Kinesis
<i></i>
The ability to move things using his mind had always intrigued Kushin, it made things much easier, something which inspired most of his training in advanced elements. Being able to sit at his desk and pull books off of shelves from nearby walls without needing to get up was a benefit he couldn't pass up. It also meant that when conducting more scientific experiments he was able to perform more than one action at a time. The most beneficial use he came to was that no matter how steady his hands were, the kinetic abilities were steadier. This helped with surgeries, in particular the kinjutsu and bloodline removal surgeries.
One of the other medical shinobi in the hospital of a more advanced age and experiance than Kushin had at the time, used it. Interesting in this invisible power Kushin asked them about it. He wanted to know if it was some clan ability, some bloodline, or whether it could in fact be taught. The man told him that it was simply something which could be learned. However one needed to have mastery of the Fire element and some control over Wind. Kushin went away after this and trained in those elements. Slowly he began to master the fire techniques and relatively quickly he gained control over wind. He didn't just want some control over wind however, and he didn't return to the man until he had both completely mastered. Once he returned the man taught him how to blend them in the right proportions to create the kinetic style jutsu. It was after this that Kushin began using the Kinetic jutsu, and slowly his mind found more and more uses for it. He stumbled with it at first and there were many broken beakers and other glass objects. With time he learned precision though.
Paper
<i></i>
The art of Paper jutsu mastery was an unusual choice in many ways for Kushin. He already could move the sheets of paper around with his mind and thus he had the means to use paper as he wished. Yet this wasn't why he took aim at the element. Paper was a general part of Kushin's day. He worked with paper, filed paper, was surrounded by paper. Within his office it was a veritable fortress of paper. In Kushin's mind he took into concideration the destructive powers of the other elements if used within his room. Fire and lightning would destroy many documents, incinerating them forcing Kushin to lose potential knowledge. Blood and water would be just as damaging, yet their damage wouldn't be limited to documents, but blood would begin to smell, water would damage the walls making them damp and then rot. Earth would rend holes through the hospital and the least damaging jutsu's he could use would be Wind which would simply scatter documents everywhere or his recently learned Kinetic jutsu which at the time was the only other jutsu he had.
Yet if he learned paper then not only were the documents around him reinforced to a point where they wouldn't be damaged, but they would be able to be used as a weapon. One which most people wouldn't realise existed. Indeed, in his room, unarmed and unguarded an assassin may think he was limited with his defenses. Yet this concept of using paper jutsu would in fact mean that he would always be armed, he would always be surrounded with a means of causing death. And doing so without losing information or reports, which was a very important factor.
Finding that it took Earth and Lightning elements to create paper amused him a little as he wondered how Lightning contributed to the paper, but decided not to nit pick and instead went about his training in earnest. Once more he mastered both base elements and then went on to learn the paper jutsu.
Ink
<i></i>
Ink was the next most logical step for Kushin in his advanced element training. It had both use and gave him yet another weapon which was frequently nearby, though in his office this had the same negative effect as blood. However the idea that he could stand smugly and say "the pen is mightier than the sword" and then skewer the person with ink from that pen amused him enough to go about learning this element. It wasn't just that of course, the idea that he wouldn't need to worry about having to rewrite reports a hundred times because he's made a spelling error, or something of the like was equally enticing.
These thoughts in mind he went to the Library where he'd spent his time learning Ancient Kumogakure, both the vulgar and the classical languages during his years as a trainee, both for ANBU and Medical, and as a mednin. He'd figured that there was a good chance that the librarians knew the technique and could let him know how to master it. When he found one who did they told him that he'd need Lightning and Wind. Once more he chuckled, who would have thought that something which came out of the earth would need two things which didn't exist in the earth at all. It was a crazy world.
It did give Kushin a bonus though. His hunger for jutsu mastery had been rising, and this gave him an excuse to master the Wind element as well. This would make him a master of all the five main elements, he was already a master of Medical jutsu as well as well versed in those jutsu known as Non-Element, which meant that this would bring him close to perfecting his abilities as a ninjutsu shinobi. Kushin learned Wind, and then quickly mastered Ink, yet it was the next element which held his interest.
Radiation
<i></i>
Radiation was finally an element which came to him through his work. It was a little known element, and one which wasn't well practiced, even in Kumogakure which had many world famous medical shinobi. Yet it had medical properties, ones which Kushin could see. Yes it was used at the time to break down chakra, and it was also known to have poisonous effects. But it killed anything it targeted. Anything! Which when you could target very small precise things had a use to more than simply killing another shinobi. Though that was also useful. For Kushin that was the least useful attribute the element had. He found that shinobi who had been killed with radiation jutsu were useless to him. Fantastic element if you were an ANBU and simply wanted to destroy anything so that enemy villages couldn't recover anything of value, terrible if you're a Mednin who wants to recover anything of value.
So he knew it needed to be mastered, beyond that of which the general shinobi populace used this jutsu for. Through his practice of it he found other useful functions. He could activate the ability to xray someone, allowing him to see them much like how he imagined a Hyuuga could see someone, an attribute he'd long been jealous of, which allowed him to perform his surgeries much better. He could target the location of whatever problem directly, not having to search through organs trying to find one which was busted.
This element turned into his more prized jutsu. The functionality of it combined with its almost limitless potential for destructive power were wonderful. He just always had to make sure that he wouldn't do anything damaging to any organs that he wanted harvested after the person was dead. Small cancers were now treatable and poisons which caused death could be neutralized.
