Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Tsuki knew his time in this world would likely come to an end far too soon. From the torture of his birthplace to the dangers his bloodline was likely to cause him, the other half of himself that wanted nothing but carnage. It was a difficult reality to face, but after a while he just got used to it. The world was a dangerous place, and pieces of him made him a dangerous person.

Did I ask for this?

No.

Do I deserve this?

Maybe.

He remembered these words from a dream, the first night he fell asleep in the safety of Nao's home, his newly gifted bedroom. Tsuki had believed he'd been looking in a mirror at the time, but it was likely his first interaction with his other half. He didn't understand it back then, being merely a child, but those two questions, and their respective replies, always sat with him uncomfortably. Tsuki didn't think it was something Keiko would want to expand on, but if all of his interactions have proved anything, it was that he never truly knew how Keiko would respond.

"Keiko? Could I ask you something?" Tsuki was met with silence, which was disappointing, but he continued with his inquiry anyway. "When we first got here, and I fell asleep in this room, I had a dream. Or well, I thought it was. But I think it was you I was talking to." He relayed his dream just as he remembered it, then closed his eyes. "What did you mean by 'maybe'? That I deserve this?"

You really want to assume that some weird ass dream you had about a mirror just had to be me talking to you? I don't know what the fuck happens when this body falls asleep. If anything, I end up getting up on my own a little while later.

This was quite a new bit of information. "You wander when I sleep?"

Silence again, for a moment. No.

"I'm trying to get to know you. You know, like we should be doing? Ask me questions too, if it makes you feel better." Tsuki flopped back onto his mattress, opening his eyes to stare at the ceiling. "The only times we've seen each other face to face is when Asuka jumped into our head and when you got knocked out in that class."

What's your point?

"Don't you think it's kinda neat how, when neither of us are fighting for consciousness, we end up face to face? Who's to say that dreamlike state isn't just our subconscious interacting?" Silence once more, and Tsuki sighed. "Look, we both learned from that class that you and I won't make it very long. I don't have the killer instinct you do, and you are aggressive and uncontrolled. You could use my strategy as an advantage."

And?

"I was thinking of...making a deal with you. More equal trade, where you get an entire day to yourself so long as you let me tell you when you need to stop." Tsuki closed his eyes again. "So you can venture, train, study, kill animals on a hunting trip, make friends even. But in return, no more secrets. It isn't fair to either of us if we don't work together to take care of ourselves."

I've been taking care of you. You would be dead if it weren't for me.

"I know! But you don't have to protect me anymore. I need you to work with me, not for me." Tsuki slid off the bed, opening the closet. The left half was all pastel, things that Nao had gifted him. The right was Keiko's side, filled with black and red articles. "You have a nice wardrobe. We can switch that up too. On days you're out, you can wear what you want all day long. Eat whatever you want, whether or not it's healthy. Hell, I won't even say anything if you want to do some little illegal things, so long as it doesn't get us in too much trouble." Tsuki walked to the mirror, looking into his own eyes for a moment. "You don't have to hide away and kill things in our head. I'll research our bloodline, we can find better ways to help you with that need for carnage. I'll even...study Jashin. I just need you to be on the same team as me."

Fine. You have a deal.

Tsuki held to his word on his and Keiko's last conversation. He took to the libraries and started hunting for writings of Jashin. When asked about his endeavors, he simply explained it was a piece of his past that he wanted to better understand. He didn't want to cause trouble to himself, his adoptive father, or his home village by scaring them senseless about a new Jashinist growing up in their walls. He knew this was a risky endeavor, but he felt it would be beneficial if he at least understood Keiko a bit more.

His studies only led to more and more concern, however. This cult followed a horrific higher power that only sought carnage, bloodshed, visceral sacrifice. The more he read, the more horrified he became. Was this really what Keiko believed in? Was his other half just filled with murderous rage?

Keiko took his time out and about for fun, mostly shopping for more unique clothing items (and occasionally stealing, which he didn't tell Tsuki). He did start occasionally buying things he thought his other half would like, though. Little things here and there, like a lilac bracelet, or a white hoodie with pastel splatters of color across the entirety of it. Not things he would wear, most definitely, but things he thought Tsuki would like to have.

Tsuki often found himself questioning what Keiko's intentions were with the gifts, given he sometimes wasn't allowed to see whatever activities Keiko was up to. Are these stolen gifts? If I wore them in public, would I be snatched up for theft?

You know, when you start rabbling on in your head with all this paranoia, I can hear bits and pieces. It's really fucking annoying.

Tsuki jumped from the sudden chime of the voice in his head. "Ah, sorry. Can't help it. I've been reading a lot. Jashin is....something."

Jashin is the reason we are alive today. If it weren't for our lord opening my eyes to the blasphemy that church preached to its followers, you would likely be dead in that training room.

"Have you ever heard of trauma, Keiko?"

Of course I have. I'm not the one traumatized here, though. You are. That's why I exist.

"I know that. But that doesn't mean you weren't brainwashed by a cult, and the trauma I experienced had you attack that enemy to protect yourself, as well as me." Tsuki sighed, wringing his hands for a moment before picking up the hoodie. "You claim to be a follower of Jashin, a god who only wants carnage and bloodshed. And yet, you buy me gifts and try to surprise me with them? You have to understand this is hard for me to not overthink."

My relationship with Jashin is mine, and mine alone. My work for my lord is only what I believe is right to serve him. What good is torture if there's not death? We were never killed, only trained. They wanted to make us a weapon to use as they see fit, not to serve Jashin. That's why I killed the cult leaders. They wanted a weapon? They succeeded in making one. But I'm not here to be controlled by another man.

Tsuki sat down with the hoodie in his hands. "I don't really get it though...you listen to me."

You and I are a special case. And besides, we both realistically know that I have the most control here.

Tsuki knew he wasn't wrong in that statement; all it takes is a drop of blood to get Keiko going. Tsuki didn't stand much of a chance if he were to try to really control his counterpart. "I don't want to invade your personal beliefs, but does it pose any threat to the people I care for? The people of Konoha?"

The only time I would harm someone you specifically tell me not to is in the midst of a spar if they take it full strength, or if they were to betray us and need to be killed.

"You've gone after Nao in the past, more than once."

I know.

"Not anymore?"

Only if he betrays us.

"You like him, don't you?"

Silence.
