Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The dinner they had just eaten, or in Yuii's case picked at, was cleaned up quickly with the plate for Kaji set aside for his return. Silently, as she found her coat hidden in the bedroom she often shared with her black-haired lover, Yuii congratulated herself on a well-cooked meal and not vomiting it up. It was getting hard during these early days to keep her composure over a meal.

Admittedly she had forgotten all about Tatsuo living with Kaji. She came and went in the latest and earliest hours of the day normally; times that would make running into Tatsuo nigh impossible. So, when Yui had made her plan to leave the Torre Celeste early, cook Kaji a meal and talk to him once he came home; she hadn't figured in an audience member. It threw a loose bolt into the entire evening, as her already emotionally volatile state would not stand for the extra judgement. She had screwed up, Kaji was certain to be angry with her, but that was all a private matter.

"I think there are some old carrots in the fridge that Kaji saved for it," she shouted down the hallway whilst fidgeting with the buttons the fabric folds on her coat until they seemed to lay flat. There wasn't much show yet, but if Oniyuri's keen eye had noticed something then she needed to be careful. "Kooki doesn't like me much, I guess I smell too much like 'Yuri, so it'll be up to you to coax them in."

She would appear by the front door a minute later, already in her shoes and bundled as if there was a snowstorm coming instead of the light dusting of frost. Oniyuri had already disappeared out into the dusky forest, and Yuii hesitated only long enough to make sure they both had proper footwear before following.

"I taught Hoshi a lesson when he was still in the academy. I hope he's tempered his fighting style a bit more than back then and isn't expelling chakra needlessly. He was his own worst enemy." She mused aloud as she rounded the house to find the simple pitchfork and shovel to feed and clean up after Kaji's pet. "And what about you? Admittedly, Kikei's rambling report of your mission didn't have much.... positive information."

Tatsuo waited outside as she went inside the bedroom, he took a look outside and let out a yawn. He always felt a bit tired after eating but Yuii had enticed him with a chance to show off his stuff, showing your abilities to a foreign shinobi so readily wasn't the best idea but the earlier lecture was lost on Tatsuo. Plus he felt indestructible for the most part, why not show them off? He stretched a bit, touching his toes and twisting his body to make him nice and limber. Mid stretch he heard Yuii yell from inside and remind him of the carrots, with a sigh he walked back into the home and made his way for the fridge. He opened it and took a quick scan before finding the carrots hidden behind a carton of milk that smelled a little old. He gagged a bit before taking the baggy of carrots and meeting up with Yuii in the hallway. "Yea, can't blame the horse too much. Your tiger friend seems to want her for lunch."

When she stepped outside the boys brows furrowed, "Uh.. it's not that cold outside." he said as he grabbed a scarf from a hook on the wall. Tatsuo himself hated the cold, but it seemed Yuii was even more averse to it than himself. Slipping on some boots he stepped outside the door into the cold. He was really beginning to miss the warmth of Konoha, it was always so cold here especially as they moved towards the winter months.

"Yeah, Hoshi still has that problem. Not as bad? But he definitely doesn't know how to limit himself, but it's something I respect. He always goes one hundred percent, i'm excited to train and do all that but Hoshi's got something special." he said as he spoke fondly of his closest friend. "If i'm ever in a dangerous fight no one else i'd rather have fighting with me, ya' know?" When the conversation moved to him he rubbed his chin for a moment, "What do you mean about me? Also whose Kikei? Tatsuo hadn't seen the Uchiha since he returned to Kumogakure and he she was definitely one of the people he didn't want to remember.

Looking very much like a tiny bluebird huddling in the cold, Yuii buried her face into the folds of her coat and sniffed once as an answer. It was always cold in Kumogakure, at least for Yuii but she had circulation problems that went beyond the healing abilities of Mednin. Paired with the fact that she had very little body fat to her, Yuii simply could never stay warm. "Thats easy for you to say," she sighed, "I've got thin skin and one foot in the grave, as they say, and changelings don't like the cold." It was a joke that likely made no sense without context made for her own benefit. "Just wait until it gets proper cold. I'm not looking forward to walking all the way out here. If the fireplace wasn't tons better than my apartments perpetually broken heater and the company wasn't so good you'd never see me out here."

Her face twisted into a smile as they trudged on. It was good to hear Hoshi was as energetic as ever if a little reckless. Once that streak of throwing himself into a fight tempered down, he was certain to be a good shinobi. "Don't sell yourself short," she ordered, scanning over the red and yellow forest growth for the tools they needed, "If you expect less than greatness from yourself, you'll be less than great. Hoshi is just so thick sku.lled that it doesn't occur to him to doubt himself." At last, she found the shovel, and she held it up for Tatsuo to take.

"The girl you went on a mission with last time you were here," Yuii reminded him, her brows quirking up "was it that traumatic? I know she can be a bit dramatic and difficult to deal with." Yuii's student was a handful at her best and had always been quick to talk back. That paired with her difficulty with handseals made her a unique experience. She couldn't blame Tatsuo for wanting to forget her though; they had been kidnapped after all. "I meant, how do you fight? We've all got our styles. Personally, I range into the more...spiritual side of chakra. Have you picked up Kaji's stealth?"

