After breaching the village gates Kiko had moved with haste in the direction of the Hokage’s most likely location, to which simple deduction now pointed her to the tallest building in the village hidden in the leaves…the Hokage tower.
She moved like a ghost, her Sunan disguised puppets sealed away until they were required again, for now though she required stealth rather than the ultra violence displayed at the gates. The small patrols of village shinobi did not seem to be on edge yet, word of her slaughter at the gates having not yet reached them.
Now, as she could see the target building in front of her she found her progress slowed by a small group, far more on allergy than the groups she had bypassed before them. She now stopped deathly still, like only a human puppet could, her inhuman eyes rapidly taking in each detail of the small group. The squad consisting of three younger looking shinobi, mid to late teens, and a much older Jounin, obviously the squad leader and the reason for the youngsters alertness.
“Stay vigilant, the lives of the villagers may depend on it.”
Kiko hugged the shadows above them, her dark chakra flowed through her wooden body, causing an overcharged form of Active Camouflage to hide her presence from the unaware group. Each of the young shinobi scanned the dark area, blindly overlooking her concealed position, though one of the shinobi’s eyes strayed to long on hers before the young man turned to his squad leader, tapping him on the head with the back of his hand. Had she been seen?
“There is nothing there Sensei, though the mannequin did catch me off guard. Ha, clever.” The older shinobi turned to question the young man when his headset crackled into life, a static laden voice crackling over the airwaves.
“This is Sennin Soku. I need every available shinobi at the gates, there has been an attack. Engage emergency protocols."
The squad leader instinctively reached his hands onto the handle of the large blade slung across his back before the message had finished. Too late did he notice the shadows descend down on him, bladed hands sinking elbow deep into the older shinobi’s chest cavity through a gap in his shoulder armor. The man looked startled at his students for a second before sputtering out his last word in this world with a shocked realisation.
“Run!”
The shadow figure lifted its head unnaturally, as the now deceased shinobi slumped lifeless to the ground, a wet, sucking noise accompanied the gravity assisted removal of her hand from the corpse, visceral chunks slopping to the floor from her fingertips. The shadow swayed strangely, gleaming red eyes standing out through the shifting silhouette of the camouflaged marionette. The mouth split open like a hinge joint covered in wet tar, distended jaw closing and opening though not quite in time with the words it now spoke, at first in a feminine, monotone voice though rapidly changing through pitch until it settled on a voice startlingly similar to that of their recently inhumed squad leader…
“No don’t run… I will make it hurt if you run.”
Almost on queue the three young shinobi of Konoha ran…
She made it hurt…
Primal screams of pain echoed through the quiet village, a trio of synchronised agony, then cut off in sudden unison. Once more Konoha soil tasted the blood of Leaf shinobi, the dismembered and eviscerated bodies lay scattered unceremoniously where the pieces had fallen. Just as the killings at the gates, this was a message to Konoha, and if all went to plan, Suna would get the blame.
Now to find the Hokage and take her head.
