Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kiri - On the Rise

Forgetting Initiative and Learning "Deflection":

Being able to move fast was rather to his liking. But moving ahead without planning wasn’t as reckless as one could get. Though he may be able to plan better, now that he has tapped into his blooodline, giving him a renewed sense of responsibility and strength, he thought it would be better to introduce more defensive strategies to his arsenal. Besides, he wasn’t the only one going through the phase of development. Others, too, were training hard in order to improve their capabilities. He needed to make sure he would not be left behind. But simply tricks would no longer the trump cards he could use. He’ll have to figure out how to fight back with a more vicious approach, including counters.

As such, while working his way into the new country, he would find himself trying to find his targets. Like the games he played in Kumo, hunting for creatures to test his strength on, Kiri would search through the forest of this new country, getting used to the wild animals that lurked within them. A wolf, he saw, quickly jumped towards him and Kiri had step back to avoid. But that wasn’t the only thing he had in mind. He quickly brought his sword up and caught the wolf’s mighty paw, somehow parrying the offensive. The weapon made a faint recoil on his hand but the it seemed to have thwarted the enemy. Quickly, he would raise the sword in defense once more.

This time, the wolf made for a direct attack, only to have its entire weight pushed aside by the parrying action. Kiri would then make a quick turn before striking down at the animal. Again and again, baiting the creature and deflecting, seemingly dancing and letting his muscles remember the movement by heart, Kiri would end the short hunt soon after, knowing he was at least, no longer too eager to attack and was at least conscious to protect himself.

Also, I haven't gotten my free Med Branch ability yet, so taking "Combat Medic"

A single breath and his sword swiftly cuts through the incoming creature. He barely loses his balance as he sways to avoid getting splashed by the blood that sprays from the corpse that lands a few meters away. Turning on his heels, Kiri keeps his eyes on the dying moments of the animal as he swings his sword and swats the blood away from the blade before sheathing his weapon. Only then did he notice that a small tint of red was blotting on his sleeves–a cut, even on the fabric of his shirt. At that, he places his free hand on the arm and gathers his chakra along the palm of his hand, sending that warm sensation, feeling the healing energies mend the cut tissues under his skin. He then lifts his hand and there was but a scratch left on where the cut was.

This was his way– he thought. He may have been learning how to be a medic, but he was first and foremost a warrior.

Learning "Jutsu Expansion"

Kiri performs a sequence of handseals and then gathers his chakra along his arms before releasing the jutsu, sending a flurry of shadows from the ground, erupting like stalagmites. He kept his eyes on the targeted tree that was rent asunder and thought about the jutsu. He focused his mind, closing his eyes as he began to imagine the gathering of the chakra along his hand. There was a warm feeling to it as flames began to flicker. When he opened his eyes, he saw that the flames were turning in their color, consumed into black flames that surged along his hand before he shot out like a massive flamethrower, destroying a tree almost instantly. He had to cast down a water jutsu just to control the fire from spreading any further as he was still grinning at the success of over-empowering his jutsu.

One thing that he recently discovered is his innate talent for genjutsu. It wasn’t as strong as his ninjutsu thanks to the demon residing in him, but he had always been fascinated by illusions from when he was younger and more creative in his ways of dealing with enemies. And as he was hunting in the forest of Leaf, he had began to train his illusions on creatures to see how far he could take them. Sending a burst of his chakra towards a target, the illusion taking hold of it as it began to screech in pain at the sudden burst of unknown energy sapping at its limbs, breaking its muscles, Kiri would then strike and deliver a much more efficient and bold cutting mark, easily disposing the target. And he wondered if he could continue to train this for an even overwhelming illusion that could incapacitate the enemy.

Forgetting Mind Overflow and Learning Water - Chakra Style
RP here: (WC: 317)
Being able to manipulate the chakra pulse on the opponent through interference was definitely something to behold. However, recently, Kiri had been meditating on trying to further develop his natural abilities in order to fully strengthen himself without having to rely on the beast’s curse. And as such, his strategy to overwhelm the enemy needs to be innovated in order to fit his new style of fighting.

As a combat medic that he is aspiring to become, he must have the mental and physical fortitude to intervene in a fight while also providing the necessary safety and treatment to his allies in danger. As such, he realised that the fluidity and unexpectedness of water was perfect. While commanding shadows, he had been able to manipulate the composition of his water-justus in order to convert them into shadows at will, and they retain their fluidity in some sense, granting them a formidable and adaptive nature. This would surely be help him- he thought.

