Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The thundering that had shattered reality died away as abruptly as it had begun. The cacophony of snapping wood and screaming insects retreated into a hollow and ringing echo that pulsed for a few lingering seconds before fading into a heavy and absolute silence.

The darkness peeled away to reveal a familiar sight. The forest edge remained but the oppressive weight of the ritual was gone. The alchemical circle had vanished and it left only the natural and damp soil of the forest floor and village boarder fence. The five pillars of chakra that had dominated the sky were nowhere to be seen. It was a normal night with the air cool and the trees whispering in a gentle breeze. Yet the peace felt wrong, like a hollow imitation of the world she had just been standing in.

Then she would notice her, figure stood only a few paces away.

The woman was tall and stood roughly five feet and eight inches. She was draped in similar gear to what Mitsuha was wearing, perhaps even the same. She watched with a tilted head and a look of genuine and clinical curiosity. Since Mitsuha had only recently inhabited this body and had not yet found a mirror she might have felt a jarring disconnect from the person in front of her but it was her exact double. Looking at this person was like looking at a stranger who possessed a hauntingly familiar aura if not yet a familiar face.

The double did not wait for a reaction. With a fluid and practiced grace she shifted, her feet slid into the dirt and her hands came up with palms open and fingers slightly curved. It was the exact and unfamiliar fighting stance that Mitsuha’s own body had instinctively taken in the real world. It was a perfect marriage of Gentle Fist’s poise and draconic tension.

The doppelgänger’s eyes were sharp and searching as they locked into their targets. The silence of the clearing was broken by a quiet and melodic voice, somehow familiar, that vibrated with a strange oracular quality.

"Are you real?"

Ooc: actions please, 10ap, all your existing buffs can be active, up to you! And most importantly make sure your profile is up to date as i am pulling your stuff from there :)

It was quiet.... Too quiet... She got up and looked up to the sky. No menacing chakra pillars arcing towards the center of the Forest. This was more alarming to her than anything else. She seen no undead rabbit nor any of its choking black chakra. With her Byakugan active.... Yes, now she is remembering from the many different books that she has read, the DNA traces of this body must have Hyuuga blood running through it. She still had her claws equipped along with she was able to get into the stance once more.

She wouldn't recognize the face. But she knew the clothing. It was the exact clothing that she frantically threw on before grabbing Otami and rushing her to the medic tent. The figure before her took the same stance as her. This was the actual first time that Mitsuha got a good look of her own face, albeit, it is on an entity that she assumes wants to kill her. Half black, half purple hair with white highlights... Wait... are those white highlights or is it part of her actual hair? She shook the thought out of her head as she focused.

And then a question was asked. "Are you real?" Her eyes narrowed to look into the heterochromia two colored eyes of her double. Down to even her personality too, huh? The Jounin would no doubt ask questions and gauge who someone is if they seem strange or otherwise an unknown factor to her.

"If you are meant to be everything that I am, then you already know that I am real. But I suspect that you won't let me out of this alternate reality." Her own body would tense as she would ready herself for a fight.

(dunno how you want me to do it, so I'll just put my actions here and leave it up to the dice gods to decide)

The silence of the dreamscape was shattered as both figures channeled their chakra into the environment. The doppelgänger moved with a fraction of a second more haste and it sent a spiraling gale across the clearing to claim the territory. However the real Mitsuha’s Wyrmwind surged with a superior and draconic intensity. Her wind did not just meet the double’s gale but it consumed it and it twisted the atmosphere until the entire clearing belonged to her. (Doppelgänger won the faceoff for same timing but you won the vs ninjutsu check so your wormwind is up)

Through the howling wind Mitsuha lunged with her Dragon Assault. Her blue claws were aimed with surgical precision at the double’s tenketsu chakra points but the target was no longer there. In a sudden explosion of dark smoke and cawing ravens the double utilized Flock of Shadows (a technique you don’t have). The strike passed through a cloud of black feathers and the double vanished into a series of flickering clones that scattered across the battlefield. (Doppelgänger activated auto dodged Dragon Assault using Flock of Shadows)

Mitsuha did not hesitate. She pivoted and used her momentum to lash out again, sending a secondary and swifter strike into the heart of the flock. Two of the shadow clones popped into wisps of dark smoke as her claws tore through them and then she found the solid weight of the real doppelgänger. The connection was made but the double was already in motion with its own Dragon Assault. As Mitsuha’s claws raked the double the entity’s own scaled hand slammed into Mitsuha in a perfect and violent trade. (Full hit for both of you)

The air grew heavy as the Flurry of Blows began. Mitsuha’s hands blurred into a rhythmic series of strikes aimed specifically at the double’s arms to disable its ability to form seals. The first two strikes connected with a dull thud and they forced the double’s guard back. However the third strike whistled through the air as the double twisted its torso with an unnatural grace. (Hit, hit, miss - the rest miss automatically due to the technique used)

The double did not waste the opening. It launched its own Flurry of Blows in return and its hands moved in a mirror of Mitsuha’s style. The strikes were heavy and they were aimed with the same clinical intent at her own limbs. The clearing was filled with the sound of scales grinding on scales and the sharp snap of the Gentle Fist style as both combatants began to feel the weight of their own techniques turned against them. (Hit, hit, miss)

Blue scales were torn and the white highlights of their hair whipped in the Wyrmwind as they stood locked in the center of the storm. The double looked through the chaos with its two colored eyes and it waited for the next movement in their shared dance of destruction.

