After the deed was done, the kunoichi quietly observed Shizuka's portion of the task. Unsurprisingly, the girl had a bit of hesitation about the necessity of killing the rabbit. It was nice to see someone here had a heart. Although, Suika suspected her sensei wouldn't be too thrilled with the girl's momentary disobedience. Having done a similar exercise in the past, it was obvious to her that this was an obedience test of some sort. Eishi seemed to grasp that earlier, but she doubted that he understood the concept of what “obedience” was in its entirety. Suika's expression slowly grew half-lidded as the one-armed boy engaged in a type of banter with their red-headed instructor.
He persisted.
It was apparent, at this point, that Kyo was frustrated with the Nanjirou's attitude. Suika, being Eishi's teammate and friend, was numb to it, but she definitely recognized how irritating his brashness could be to many. As the two continued to bicker, she couldn't help to feel a little annoyed herself. Their game of ping-pong was a waste of their breath and effort and, most importantly, her and the Senju's time. Suika tapped her foot impatiently as her dead rabbit lied lifelessly in her arms.
First and foremost, she awaited Shizuka's response out of courtesy for the girl. Once the student complied (or not) with their instructor's order, Suika would follow suit with her own plan of action. Abiding by Kyo's earlier demand, the kunoichi tossed the slain rabbit at Eishi's feet. Her magenta eyes, although usually calm, exuded a calloused frigidity. Her tone was direct and simple.
“Eishi, Cottontail. Cottontail, Eishi. Believe it or not, you two have three big things in common.” Suika held up her fingers in a gestural display. “One, both you and that rabbit are at the mercy of your superiors. As I was his master, so is Kyo-sensei to you at this very moment. It is foolish, no, deadly to ignore that hierarchy. Even you're not that dense, Eishi-kun.” The Genin didn't hold back as she continued her verbal onslaught. “Two, you're both very much expendable. Cottontail is gone and life resumes for me as normally. So would your death in the eyes of the village. You boast accolades and showcase your prodigious talent, but don't be so naive to think you're irreplaceable in terms of sheer ability.” Her mouth curved into a slight grin. Typically, she didn't aim to be so harsh, but she knew Eishi could handle it. He wasn't so sensitive to be knocked down by a few reprimanding words. Hopefully, however, he would learn something by it. “Three, and last point, Eishi-kun. Just like Cottontail, even death will shut you up one day. Perhaps discretion should be well-considered before then?” She placed a fist on her side as she held her hand out. “Don't take this too personally, Eishi-kun. All I'm saying is to shut your trap.”
She then shifted herself to the rest of her group. The tenseness that built in her throughout the whole fiasco now subsided as her demeanor appeared loosened. “My apologies, Kyo-sensei and Shizuka-san.” It was in that moment, too, that she realized she might have gone too overboard in correcting her one-armed friend. Though, if Suika cared any less for Eishi, she would have simply remained silent and have allowed the situation to proceed in its foreseeable route. For his sake, and for the whole party's, she made the decision to intervene. Her senses warned her, too, that Kyo was not one to meddle with. There was an aspect about him, perhaps deriving from his subtle, yet feral aura, that warned her to tread lightly. In a sense, her reproof was to also defuse a possible time-bomb and shield Eishi.
I mean, the boy needed to learn to tighten his lips, too. Hopefully her own actions weren't too disruptive over Kyo's goals for this lesson.