Gathering the chakra along his hand once more, Kiri takes a long deep breath as he clears his mind. Then, the chakra would form into the shape of a large water dragon before the tides around its body began to change into a shade of black. At once, the water dragon would flow around before darting towards the intended target of a rock surface. With the water coursing like shadows around the body, Kiri would increase his chakra output along the water dragon’s body as it strengthens and speeds up. No sooner would it tear into the rock surface, cracks running all across form the point of impact and pieces crumbling down, while the water dragon bored a hole into the centre, leaving nothing as much of hesitation or decrease in strength upon collision. It was satisfactory at the moment, but Kiri would continue to train in honing water jutsu to become his strength.

Learning "Elemental Aura" with bought Ability Card:
RP: WC: 173
Learning to master the beast’s power can be tedious, and he was far from doing so. Kiri need ways to circumvent the flaws it had and optimise with what he could offer through other means. As such, he had been training to further excel in the use of his chakra manipulation for the elements. Though he would be more precise with his affinity for shadows due to his bloodline, it did not mean that he would not be able to do the same feat on others. In fact, it allowed him to better get attuned with the elements, figuring out the proper way to harness them and manipulate them as he willed, and learning their many temperaments. After all, fire did not work in the same manner as water. But there are ways to compromise, to bend them, and find their commonalities. And once done, Kiri can adjust his chakra output to create a veil of elemental power, to wash over him as an aura, both protective and aggressive as he so wished.

Unlearning "Deflection" and Learning Elemental Illusion

There had to be a way to become more efficient. Kiri had noticed from his most recent class, a survival class to be precise, that defending has its own limits. Sure, he could parry and perhaps deflect a certain amount of the incoming assault, but that still left him wide open for anything that could his way. Sometimes, when people say that defense is the best offense, the same can be said of the opposite. Still, there had to be a way to meld the two without prioritizing just one. After all, he had been a contradictory through all his life. There had to be ways to improve himself in ways that others did not expect.

So he trained more and more in some of the areas that he knew he was good at. In particular, he trained himself in his hold over genjutsu. He wasn't as proficient as Yuuto nor Takeshi, but his training with Osu in the past had greatly left an impression over him – that he could somehow make good use of his innate hold over kinetic genjutsu. Thus, he harnessed his chakra, manipulating the entity of the power as it combined with his genjutsu. Targeting one of the woodland creatures to see the effectivity of the action, he would carefully asses what was needed to improve and what worked well. And lacing his fiery chakra into the aura of the genjutsu, he saw that he could increase the pain that would course throughout the target’s body, while lacing lightning chakra made them unable to move properly. A few more combinations and he was beginning to see the advantages of different elemental chakras laced into the illusions, and quickly, he was forming strategies in his mind. Hopefully, it would prove useful and true for the future. And perhaps he would have finally found a missing piece to his repertoire.

Strangling the deer, the vice grip made of shadowy tentacles would slowly glide away. The creature is released, its body limp on the ground, dead cold. Kiri approaches it and takes a moment to observe the creature before looking around him. He knew that for certain targets, binding was an easy feat, but for the stronger predators, he needed something more than just that. Even if the power was something he was slowly getting used to, it didn’t hurt to learn more and adjust ones capabilities in order to contest something unexpected.

As such, he walked away and began to go deeper into the forest, right where those dangerous creatures were. As he stalked one of the faster moving creatures, he began to strategies his movements. With quick movement, allowing his body to process what the mind commands, Kiri gives his limbs the freedom to act, thus releasing all forms of constraints. In turn, he drew out his weapon almost instinctively fast in reaction to his approach to the creature. And right before he clashed with the target, he managed to adjust his footing and entered an offensive style, allowing his chakra to pulsate with a dangerous kind of feel, sending chills down the spine of the target.

And in one fell swoop, he would channel his fiery chakra into the sword before cleaving the animal in half, an explosion booming. He was slowly returning to his more aggressive style.

Unlearning "Healing Factor" and Learning "Hidden Power":

Getting hurt was normal. Injuries were part of the game. Broken bones were part of the deal. Spitting blood meant that he was alive. And yet, he would not break. Kiri stood up once more and wiped the back of his hand across his face, smearing some of the red liquid along his arm. A bruise on the side of his cheek, a cut on his brow and lip, a parting gift of the powerful strike from the brute of a creature in front of him was a welcoming scar if it would. But it would not stop him. With eyes trained on the giant bear-like creature, Kiri lowered his stance as a strange power began to build up inside him. It wasn’t just the beast’s presence that he could feel inside his soul, there was something more. It felt like a scream, a temperamental soul that was in fury, and eager to let lose.