(Ooc: actions the same as yours… except the flock of shadows. What you gonna do now?)

Mitsuha would take a deep breath. This thing was copying her moves to the exact moment that she uses them. Outside of that particular move with the crows, everything was nearly the same. Her own Wyrmwind whipping up the air around the two combatants.

"Tell me," She started, "What do you fight for? Truly?" She would wait for the copy to answer her question before she spoke once more, "This doesn't have to end in bloodshed if this reality truly means something to you. I just want to find a way out of here to save the people of Leaf."

She kept her eyes on the copy as she would ready herself for another attack. "If you truly are like me, then you know that I won't stop until I can get back to my reality."

Looking up at the eerily calm night sky in contrast to the hellish landscape that she was put under, she looked back at the copy. "If you had similar experiences to me, then you know that we almost died trying to stop something from happening to the people of Leaf. That we were willing to risk it all against something we know nothing about. Mitsuha." Saying her own name to something or someone that wore the same face as her felt weird, but she continued on, "If you continue to try and stop me from going back to my reality, can you live with the fact that you have doomed countless citizen lives that I would have tried to save if I wasn't stuck here?"

Her eyes studied the copy, wondering what is going through its head. "But if there is no other way to get through to you.... You leave me with only one other option..." Chakra swirled around her, but she would give the copy a decision. Help her get out of here, or continue the fight.

The confrontation between Mitsuha and her reflection reached a point of biting clarity. As the Wyrmwindhowled around them the double did not just reject Mitsuha's plea for the village but it began to systematically dismantle the very hope she clung to.

The reflection stepped through the swirling gale and its movements were a haunting mimicry of Mitsuha’s own grace. It leaned in close and its voice was a low and venomous rasp that seemed to vibrate directly inside Mitsuha’s mind.

"The whole village?" the double laughed. The sound was hollow and brittle like breaking ice. "Look at you. You can barely save your own breath in this clearing and you think you can carry the weight of every soul in the Leaf? You speak of duty as if it is a shield but we both know it is the chain that has been dragging you toward the grave since the day you first tied that protector around your head."

The double circled her and its eyes remained fixed on Mitsuha’s own.

"They don't want to be saved by a monster who smells of scales and ozone. They fear you. When they look at you they don't see a hero but they see a weapon they hope never goes off. You spent so long as a literal puppet for others to pull the strings that you have forgotten how to be anything else. Even now with your own skin back you are still just acting out the role they carved for you. You want to go back to a reality where you are a tool for a people who would discard you the moment you stop being useful? That is not heroism... it is a lack of imagination."

The reflection gestured toward the endless and stagnant mist of the dream world.

"This is the only mercy. This is the place where you can finally stop pretending. Why go back to a village that only remembers your name when there is blood on the ground? Why die for a shadow when you can live forever in the light of this perfect lie?"

The "Talk-no-Jutsu" did not just fail but it acted as the spark for a more violent escalation. As Mitsuha’s chakra flared in defiance the double matched the intensity. The two collided in a flurry of Suplexes and Grapples. The ground beneath them cracked as Mitsuha drove her reflection into the dirt only for the double to vanish into a burst of lightning and reappear behind her.

The Chidori Senbon hissed through the air like a swarm of angry hornets and each needle of blue light was intercepted by a mirror of the same technique. Mitsuha’s fingers blurred as she struck for the double’s tenketsu. Each time she found only air or the hard and unyielding resistance of a perfectly timed parry.

In a moment of simultaneous instinct both Mitsuha and her double released a massive surge of chakra. They both spun into an Eight Trigrams: Palm Rotation. Two massive domes of revolving energy collided with the force of a tectonic shift, a rotating flurry of blows too fast for the eye to follow. The air screamed as the opposing rotations ground against one another until the pressure reached a breaking point.

An explosive shockwave erupted from the center and it slammed both combatants backward. Mitsuha skidded across the broken ground and she hunched over while coughing up a spray of dark blood that stained the misted earth. Across the clearing the double regained its footing with a predatory smoothness. It reached up and it slowly wiped a smear of blood from its own mouth with the back of its sharp claw.

With a grim realisation Mitsuha would realise the double was getting slightly faster, her movements occurring maybe a fraction of a second before her own. The double watched her with a hungry and knowing gaze as it tasted the metallic tang of their shared injury.

It was only a matter of time…

Ooc: Oh no! What you gonna do?
