The sun was finally dipping below the horizon, casting deep purple, and orange light upon the village. This was Yuki's favorite time of the day, when the village starting settling in for the night. Yuki could feel the warm breeze picking up speed, and knew a storm would be rolling in tonight. Yuki loved storms, even as a baby she found them oddly soothing. She enjoyed the way the thunder reverberated through the earth, and how the lightning cast the world into momentary daylight.
Yuki hopped off her fence, and began to run towards one of Mist's sandy white beaches. Yuki could feel the air starting to get prickly, as she picked up her pace towards the rolling dark waters. Arriving a few moments later, she smiled as the first strikes of lightning came into view. She smiled sitting herself down on the cooling sand, watching as the golden white bolts cracked at the waters. She knew she could only stay awhile as her mother would be calling her home soon, Yuki wasn't fond of her curfew but her dad has convinced it's extension once Yuki started the academy. Yuki let out a sigh as she let the anticipation of her first day of school roll over her, much like the waters ahead. She was excited to begin, and to meet the other students.
The wind picked up it's speed and at a moments notice rain started to pour from the heavens. Large sloppy drops pounded the sandy beaches, and found their way to Yuki's head. Shaking the hair away from her eyes, Yuki jumped up and started her slow walk home. She would take her time, letting the rain pour over her, refreshing her; making her feel alive and excited.
As Yuki walked putting the deep oceans further in the distance, she felt the tiny hair's on her arm stand up as lightning struck close by. She didn't jump, didn't flinch, it's almost as if the strike was welcoming.
That's the tiny thought that always bothered little Yuki. The feeling that those storms were always calling to her, beckoning Yuki to join in the thunderous roar of the lightning, of the black storm.