Tatsuo took the shovel and let it hang down parallel to his leg, "I agree with the cold, i'm starting to miss the warmth of Konoha the more I think about it." Tatsuo thought back to home where it was always warm, especially in the South. Sometimes during the winter it would snow for a few days but nothing like the uninhabitable climate of the Lighting Country. No matter how long Tatsuo spent here he would never get used to it, but at least he wasn't alone in that suffering. Yuii seemed to have it way worse than he did.

"Yeah he definitely trains hard, i've gotten a lot stronger with him to motivate me. Even if I don't look forward to it as much as he does." he said chuckling before walking to the back of the house. As she began to remind him of who Kikei was, he nodded a few times and let out an exaggerated "Ohh! No it wasn't that traumatic, I just didn't like her. She was really annoying." he said as he continued to make his way to the back of the house, seemingly unaware of Yuii and Kikei's relationship. "Nah i've been on plenty of missions worse than that, i'd say that was one of the nicer ones." Shrugging his shoulders before going to shovel some of the snow out of the way from the horses stable.

Creating a large pile on the side of the house, he listened as Yuii explained her fighting style but continued to shovel snow. "Spiritual side of chakra? What's that mean?" There fighting styles were probably complete opposites, Tatsuo never relied on Genjutsu, nearly everything he did was physical and strong. Wood itself was a very physical element and he wasn't afraid to get into his enemies face and trade blows head on. "I wouldn't say I fight spiritually or whatever that means, I usually just uhh. I mean I don't hit as hard as Hoshi, nor do I sneak around as much as Kaji. I kinda just jump in and fight longer than my enemies. I don't like losing very much so I just.. decide not to?" Tatsuo really didn't understand where that fire in his stomach came from, but that was the most of it, he wouldn't ever hit as hard as some but no one could deny that he wasn't hard to take down.

As expected, Kooki didn't grace them with her presence, even as she found the pitchfork and muscled free some feed from a bale next to the stall that stall. There wasn't much that would coax that horse out to her, though Yuii wasn't sure if it was her or the giant cat that shadowed her. It would have been nice for something Kaji cared about to take to her, but Yuii could hardly be surprised with her apex predator sister sitting nearby though. If she were a horse, she wouldn't want anything to do with Oniyuri either. Nibbled on by an oversized house cat would be an embarrassing way to go. Oniyuri just moped to be denied a chance at a meal.

"Like, Genjutsu but with a bit more strength," she explained, wandering around again to try and find the bucket of oats she KNEW had to be around somewhere,"You've at least mastered the basic genjutsu cancel, haven't you? Or given consideration to Son Zu's twelve techniques for battle success? High ground? Trap setting?" She sounded less and less hopeful as she asked. Many, her meatheaded family included, avoided training in genjutsu even to learn to counter it. It left them open and vulnerable to attacks that they had no chance of countering. It made them lesser shinobi in Yuii's eyes, not that she would ever say so. As for battle tactics, well she hoped Kaji had at least TRIED to beat some of that into Tatsuo's head.

"Here, cancel this one," she insisted, regardless of his affirmative or negative. Yuii made a quick succession of handseals and the loud booming sound of a gong would fill Tatsuo's ears with an ear-splitting thunder. She would wait expectantly. The Main branch Sennin of Kumogakure has a very sink or swim method of teaching.

He opted to help her look around for the oats before realizing he had no idea where they were. He understood what she meant, Genjutsu really was a scary thing and he wasn't the most prepared for it. He had no mastery in them, but he was hardheaded enough to get himself out of them if he needed to.

Tatsuo hadn't expected Yuii to go ahead and put him in a Genjutsu without permission. He was mid shoveling some of the hay as she put him under a genjutsu without warning. The ringing in his ear caught him off guard and made his head ring. The boy had great willpower and was able to break through the genjutsu without a handseal. Afterwards he rubbed his ear and offered Yuii a confused frown "What was that about!" the boy exclaimed as he dropped the shovel crossed his arms and pouted. "Of course I know how to fight Genjutsu i'm a ninja aren't I?"

"I don't know much about all that other stuff, battle tactics or whatever, but I haven't had much issue just fighting everything head on. Setting traps and all that, that's really not my forte. Fight first ask later is usually how I do it." the boy said as he rubbed his chin thinking to the multitude of fights he had been in. Every once in a while he would prepare beforehand, but for the most part he would rush in guns blazing he liked the thrill of battle too much. Just the thought of participating in a good fight made him giddy, probably to the ire of his teammates and village.

Yuii barked a laugh and shrugged, "It was just a little genjutsu, don't pout." she chided, finally finding the lost bucket, "You didn't do too badly, that was a pretty reactionary response. You have to be ready for attack, especially living on the edge of the forest like this. There are some pretty, uh, fantastic creatures out there that would love to have a bit of foreign cuisine. Some even have rudimentary genjutsu that they can cast." Every so often they lost a few genin and students to the forest. Despite the danger being well known, kids just loved to dare each other to go wandering through the underbrush. If it didn't cause great distress amongst the parents of those brick headed lot, she might have called it genetic weeding. Not that Yuii thought Tatsuo would do the same but by virtue of living so close to the forest he had to be ready. After the kidnapping, he'd endured some years before, she had thought he would have trained to be ready for such situations by now.