And so, with eyes catching the proper timing, Kiri would easily dodge the creature’s attack and deal his own. It was something more accurate, more deadly, more raw, as if deep down inside him, something emerged like an unknown power that exploded. His held blade struck deep and clean all throughout. In one movement, it all ended. And so, he learned that sometimes, when he is pushed to a corner, when he is beaten, was when he could emerge more frighteningly stronger and deadlier.

Unlearning "Hidden Power" and Learning "Concentrated Focus"
RP: here (WC: 335)
With eyes trained towards his target, he would normally let his full focus be set upon it. In fact, Kiri had long had a problem with single targeting, often than not bringing much needed problem to his already strained way and reckless fighting style. But if there’s anything he’d learned from his recent outings and hunts, it was best to collaborate with the strength of his brother. By that, he would mean to utilise what he was good at, and seemingly born to be. As such, taking pride in his recent learnings about his Nara bloodline, he would utilise the power of the shadows.

A swift movement catches his eyes and immediately, Kiri went to work. Without the need for handseals, he let his chakra ooze out towards his shadows beneath his feet. Almost instantly, the the black pool would stretch outwards, racing through the surface with deadly accuracy before it latches onto the prey. A helpless wolf gets trapped with a squeal before even its voice seemed to have vanished in midair. It falters as it tries to break free from the clutches of the shadows. Then, as if the shadows themselves were alive, it surges with renewed power and Kiri strikes with a second assaulting spikes of shadows without pause. Almost as if connected, almost as if the two actions were considered one, yet they were simply in succession.

He takes a moment to breathe again as he watches the tendrils that have formed and weaved through air and flesh and blood before they retracted from the creature’s body and disappearing into the shadowy pool that had latched the animal in place. And soon, the pool would also let go of its hold, shrinking away from the creature and returning to its mundane life beneath his feet. Kiri takes a moment to burn the action into memory. It had been a long time since he had thought of doing this, and it was about time he relearned skills and instincts of the past.

Unlearning "Jutsu Expansion" and Learning "Mind Overflow"
RP: here (WC: 393)
One’s power over the elements could only go to certain heights. One’s power over the jutsus depend on the ability and the mastery. And one’s power to syphon the energy to create a much more explosive and devastating jutsu could only reach a certain ground before a new boundary would enclose its efficiency and potential. Kiri may have learned that the hard way as he recently trained with Manzo from Leaf, where he held nothing back with his chakra, letting lose to effectively increase the potential threat of his abilities. But that did little to help in his fight. In fact, it would be there that he learned of the fundamentals he may have forgotten. Strength did not simply come as something that destroys with great power and coverage. It could also be about honing one’s innate capability and reaching new heights with it.

As such, going back to his natural training grounds, the forests of Lightning Country, Kiri would scout the lands for prey, finding a free-spirited bird, though large enough to be a bird of prey. Upon finding his target, he would instantly form the strategy in his head, eyes closing for a short while to contemplate the movements. Then, in a quick succession, he would let his chakra manipulate his shadows across the surface. It ran along the ground, snakes along the tree and then shot out to grab the bird by the talon. One small connection sent the bird crashing to the ground as more of the shadowy tendril would wound itself around the creature. Terror was shown in its eyes as movements were isolated, and the bird could probably only fathom the unknown and horror of its fate.

But Kiri would be quick to send a wave of his chakra at the bird, letting the agonising aura take hold of the bird, embedding a deep illusion that would sting with an unknown source across its body as its mind would battle the instructions. With the bind gone, the shadowy tendrils ebbing away, the bird struggled for a moments. It wasn’t that Kiri enjoyed the sight. He simply wanted to see the extent, and soon enough, he showed mercy and killed the bird as quickly as he could. Now, he knew that his hold over genjutsu was stronger than before. Thus, he could utilise it for his own.

RP: (WC: 346)
As he watches the burning corpse of the creature he hunted along the mountain pass, Kiri clenched his fist and then opened it. He would do so repeatedly before looking down at his hand and recalling the sensation of it. There was something amiss. Turning around, he was about to leave when his other hand would accidentally hit the pommel of Nakigitsune which was strapped to the side of his obi. He stopped and finally realised what it was that he missing for quite some time. He held a hand on the hilt of his uchigatana and allowed his palm to rest against the cold fabric that laced around the handle. It really felt so long since he had been an active swordsman with his battles. With every new development, he was progressing more and more into what he could be, and for some odd reason, had began to forget what he had always been.

