Iirai has been always in touch with music and sound since he was a young boy. His parents found his rhythm was the first thing to develop even before his speech and walking. He was able to tap beats and rhythms, and when he was able to talk he quickly learned to sing, so they pursued this and helped him develop into learning instruments. Starting with simple and small instruments like the ocarina, and moved onto violin, guitar, and flute. At the same time they felt it was their duty to send him to the academy to prepare to serve the village. From this he learned to develop putting his interest and his service together and finding a way to channel simple wind and sound jutsu through his instruments.

He grew up learning music and develop his interest in scores of music by local and foreign artists and composers, as well as learning to write some of his own as well. Over time, with his work at the academy and then in his mission group he found his calling of using sound and wind to create some powerful effects and jutsu to succeed in missions.
As he grew up he became more trusted and started working towards helping the village in anyway he could. He joined the medical team and found an enjoyment in helping patients recover as well as learning how to use his music for therapy and rehab. This gave him insight into the human mind as well as a chance to practice his music even in work.
