Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Miyako is... distracted. Disgusted, even. You see, her neighbor in this culinary escapade was a foul little creature. Mashing and gnashing with unwashed hands and unsanitary utensils at random vegetables from the fridge. He didn't even use the cutting board! The chaotic clang of iron reverberating against the table itself drowning out every single thought in her head. She could only stand there, looking in absolute bewilderment as this strange, scary boy acted out his own unfathomable ritual. What is his problem?? She almost wanted to ask, if she could have mustered the courage. The thought of poking a frightening beast that she could only assume crawled out of some dark abyss, like one of Utsumi's cards, would likely end in the same way as in said card game - staring down a neon 0 Life Point sign.

The ding of a timer awakens the bunny from her macabre trance, scrambling to remove the last serving of chicken from the fryer, when she notices Utsumi stamp down for attention. Her savior! Utsumi had sketched one of her adorable drawings that she's become so fond of. Miyako leans over, hand on her hips and twirling her hair as she giggles. ~I'll keep that in mind. I'm guessing please won't work on you right now, huh? He's so weird! And scary! I don't want you to go.~ She motions her arms as if she was wrapping the small girl in a warm embrace to capture her. ~By the way, I love the ears! I'm a little bunny rabbit! You're too adorable!~ There's no time to loiter about and chat with her friend. The timer waits for nobody and neither does Jinzo-sensei! She settles down at her station, a quick glance to the barbaric boy with a warmly, sly smile. "Please is the magic word, hmmmmm?"

"Excuse me, please~"
She calls out, reaching out for plates as she readies the chicken from both their stations, carefully placing them in a proper manner to encourage and assist the next person down the line. She was fairly confident that the chicken was cooked to perfection, well most of them. It was her first time and she is easily distracted, you see! None of them would be even close to the definition of burnt or tough to eat. A little crunchier perhaps, but still perfectly edible. She takes the last few moments tidying up her station, peering over in revolt at whatever mess lingered in the peripherals of her adjoining station. The scene of a crime to be sure. She'd skip over to Kino's station, taking note of his contribution. "I'm really excited to try out your sauce, Kino-kun! It looks super yummy!" A swift beaming smile and she's off again, bounding towards Keniwa to say hello again. "Hihi, Keni-sensei! I hope you enjoy the meal. I worked super hard on it. Hehe~ Oh, be sure to save Nom a bite for me, okay?"

Kino was hyper focused in the presentation of everything, making sure not only his but the others had presentable dishes as in his eyes this had become a group effort. Seeing the lack of effort in one particular front he let out a massive sigh and rolled his eyes, 'why even sign up if you're just going to do this?' He though to himself. He was putting sauce on the last plate when Miyako spoke to him and his tremble continued to shake the sauce for him. It made an interesting looking decoration though it was definitely not planned.

"Uh.. mhm thanks"

He stumbled his way around her and went to cleaning the stations quietly. He was done, all he had to do now was sit, wait, and avoid being any more awkward than he had been already.

Here's the thing with Sota; throughout his usual pandemoniums, he's easily distracted. Easily swayed by the coming and going. By a small twitch here, a faint happening there. In his peripheral he witnesses a new canvas across ruby dots. Under the witch's hat, he sees the color of distress. Whips his head, just to catch a real glimpse of it, make sure he's seeing right. And he is. She doesn't need to make noise for him to notice her. Doesn't need to attract focus when a boy's focus is directionless.

Before he knows it: ".............. yeah, ok, whatever, sure." Before he can calculate why. No reason is delivered behind the decision 'cause there's none. Just a need to do something — to fix what isn't right. At least in Sota's book. Yeah, okay. He'll help Miya. Whoever that was. (The crown on his character demands that much.)

The instructions, the smile, and the disgust-turned-smile directed his way is easily forgotten; forgiven. He pulls out a few forks (18, to be exact), and haphazardly scatters them across the bowls. Even the terribly strangled chirp of a bird is abandoned to the back of his mind. White noise, he decides. Has something more unforgiving on his mind. Lets Miyako meddle with his station 'cause he's forgotten entirely what their assignment started as.

Ba-dum. What was this feeling? Ba-dum. What was this feeling? Ba-dum. What was this feeling she had?

She peered over at her adorable sister and her - Sota, and she wavered maybe a second longer than was necessary after all instructions had been followed. Hehe, that was easy, wasn't it? She had gotten through to them. They were both so stubborn about so much, but they never really needed much wrangling, did they? They were good. They were good people. They were good to her. ... She was good. Ba-dum. So what was this brief sense of ache that passed in her heart? Could kindness make you sad? Could things you want - could they make you sad? She didn't think she was sad. How weird. How weird! You're being weird, Utsumi!

