The Sky was clear of all clouds, Clear light blue painted the horizon... At least what could be seen through the canopy of the trees around. The air was still, not a hint of wind in sight. The sun beamed against Sabaku's face through the leaves, seaming to give him better, higher mental clarity. It was a beautiful day... Sabaku sat atop a large branch leaning against the trunk of the tree for support. Gazing across the area, only a small handful of critters could be observed scampering about. Birds of song could be heard in the distance, while toads below croaked their bellowing croaks. It seemed Sabaku, The Guardian of Celerity, was alone in this area...
Being alone was something different for the young Guardian, though he did enjoy the few moments of solitude he was able to find. He took these moments to reflect on past missions or simply daydream of a brighter future. He was often told such daydreaming would warrant some sort of danger for the young man, but no such luck had befuddled him yet. Luck always seemed to be on his side in life, twice now he had eluded death, and many a times serious injury. Perhaps it was less about his physical speed and more his own spirit willing himself to move faster than death could attempt to move towards him.
As the day moved forward, Sabaku found himself becoming restless. He needed something to do before he wound up going crazy with boredom... This forest was nice, but it would have been nice to had one of his comrades come along to race with. Sabaku's speed was one to behold, as he often was able to keep up with his superiors speed despite the fact that Sabaku was so much younger and inexperienced. It wasn't as if he bragged about it, it just happened to be something that he excelled at and therefore embraced and accepted it, nurturing it.
Sabaku sat up from his branch and began to scan the forest floor and beyond for perhaps sometime he could try and catch. Perhaps a rabbit? They were fast... but often caught by bigger prey faster than themselves... He would need to wait a while in the hopes that a bigger and faster opportunity would show itself. It was then that he saw movement in the brush ahead. Perhaps a creature size enough to bother the environment around it could be a test of his speed and put an end to his boredom.
Immediately Sabaku begun his chase, ducking a weaving through the undergrowth. The animal seemed to be keeping pace with his own speed. It seemed that whatever it was, Sabaku needed to actually try a little to catch this thing... Clearing a ridge he came upon a small pond in the middle of a clearing. Freezing in place, he scanned the area. Despite his Anbu training, he could see no sign of whatever it was that he had been chasing this whole time. Well... at least he got a little excitement out of the day, the area seemed nice enough so Sabaku sat at the edge of the pond and watched the tiny critters swim about the shallow depths of the water. The day was still nice and warm, and the still pond mirrored that even stiller sky. This moment of peace and stillness brought about a sensation of calmness to the area. Here Sabaku would wait for whatever adventure might walk his way.
