yes, my heart ain't that of a human anymore... But all it really does is make your vision funny..." He would cross his legs and sit down, dabble a little. "Sorry my friend... if I had known I was this messed up..." A deep sigh left him. "I don't even have a lair or hoard even... I am the most simple and boring one there is probab-... How am I alive..?" a shocked expression, a dropped cigarette and a hint of panic flushed his face.

[ooc; I had given Yong knowledge that nao's heart isn't there. Go for him and you come for me o.< ]

Yong let his friend rant uninterrupted for the length of the cigarette, it was quite a shock to learn ones heart was gone. A small grin and a well concealed chuckle were the only response the seasoned veteran gave to the outburst.

To Nao's credit though he composed himself quickly, though Yong could see the fire so recently absent in his friend once more kindled to life. As the Sennin listed the possible times for such a momentous injury to occur without his notice.

"I think your assumption was correct my friend... The scales on your chest are you body protecting an injury it cannot possibly heal. The fact that the scales were present in the Forest implies that the injury had already occured previously, which, extrapolating from your memory, only leaves Crater City as the location for the injury to have occured..."

Then Nao asked the important question, a question that had already crossed the missing ninjas mind... Why Nao's heart? If they had had the dragon at such disadvantage why has they not simply killed him? Was the intent to control through magic? Through blackmail? Through torture? Or was it simply the deranged request of a noble somewhere to taste the heart of a dragon? Then why the clockwork?!

There were too many unknowns right now, and there was only one way to find out more... Yong could see the fear and shock in his friends eyes, unfortunately comfort had never been the shinobi's skills, he had left the emotional stuff to Migoya... Wherever his uncle was now he was sure the old man's silver tongue was serving him well...

"Do not allow panic to cloud your logic Lord Nao... You are the last Sennin of Fire, you let live because they mean to manipulate you..."

It was a guess... It's what he would do...

"...they have seen your isolation in the corpse of a village, seen your frustration and desperation to hold the remnants of the once great pride of the Village Hidden in Leaves, now turned to commerce and greed. Turned away from the heart of what Konohagakure was before the bastardisation and ravaging of the sacred place... They saw this poison had weakened you, saw your heart as a power to be taken... As a power to be controlled. They will not let you die because they kept you alive and went through great pains to hide your injury from all but the closest inspections, even from you..."

He let his own feelings come through in a rare show of negative emotion, frustration... They had stolen the heart of the last true Lord of Fire... Literally...

"But do not let this dishearten you my friend, just minutes ago I saw your will of fire sputtering against the wind of despaired but now, only a few breaths later I see the fire burning once more simply at the knowledge that all is not well, that you feel this way because you have been wronged. Already I see the dragon rising to take it's rightful place.

Who... Who was with you in crater city... We will start by questioning them. Whoever is guilty of this sin must have some skill, I would not expect your companions memories to remain untampered with... Unless of course you suspect one of them? In which case I would suggest we visit them first so as to not warn them of our approach..."

Yong began to move towards the village propped as if he belonged there, completely momentarily oblivious to the fact he still had a kill on sight order next to the old photo of him in the Leaf Bingo book... He had a mission now, he was off to find the heart of a dragon!

"Time is of the essence my friend, tell me where we are going on the way!"

[Ooc - changing to a requesting peaceful entry, I will stick to topics with Nao if allowed in unless someone else specifically requests a topic whilst I'm here :)]

The dragon looked toward his friend with a panicky gaze, and he heard the words of him too right after. To not panic... How does one not panic when they are met with this fate? Yes, he was the only sennin right here and right now, but this was too much one should handle on their own. "Why... manipulate.. what is there to gain?" He questioned out loud, puzzled and a little defeated. Why not just grab the kids? Those were worth more for him...

He did have a point... Even this was hidden from him, but as to why was something they did not hold any remarks for. "Tsk..." He sounded and leaned on his knee as he looked at Yong.

As to what and where... Nao started to think. "That mission..." You would see him think. "It was a warehouse... Lot of secret tunnels... There was this one person there when I woke up. A lady..." He tried his best to remember all the details. There was one person really pressing on the matter that he was ill, that he should take it easy. But why..? He was shaken from his thoughts as he saw his friend walking to the gates. "oi..." Nao sounded soft as he already saw the guards getting ready in his mind.

"Oi oi...!" He would quickly get up and rush over. "Ahoka.." He muttered to his friend and left a small smile. It was difficult to admit... But he needed this, someone who was there for him after all this time. "At first.. let's go to my house, set base." He would comment and once at the gates, he would explain the situation, leaving out his bloodline or his heart. Just that he was taking yong in. as he wanted to pay respects to those who had fallen. And that he would remain with Nao the entire time.

With that, and a whole lot of paperworks. Yong got the wooden chakra token as a sign that he was now inside the gates. "This at least shows that you are signed in for Hidden leaf... It is a new method and effective. For now... let's get to my home."
