While Kumogakure was the De Facto capital of shinobi life within the Lightning Country, it was by no means the only powerful settlement within the Country. Raiden’s Eye, situated within the lowlands of the Lightning Country, and of course in the perfect location for hundreds of thousands of people to live amongst the capital. Including the most powerful politicians. With politicians, they had to be appeased to allow the constant flow of wealth going towards such a dangerous neighbour such as Kumogakure.
That’s where our story began, with Hajime the attaché completing his assignment to send a delegation to the Shogun’s palace. Alongside his escort that was to take him were a number of fellow Chuunin and Genin to keep him safe. While he was decent enough to hold himself the extra protection would also show the strength of the village to people of Raiden’s eye. While their numbers were significantly smaller and sporadically changing, the Shinobi world was always an important teammate to the political world, and they needed to know.
The Chuunin was done with the message and discussions, instead now carrying a new message to take back to Kumogakure. It was to be delivered personally back to the Raikage, including new mission requests, threats and concerns, and information that the city had on foreign delegation. Important documents were kept close to him, sealed within a document, sealed within a scroll, sealed within another scroll, and then attached inside his robe for safekeeping. Security was a primary concern after all.
The empath had actually managed to learn a lot about the political structure of Raiden’s Eye, and by meeting some of the delegates he had gained some feelings. From meeting the delegates Hajime had learned to feel calmness and cheer. From his fellow shinobi, he had learned what it was like to feel awe from how magnificent the city had been. But he had to get away from all this feeling stuff. While yes the buildings were something to probably behold structurally it didn’t really mean to be feeling so star struck.
He walked alone in the streets of the city, finding himself getting lost among the merchant's stores in the market area of the city. Peddlers trying to push goods on people with trinkets and baubles from around the world. Homemade knick-knacks and gadgets for those interested in “rustic” items. Nothing really grabbed his attention, but then again hardly anything ever made him feel compelled to buy… mostly because the thought of feeling of being compelled was not there.
“You sure you don’t want to buy a digit spinner?” Called out one of the sellers, as they had a cart full of spinning tops and actually nothing else. The price on the shop had dropped from thousands of yen and crossed out many times to end up in the hundreds. He just tried to politely decline, despite hearing the more desperate pleas to try and guilt him into buying one… but he hadn’t learned what guilt was so it didn’t actually bother him.
There were all sorts of strange and wonderful items around the bazaar, things that he could bring back to Kumogakure, and simply keep as a memory of where he had been. After all, he hadn’t really decorated his apartment since he had moved in. Something had to really give him that idea of where it could go in his house. Though in his mind it was more of a practical use rather than feeling it was a good purchase. The feeling of being intrigued or the feeling of satisfaction from a purchase had never cropped up yet in his daily life.
”I’m sure I could find maybe… a shelf or something?’” He thought out loud, his scattered-brain just kept wandering along and looking at the different stalls. ”No… no signs of a shelf, or bookcase or anything… but how would I even get that home?”
He would keep talking out loud, not really feeling the shame of others hearing his thoughts as he wandered from store to store, denying their peddling. Marketing ploys had no effect on someone so oblivious to obvious guilt trips or temptations. As long as he focused on the items then he wouldn’t have any threat of being conned. But he had all day to look through the bazaar, it wasn’t like he had something like an important scroll from the Shogun’s palace with him or anything…
