Well, wasn’t this a nice Sunday excursion?
Parrying blows from what most would perceive as blobs of shadows, Suika, with her deft movement and acrobatic abilities, flipped more than a few meters back and entered a combative stance. As a bead of sweat fell from her brow and the feelings of anticipation rushed through her, she took a moment to recall how she ended up in this predicament. What misfortune led the young kunoichi to battle a horde of demons in Kumogakure’s Ancient Forest?
-Flashback-
It was the weekend, but the life of a Chuunin was seldom met with a break. With her newfound duties as a trainee under the Sennin, Suika found herself running around the village in attempts to accomplish the list of tasks designated to her. Most would find the errands she was assigned quite monotonous, but the ever-diligent girl handled each mission with utmost care and professionalism. She was proud to be here, and she was smart enough to know that these were the steps necessary to fulfill her ambition. “Stamps, please.” Handing the postmaster yen, she made sure to collect all receipts of each transaction she made. Apparently, any expenditure of currency, especially for the sake of the Sennin’s office, had to be recorded. Why? She had not yet asked.
As the kunoichi stepped away and went about her business, she suddenly felt an odd sensation. Her skin was suddenly filled with goosebumps as a cold, ominous air brushed against her. With her magenta eyes suddenly glowing with spiritual aura, she focused her sights to where her extra-sensory perception led. She saw a dark spirit, a demon, scurry away like a little lizard. It ran away from the market… what was it doing here? Suika, to her dismay, was no stranger to demonic forces. In fact, she often fought nefarious beings, which far surpassed any actual shinobi-to-shinobi combat. While she was ninja, she frequently felt more of a glorified exorcist than anything else. With her sense of duty against dark forces intact, the kunoichi sighed, hid her gathered supplies in a location deemed safe, and chased after the ghoul. What was she getting herself into?
“Damn demons, not today.”
The critter was fast. She was hot on its trail, but the demonic entity managed to keep a few steps ahead. Suika kept to the shadows, as not to reveal her location, and awaited her opportune moment to strike. Before she knew it, she was in the Ancient Forest. The part of the expanse that the demon stopped at appeared devoid of humans. Animals in the area were either dead or had successfully fled for their lives. “Peh. Typical.” Summoning her ethereal blade, Haru no Tamashi, the kunoichi, as if a predator, prepared to rid this forest of the demon. But like more times than not, this being had friends. This time, however, it was way more than she expected. Creature after creature began to erupt from every dark corner. Hissing, snarls, and growls filled the air. Suika tightened her grip on her spiritual sword. Twenty, she counted. Thirty. Fifty. As the expanse filled with demented beings, her head began to pulsate with sudden, wrenching pain. Her blade faded away, then reappeared, then faded again. The cycle continued as she crouched over and held in any audible reaction to this spontaneous occurrence. What was going on with little Suika? After what felt an eternity, the pain disappeared. Clenching her ghostly blade once more, she fixated her eyes at the expanse before her. They were met with over fifty slitted pupils back.
They noticed her.
Not taking a millisecond for granted, Suika immediately repositioned herself and readied herself for battle. Her cover was blown. She thought she did well in suppressing any reaction to the intense pain she had felt, but the demon’s still caught notice to her. It was beyond her how, but now wasn’t the time to dwell on the thought. It was now time to fight.
-End Flashback-
The combat-talented Chuunin was able, at this point, to defeat at least fifteen demons. Usually, she found relative ease in eliminating such foul creatures, but these ones proved more of a hassle. They varied in sizes, but it appeared they shared some type of hivemind as she assessed their very organized patterns of attack. Demons were chaotic in nature, so their uniformity challenged her. The kunoichi had a few close calls, but she was able to keep to her wits and instincts as she continued to slay demons. The girl was confident in her ability, but she was surrounded. Will Suika survive today’s encounter?
[OOC: To anyone who joins, note that Suika is fighting a large horde of demons! These can be "seen" as you'd like - feel free to mod the situation for your own character as you see fit. Let's have fun!]

She had become fairly vane after the make-over upon her recently. The new, grown-up Kaori was a look that she absolutely adored; shedding away the childish appearance for one that she considered to be 'more refined'.
Kaori's form had changed drastically to a blonde with heterochromia eyes wearing flamboyantly 'magical' clothing. The look of annoyance still present on 'Magical Girl Kaori's' face as she opened the window of the inn and jumped out to follow behind Suika, the one who was actually chasing after these demons. It wasn't until they made it out to the Ancient Forest did 'Magical Girl Kaori' stop to assess the situation. There was a young girl fighting a large horde of demons out in the forest. A part of her was conflicted. She wanted to help the girl out of sheer duty and she also wanted to just go shopping and damn the girl's plight. These weren't the demons she signed up to destroy so what's the point? The call of duty was too strong and with a single stamp of her foot (in protest) 'Magical Girl Kaori' leapt into action.
She made a grand entrance and she noticed the bewildered look upon the local's face. A big grin came across
She held her blade in-hand as she pulled out another tag from her cleavage and threw the paper at Suika, causing it to stick upon her with a glistening and sparkling barrier enveloping her body. It was then that Suika's blade grew to an enormous size and it's blade didn't do much to effect the demon. This caused Kaori to stumble a bit. If a blade that big wouldn't hurt the creature, then what? She had to think! If small bits of maintained damage doesn't work, then perhaps massive strikes that dealt high burst damage would do the trick.
She immediately appeared in front of the beast's exposed-face and attempted to plunge her blade deep into it's formless body. Before her blade was able to reach the creature, a strange barrier coalesced at the tip of her blade; halting her advance. She placed both of her hands upon the blade to help her penetrate through the barrier, only for the barrier to expand outwards, flinging both her and her weapon in different directions. Airi was capable of recovering mid-air while the Crystal Blue Blade tumbled blade over pommel until it stuck into the ground. She wanted to show a look of disappointment on her face, but she simply turned to look towards Suika and give her a thumbs-up. There was a sound of sparkling when she did this.
It was, as if, on queue that Suika's question would be answered. "