For all her lectures, Yuii was just bumbling around like an untrained person. She didn't feel so very quick on her feet, and the small waves of dizziness were hard to deal with. That was why Oniyuri had taken it upon herself to hover while her contract holder was out this way. There wasn't much that could get through the nearly three hundred pounds of muscle and teeth that was the Lily. Speaking of the tigress, she'd slinked around the edge of Kaji's yard and was engaged in a stare-off with Kaji's poor steed. "Here, I can finish that if you want." Offering up the bucket of oats in return for the shovel, "She won't come near me without Kaji around." Then, at Oniyuri she added, "Back off kitty, or I'll let Kaji use you for target practice." Oniyuri huffed but retreated.

"So what do you do when you can't see your opponent or they've used a genjutsu to trick you or you're outnumbered and sure to lose? Raiden forbid they lay a trap and you run right in like a charging bull. Most of my meathead cousins fight like that too, and there are more than a few casualties a year." Yuii mused on that It might feel honourable and thrilling, but ultimately it was a dangerous ninja way. One's opponent was not always so kind as to meet you head-on. Yuii should know. "Barrelling into a fight without a plan is like eating cake without a fork. You get the job done, but not without the possibility of a huge mess."

[440 = 1490]

Tatsuo's frown quickly turned to a smile as he shared a laugh with her. "Yeah, yeah, some day i'll play a gong in your ear and see how you like it." he said as he stuck his tongue out at the blue haired woman. "Yeah i've got no issue getting out of a Genjutsu i'm aware of. It's being aware of them which is a little more difficult, ya know?" he said as he continued to shovel out some of the snow. "And i'm not really worried about anything here in the forest. Hoshi and I have had our fair share of run ins with them, but nothing we couldn't handle ya' know?"

As they talked Tatsuo began to notice the lack of grace Yuii had. While he couldn't remember if she was ungraceful before, but there was a certain fluidity that came with the movements of a shinobi and even Tatsuo was smart enough to realize that Yuii was no pushover. When she offered to help he waved his hand and shook his head, "Nah it's alright. You seem a little under the weather, I do this all the time anyways." he said as he continued to shovel the rest of the hay out of the way. As he left Tatsuo patted the horse on the top of the head before turning his attention back to the would be predator and shrugging his shoulders at it. "Not sure the horse would appreciate being an afternoon snack, sorry."

Tatsuo had finished up shoveling the yard as he listened to Yuii's questions about how he would fight under a plethora of scenarios. "Uhh, if I can't see my opponent I just go into stealth too. If they can't see me and I can't see them they can't beat me." He rubbed his chin, confident in his answer. "Trick me? Well I guess i'd just have to hope I could see through it. And if not, i'd just fight no matter what. For being outnumbered, well, oh well. Just sounds all that better when I win, doesn't it." he said offering a cheeky smile from ear to ear, "I don't know I fight really defensively. I just, well some things just don't hurt as bad as you'd imagine they would. I guess i'm not the cleanest fighter or have the most skill but I don't give up easily and I like to think that counts for something." the boy said offering a shrug, he was always a bit disappointing in the fact that he didn't seem as cool as others when he fought. He lacked the accuracy or grace of Kaji, the mental sharpness of a genjutsu user like Yuii, or the speed and strength of Hoshi.

Under the weather? Well, he could call it that. Yuii's eyelids lowered into a glare that she paired with a frown and aimed at the back of his head. She hadn't exactly been trying hard to stay fluid, but if this kid was noticing she wasn't capable, how long would it be until everyone else did? Particularly Kaji. She needed to put more effort into keeping up her usual, limber, energetic movements; at least until she was ready for the world to know. The trouble was, her balance was off even so early in her 'ailment' and it was hard to fight through sometimes. She was alright then, but moving with too much speed could set things off.

Before he could see the slip up in her jovial mask, Yuii returned to her usual cheery demeanour.

The lesson wasn't really sinking in, but Yuii hadn't expected it to. Finesse came with age, and it would be awhile before Tatsuo grew into his full potential. He also wasn't really giving her details of his fighting style which ultimately was admirable choice to make."It always counts. The most powerful shinobi in the world would be incredibly ineffective if they gave up." she returned, shrugging as well.

With nothing left to do, Yuii waited patiently as Tatsuo finished cleaning up. Oniyuri came and sat at her side, so she absently scratched the feline's ear. It was still too early, but she could have happily gone "I think we're done here. It's going to be a cold night. How about we light the fireplace and get it warmed up? " she offered once he appeared done. "I'd love some hot chocolate too I think." With that, she'd lead the way back to the house.

Hot chocolate sounded nice, Tatsuo nodded and smiled. "Sorry for not explaining too much I just don't know how to explain it ya' know? I kinda just fight. Not really sure how to put it any other way." The boy shrugged as he grabbed both the bucket and the shovel, putting them in a small shed in the back and heading back into the house with Yuii for some hot chocolate and mostly to get out of the cold.