She closed her eyes in her little seat as they moved on to the final stages of preparation. Took a slow breath to center herself again on the assignment. Stuck her tongue out, at herself, in good measure. There wasn't much time remaining, but she had already envisioned the final project - and if Utsumi could sketch something in her head, she could make it real. In that way she does. She'd lift herself up, silent, and stride just as shadowlike through the various disarray to prepare each plate to necessity - and mix in the plates she had already set up, to be brought together in the finale. This little garnish was a prince. This slice of lemon was a rabbit. This cherry tomato was a sweetheart. This piece of chicken wanted to give them all a reason to be here. A sauce to bring it all together - an experience. She ringed everything close, connected, and used a touch of chakra on each ingredient to add a glow to the presentation. They all had a slightly different aura - all a different representation - and together, they made a vibrancy of hues.

"I only hope life is not too harsh on them, and that they are prepared when worst comes to worst. " The words hung in the air, giving Jinzo a chill that he couldn't quite put his finger on but he knew to be true. As Keni surely knew, the life of a shinobi came with a certain harshness that made moments like this fleeting. For all of the fun and quirky that this class was, there was the simple truth that there was a statistical probability that not all of his students today would make it to adulthood and not due to circumstances that were considered normal. Whether it was a battlefield abroad or even something as seemingly mundane as defending the village gates, these were the easiest days of their lives and they were none the wiser. Whatever the future brought, Jinzo had at least one job that was necessary, he would make sure that they knew how to make a decent meal! With all of the plates lined up and the tables immaculately set, he clapped his hands and beamed with pride. ~"Kino, Miyako, excellent jobs with stepping up to the plate...no pun intended!"~ He would pause to laugh before continuing. ~"Life and missions will often throw a monkey wrench into things but if you remain positive and stay focused, you'll often see them through to the end!"~

Turning to Sota, Jinzo shrugged before continuing to sign. ~"You my friend... keep channeling that defiance into something good. With a matching grit, you'll be a valuable ally."~ Going through additional students and providing feedback to them all, he finally got down to Utsumi. ~"Utsumi, never stop being the bright light that you are. You're thoughtful and insightful beyond your years. In time, you'll be a respected leader!"~ There was more that he could say but he didn't want to give the students egos any more of a boost. ~"The true test was to showcase your skills that could translate to outside of the kitchen and you all passed! Now let's dig in and see how good it all taste!"~ With no further words needing to be said, Jinzo reached out for the nearest drumstick and his face transformed from one of subdued skepticism to instant gratification. His eyes slightly rolling back, it didn't take words, spoken or signed, to understand the sight of a meal fully enjoyed. Pointing at the chicken in earnest, he beckoned all to enjoy! Though the class ended with a self inserted audible, Jinzo only hoped that the students realized just how fortunate a position that they were actually in. The next class likely wouldn't be so easy a thing to pass, but for each day, there would be a challenge, for today, there was chicken.

Keniwa watched as all the students hurriedly finished prepping all of their meals and dishes, and he couldn't deny that the aroma was certainly one that was fulfilling and delicious! He almost wanted to jump out of his seat to try a bite as Jinzo was finishing up the class it sparked his mind back to the start of all of this, and... he had a lot to think about. But right now the Kyoujouran was happy with the student's progress it seemed overall like a good lesson! And once all the semantics were over he would clap and congratulate the students himself. "It all looks wonderful! What a fine meal!!"

He dug his hand in to one of the side dishes his dear student had created, first pulling out a tomato without thinking all too much and shoving it in to his mouth with a large bite. Although... something was... completely wrong. His face turned practically green as he spat it out of his mouth at one of the unlucky students. Unfortunately and very undeserved that would be aimed at Miyako. "Urgh... Sota! How do you ruin a tomato! You know what, YOU try some!" Grabbing a piece of lettuce he'd skirt round the table trying to shove it in to Sota's mouth with a smile whilst grabbing a piece of chicken to dig in to himself. His face lighting up completely as the green complexion turned in to a bright pink. "Mm- A-amazing!"

Heh~ Heh~ Heh~ A smug sense of accomplishment for the brand new, self-anointed culinary master. A bit of a stretch, but Miyako was feeling great. The hard work and dedication to a fully realized team effort was something that Miyako had yearned for and despite not necessarily being a combat oriented challenge, it still instilled the proper lesson with an allegorical and quite delicious flavor. The pure joy of praise and recognition from Jinzo-sensei for a job well done was all she needed to come away from this fulfilled. To put it quite simply - It was fun. Fun in the purest sense of the word. To work alongside her classmates to create such mouthwatering, delectable fried chicken. The proper maiden turns to feral beast, snatching up a piece and dipping it into Kino's homemade sauce (ignoring Sota's monstrosity of a side dish). She hesitates a moment, only to savor in the aroma of herbs and spices and sinks her teeth into crunchy coated meat. "MMM! This is delicious! Really good work everybody~" She chirps, wiggling in place from sheer excitement. Surely, nothing could ruin this blissful moment.