That would change now, he swore as he remembered the memories of his brother’s soul about sword fighting, every movement becoming fresh in his mind. And so he hunted once more. Despite creating the opportunity to corner the prey with his shadow jutsus, seemingly herding it to a spot, the creature was a fighter and struggled back with its sheer strength. At that point, Kiri side-stepped and while doing so, drew out his sword quickly and made for a spiralling attack that hacks away into the creature’s hyde, cold steel meeting flesh and bone as it swung. But that wasn’t all of it, as he continued to turn, pivoting on one leg, situating himself as he drew out his other weapon, the wakizashi Kunihiro. Shorter but firm and equally deadly, he launches a strike outwards and stabs the creature in the back with a flurry. And to top it off, his shadow threads would rise from the ground, impaling the creature into a tree of shadows.

And all at once the shadows would retract and the beast would fall dead. And the swords made a resounding echo in his mind.

Re-learning "Shinobi 101" from Kin Gen to Nin –> Will Gen to Nin
RP: here (WC: 357)
Illusions were one of the first tricks he’d learned. He was mostly informed by the memories of his brother’s soul, so growing up learning to survive on his own it became of the staple ideas and techniques he relied on. Long before he even knew of his inherited bloodline, he had always felt a sense of strange connection to the jutsu of illusion. Before long, he had come to show a good understanding of manipulating illusions to coincide with his other jutsus. It was, perhaps, his discovery of his Nara Bloodline, however, that prompted Kiri to further explore the possibilities of genjutsu, culminating to the manipulation of awareness of one’s will.

One prompt reminder of its potency was a chance encounter with a shinobi in the past who had tried to take over his will, suggest, and him seemingly falling prey to it as he was ill-prepared. But Kiri was aware that the genjutsu’s pinnacle was yet to be revealed, and there was more to having such control and power of the will. And to prove his point, he began to train and discover his way into the world of Will Genjutsus.

As he would normally train on his own in the mountains, often than not encountering some stray bandits that preyed the nearby towns, he would begin to experiment with his hold over their wills. But not in the tyrannical way, more so towards bending the perception and registry of one’s senses. He managed to hide his true actions by simply blocking out the target’s mind from seeing what was real. He would cause another to suddenly stumble and forget what he was intending to do. Another would feel unrealistically terrified to the point of attacking his own comrades. And then, there was the time when a target suddenly felt unable to continue, confusing his own will and then simply acting out in a deranged way, no longer able to comprehend what was happening and what he aimed to do.

And in the end, Kiri found that this illusion was also suitable to his bloodline as he could easily fade from their perception with ease.

Daitsutsumitaira 大包平
Type: Slashing
Description: A unique sword that was forged with a hollow centreline, and sharp at both sides of the 2-feet long blade. The hollow design creates for a central stabiliser, limiting the potential recoil power of each strike. At the same time, it is significant in producing excellent aerodynamics for the blade, allowing swift and precise movement. This is important as Daitsutsumitaira is a sword-staff by aesthetics and craft, with the rest of the body being the white handle laced with red and black silk. The part where the blade meets the body is secured by an obsidian hilt that covers the menace (iron nails) that lodge itself into the sturdy body. In keeping proportion and balance with the overall weight for swift movement and wide reach, the body’s length is 4 and a half feet. Thus, the combined length of Daitsutsumitaira is 6.5 feet (blade and body length) and weights approximately 3.5 kg.

Unlearning Elemental Aura and Learning Combo Master
RP: WC: 324 (part of my post (first 3 paras) in https://www.ninpocho.com/viewtopic.php?p=271519#p271519)
Fine tuning one's knowledge about certain jutsus was always difficult. Kiri, for one, who was never trained the normal way a young shinobi would by his parents from a young age, had to learn things through memories of his brother. It wasn't the easiest of things as he had to go through trial and error, often than not endangering himself in the process as he lived on his own in the forest. But days would turn into months and then to years. For a moment, there was a threat of him not being and to understand human language for despite learning from his brother, things were always easier when you could speak the language out loud. But training, nowadays, would be different as he had access to actual teachers that were experts in their respective fields. One of those he learned was to strengthen his manipulation of his chakra that formed as a sort of veil around his body. With it, he could increase his advantage in varying ways to adjust in different scenarios.

Still, there was a part of him that felt lost and somewhat dissatisfied. With everything that has happened in the last year or so, Kiri had come to terms that there was something more primal, more instinctive to the way he hunted in the past that was lost. As such, upon returning to Kumogakure, he set out to do his usual hunts in the forest. Here, where the land seemingly spoke to him so familiarly, there was no need to hold back.

A rustle among the leaves had Kiri tracking the culprit and found tracks of a wild beast. From his experience, he could gather that it was one of those big tusked boars. And as soon as he spotted it, he grabbed hold of its consciousness with his invading aura before unleashing a series of strikes. A few more and the beast would fall without a second too late.
