Suyashi had learned much about his battles over the last decade of his life, and fighting with the most girth didnt help when he couldnt use the full library of jutsu he'd learned over the years. So, he made it a mission that he would focus himself on his ninjutsu training to be on par with his Taijutsu, or at least his close combat training. Though, he needed more chances to give himself before thinking he would be able to enhance himself that much... but that training made him put aside his endurance training a bit. It wasnt that bad... but he could have used the time. Alas, he had more jutsu to use to prevent himself from getting hit too bad. So... he would make due.

Taking heed that he'd dip more into his ninjutsu ability, but Suyashi was trying to push his chakra more... and in him pushing, he would become more volatile to most people aside from Minako. His skin held high traces of static electricity. His Storm chakra and even the Vapor Jutsu he used became more potent. He was freezing people in place more so than before. It was so bad that he began wearing chakra gloves but for some reason it didnt work on Minako. Whether she was used to it? Or he subconsciously was able to turn it off with her, he didnt know... but it was nice to have his abilities heightened at least.
Learning Weapon Mastery (Unarmed):
After his bout with Kaori, Suyashi realized that his literal hand to hand combat training had been lacking. So he would go about learning every single technique that was known in the library of jutsu available to him. Becoming a Master of Hand to Hand combat in the matter of a week, but how did he do it? His body was already preconditioned for Taijutsu. All Taijutsu were at his disposal. He was a genius with any blade, blunt object, and now his hands were certified weapons. So much so that he had to get them registered like many boxers in the sport.
Learning Willpower:
The fight he had with Kaori opened his eyes, he realized he couldnt keep ignoring genjutsu. He had to learn a defense for it. And he would study for days after his unarmed training thinking about things... there was no concrete way of blocking Genjutsu aside from having a strong enough mind to ward off the mental probing. So he would take that approach, pushing his mind to the limit he would train himself against constant genjutsu attack... but the best way he thought about everything to place mental blocks in his mind to give himself an internal defense against things that would look to turn him against his comrades or himself. His very will power placed Mental Guards up for him... that would have to work until he figured out a better way...

His jutsu were becoming better... so Suyashi thought to change his thought process to expand his jutsu even more. Unarmed jutsu one week, Genjutsu defense another week, and now... Thrown Taijutsu. He used to use this as a kid, but when his eyes went bad he had to rely on his nose and hearing. which he had mastered so much that he could use them as another set of eyes. He couldnt see very far, so he managed to use his hearing and sensory abilities to push his sight better, which caused him to be off the mark slightly with his thrown jutsu, but with minor tweaks to his weaponry he would be able to use them at a closer proximity leaving the spacing between throwing and melee close enough where he would be able to shut down attackers. It worked better than his lightning jutsu... who knew though it would all have to be placed in practice. And with practice he would expand his jutsu range to be that on par with many Sennin and maybe even the Hokage. Suyashi was prepping himself to be more than before... more than anyone from his generation. Those one track minded fools...