And then Keniwa-sensei did the unthinkable - the unreasonable. He took the vile slop that Sota had mashed and chopped haphazardly with no regard for sanitation or the people that would eat his food and shoved it into his mouth. What did he think was going to happen?? Did he think that looked good? It's hard to fault a man so genuinely kind and compassionate with his students, but come on!! His face turns sour, green with distaste as he retches and spits out the tomato. It was out of a horror movie and who would be the lucky victim? Konoha's favorite little princess, of course!

She wipes the concoction of spit and pulpy red chunks off her face. A look of utter devastation darkening a previously glistening visage and walks out of the classroom without a single complaint or acknowledgment.

Sota's eyes trail after a silhouette. His mind absent from his own work, so he watches that of another's. Had decided that it was more fun than actually following class (Yes, that's all!). The mixture of elements (people) brought together in a plate (pun?) of chakra borrows his attention. Twists it. He doesn't want to laugh at it but — he snorts. Decides it looks stupid. Corny. Cute.

Cue the feedback. Goes around the group, comes to Sota, and — assuming Jinzo was complementing his muted words with unmuted ones — Sota decides to return the shrug. The praise hangs in the air; he lets it. Doesn't know what to make of it. Never needed to in the past. With one look swept over his results, he almost thinks to scoff. "Whatever you say, Teach." He did do his best, didn't he? Yeah, actually. He did —

Urgh... Sota!

A grin sparks up the corner of his lips. And, as a spark does, it quickly, quickly fades — "what? No, it's — AGH!" He's too slow to fall off his seat. Feels the green invade & destroy his sense of taste before he knows to avoid it, and then he hits the ground, and — fuck, he hates vegetables!!!!!!

She couldn't tell why, but she wasn't really hungry? She was happy, though. Jinzo-sensei had proven himself not just incredibly nice, but equally fun: she had silly classes, some serious ones, some thoughtful ones, but this was her first time really having fun with something, and the way she beamed back at Jinzo - bright-eyed, glowing smile - all but announced this. She brought her hands together for a twine of thought before they split and tapped back together. It was a soft clap, designed to praise their teacher yet not draw too much attention. Her head tilted over and to the side as she did, continuing to grin over the motion while locks of black waterfell down her expression. Hehehe, said her smile, her light applause and the gentle shaking of her shoulders. Thank you! and this was a tangible sign, her hands moving to make sure the point was taken. She would end this with a bow; jittery, almost, with the way her shoes danced along the floor.

She was just in time, with the lift of her head, to see Miyako-nee thoroughly unfortunate by the actions of their other? teacher. She would look over with mouth agape, shock first registering in lotus red before subsequent blinks found it colored en joy. The rapid exhalations from her nose were, regrettably, laughter at Miyako's expense, and her princess of a sister did not stick around to so much as chide her or the man of the mess himself. Oh, dear. XP She should probably hurry after her, covering her broad-toothed mouth to stifle the airy sound. She would do her diligence: a wave and bow to Kino, with a promise to catch him later, and one of respect to Keniwa: a final, again, to Jinzo, if only so that he knew the impact he had today.

Ah, but.
Ah, uhm.

She stumbled over her signing when she glanced over at Sota, fingers twitched against her palm and her eyes softening until she felt she might fade into the color of the scene herself. She watched him on the ground, exclaiming, stricken - all the funny things she found about him, and she could only quirk her lips in a sunbeam through clouds. A brush of digits along her hand and she formed a seal, her next breath out expanding until it encompassed beneath his agitated form and helped - if not fully alone - lift him to his feet, only for her to scamper seconds later with only the cascading wave of her hand left in afterimage.

Kino stayed behind a little bit, to make sure the entirety of the dishes were cleaned, put away, and that the surfaces were prepped for the next batch of folks coming through. Mostly though, he just wanted to be in here a moment longer, to feel like himself just a minute more. It was few and far between lately that he got to truly enjoy his time and this had been just that. He truly had a smile on his face, not awkward not brooding, just happy for the first in a long time. He didn't touch the food however, Kino just wasn't hungry after all the work they had put into it. Once everything was done, he'd hang his towel up and hit the road the same as the rest.
