Re: Home Sweet Home [free]

Hito awake after taking a really long nap to find that it was daylight outside the cave, as he could tell via the small crack he left open at the entrance. He yawned, stretching his body, the amazing sensation of his muscles stretching making it a good morning to wake up to. Or, at least he thought it was morning. He had yet to find out what time of the day it was, being as he hadn't yet ventured outside his little cave dwelling. Getting up, bending over to stretch his back and loosen his body, he picked up his sword from the groove in the rock formation, and attached it back on his back where it belonged. He blinked, lazily, and looked around, small holes in the rock formation letting in dusty air. He yawned once more, a longer, louder yawn, and he stretched one final time, to make himself somewhat more awake. His mind groggily starting to function, he thought to himself
Welp, time to get this shit done for the day... By that, he meant search for food, gather wood for firewood, and find some fresh, long grass/leaves from the tropical trees to line his cave floor for bedding.
He took a few steps towards the cave entrance, laid a hand on the side of the rock wall, and grabbed the rock guarding and hiding the entrance. He moved it to the side, into a cut out in the rock formation fit for it, and rolled it back shut after stepping out of it. Once outside, he carefully moved the hanging moss out of the way, making sure not to trip over the wildly growing thorn bushes, and making doubly sure that he didn't leave anything behind noticeable to outsiders. He wanted to keep this area as secret and well kept as possible. Who knows, maybe he'd need it later for something other than visiting? Making sure that all was in order before leaving, he checked to see if there were fresh tracks or somewhat new animal trails on the ground, around him. Seeing none, he licked his finger, and stuck it in the air, feeling the breeze flowing south. So, with that notion, he turned south and began trekking along the hills, checking for the same features as before. He'd gather the food first, then the other necessities later. After all, he only had two arms to carry things with.
Stepping lightly, moving forward, eyeing for signs of life other than his, he spotted a large bear. Hito didn't need weapons for hunting, but it made him more comfortable to have them readily available. Crouching down, he snuck his way south, below the animal, so his scent wouldn't travel, and so he wouldn't be detected. That was Hunting 101. If you were noticed, the prey would be twice as aware as before, and would bolt at any small sound; or if they were a larger animal, they'd go hunting if they were hungry, or defend if they had babies. It was usually easy to tell which "role" they were going to do by the time you got close enough to be detected. Hito crawled forward, making his way to the bear. As he crawled, he heard a hiss, and upon looking to his right, he had crawled into a snake's resting area. He smiled, and deftly grabbed the snake as it lunged at him. His hand caught it behind the head, stopping it in place. Its head was triangle shaped, meaning it was poisonous. Slowly, as to not disturb the bear further up, Hito grabbed one of his chakra blades hidden in his shirt, and cut the head of the snake off, tossing it away from him. He left the body in his hands. He'd use it as bait for the bear to distract it.
Convenient, he thought. By this time, after crawling a little more, he was little more than 20 feet from the bear. Tossing the snake over his head, to hit a tree by the bear, he knew the bear would smell the blood of the animal and be curious to check it out. He took this time to get to his hands and knees, in order to run at the animal. As the bear turned from what it was doing, and went to look at what the sound was, Hito rushed in, and upon getting in physical range of the bear, he jumped onto its back, wrapping his arms around its neck, to try and begin to suffocate it to sleep and then death. As he began to apply pressure, the bear stood up, and roared, throwing him loose of his grip. Barely able to hold on as the bear thrashed about, he let go, and prepared for the attack from the bear, so he could counter it and overcome his target.
The bear roared at him, turning to look upon who the attacker was. As their eyes met, Hito himself would glare into the others eyes for a moment before watching as the bear moved towards him, swiping with its claws. Hito jumped back, poorly missing his timing, as he was looking at just how massive this bears claws and body was. He'd need a lot of time to haul it back to the cave... As he landed, he rushed back into the bear's reach, the one chakra blade still in his hand from the incident before with the snake. Hto would dodge back for every swipe the bear sent, biding his time to get in closer, to cause real harm to it. As the bear stood up for another roar, Hito took this moment to bum rush in, and send the blade slashing deeply into the bears neck, damaging the jugular and all with inside the neck area. As the bear bled out to death, he sighed, and placed his hands on his side, inhaling deeply, and releasing it into a long exhale. His adrenaline calming down, slowing, Hito cleaned his chakra blade, and placed it back in his shirt fold with the other.
Fuck, this is going to take forever to move. He chuckled to himself, now having enough meat for roughly a week. He'd find a way to keep it clean when he got it back to the cave.
Sizing the bear, he knew he had no way of lifting something that big and hauling it back by himself, so he sat, and thought. He COULD just pull it back, or he could just cut it up here, and leave the bones, and haul it back in pieces....
Decisions devisions... Making up his mind, he grabbed the front paws, and threw them over his shoulders. He'd drag it back, and make it look to other animals as if he was the bear, to avoid other confrontations while hauling his future meals back home. Struggling to keep walking with the heavy bear on his back, he took a long while to get back to the cave. Upon returning, he had to go through the procedures of getting back into the cave, but making it seem as if a large animal had roamed around, so he broke a few branches, and made a fat walk trail using the bear's body. He got the bear in the cave, and laid it down on the bare rock floor. Huffing, and out of breath, Hito still had to finish his job of making sure it seemed as if nothing were here. So, upon exiting the cave, he made a large "bear nest" in the blades of grass using his body to roll the grass flat in a circle.Getting up and looking around to find all of his work contempt, he headed back inside to begin his process of cleaning the bear.
